Lenovo Q180

I have bought recently the Lenovo Q180 and i have a strange issue with displaying picture over HDMI port. I'm having windows 7 installed on it and from time to time looks like my Lenovo is loosing picture on hdmi and tv shows the black screen, and after 10 secs picture is there again. I was trying with Video card adjustment both no luck still.
I'm having samsung 40" LCD and it is FullHD,
BTW i'm using xbox 360 on same TV and those blackouts never occured on hdmi port, i've also tried to change port and cable but again no luck.
Can anyone from support help
Thanks in advance

  • Lenovo IdeaCentre Q180 3110-2NU BIOS

Hello, I flash my lenovo Q180 3110-2NU BIOS with AFUDOS and get hardbrick.
I did backup BIOS (using Aptio AFUDOS 4.53) before flash BIOS.
So then for repair: I flash my BIOS flash chip on programmator with backup BIOS, but nothing helps.
There is no any full BIOS dump in public access, I have no Lenovo support and service centers in my country, other repair service centers refuse to repair my lenovo Q180, they told, that there is no Lenovo Q180 3110-2NU BIOS dump.
Please, could you share Lenovo Q180 3110-2NU BIOS dump?

There is and app call something like wflash2.exe, you can use with windows.
    like this wflash2 /Logo:Logo.bmp
Create a square black in Paint and save as logo.bmp and flash it.
    Logo gone....

  • Q180 not turning off sometimes

Hi, I have a problem with Lenovo Q180 running on windows 7 x64. When I click to turn off computer - sometimes it won't turn off. System shows that computer is turning off - after while it looks like computer is turned off correctly (there is no video signal) but the white power button light indicates that computer is still running (I can also still hear it is running).
When this sometimes happened I had no other option - I could only plug it off electricity. It did not react on anything.
Thank you very much for any help
    Lada

Check to see if you have the lastest firmware. Should be at 1.1. This additional feature may have been introduced with the firmware.
Another option is to restore the Nano.

  • How to connect my Lenovo IdeaCentre Q180 pc to my TV?

    Hi
I have recently bought the above system...The main attraction for me was to link the pc to my tv to watch iplayer etc, but I am having probs with that!  When I spoke to the Support Centre, the guy said my TV (Goodman Digi Model LD2661HDFVT) is not internet-enabled, and I needed an HDMI cable, which I've now got and have just connected to the pc and the tv.  But the pc doesn't seem to have picked up the new device and I'm not sure how to install it?  On the tv screen, there is a blank lenovo screen, but nothing else....
Any ideas how to kickstart the connection into action much appreciated!  I have the hand-held portable MultiMedia Remote with Keyboard....
    Thanks in anticipation!

    hi Andaluciagirl,
In addition to what seayman have suggested, the 'connect to a projector' option can also be triggered by pressing the Windows logo key‌ +P. You will then see this image:
Try to choose Duplicate or Second Screen only and observe. If you're not getting the image above, try to:
    1. connect the Q180 to a PC monitor via a VGA cable (see spoiler for the connection on the Q180)
    Spoiler (Highlight to read)
    2. press Windows logo key‌ +P > choose Duplicate or Second Screen only
    3. remove the VGA cable and attach the HDMI cable
From there, the TV should be the main screen and you should see the icons, the taskbar, etc.
    Let me know your findings
    Regards

Hi theodoor, welcome to the forums,
I'm not personally aquainted with the Q180, but I had a look in the BIOS simulator and I'm pretty sure the function you're looking for is available in BIOS.
Please see attached picture, (too big to post), it will open in the same window so please click your browser back button to return to this site.

  • Q180 and Windows 8 Upgrade

Has anyone given Windows 8 and try on a Q180?  I want to since I only use the Q180 as an HTPC and the Windows 8 interface seems like it would be pretty awesome for a display such as a big screen TV.  Just wondering if there's any issues out there right now with it.....  Thanks in advance for any input!

  • Q180 and Windows XP

    Hi
I am not able to install my Windows XP Professional SP3 (original oficial CD - no crack or warez!) usin USB bootable instalation (as my Q180 configuration comes without DVD drive). I have preinstalled Windos 7 HP but I didn't like it so I decided to do my WinXP instalation but everytime I try it it ends up after a while uppon initialization process of the instalation in BSOD with code error 0x0000007B (0xF78D2524, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000) which should be problem with the HDD MODE set to AHCI so one needs to set it to IDE, but in the BIOS there is only ID Emode so it should be OK...can anyone tell me what is wrong here? I also formated whole internal 500GB HDD but no success, still the BSOD (see, I know I lost my Windows 7 that comes with it but I really do not need and do not want it cos it is really bad OS from my point of view + besides I have my Windows XP SP3 that I really love and since there are official drivers for WinXP on Lenovo site for this model I was 100% sure that there will be no problem at all...but oh boy I was so wrong!). I even further disable all periferies (except USB) in the BIOS, no success, again the BSOD - ANY HELP, PLEASE? :-(((

  • Q180: Slow download speeds even slower then upload speed?

