Lenovo 3000 N200 0769-ALU Dual Monitor Support

My nephew has a Lenovo 3000 N200 0769-ALU, downgraded from Vista to XP.  Does this notebook support Dual Monitor Extended Desktop configuration?  If so, how is this configured?
My nephew lives in a different city, so I am not able to just go over and lay w/ his machine.  I am familiar w/ the dual monitor support on my HP LapTop, but am not sure what to look for on the Lenovo.  Assistance is appreciated.

  • Lenovo 3000 N200 0769 BIOS problem

Hello everybody! I'm a new entry in the forum, but i am a 6 year old user of a Lenovo 3000 N200 (0769) and i am very happy with its services so far! However, after a format that i make, i saw a BIOS update for this model, so i decide to install it. But the result wasn't the οne that i wish for. My poor laptop now when i try to open i can see just a black screen and nothing else. Although, i can hear the fan and the LEDs of the AC, HDD are light up (HDD's led is off after while). The laptop has got Windows XP 32bit.
I think i must recover the old BIOS, but i would like to see your suggestions and anwsers first.
    Thank you.

    Hi LongBeacher,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
I’m sorry to hear that your N200 is displaying black screen when tried to turn ON after updating the BIOS, Remove the battery and any other peripheral device connected to the computer. Hold the power button for 10-15 seconds and then connect only the AC Adapter and try to turn ON the computer, check if the display is working also check if the computer display is working in External display.
If the issue persists even after performing the above step, I would Strongly Suggest Calling Technical Support for Assistance. Click here to open a link where you can select the country and get the exact contact support number. I’m sure they will be a great help.

  • Windows 10 on Lenovo 3000 N200 0769 RGB

hi all,  I dared to upgrade my old Lenovo 3000 N200 (0769 RGB) from (an already unsupported) Win7 to Win10.Everything works ok, only the video driver is some basic windows driver from 2006 and only supports 1024x800 resolution. It is a nvidia chip as far as I know (GeForce 7300) but nvidia does not support win10 for that chip it seems. I tried to use the latest driver from lenovo (vista 64) and it worked after installation but after reboot the screen stays black. Has anyone found a driver that works on this old laptop? thanks juba

    Hi,
This issue occurs typically on laptops.
This driver is for ACPI on your motherboard which controls different power modes.
First disable any sleep settings on your PC and do normal PC optimization.
In some cases disabling the ACPI Battery from within device manager also helps. This may disable the ability for the PC to charge the battery on a laptop.
If the issue persists,I suggest you perform the following steps to check the result.
1.Press Win+R, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
2.Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\ACPI\Parameters
Note If the Parameters subkey does not exist, right-click ACPI, point to New, and then click Key. Type Parameters as the subkey name, and then press ENTER.
3.Right-click the Attributes entry, and then click Modify.
Note If the Attributes entry does not exist, right-click Parameters, point to New, and then click DWORD value. Type Attributes as the entry name, and then press ENTER.
4.In the Edit DWORD Value dialog box, click Hexadecimal, type 100 in the Value data box, and then click OK.
    5.Quit Registry Editor.

  • Lenovo 3000 N200 (0769) | Windows 7 | What driver do I need?

    Hello,
fist of all I'd like to mention that I am german and consequently am not familiar with all the technical terms in their english incarnation. I am going to describe what I mean the best way I can.
Here's what happened: I fell victim to a virus the other day, which forced me to format my harddrive an reinstall Windows 7 Ultimate on my laptop, a Lenovo 3000 N200 (0769). All went smoothly exept for one thing: I can only choose between a solution of 800x600 and 1024x768. This is apperently due to my computer not beeing able to detect my graphics-device-card-thingy. I know it is in there however, because before i reinstalled Windows everthing was fine.
Assumably there is a driver missing. I tried to find out which one I it was by installing Everest and have it have a look at it, but a message popped up that Everest does not suport my particular laptop. And indeed there was no information it could give me concerning my graphic devices.
I wound greatly appreciate any help I could get.
    Thanks,
    Giles

please provide the device name or/and id. ( such as pci\ven_8086&dev_2929&subsys )

