Lenovo 10-3 & OpenGL 1.5

Hello coleagues !
I ve picked this machine for keepin it with,  had it setup with win7 and latest bios / drivers. I have vid drivers directly from intel and what ive noticed - bby spec this 3150 gpu should support opengl spec 1.5 but in reality it is only 1.4.
Asked intel about that and .. are u doing some tweaks on this chip redusing its caps ? I gues no. here is the log:
Victor: Hello. Thank you for using the Intel Customer Support chat service. We are glad to be of service. How can I help you today?
you: Just 2 questions regarding openGL support for 3150.
you: 1st why intel site is saying it can support spec 1.5 over windows but in reality it is 1.4
Victor: This will depend on the driver that you have.
you: i have win7 and recent drivers
you: they are 1.4
Victor: Is this an OEM computer like DELL*?
you: like lenovo
you: but drvs are from intel site of cause...
Victor: The chipset may have been customized by your system manufacturer. You should contact Lenovo* to confirm the compatibility.
you: ok 2nd why it is spec 2.0 on linux but spec 1.? on win.
you: really it is a bit silly - cutting hw caps on most popular os.

Hi
Seems to be quite a challenge keeping up with software code development and evolution.
Specific to Safari 1 in Panther, I've seen a number of recent instances where Safari 1.3.2 has been shut out of web sites due to the developer employing recent code advances incompatible with Safari 1. The only recourse is using another browser. I don't use Camino, so I don't know why it's latest version is having trouble with Comcast's site (they are not the most Mac friendly provider). I suggest directing your comments to Comcast.
As far as Safari upgrade, Apple has shown no inclination to upgrade earlier versions of Safari. The upgrade path remains either Tiger or (soon) Leopard. In either instance you would have access to Safari 3.
If you want to send feedback to Apple, you can do so here.

Hey whenever i try to open a game it says "it failed to find an accelerated OpenGL mode." could you help me to find a solution or update the correct version for my computer? thank you very much
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi, Javivelez
I did some research on your error and it seems like you're trying to play MineCraft. Is that correct? If so, then I would recommend updating your display drivers, which you should be able to find here. Select your appropriate operating system and select "Display" under category. This will bring up the display drivers for your machine and operating system.
    Good luck,
    Adam

  • Nvidia Optimus on a Lenovo Y580

    Greetings folk!
I'm trying to get optimus workings on my Lenovo Y580 laptop. I had it working a few months ago, but I ended up having to format and reinstall reciently and now I can't seem to get it working with the latest version, I think I may be due to the new kernel.  I remember a few things about the last install, i'm pretty sure bbswitch was recent enough to not need the  y580 acpi hack.  I'll go ahead and start posting some information.

    Quick Update:
So I've just came across this wiki page: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/NVIDIA_Optimus

Maybe it's happening because it's stuck in D3. Pretty sure the latest driver would support the 660m.  I guess I may have to look into installing a older kernel.
I found a similar problem here:

so far google's not turning up too much.

  • E520 w/ 6630M 2GB card won't work correctly with "Advanced" OpenGL setting in Adobe Photoshop CS5.5

I'm having a problem using the "Advanced" OpenGL setting in Adobe Photoshop CS5.5. While I can select "Advanced" as an option, none of the advanced features are available to use (like flick panning and animated zoom).
I've updated my system with the latest video drivers (8.840.7.3000/6.14.0.3074) and BIOS (1.22/1.10/1.02), however, that's not working.
The video drivers packaged on the Lenovo site aren't the latest listed on the AMD site for the 6630M and I can't update my system with drivers from the AMD site.
This is a real issue for me since I bought the laptop as a design production machine and can't utilise the graphics card to its full potential. I wrote to AMD to ask them, which resulted in them pushing it back as Lenovo issue.

With other images same problem, no matter how large selection or small. There is always transparent silhouette of selection.
On other devices with the same images, tool work perfectly.
    Sorry for my english.

  • Adobe Photoshop OpenGL

    Hi
I am using a 3 year old Lenovo 3000 N100 (type 0768) laptop running Windows XP Pro SP3.
I am also using Photoshop CS4 which ships with OpenGL zooming technology. In order to use this feature I need a video driver (nvidia I believe). I don't know what video driver I am currently using and not sure how to check.
Can anyone offer any advice on this one.
    Much appreciated.

    Right-click desktop and choose>Properties>Settings>Advanced>Adapter
    Adapter Type should tell you.

  • W530, External monitor flashes on OpenGL

I have a Lenovo W530, which I'm using with an external ASUS monitor connected via HDMI. When I launch an application that uses OpenGL, all of my screens flicker off and on multiple times for about 2 or 3 seconds all told, and then finally stop flashing and then it works. However, I would prefer that it did not do this, because it is very annoying.
Without the 2nd display connected, the laptop screen works fine and doesn't flash. If I connect a different 2nd ASUS monitor via VGA cable, it also works fine.
I did not have this problem until upgrading video drivers recently to deal with another unrelated issue (a different piece of software required updated NVidia drivers).
    Any ideas?

