Leopard uptodate

i am from india.
i am filling the free uptodate form for leopard osx.the link is http://www.asia.apple.com/macosx/uptodate/, the space provided for writing the address in that form is inadequate for me to write my mailing address.
what should i do?where or how should i write my address..
moreover the fax number given i.e. 000 800 650 1355.should i prefix the us country code i.e 001 before it or the singapore country code?
thanks

The US, Canada and some of the Carribean subscribe to the North American dialing plan. The numbers are only 10 digits.
OCICBW, but if the number the OP posts is the number to which to fax, that isn't a US number no matter how you wish to alter it.

  • Leopard uptodate program

Does anyone know how to file a complaint with Apple over the uptodate program? I faxed in my info over a week ago and still no status online. I called the number provided on the fax form only to find that all the service person does is check the same website I do. When she couldn't find my order she suggested that I refax my order. How does this help me in any way? What happens when they lose my order again? This feels like a scam to keep me from getting my upgrade.
Do I have any other recourse? Any help is appreciated.

Hi - I was able to submit for the Apple Leopard up-to-date program on two different occasions just last week. I used the online submission instead of faxing it in, since you need a credit card as a payment method anyway. You just need to input the serial number, it shouldn't kick back with any issues unless the model of Mac Mini was an old revision. I'm guessing that you've probably been down that route already, so I'd agree with above - Keep on callin', make sure you get a name/incident number and escalate if you're in the right and you can't get it resolved. If all else fails, if you bought the item from an authorized Apple reseller you can either return/rebuy for a new version with Leopard preinstalled, or maybe ask someone who works at the store if they have any copies of Leopard for their floor models. Hope this helps, good luck!

  • Leopard UpToDate Scheme for Outside US / Canada

    Hello,
According to http://www.apple.com/macosx/uptodate/ , owners of Macs bought after Oct 1 are eligible for an upgrade to Leopard for a small fee. I fall under this category but I am a resident of Japan.
What is the version of this scheme available for countries outside US/Canada? Can we walk in to the Apple Store of purchase with original receipts and directly receive the upgrade CD in lieu of the fee?
    Thanks,
    Aman

For any country use the two letter country code where the question marks are: http://www.apple.com/??/macosx/uptodate/ For Japan it is here http://www.apple.com/jp/macosx/uptodate/
Follow the steps in your countries offer.

  • Snow leopard uptodate link terminates at empty shopping cart

    Hi,
I purchased the macbook pro on 6/9/2009, and am using the apple online store link http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/9784001/wo/mA6AA eZV33RP2QMu99OJC2y73GJ/1.) from http://www.apple.com/macosx/uptodate/ to register for my snow leopard $9.95 upgrade when it is available.
The problem I'm running into is that after I entered my serial # and the qualified system is shown with a 'continue' button, clicking on it takes me to the empty shopping cart instead of registering me for the upgrade, and there's nothing to indicate what to do next other than 'continue shopping'. I am not sure what to do next to properly register for the snow leopard upgrade online.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Michael

Those of us here are simply users. Only a small handful of folks on these boards work for Apple, but they volunteer time here just like the rest of us. The problem you're having can only be resolved by folks on the inside, which is why you need to pursue other options for getting your upgrade pricing honored.
I suspect there's an overload on one of the servers which is causing the issue.

  • Snow Leopard-UpToDate---WTH!

I just tried the UpToDate enrollment program and it comes up flagged as incorrect serial number.
Yet, when I enter the same info to check my warranty status, it comes up fine with my serial number.
Aren't these systems integrated? It's definitely registered or the warranty info wouldn't show.

There have been issues with the Up-to-Date program servers lately. For a while, the update could not be added to the cart at all.
Worst case scenario, print out the pdf, fill it out, and snail-mail it in.

  • Uptodate Leopard

Sorry if this is in the wrong place. Not sure where else this should go.
I went to the place where you order your copy of Leopard uptodate and the form is not working.
I have very carefully followed the instructions over here:
    http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore?partNumber=MB025Z/A
I bought my iMac from a certified Mac reseller and so following the link for "If you purchased your system from an Apple Retail Store or an Apple authorized reseller..." I filled in the formand I get an error returned which tells me that the serial number of my iMac is not recognized.
    Does this form not work?
    Thanks for your help

Thanks. Looks like I am going to have to fax them my original receipt.
Maybe, but I'm sure I didn't have send a fax before they accepted my Leopard UpToDate order.
Try going to the online product registration page and entering your data -- I think it asks for date-of-purchase, and accept it without proof.
    https://register.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/GlobaliReg.woa
After that, go back to the iMac support page, re-enter your serial#, and see if the date-of-coverage has changed. If it has, I believe you're good to go. Sorry, it's been nearly a month since they put me through the same wringer, so my recollection of the the details is a little fuzzy...