  • Lenovo 3000 N200 0769 A42 not booting anymore

    Hi,
We have a Lenovo 3000 N200 0769 A42 that is not booting anymore. Concretely, when the on/off button is pressed, the fan goes on for a few seconds, the HD led is switched on and the CDrom is running for a few second too, then nothing else, except the "On" led that remains switched on...
I tried this: http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-3000-and-Value-line/Help-How-to-reset-CMOS-on-3000-N200-model-076... to no avail.
I removed the keyboard and unplugged for one minute the only plug I found with red and black wires, to no avail either...
The computer seems dead... Any suggestion to reanimate it?
    Thanks in advance,
    Pierre

    Hi, Thank for the reply.
There is nothing displayed on the screen and no access to the Bios.
I did tried to reset the motherboard after having removed the AC power, the battery, the HD and the RAM (by short cutting two exposed metal traces labelled CLRP1 and by unplugging the battery cable found behind the keyboard. To no avail...
I realize that the url given in my first post does not work. Here it is:
    http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-3000-and-Value-line/Help-How-to-reset-CMOS-on-3000-N200-model-076...
Thanks again for the suggestion. Any other?

  • Lenovo 3000 N200 0769. Soon-to-be-doorstop unless...

    Hello.
New forum member.  I joined because I have been passed a Lenovo 3000 N200 0769 by one of my good customers (I look after all their IT).  My notes indicate that this was purchased January 2008.
The problem does not seem unique.  It will not start at all.  Pressing the power button and releasing it results in the power ‘z’ light to illuminate for a few seconds.  That is all.  No hint of the screen illuminating, no fan noise, no other action at all.  No accessories attached.
No BIOS updates have been applied (he would not know how).  The user is not a fiddler.  This PC is a tool for his job and the company relies on my business to look after these (computer) tools, rather than have their executives fiddle about.
I have tried it with battery only, with battery and mains unit, with mains unit only.  Nothing.
I have searched this forum and spent too long reading threads.  The only conclusion I have is that this is not an unusual problem and that (Murphy’s Law) it happens shortly after a twelve month warranty period expires.  The nearest suggestion is motherboard failure. Forlornly I tried to check the warranty, to see if it was longer than 12 months.  On the Lenovo warranty lookup page it returned an error with ‘document not found’ message – hmm…
Happily the data is backed up, which means the user does what he's asked!  Hopefully the HDD is OK, which gives me a tiny fragment of value.
Does anyone have any ideas how to rectify this problem?  Thus far my experience of Lenovo has not impressed.  This could be my last experience of Lenovo.  If there is no meaningful response I just don’t know what my thoughts will be.
    Please will someone help me?
    Thank you

    Hello.
Thanks for the fast reply and the suggestion.
When I press the orange button it has the same result as when pressing power button: brief illumination of green 'z' light and nothing.
I had already seen the suggestion about resetting CMOS and tried that, although it said it was the CLRP1 spot, opposite the modem.  Is there another spot by the RAM?  I can't see anything.
I've also removed the RAM and HDD - still no luck.
Any other suggestions will be very welcome.
    Thank you again.

  • Problem with Lenovo 3000 N200 0769 Laptop

    Hi all,
I'm new here and hope someone can tell me whats wrong with my Lenovo 3000 N200 0769. Two days ago I got up in the morning and turned on my laptop, it started and shut off about 3 seconds later. It does it every time I try to start. I was able to get the windows intro, and then could not sign in as the keyboard didn't work. When I unplugged the power cord it immediately shut off. Is it a Battery malfunction thats caused this or a Virus?  PLEASE I need some help here!! I googled it and on some other sites some said it was the Battery.  Thanks very much.
    Regards,
             Michael

Also, with the battery out and AC unplugged, press and hold the power button several times. Then, re-attach AC and try to start it up. You could go into BIOS and reload BIOS defaults (that's an option) save and exit. Try to start up normally again.
If the system boots up only part way, hangs, or shuts off then I would tend to think the fan & heatsink could be clogged. See this article on cleaning.
    http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-3000-and-Value-line/Lenovo-3000-Fan-amp-Heat-cleaning-N100-exampl...
The N200 is very similar to the N100 in this regard.
If the fan and heatsink are clean, I would check the battery - these systems don't like to run with just the AC. Try to see if it will start up from just battery with no AC, or start with battery in and AC, and then unplug AC. If it shuts off, then the battery is defective and should be replaced. Most of these, especially N100 seem to do much better with a good battery.
    Best regards,
    Mark

