Lenovo EE Boot Optimizer U410

Hi I was just wondering about a few things.
I recieved my U410 and I noticed that i couldnt find the Lenovo EE Boot Optimizer that came with my U400.  Is there support for the U410 for the boot optimizer?
Also the U410 has two hard drives - a solid state drive and a hard drive.  I noticed that windows was installed to the hard drive which means that the computer boots from the hard drive rather than the solid state.  Is there a  reason for this?

The U410 has a 32gb mSATA SSD. In the default configuration, it is used as a cache drive (and being SSD, this ofcourse is superfast cache.). This is being done with Intel Rapid Storage technology.
To further elaborate on a 32gb ssd; it effectively has about 29gb of useable space after a format. For a regular Windows 7 install, incl the Lenovo apps (+temporary files), this would barely be sufficient. This is why it is also not reccomended to install Windows on the small SSD. (also i believe fully used capacity means worse performance and more wear/tear for an SSD)
About the EE Boot Optimizer, you can find it in the Software & Utility part of the U410 driver page;

  • G770 won't boot normally or in safe mode... I suspect it has something to do with the boot optimizer

My Lenovo G770 will not boot in normal or safe mode.  I usually escape out of the boot optimizer.  Today I let it run and it went to the "starting windows" screen with a brief startup of the windows 7 animation...it freezes for a second, then a quick flash of the bsod, then to the "windows error recovery page" giving me the option of "starting windows normally" or "Launch Startup Repair (recommended)."
Starting Windows Normally eventually brings me back to the same place repeating what I just stated above paragraph.
When I launch the Startup Repair it "Cannot repair this computer automatically".
So I go to view advanced options for system recovery and support.
It brings me to 5 options:
Startup Repair (we already tried this above)
System Restore (unfortunately I didn't create any restore points)
System Image Recovery (unfortunately I haven't created an image to recover)
Windows Memory Diagnostic (no problems found-done several times)
Command Prompt (don't know what I can do here except for remove a bad/corrupted driver which may be the problem, but I don't know the driver name that is associated with the boot optimizer...can anyone tell me this?)
I've tried booting to safe mode in all of its incarnations and I can't even do that..it repeats the same things as stated above...windows 7 animation briefly starts then locks up, flash of bsod, then the windows error recovery page.
I've tried booting to last known good configuration (same thing occurs...brief startup of windows 7 animation, freeze, flash of bsod, then error recovery page.
The only thing that has given me any kind of result was "disabling system restart on system failure."  When I do this, the BSOD doesn't flash briefly..it stays. and it gives me the error message page_fault_in_nonpaged_area.
I'm at a loss as to what to do.  Not being able to boot into Safe Mode even is really frustrating.  Any advice from anyone?  can I remove the driver associated with the boot optimizer?  If so, what is the name of the driver and where (directory) is it located?

How did you resolve the issue?
I have the exactly same issue.
When I go System Image Recovery -->Select System Image-->Advanced->I can open all the drives [:Local Drive(C , LENOVO(D, Local Disk(E, Boot(X-where i think executable booting is here]. It comes with an Open prompt asking me to enter File Name with a File type: Setup Information.
I don't know which setup information and where to find it on my Drives.
    Anyone know how to fix?
I was trying to re-install Win 7 from DVD but it is not executing either.
Can I boot with USB Ubuntu and Install Win 7 from there??? but how?
    Need help?

  • Boot optimizer abort caused windows 7 problem on my G780

During a boot optimizer start-up, I pushed esc to abort the boot optimizer.  Now my G780 will not start windows 7 - it goes to the "will try to fix automatically" screen, but cannot fix the problem and is stuck.  I've tried everything that a similar post from last year mentioned, but nothing works.  Help.

Restart the computer. As soon as you see anything on the screen repeatedly press the F8 button until it starts beeping. You should see a list of how you want to boot windows. Select boot to the last known good configuration and hit enter.
If that does not work, let us know all that you have tried to fix this. Saying that you tried everything in a similar post from last year is just a bit vague. We need better information to help you better.

  • Lenovo G580 boot menu is not working when pressing F2 and F12 key

QuestionI bought a new Lenovo G580 series laptop. After installation of Windows 7 Ultimate x64 bit edition, a problem revealed when Lenovo driver get installed.
When I installed Intel HD 3000 graphics driver and restarted laptop, the Window was unable to start normally. It displayed an error, so a recovery program started which was recommended. But this program failed to resolve the problem. Later, I tried again to load Windows normally but the blue screen fatal error showed up.
I attempted to reinstall Windows again, but after restarting window, the boot menu was not showing up after pressing F12 key. F2 key was also not working either.
I spoke to a Lenovo techincal assistance expert and they suggested me to remove battery and charger and press start key for 30 seconds.
My problem still remains the same, and I am unable to access boot menu.
The bios version is  62cn34ww. ls there a way I can get this running again?
AnswerPlease take note that the suggestion below is just a troubleshooting guide. If the steps could not fix the issue, you need to send you machine in for service for further assistance.
Try removing the hard disk , then press F2 button to enter BIOS
If you are successful in entering the bios, pleaes load set up defaults
Save setting by pressing F10 and shut the machine down
Connect the hard drive back and check if can enter BIOS via F2 and F12 to see boot menu

(about a month ago) came accross my windows disc & was going to see if I could boot from it (wouldn't from the pasword unlocker i downloaded) Anyhow, i evidently have a password to enter bois setup which i attempted to "guess"  baaad idea.  i am now looking at Fatal Error.....System halted on my Lenovo H430 desktop.   how do i proceed without doing any damage???    HELP...

  • Lenovo recovery boot screen

    Hi,
I just downgraded to XP Pro (dual boot with Windows 7) my N200 0769, erasing recovery partition with Vista and re-partitioning HD. All is working perfectly, but there is the Lenovo recovery screen when I boot the laptop. Obviously I can't recover it more (and I wouldn't be fool enough to re-load all that bloatware even if I could), so how to get rid of that screen now, it is getting on my nerves
Please help me with that who can
    Thanks.

  • Lenovo g500s boot from DVD doesn't work

So i had installed windows 7 with the lenovo g500s purchase, yet i recently bought windows 8. Problem is, when i put my disk into the drive and change the boot priority to the drive it loads windows 7 instead of boot disc.

    Hi Con,
          Welcome to the forums,
I suggest you go into the BIOS boot menu (F12) and select your DVD drive then boot from there it should help out

  • Lenovo G550 boot up

    Hello mates,
I am using the Lenovo G550. It is brand new. i uninstalled the Vista and setup XP SP3 on it. Everything works fine but takes a HELL lot of time to boot up. Also when I uninstalled Vista and installed XP, I wanted to change the drives and paritions but somehow it does not let me format C: drive, so I had to install XP on another drive. Please help. I am a new member in this forum so it will take time until I understand how things work here so please forgive my mistakes. Thanks for paying attention to my problem.
    Hoping for a quick reply

    When you state:
"so I had to install XP on another drive"
do you mean another partition on the existing drive,
or replaced the drive with another physical drive?
There is a hidden service partition on the drive
which xp setup will not delete. You should find software
to "zero" the drive (totally erase by writing zeros)
and then you can create partitions when you run the XP install.
Of course, if you zero the drive your recovery partition will
also be gone, but it is probably unuseable now anyhow.
Once you get a clean XP install, with no partitions other than
what YOU create, boot time should improve.

  • Restoring Lenovo BMGR boot manager

I recently installed Linux on my T430 to dual boot with Windows 7 64-bit. I later learned that when Linux installs GRUB, it overwrites the boot loader within the MBR, and the boot loader for the T430, named BMGR, is specific to the ThinkPad. I would appreciate any help on how I might restore the BMGR boot loader, if possible.
Complicating this issue is the fact that I also installed a clean version of Windows 7, and I cannot find the file bmgr32.exe (which from other resources I've read seems necessary). I did this prior to installing Linux.
Why I need to do this: I have learned that I need the BMGR in order to install Lenovo's Rescue & Recovery software (Otherwise you get the error: "Error 25014..... Return code: 6" during installation.)  I would like to burn the Lenovo Recovery partition to disc and remove it to free up a partition for a shared data partition for Linux and Windows (The T430 came with 3 primary partitions: SYSTEM, Windows 7, and Lenovo Recovery). Thus, my need to restore the BMGR.
    Thanks for the help.
    - Ben

Unless I have an explanation as to why, I'm going to keep trying. From my understanding, restoring the BMGR will make this possible, as my Lenovo_Recovery partition has not been altered on my machine. Possibly this is done with bmgr32.exe? If so, is Lenovo willing to pass that executable along to its customers in the case that the customer has accidentally removed it, such as mine?