Just looking for answers. I have recently brought a Q180, using it wifi upstairs. And I just upgraded to a DOCSIS 3.0 modem gateway (Moto SBG 6580) I have Charter as my IP I pay for data plus 30 Mbps download. My son's laptop, my HP laptop and my Mac book (used up stairs) all seems to have benefited from the upgraded modem. Showing 20-25 Mbps. Charter provides a webpage (speedtest.charter.com) to test your up/download speeds. The Q180 shows an average of 4 Mbps! And uploads of avg. 6 Mbps!? Q180 shows 811.N as selected and full signal strength of 54 Mbps?
Where could the chocking be coming from? How can I fine tune the Q? Any help would be really appreciated

that website for testing is crap i have tested mine and i get http://speedtest.ookla.com/result/1593897921.png 20mb down and 3.5mb up and i am on 50mb down and 5mb up
try something like speedtest.net and also do a pingtest.net
even speedtest shows my speed as 35mb and 4mb a little better but i am in the uk

  • Q180 will not connect to TV

Hi I can not get my Q180 to connect to any TV via the HDMI cable.  I have tried different HDMI cables and different TVs but there is no signal. The only way I can connect is via the VGA and therefore have no sound. Any help would be of great assistance.  Thanks

Ref: "if you have the current amd gfx card drivers installed right click the red ball with grey balls around it next to clock mine has 1 to 6 on it and 2-6 are the only ones i can extend try that"
No, Intel display adapter not AMD in my Lenovo Q190 so unfortunately the above not applicable.
Ref: "if not right click your desktop goto screen resolution then click detect to look for your tv (tv must be on and on the right source)"
Yeah, there's never beena problem detecting my LCD TV. It finds that without problem.
Ref: "another thing to try is in the bios look for display or gfx card settings and select a diff option like scan/auto or hdmi"
Double checked in the BIOS, but couldn't find anything relevant to the display settings. So no joy there unfortunately.
But thanks for taking the time to suggest possible things to try. Appreciate any help.
It's getting a little annoying now when I realise the amount of time that I have spent tinkering and tweaking trying to get my Lenovo Q190 to communicate with my Toshiba Smart TV via HDMI. Not completely sure whether the fault (if it is a fault) lies with Lenovo, with my Toshiba TV or whether it is incompatibility between the two. The fact that Lenovo make a distinct point about ensuring that the refresh rate is set to below 60Hz, in the instruction booklet, convinces me that this is more than probable where the problem lies - especially as the refresh rate is set exactly at 60 Hz on  mine and one that I am, at present, unable to reduce permanently. I can only presume that some protection circuitry is employed to shut down the HDMI output if, and whenever, it detects that the 'refresh rate' is set at 60Hz or higher. The problem is that if this is the case then it's a bit of a catch22 chicken and egg situation. If the protection is activated and there is no display, how do you adjust the refresh rate to below 60 Hz? Wiered!
As GJST has the same problem it would seem to suggest the problem lies with Lenovo. I see he's decided to return his to Lenovo. I may have to do the same eventually, if I cannot get it to work. Either that or I will have to use VGA and sort another cabe out for the audio - which is why I wanted to use HDMI, ie: just one neat cabe. Anyone know whether Lenovo support is any good? I might give them a ring/email and see if they have any suggestions.

    hi TheGreig,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
Can you try booting the system in Safemode an check if it can boot there with no issues.
    Windows 7
Pressing F8 when you power on the computer should giveyou the option to boot into Safemode.
    Windows 8
if your computer cannot boota series of failed boot should give you the same Option to boot into Safemode.
    Let me know your findings

  • IdeaCentre Q180 Low Framerate, Chocking with Flash Video, Hulu, etc.

    Hi,
I just got the latest IdeaCentre Q180 (with 4GB RAM) and I'm disappointed that I have to spend so much time on installing drivers and configuring the system :-(
    The problem:
Playing high-res DivX videos with VLC or Windows Media Player works perfectly.
HOWEVER, playing Flash-based videos such as HULU or Amazon Prime Videos result in noticeable low framerates. It is not a start and stop behavior that you have when you bandwidth is low. Actually the videos are fully buffered.
It is more like a low framerate - such as playing 3D games on a slow machine.
The CPU usage is only around 20-30%.
The Lenovo box is hooked with a HDMI cable to a TV.
    What I tried:
I tried to deactivate and activate hardware accellaration in Flash without any difference.
    Installed latest ATI Catalyst drivers
Installed latest Realtek wireless drivers (otherwise I had no stable Wifi connection)
    Updated Windows 7

Obviously I'm not the only one with the issue:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/4258364
I'm wondering what Lenovo has to say?! Anyone else has low fps?

  • Q180 reinstall on an SSD - have I done something wrong??

I recently swapped out the hard drive in my Q180 for a 64GB Crucial M4 SSD but I'm having problems getting the graphics card to be recognised as the HD7450 that it is - device manager keeps telling me that the GPU is a "6400 Series" card!?!?!?
I've tried using the graphics card drivers on the Lenovo website but all I get then is a "Standard VGA" in device manager and it wont let me select higher than 1440 resolution so when I went to the AMD website, the drivers it tells me are for the 7450 but they show up as the 6400!?!?
    Am I missing something here???
    Thanks.....

    hi stevep94,
Accessing the hidden partition is very delicate and might make the OKR functionality unusable, please be careful not to delete any files inside the hidden partition.
See the sample image on how to access the hidden partition:

To locate the drivers on the hidden partition:

This is tested on a Lenovo U410. The drive letters may vary on the Q180 system.

  • Ideacenter Q180 no Ethernet.

I have had the Q180 for over a year. It has always been connected wirelessly and my connection has always been excellent. Recently I have been streaming larger files and the wireless connection has had difficulty keeping up. I decide to wire it up to the router directly. Unfortunately the computer shows LAN disconnected even though it is plugged in. I updated drivers and tried different cables but still It shows it's disconnected. Am I missing a step? Some one please help.

    hi Sharkbox,
    Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.
If you're running Windows 7, does the LAN status say Network Cable Unplugged under Control Panel (large icon view) > Network and Sharing Center > Change Adapter Settings ?
If this is your case and the LAN adapter is enabled under Device Manager and in the Network Connections then you most likely have a malfunctioning or disabled ethernet port.
    Things that you can try:
    1. Boot into the BIOS and ensure that the Onboard Ethernet Support is Enabled.
     - Link to picture
    2. Consider getting a USB to Ethernet adapter (like this item).