  • Lenovo 3000 N200 0769 ERG upgrade memory 1GB- 3GB only recognize 2GB

    I bought a Lenovo 3000 N200 0769 ERG with 1GB installed in first slot.
To get the system better work I wanted to expand the RAM.
As the spec's tell a maximum of 3GB should be possible.
    Thefore I added a 2GB mem-card.
I expected to see the I would have in total 3GB in use.
Now the system and BIOS tells that only 2GB is in use.
    I already checked:
    - startup with only 1GB works correct.
    - by adding the 2GB card the total value increased from 1 to 2 GB so the card is expected to be correct
       + systems works correct
    - only using the 2GB card gives problems, system doesnot recognize RAM at all.
On this forum I see some suggestions to place 2 x 2GB cards and Vista only recognizes 3GB.
Is someone aware that this may be a solution?
Does someone else have an other solution.
    Your help is very welcom.
    Thanks in advance.

Wow, thank you, what an awesome little tool!
So, I found that these 2 RAM products are compatible with my laptop:
    Part Number: CT758799
    Module Size: 2GB
    Package: 200-pin SODIMM
    Feature: DDR2 PC2-6400
    Specs: DDR2 PC2-6400 • CL=6 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR2-800 • 1.8V • 256Meg x 64 •
    Part Number: CT699699
    Module Size: 2GB
    Package: 200-pin SODIMM
    Feature: DDR2 PC2-5300
    Specs: DDR2 PC2-5300 • CL=5 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR2-667 • 1.8V • 256Meg x 64 •
I then went to a well-known auction site and found RAM cards from the same manufacturer with exactly the same specs as above but with different Part numbers. Does it have to be the exact part number or do I stand a good chance of it working if it has the required spec? I searched for the exact part numbers and yielded 0 results.

  • Lenovo 3000 N200 0769 Startup Problem

    Hello,
    I recently installed a new harddrive which is a Samsung HM251JJ 250GB 7200rpm
Before I inserted the new harddrive I disconnected the the power supply and akku as mentioned.
I started the Laptop and after the message mouse initialized the System hangs... So I have no chance to get the Boot Menu to install the Operating System...
First I thought, might be a problem with the harddisk itself but I've run a full harddrive scan with serveral tools also from Samsung itself but all reported that the haddrive should work fine...
Next thing I did was a Bios update to the newest available version, which does not solved the problem.
Another Idea I got was installing another harddrive this time also a Samsung with 250GB but instead of 7200rpm it had 5400rpm that drive worked fine...
So I wonder if the Lenovo 3000 N200 does not support harddrives with a speed of 7200rpm???
    best regards

I once had a "wake" key stuck on a keyboard, and the computer kept re-booting!
I thought maybe the "one touch restore" button, or one of the F key could
    be stuck partially down.
Your computer problem is very strange, have not heard of that one before.
    Sorry to be no help.

  • Lenovo 3000 N200 0769 - could I strap a Video Card on it?

    Hi there,
I know this question's been asked before, but I have not found an answer that's relevant to me. I have a 3000 N200 series, version 0769. the original Specs are: Windows Vista Home edition, CPU Intel Celeron 550 2.0 Ghz, 1GB RAM, 160 GB HDD, Onboard Video from the Intel 965M Chipset (64Mb dedicated).
Now, from the original specs, I've upgraded to another 1 GB RAM (identical) and an Intel T7100 Dual-core 1.8 Ghz CPU, and I'm now running Windows 7 32-bit. The reason I've upgraded to the T7100 is because I've seen a variant of the N200 with this CPU.
My question is: Do I have the capability to upgrade my graphics card? I know that some of the 0769 variants have antoher version of the graphics card, I think a 256 MB GeForce. Could I get anything like that up on mine ? Or have I hit the wall when it comes to upgrades?
Please help me, I need a better graphics performance ASAP (work stuff). Also, I don't have the cash for a new notebook (possibly a new motherboard and/or Graphics Card, but no more than that).
    Thank you!!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Well, you can't upgrade graphics without swapping the
motherboard for one with Nvidia graphics, which also
had a different heatsink setup to handle extra heat from
GPU. So I doubt a swap would work without modification.
Used motherboard swaps, IMO, are not cost effective.
Ram could go up to 4 GB, with 3 being a good compromise,
and cpu to Core 2 Duo T7500, which would be too minor
a boost over T7100, unless you can find one Cheap.
Probably other cpus that were added later also.
My opinion? Put the money towards a good used laptop
    with the specs you need/want.
Oh, and the weak bios? There are some bios modding communities
out there, but that is a high risk adventure! See this post for an example:
