Lenovo G580(20157) [Win 7] Bluetooth problems??

I have a lenovo G580(20157) which has a BCM4313 wireless chipset which supports both WiFi as well as Bluetooth, (citation here: Broadcom Chipsets)
However I can't use the Bluetooth capability of my chipset.....
I tried downloading drivers from the Lenovo website(Drivers Main Page), but it would say no driver found at the end of the installation!!
Also I downloaded Lenovo Energy Managment, and it only shows WiFi (here is a screenshot)
I also tried downloading Broadcom Bluetooth Solution but itis stuck at detetcting device:
P.S: I have a new windows 7 installation...Thanks
Solved!

hi ArchKudo,
Looking at the G580 parts (page 102 of the HMM), the Broadcom BCM4313 that the machine uses is a Wi-Fi only card .
  - Link to picture
  - Sample item (BCM4313 with Bluetooth)
  - Sample item (BCM4313 Wi-FI only)
This may explain why you only see the Wi-Fi settings when you press Fn+F5, In this case, you may need to use a usb bluetooth adapter (like this item) to enable bluetooth functionality on the machine.

  • Lenovo G580(20157) won't shut down [Windows 7]

    Problem:
    I have a Lenovo G580(20157) with Windows 7(64-bit),
My BIOS version is 62CN40WW (Phoenix MoBo), and I have a problem with my laptop even though it works and boots up fine it won't shutdown!!
    Troubleshooting:
    I have tried the following:
1.Do Hardware test - No errors.
    2.Reflash BIOS. - Still won't shutdown
3.Do a clean boot. (I believe it is a BIOS issue but I still did it anyways...)
4.Used the boot utility provide at your website but it still doesn't shutdown even in Linux, it is stuck at shutdown message (Arch Linux/Open Suse)
    5.Disabled UEFI
And all other quick hacks like pressing shift and shutdown, disable BIOS options like  redoing steps 1-5 etc, etc................
P.S:I have a dual-boot system (Windows + nix) with Legacy boot enabled if it matters. Thanks!

    hi ArchKudo,
    Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.
Can you consider doing the following:
    1. Turn off the machine and remove the HDD
        - Video Disassembly Guide (see FRU Videos)
    2. Boot from a live Windows or Linux disc/usb (see this guide for Ubuntu and select Try Ubuntu)
    3. After booting from a live disc/usb, see if you can shutdown the machine.
If the computer turns off properly, try to put the HDD back in place and consider running another scan on the HDD using HD Tune.
If you get a warning or any errors on the Health Tab / Error Scan Tab then it's likely that you have a failing HDD and
you may need to contact lenovo for warranty service or replace the entire HDD.

    I see now,
Your system's Intel Wireless software is left but the.
Wireless Device is not being detected.
That atheros there is your Cabled connection and not the wireless
        Your wireless should be Intel.
    Can you try
Booting into BIOS By turning OFF your Computer.
Turn it back on and right away start tapping F2.
you should be able to boot to this screen
Now go to Configuration tab and make sure the Wirelesss LAN is enabled. then hit F10 To Save the settings and Exit
IF ever it is already Enabled,   Disable it and Re enable it then save the settings.
Make sure to save before going out of BIOS, it should work.

  • Lenovo G580 20157 but no HDMI port?

    Hello,
My brother has recently purchased a Lenovo G580 laptop from New World in Menlyn, Pretoria, South Africa (http://www.newworldmenlyn.co.za)
According to the advertised specs (http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/essential/g-series/g580/index.html#techspecs) and the PDF manual that came with the laptop, this model should definitely have an HDMI port right next to the two USB ports on the left side, as well as Bluetooth connectivity, however neither are present.
Prior to purchasing from New World he looked at a demo model (the same one) at another store (Incredible Connection - http://www.incredible.co.za) which DID have an HDMI port and Bluetooth.
As such we are worried that he might have purchased a gray market, refurbished or fake unit.
When checking the warranty status (with serial number) at http://support.lenovo.com/en_ZA/product-service/warranty-status/default.page?, the warranty shows "active", though.
The laptop's touchpad is also extremely unreliable, to the point of being impossible to use without causing MAJOR frustration. We tried updating to the latest Windows 8 touchpad drivers and played with all the settings in the ELAN drivers, as well as the default Windows trackpad settings, but nothing helped.
Please can someone from Lenovo confirm whether this laptop should in fact have an HDMI port, Bluetooth, and a trackpad that works (I will provide the serial nr. in a PM upon request), and what we should do to rectify this problem.
    Appreciate any help.

