Lenovo V200 does not support 1920x1080 resolution

I have a Lenovo V200 (0764-33G) with a LG W2343T external monitor attached which has a native resolution of 1920x1080. For some reason this resolution is not supported by the notebook. It is not a chipset issue as the Intel GM965 chip does support 1920x1080 and I have a number of other notebooks from other vendors with the same chipset that display perfectly on identical external monitors. It cannot be a performance issue becuase the display settings on the V200 allow me to select a resolution higher than 1920x1080.
According to various posts on the internet, this is a BIOS issue. For some reason 1920x1080 is excluded at a BIOS level. Is this indeed the case?
I have updated the BIOS to version 65ET60WW and have installed the latest drivers from Intel without any success...
Is there a fix for this, or has anyone been able to solve the problem?

Hello rgarnott,
you might have already seen my other post regarding this issue.
I came to the same conclusion as you did, that this is BIOS related. But as you, I couldn't find an explanation or confirmation.
However, I found a way to circumvent this restriction. See the above mentioned post.

You actually need to give information to get help - just stating an abstract problems (which is most certainly not a problem at all) gives the volunteers hearer nothing to work with to help you
What version of iPhoto? Of the OS? What exactly is the problem (iPhoto does support the resolution of your camera so that is NOT a problem)? what exactly are you doing? What error messages do you get? why do you incorrectly think that iPhoto does not support full resolution?
At this time your question is like my car won't start - why not? Could be anything from you did not put the key jun to being out of gas to having the engine stolen - no way to tell anything - except that the problem you claim is not true (at least in my example I would know that the car did not start)

  • My apple TV does not support 1280x720 resolution

    Hi all,
I have recently bought a apple TV in Greece. However it seems that I cannot make it accept movies (ripped from DVD) with resolution 1280x720 (24 fps). Are apple TVs sold in Greece different from these sold in US ?
The funny thing is that the greek apple site does not mention at all this resolution in the apple tv specs...

Are apple TVs sold in Greece different from these sold in US ?I woundn't think so.
The funny thing is that the greek apple site does not mention at all this resolution in the apple tv specs...720p24 and 720p25 are only supported in the H.264 "Main" profile with average video data rate supposedly limited to 5.0 Mbps and with stereo/"surround" AAC audio limited to 160 Kbps at 48.0 KHz. Make sure your target file output conforms to these settings.

I have noticed that blackberry blend does not resize its display to compensate for higher resolutions. In other words, if you open up blend on a windows laptop with a QHD display. The text is going to look really small. Please fix.

  • Xrandr not supporting old resolution

Upgrading Xorg completely broke my system. Lots of not-fun later, I found out that setting up dual-head has to be done with xrandr, which seems like a good way to do it.
However, xrandr does not support setting the resolution from before...
I want to have my two screens running at 1280x1024 (which is quite normal I think, anyone having two 19''ers ).
Now xrandr tells me, that the maximum resolution I can use is 1920x1200. Perviously with xinerama I could set the resolution to 2560x1024 without any problems.
Anyone have similar problems? Anyone have a solution?

    I have a Mac Mini Late 2012, 16GB ram, 2.6GHz, Intel core i7, Intel HD Graphics 4000  1024 MB.
Many of the posts/solutions that I read recommended copying the file:  AppleIntelFramebufferCapri.kext  (contains video/res/buffer settings?) from a Mavericks Time Machine backup. Next downloading a program called KextBeast (installs .kext files) and run KextBeast to install that file into Yosemite. Since I didn't have a Mavericks Time Machine backup - I did a fresh install of Mavericks then copied the AppleIntelFramebufferCapri.kext file to an external drive. Next I did another fresh install of Yosemite. Booted up into Yosemite. Copied the AppleIntelFramebufferCapri.kext file to my desktop. Ran the KextBeast program and it installed the file exactly where it is suppose to be. I rebooted and then opened System Preferences/Displays -chose the "Scaled" option and there was the 3440x1440 resolution at the top of the list. My LG 34UM94-P Monitor is running in all its 3440x1440 glory!!!!
To locate the AppleIntelFramebufferCapri.kext in Mavericks:
From the Finder, select Go > Go to folder...  and enter "/System/Library/Extensions/".
KextBeast can be downloaded here: www.tonymacx86.com
I have to admit I was worried about running KextBeast - just because I know nothing about the program - but I figured worse comes to worse I would do a fresh install back to Mavericks. But KextBeast worked like a charm! If you have the know-how using Terminal you can do manually what KextBeast does -do a search for jonathans Blog. KextBeast requires that you first copy the AppleIntelFramebufferCapri.kext file to your desktop.
    SOME OTHER NOTES:
There were some posts that recommended getting a Hex Editor and editing the AppleIntelFramebufferCapri.kext file - I assume they meant the version of the file that is used by Yosemite - but I went the easy way.
    Hopefully this is helpful,

  • Installed graphics card does not support the opengl features recommended

I've installed FCP6 on my PowerMac (PPC G4 DP 1.25GHz), and when I run it, I get a warning ("...installed graphics card does not support the opengl features recommended...") and the program ends. The graphics card is the ATI Radeon 9000 Pro (64MB)
I'm looking for a definitive answer regarding my hardware compatibility with FCS2 (specifically, FCP6). I'm NOT looking for an answer along the lines of: your system is too old to run this.
I've checked the minimum system requirements from the apple website (http://www.apple.com/finalcutstudio/specs/
    and http://www.apple.com/finalcutstudio/download/):
    * A Macintosh computer with a 1.25GHz or faster PowerPC G4, PowerPC G5, Intel Core Duo, or Intel Xeon processor
    * 1GB of RAM
    * An AGP or PCI Express Quartz Extreme graphics card (Final Cut Studio is not compatible with integrated Intel graphics processors)
    * A display with 1024-by-768 resolution or higher
    * Mac OS X v10.4.11 or later
    * QuickTime 7.3 or later
    * DVD drive for installation
I have all that stuff. What I'd like is to know which component of my system is FCP6 complaining about (vis-a-vis the error message above), alternatively, if someone has had success with a similar configuration, I'd like to know anything they think might help.
Thanks in advance for any helpful advice you may have.

The minimum would probably be an nVidia Fx5200 or an ATI 9600...

I purchased the Apple airport express that connects
    multiple

is there a driver that can make this work?. I configured

takes ages to start printing and printing never gets to 100%
completion but to 99%. I am not able to cancel printing jobs and this

    Hi

    See
    http://mac.bigresource.com/Hardware-Mini-Display-Port-NOT-working-at-resolutions -over-1600X1200--G5rVJl3Wm.html#Ae8cBkplo
Apple doesn't "do" 1920x1080 with non-Apple Studio monitors.  It's bait & switch, a fraud, immoral, unacceptable.  A Mac lover & evangilist for 20 years, I'm now likely to never buy another.  I bought a new Asus monitor today, just to discover my MacBook Pro won't talk to it because Apple made their computer compatible with only overpriced Apple Studio monitors, not the leading brands.
Here's that post, pasted.  The answer's the same for VGA and DVI.
Mac Pro :: Mini Display Port Not Working At Resolutions Over 1600X1200?
    Problem:
Apple Mini Display Port does NOT work at resolutions over 1600X1200 on NON Apple Cinema Displays.
That means if you own any other brand of monitor such as NEC, Lacie, etc. you will NOT get native resolution on your 24 inch monitor as it is stuck at a maximum resolution of 1600X1200.
This story was mentioned on "Macbreak Weekly" show 4-14-2009. I have since checked with a few people and it would indeed seem to be true at this point.
I REALLY hope a solution from Apple comes soon and this is not some new policy of theirs. If so, it may be the last Mac Pro I will or can ever own. The reason is I do a lot of 3D work with C4D, Vue, Modo and Photoshop CS4 so I MUST have a monitor like the high-end ones from Lacie that have 100% color gamut and Adobe RGB. I can NOT be tied down to an Apple Cinema display due to that work. At this time, it seems this means I would only get 1600X1200 resolution on that 24 inch monitor.
I am HIGHLY concerned by this. Has anyone else confirmed this too and if so what the heck is Apple thinking or better still going to do about it? I LOVE my Mac Pro but if they start forcing Apple displays on us then I won't be buying another Mac, it's just that simple.

  • Macbook Pro Retina HDMI Does Not Support 2560 x 1080

I have both the early and late 2013 rMBP 15 inch but it seems like the early 2013 does not support my Dell U2913WM at maximum resolution of 2560 x 1080 for some reason on HDMI. Are the HDMI ports any different between the two? I'm tried using SwitchResX, but at 2560 x 1080, I can only go up to 53 Hz before it says invalid configuation on the early 2013 rMBP. On the late 2013 rMBP, it can output 2560 x 1080 at 60 Hz fine. It would seem like both graphics cards are more than capable of pushing this resolution, and if I connect through Displayport, they're both fine too. I was hoping to use HDMI though to free up a Thunderbolt port. Why are the HDMI ports not outputting at the same capabilities?

Absolutely, I understand that but I'm wondering if or why Apple has limited the HDMI port on the early 2013 rMBP. HDMI 1.4 should be more than capable at outputting up to 4k resolution, so it would seem like Apple is intentially limiting the early 2013 rMBP to HDMI 1.2? At least one post from as early as 2012 seems to suggest that installing Windows on a rMBP allows higher outputs. I thought Mavericks included support for HDMI 1.4 (http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?101431-10-9-Mavericks-4K-working-tes ting-it-now) but did they not extend it down to the early 2013 rMBP? Seems like it would be able to support it, no?
Perhaps the better question is whether anyone has been able to output anything at over 1080P on anything other than the latest rMBP after upgrading to Mavericks?
    From the earlier discussion:
"The port definitely supports it, but OS X is another story. If I boot into Windows and connect it to a display capable of displaying 2560x1440 over HDMI, it just works. If I'm in OSX, it refuses to allow anything over 1920x1200. Even if I try to force the resolution with SwitchResX, it doesn't work. If I create a custom resolution with a 40Hz refresh rate instead of 60Hz, then it does actually work. 2560x1440 @ 40Hz fits within the bandwidth constraints of a single link at 165MHz. So it appears that OSX limits the port to 1.2 frequencies. I'm not realy sure why -- HDMI 1.4 should allow for frequencies upto 340MHz, and the hardware is clearly capable based on Windows."
Now that Mavericks supports higher than 1080P over HDMI at least on the latest rMBP, did they just not extend that support to earlier rMBP's even though the hardware is capable of it?

Thanks... But again, why would I have to do this now when it was never a problem before?
In any case, all the footage I'm using in this project is XDCAM EX, the only difference being that some footage is 720, while other footage is 1080, and then there's also a variation in terms of interlaced and progressive footage accross the board (it's a rock band documentary, don't ask! )... Could this have something to do with it?
I kinda doubt it, cos one of the TV shows I work on has the same codec, resolution and other settings accorss the board, and I experience the same stutter on these projects...

Existing Server/Exchange 2003 environment. New 2003 R2 x64 server fully patched and updated with no other apps installed attempting to install Exchange 2007 SP2.

    Executing
setup.com /prepareSchema fails. I've set the msExchVer attribute for CN=Offline Address Lists to 4535486012416 and gotten no change, the install still fails. This
Googled page exactly describes my problem, and all anyone could say was to add this version number. It doesn't work. Pretty much none of the threads I've read have a resolution beyond this. I'm stumped, any help would be greatly appreciated.

What's the error message when executing  setup.com /prepareSchema fails? failed at Organization Checks?
Could you please check whether you are on the right schema version?

  • Your TV may not support this resolution or refresh rate.

    Hi All,
In the last hour, my apple TV (3rd Gen) has changed the TV resolution (hookup via HDMI directly into a Samsung 720p LED TV). Everything is bigger. No issue since in the past I would just change the resolution manually to 720p 50Hz, but now it will not let me and it says the following:
"Your TV may not support this resolution or refresh rate."
Does this have anything to do with ATV latest software update? Is it that my TV is an older model?
Any and all ideas would be greatly appreciated.
    Best,
    Bonfoa

    Change the Apple TV resolution:
Press and hold the Menu and Up button on your Apple Remote for six seconds.
The Apple TV will automatically cycle to the next resolution at approximately 20 second intervals.
Press Play on the Apple Remote to keep the current resolution or Select to manually cycle to the next resolution.

Well first of all, all three support GPU acceleration on the W520 with the 2000M.  So something else is causing problems. I would suggest reviewing the latest BIOS and video driver versions on support.lenovo.com against your machine and updating where needed.
After that, I would run your BIOS with default settings then retest.  That will be Optimus mode.  I would then change the BIOS Dispplay setting to Discrete with OS auto detect disabled and retest.