    Hi Paul930,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community!
As per the query we understood that you are issue with external monitor on your ThinkPad W530.
I suggest you to uninstall the current graphic drivers of both Nvidia & Intel, download latest version from the support site and install it.
    Hope this helps.
    Best regards,
    Hemanth Kumar

  • T61 - New NVIDIA driver disabled OpenGL (NVS 140M)

After recently updating my NVIDIA video driver using the ThinkPad update tool, my OpenGL drivers were disabled!  Everytime I try to run an OpenGL enabled application, I get the following error message: "nVidia OpenGL Driver: Driver components mis-match. Exit is the only option".  I tried reinstalling the drivers (version 7.15.11.7597), using the binary found on the Lenovo website, and rebooting, but it doesn't seem to help.  Does anyone have a suggestion on how to fix this issue?
    Thanks in advance.

  • OpenGL not available in AEF CS3, although graphicscard supports OpenGL 2.1

    Hello all,
I have a IBM Thinkpad R61 (notebook) with a nVidia Quadro NVS 140M graphics card (which supports Direct X 10 and OpenGL 2.1 according to nVidia. Running on Vista. After Effects CS3 version 8.0.2.27.
    So far the tech info.
My problem is that even though my graphics card supports OpenGL After Effects says the graphics card doesn't support it. On the preferences > Preview tab I can't turn OpenGL on. And according to the OpenGL info button a OpenGL supporting Graphics Card can't be found. Graphic Drivers may require an update it says. But my drivers are completely up to date. Tried updating through windows update, and through the Lenovo / IBM upgrade utility, but it can't seem to find more recent drivers.
Does anybody have a solution for this?

It's not so much that you are bound to the manufacturer's branding and versions, but the pertinent functions may simply have been disabled for safety reasons. With notebooks, anything can happen and it's part of the marketing policy and why some of them are so pricey. I recommend you take this up directly with Lenovo support via phone or official support requests on the web. There may be a driver that releases the functions, but it may be considered too unstable for public release. They may give you access to it, but ask of you that you hold no liabilities against them in case something goes wrong. Other than that you can always try RivaTuner/ SoftQuadro which will coerce your system into thinking it has a different card by adjusting some driver settings. This is of course also all on you own risk.

  • How to get OpenGL 4 on an intel/nvidia laptop

    Hi,
    I have the following setup:
    A lenovo T430 with intel/nvidia graphics.
I managed to get the nvidia driver and bumblebee installed. So far I am able to run games such as L4D on my machine.
However, Metro 2033, requires OpenGL4. Right now I have the mesa-10.3.5 implementation of OpenGL, which provides OpenGL 3.0.
Can anybody give me some hints.

NVIDIA's proprietary graphic card driver doesn't depends on mesa anyhow, Mesa is used with Intel driver on your laptop.
You have Nvidia NVS 5000M Series videocard (NV5x).
    From NVIDIA Wiki article
For GeForce 8000/9000 and 100-300 series cards [NV5x, NV8x, NV9x and NVAx] from around 2006-2010, install the nvidia-340xx or nvidia-340xx-lts package, available in the official repositories.
If you are on 64-bit and also need 32-bit OpenGL support, you must also install the equivalent lib32 package from the multilib repository (e.g. lib32-nvidia-libgl, lib32-nvidia-340xx-libgl or lib32-nvidia-304xx-libgl).
Reboot. The nvidia package contains a file which blacklists the nouveau module, so rebooting is necessary.
Be sure noveau deleted from /etc/mkinitcpio.conf if you had it, I suggest you don't need it for now.

  • Updated Drivers / Proper OpenGL Support for T400/T500 Models with Switchable Graphics

    Dear Lenovo, Dear interested users,
when will an updated switchable graphics driver for Windows Vista (and also Win7, they are both quite outdated) finally be available? The drivers are completely outdated!
With the current driver for Windows Vista (Version 8.563.2.1-090401a-079160C) only a fraction of OpenGL extensions are supported:
The internal Intel GMA 4500MHD can only Handle OpenGL 1.1 (instead of OpenGL 2.1 it is certified for). Therefore most applications needing OpenGL won't run.
The dedicated ATI Radeon 3470 only supports OpenGL 2.1 (instead of OpenGL 3.1 it is certified for).
You can verify this behavior with the utility "OpenGL Extensions Viewer".
I hope Lenovo didn't close the chapter switchable graphics for T400/T500 systems. It would be a shame for a company claiming to be a leader in business computing to deliver such poor driver-support.
In hopeful expectance of updated drivers,
    Patrick

I'm having the same problems.  Is anyone reading this?

  • T400 ATi Driver, Vista64, Visual Studio 2005/2008 + OpenGL = Application hangs

Well, the thread title sums it up pretty concisely.
I develop OpenGL Apps in C++ on my Lenovo T400. My OS is Windows Vista 64 and I use Switchable Graphics. When using ATI Graphics my apps hang since i installed the lastest ATI Driver for the T400 (Release: 2009-04-28) when (and only when) starting the applications in the debugger. When starting the apps directly (either compiled for Debug or Release targets, both 32-bit) however, they work (!).
As far i can tell it hangs when it tries swapping the buffers (for double buffering).
This happens both in Visual Studio 2005 and 2008. When will there be a fixed driver?

    timebits wrote:
This is really annoying since this is the only driver supporting OpenGL 3.0!
The current Lenovo driver is Catalyst 8.12 based (8.56 driver release). I thought OpenGL 3.0 support was only added in Catalyst 9.1 (8.57 driver)?
The next Lenovo driver will be Catalyst 9.3 based (8.59 driver.) It was supposed to have shipped by the end of April but they had problems so decided to ship the Catalyst 8.12 based driver instead (the driver we had before 4/28 was really old -- based on Catalyst 8.8 -- 8.52 driver)
For the whole saga of Lenovo/ATI's tardiness in making switchable graphics work see this thread.
If you as a developer are dependent on having uptodate functionality in your graphics driver, you should consider modding the drivers you can download from the ATI site. All the links here are for Vista 32 but I am sure you can find the corresponding Vista 64 links. This means giving up on switchable graphics and setting discrete graphics (and os autodetect off) in bios.
Starting Catalyst 9.4 (8.60 driver) ATI included switchable graphics in the drivers downloadable from their site. But unless you want to waste a lot of time -- stay with discrete graphics in bios.
Btw I tried the modded Catalyst 9.4 (8.60 driver) on my Vista 32 T500 but had terrible performance in OpenGL (not 3.0) so went back to my modded Catalyst 9.1 (8.57 driver*) which I have good performance with.

  • T400 - Integrated Intel Chipset - OpenGL support

We've had some new T400's delivered with just the integrated intel graphics.
Trying to install a Video client (Tandberg MOVI), I get an error that the system only supports OpenGL 1.1, whereas the client needs 1.2.  I've updated to the latest drivers - but still get the same error.
I've contacted Intel who told me to contact Lenovo - so thought I'd post on here.
I am running Windows 7 x64, any new drivers that anyone's aware of?  or a way to force the system to think it supports 1.2?
    Thanks.

    The Intel site states:
The integrated graphics controller of the Intel® G45/G43/G41/Q43/Q45 Express Chipsets and Mobile Intel® 4 Series Express Chipset Family supports hardware acceleration for OpenGL* applications in 16-bit and 32-bit color depths. The latest Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator drivers provide support for the OpenGL version 2.0.
However when I run my program, it states the system only supports 1.1 - I have updated to the latest drivers.

  • IdeaPad G780 OpenGL and PixelShader versions needed

    Hi,
I am currently looking to buy a replacement laptop, and the model I am interested in is the IdeaPad G780, M843KUK, Windows 7 (I absolutely do not want Windows 8).
A distributor has a number of suitable machines at a decent price, but before committing to buy one of those I absolutely need to know the OpenGL and Pixel Shader versions currently supported.
Those depend both from the GPUs (which define the absolute maximum possible, through their capabilities), and from the drivers, which define the actual maximum; Pixel Shader version is also limited by DirectX version, but OpenGL has no connection with DirectX.
That information is unknown to the distributors, unavailable on the website, and equally unknown to the assisted help on this website.
OpenGL version and/or Pixel Shader are critical requirements for most graphical applications, including games, and the new and future browser versions (due to HTML 5 and WebGL).
So, could anyone here provide me that information on that precise model?
There are technical tools which allow to find those values, for the machine the test is run on.

It has been a few days and nobody was answering the question...
That gave me the time to see that there are so many issues with Lenovo products, and existing customers are left without any support answers (most posts here seen to get no answer from Lenovo, or report issues which don't).
So I will just add Lenovo to the list of low quality brands I want nothing to do with; obviously support went to hell since IBM sold their former PCs branch a few years ago, and it went its own way under the name Lenovo,

    Hi Noel,
I tried the glview tool and it reports that the drivers are up to date and implement opengl 4.1 to 100%.
There were just these two remarks that look a bit off:
    No ICD registry entry
The current OpenGL driver doesn't expose the SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows (NT)/CurrentVersion/OpenGLDrivers registry entry. Unable to detect the driver version, driver revision name and filename.
    Few texture units found
This may slow down some applications using fragment programs or extensive texture mapping.
@chris cox: I have noticed in the discussion about hires screens that there seem to be quite a couple of other owners of that Lenovo notebook, and some of them say that they try to work with photoshop (by reducing screen resolution, using a registry hack, or a magifying class). So there must be something specific to this particular unit that causes problems. I fear I would not get much help from Lenovo there