Sorry but I can't relate that 20157 number to the 8-digit numbers in the 3book
Perhaps it's an international model that isn't in the 3book.  Hopefully someone else will join the conversation and shed some light.
I can say (again) that there are non-bluetooth non-HDMI G580 machines listed so I don't think yours is somehow missing those features "by mistake" from the factory.  More likely your retailer just didn't represent the laptop correctly

  • Win 7 Bluetooth problems with N958gb

Hi, I'm new to these forums, hope some one can advise.
Briefly my 95 8gb is about 3 years old now and it's a great phone for me, some niggles but great none the less.
I have always updated my phone via the Nokia software suite via my PC using XP home and have had no problems updating the latest phone firmware when needed.
There are no more firmware updates for my phone, the latest version installed is 20.0.016,  I also use Nokia PC suite  to make  back ups of my phone contents, to my PC, again no problems, under Windows XP home.
I have just installed the new RC version of Win 7 and getting to grips with that and along the way discovering which software or existing applications will run on/with the new OS, so far not that many problems and Win 7 has XP mode/virtulisation, a very good application but something to be wary of IMO.
I have downloaded the most recent Nokia PC suite on WIN 7 version 7.1.26.0 but am running into problems.
The 1st being clicking on the Nokia updater it can not find my phone regardless of what USB port I have the cable plugged in to on the PC. I am wondering if that's because there are no more updates to be had for my phone but usually a window would appear informing you your phone has the latest updates, this is no happening, it can't find my phone.
What I do get sometimes is a window informing me some Bluetooth peripheral is missing or can't be found, basically there are some drivers missing, If I try to update these drivers, I can't boxes are grayed out.
The next problem and I guess connected to the above and a lot more troublesome for me is I use my phone a lot as a camera and upload my pictures using a Belkin Bluetooth dongle, never had a problem until today, I can not get the N95 to recognize or connect to the dongle or vice versa under WIN 7, I cannot transfer a photo from my phone to my PC using Bluetooth, the phone informs me of a failed connection.
The dongle firmware has been updated.
Not a problem I thought, I'll install andI run the original dongle software and the original Nokia PC suite software in XP mode,( which is XP pro ), nothing doing, I'm running in to the same brick wall and problem.
This has surprised me a bit as everything worked great under my old OS, XP Home.
Where does the problem lay, can I get the N95 8gb bluetooth to run under WIN 7 or XP mode?

I'm using my Nokia N95-8GB on a HP Pavilion notebook with Windows 7 RC installed and it works fine so I can confirm there are no compatibility issues.
The only difference is that I'm using the embedded Bluetooth module instead of an external dongle (maybe this is the problem).
BTW, latest firmware for our mobile is v31, v20 is very old

  • Network Controller G580 (20157) - Unknown Device

    Hi,
I have bought this Lenovo G580 (20157) laptop 2 years back. I had formatted my Laptop last night and installed Windows 7 Ultimate 32 Bit. Then i downloaded all the drivers from Lenovo Website. The Problem here is After installing all the drivers my Device Manager shows this YELLOW ICON as UNKNOWN DEVICE - NETWORK CONTROLLER. I tried all available options like trying to update the driver manually but still i am unable to find any solutions. I would really appreciate your effort on this which will be very helpful.