  • Lenovo Y510P Boot Failure Error

I have a Y510P which is less than six months old and I have been fighting a losing battle with it over the last couple of months.
    Whilst I am very pleased with its construction and performance, when in use it has started crashing, ever more frequently leaving a blue screen with the error message;
efi network 0 for ipv (28-d2-44-5d-4c-29) boot failed
If turned off and on again, it will reboot and work but anything between an hour an 24hours, it will crash again.
I have read and tried a couple of the suggested fixes on this forum such as making sure that the HDD is seated correctly and ,making sure that the BIOS is reading the HDD (which is is at the point of booting up but obviously it drops it at some point).
Is there anything else I should be trying before I assume a HDD fault and contact customer services?
Thanks in advance for your help!

    hi paullacey,
    Welcome to the Forums.
From youro observation, it's possible that there's a problem with the HDD or its connection to the SATA port on the motherboard.
    Things that you can try:
    1. When you get the efi network 0 for ipv (28-d2-44-5d-4c-29) error, try to boot right away in the BIOS and check if the HDD is detected.
    2. Check the lenovo Individual Diagnostic Tools and run a Storage and Motherboard test and post the results here.
      - Sample image
If you get errors on one of the tests above, I recommend you contact lenovo and report your findings as you may need to send the unit for service.

  • Lenovo G580 boot from DVD

I have a Lenovo G850 with Win8 on it and want to dual boot it with Linux Mint. I've created the Mint DVD but can't get the laptop to boot from it. I've turned off UEFI, moved the DVD above the HDD in the boot priority but nothing. The actual boot menu where you choose a device to boot from doesn't even show the DVD drive to be able to boot from it.
    Can anyone help?

    hi richclever,
That's a weird problem you got there. If the ODD is detected under BIOS, have you tried to:
    1. Reset the BIOS to default settings by pressing F9, then F10 to save the settings and try to launch the boot manager again by pressing F12 during startup and see if the ODD selection is there.
    2. Tried to boot the linux mint DVD that you burned into another PC
    3. Tried to use a different burning software like imgburn to burn the Linux Mint iso.
    4. Tried another bootable DVD to see if it can boot from it.
If the above procedure doesn't work and your bootable linux mint dvd works on a different PC, there might be a problem with the ODD lense.
You might be interested in creating a bootable linux mint usb.
    Hope this helps.

  • Lenovo H500s stuck at Lenovo logo boot loop

I've never had an easy use with this PC eversince I purchased it. It first rejected Windows 7 to be installed due to BIOS incompatibility which I had been warned before. I flashed the new BIOS version shared across the forum that worked for some people, it worked for me too.

Then just yesterday when I turned it on, it went into Lenovo logo for few seconds then restarted. It kept repeating the boot loop before I ran the power down to shut it completely. Already ran a system diagnose but found nothing. This already occurred before when I had to perform a windows fresh reinstallation for a constant fix, it runs normally for couple of weeks till yesterday when the problem came back.

Any ideas on what to do in this situation ?

    Hi Warnbroom,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community!
As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with system stuck at Lenovo logo in your Lenovo H500s laptop.
Try to remove the hard drive(HDD) and check for the issue if the system is able to boot to BIOS.
Hope this helps. Do post back if issue persists!
    Best regards,

  • Lenovo Twist Boot time

Hi I have Lenovo Twist with preinstalled 8.1 and it takes 10 min just to come to the windows screen. It seems stuck on Lenovo page that is loading something. Boot priority devices are:
    1. Windows boot manager
    2. HDD SSD
When I perform hardware scan all devices pass the tests. Is there any possibility to speed up? What is going on during that Lenovo screen? Can someone explain?

I have the same issue with my Lenovo Twist which I recently got about a week ago. Not sure what caused it and already pinpointing it to the most recent update. Any help would be appreciated!

  • Lenovo G570 boot disk

ok so iv had my computer for 2 years and its been great, but my nephew got a hold of it and now its a disaster
iv got no dvd drive at all
    the recovery partition is gone
he destroyed the discs i had for it
    and windows wont update anymore
i really dont know what else to do, does anyone know of anyway to get the windows install files back or if i can download them from lenovo
    thanks

    hi keith2012,
    Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.
    Just to verify:
Did the machine came preloaded with Win7?
When you run Windows Update, are you getting any error messages (eg. 0x800f081f)?
When you said "the recovery partition is gone", do you mean the partition was deleted and it's no longer under disk management?
     - Link to picture
If you have a preloaded Win7 OS and you're planning to re-install it then you will need to contact lenovo on how to go about getting a recovery disc (shipping fees may apply) as the factory image (.iso) is not available online.
Alternatively, you can follow this guide on how to create a bootable Windows 7 USB installer. When finished, you can boot from that USB installer by pressing F12 on startup to install a fresh copy of Windows. From here, you can use the Windows 7 product at the bottom of the unit to activate Windows
    Note:
This will only work if you have a preloaded copy of Windows 7 with a COA sticker). If successful, you can then download and install the drivers from the G570 drivers page to finish things up.