    hi kalhemhtc,
    Welcome to the Forums.
Can you try one of these drivers:
    Windows 7 - G580 (model 2689, 20157)
    Wireless LAN Driver (CyberTan, Liteon) for Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit) - G580 (2689, 20157)
    Intel Wireless LAN Driver for Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit) - G580 (2689, 20157)
If the above drivers doesn't work, can you follow this guide on how to identify the network controller from its hardware ID.

    hi Arczi_Ghost,
    Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.
From the first video, it looks like there's a problem with the Windows Loader or a system file that's needed to load but fails. Since you already re-installed Windows, this is most likely not an OS issue.
    - Windows 7 Boot Process
From the second video, the flickering can be with the display (LCD) or wit hthe GPU / GPU driver. It's a bit early to tell without running some tests.
If you manage to boot Windows, can you try the following:
    1. Install Lenovo Solutions Center and run a full hardware scan on the PC.
2.. Alternatively, you can also manually install the following and run a quick test on the unit.
    - Lenovo Video Quick Test
    - Lenovo Motherboard Bus Quick Test
    - Lenovo Memory Test
    - Lenovo Storage Quick Test
    Edt: Fixed the links

  • Lenovo g580 2189 driver install problem

    I have a lenovo g580 with windows 8
when i try to install drivers i get some errors, any driver with other error:
smart audio hd with dolby-  failure with non reason'
    tuchpad ealn....-"ask for dspint package"
i download all the drivers from lenovo official web and i have energy mangement for windows 8
one more problem is in "fn" function,i dont see any fn function in the screen (no wifi,bluetooth,tuchpad,camera....)
only music. when i touch fn+f5 to turn off/on wifi the system shows on "airplane mode".
    thanks

finally did it!!!! i had the same problem and now it works!
you first install the driver, and will tell no driver found ..., then go in C:\drivers\Bluetooth Driver (CyberTan, Liteon)\Broadcom\Win64   and execute Inst.exe and let it install all what it needs, don't press anything. if it still not works try install the same exe after activating bt with fn+f5.
win64 is for the one who have 64bit and I think that win32 will work for the one who have 32bit.
le: I have win7, i think it works the same for win8.. try it..
le2: and something else, I disabled UEFI from bios. I don't know if this is important, but it works for me with UEFI disabled.

    Hi Amit,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
I’m sorry to hear that your G580 Laptop is not booting to Windows after updating the BIOS, I suggest you to Access the BIOS and change the “SATA Controller mode” to resolve the issue, below are the steps to change the settings:
To enter BIOS setup utility, press F2 when the Lenovo logo appears on the screen while the computer is starting up.
Now under “Configuration” Tab click on SATA controller mode and change the option to “Compatible”.
Now press “F10” Key then YES to save the changes made in BIOS.
The computer will automatically re-start, check the issue.
Do post us back if the issue still persists.
    Best Regards

  • Lenovo G580 - Beep Code (Problem)

    Hello.
I have problem with my laptop Lenovo G580.
I buy this laptop 3 months ago without systems. I have system Win 7 32-bit and 64-bit.
Now i ahve problems with laptops and warranty service.
Laptop turns on normally sometimes and sometimes not. ( If problems shows, i cut the power off, remove battery wait for few sec, and turn on, sometimes i must do it 3 times)
It often happens that the computer will not boot just beeps.
The video below, also sometimes blink window.
    Link 1: http://youtu.be/e_fbWrL0ZHs
    Link 2: http://youtu.be/woviKyV7JdI
I thought that it is the fault of the firmware so I reinstalled Windows from 64-bit to 32-bit. It did not work. Flashing window appeared even when installing on a clean drive( second link, window blink on the beginning video), so I think it is rather not the fault of the firmware just the laptop PC hardware.
I sent the laptop with cinematics to warranty service and wrote back to me that "after many hour tests, there was no problem" reset bios, swapped RAM and sent him back to me.
Already two times I sent the laptop to them. Can you advise me what the problem is? What i can do to solve problem? Sorry for language mistakes. If need more information ples write in this topic.
    Please help.