  • Beeps in macbook after installing snow leopard

Hello, first, sorry for my english, last Friday I got snow leopard uptodate, after successfully install, the system may be restart, and then the screen goes black emitting several beeps.
if I turn the computer off and on again, snow leopard boot properly installed. I tried to reinstall it twice and both times gave me the same error.
10 days ago I expanded the macbook to 4gb ram.
    Thank you very much

I agree with Jay, it sounds like a RAM problem. Exactly how many beeps are there? Here is Apple's article about startup beeps:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1547
    Also in Spanish:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1547?viewlocale=es_ES
I would try to put the old RAM in and see if you have the same problem. If not, then you have bad RAM whether or not you're plugged in to electricity.

  • System has slowed down considerably after updates from Apple. Is SyncServer the culprit?

I use MacBook with preinstalled OS Leopard since April 2009. I have also regulalry updated my computer system using the Software Update application. However, since my last update on 12th Aug 2011, I have noticed that my system has slowed down. There is long pause between every character I type, delay in switching applications, battery dries out quicker, slow response to every command.
I have started facing this problem after updating following software like iTunes 10.4, Safari 5.0.6, Migration Assistant Update for MAC OS Leopard & Quick Time 7.7 from Software Updater. Although, my OS is still leopard.
I noticed on the Activity Monitor that syncserver is using majority of my RAM and reappers even if I stop the process. Some of its subprocess like AddressBookSync also appears and consumes lot of memory. Is this the problem? Though, I never noticed earlier what size it consumed.
I use Microsoft Office suite for Mac and have also checked and deselected all sync services. Yet, the Process (PID 305) continues to appear in Activity Monitor.
I am no techie, and would appreciate quick help to resolve this issue.
    Thanks!

I was just about to write the same problem, but I don't have VMware; my laptop is late 2008 was running Snow Leopard (uptodate version).
I've scientific softwares so probably would require a clean re-installation of ML. I MUST MENTION HERE that those software which were written for PPC will NOT work on ML. Just found out that one of my important softwares version won't work on ML; need $500  to upgrade that software .
Therefore, I'd also want to know how can I go back to SL.
I'll let you know how clean re-installation has worked.

  • System backup

i am using mac os tiger but now i want to switch over to leopard..i have got the leopard uptodate dvd...
i also want to keep a backup of the tiger to avoid any inconvenience...kindly guide me about the system files that need the backup so that i may easily get back to tiger in case i face any problem..
i am going to use carbon copy cloner for this purpose..
    thanks

is it possible that i just choose the important system files and program to create a backup file?
It's not possible and you are not creating a backup file with carbon copy cloner. You need a separate firewire connected external disk. As the program's name states you are making a carbon copy of a bootable disk. The copy will also be bootable. In the unlikely event that you wanted to go back to Tiger you would boot from the clone disk and use carbon copy cloner to copy the clone back to the disk in the MBP. However long the copy takes it is time well spent.

  • 3 month old iMac has slowed down considerably after installing ML

I bought my iMac 3 months ago and installed Mountain Lion last night. Now everything on my Mac has slowed down considerably. From opening the System Settings to opening a page in Safari.
I have MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint installed and also VMware Fusion.  I have software (CorelDraw) that only runs on Windows (the one I have) therefor the virtual harddrive.
Is this what is causing the problem? If so, how can i uninstall ML to get my computer back to it's previous state.
I am very new to Mac so I don't quite know where to go and how to fix it.

  • When I go to whatismybrowser it says I am not uptodate but when I check updates it says I am I have snow leopard. but I cant open certain things on sites I use daily where others can see the missing items and photos what can I do

I know you can not update Safari only with Snowleopard but the photos on sites I uses daily just have ? in them but all other users are able to see without issues

You install the Firefox web browser
    https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/fx/#desktop
Believe it or not, Apple is still issuing updates for Snow Leopard, it's true that Safari isn't version 6 like it is on later OS X versions, but it's still recieving security updates as Snow Leopard still has more that 25% of the OS X version market share still. It's just Apple doesn't announce the Snow Leopard updates past 10.6.8, which we are currently stuck at, so that website doesn't know.
So that website isn't entirely correct, and neither are they correct about Java 6, Oracle and Apple are still issuing fixes and Apple maintains Java 6 for Snow Leopard users.
    See the chart here
OS X 10.4/10.5 need to upgrade, 10.6.8 ok still
If you want more privacy and security with Firefox (like mine is in the picture above) then see this link
Maintain some level of privacy/cookie tracking
Harden your Mac against malware attacks
Also make a bootable clones, you can run Snow Leopard forever as it's easy to just boot from the clone, erase and reverse clone everything back on.
    Most commonly used backup methods
If you upgrade OS X to a later version via AppStore it's going to do this:
1: Very possibly slow down your machine
2: All your PPC based software will cease to function and other software will have to be replaced/upgraded for more money.
    http://roaringapps.com/apps:table
3: Purchase more RAM for your machine in order to meet the requirements of the later OS X versions (4GB+ is recommended)
4: Your machine might not run the later OS X versions at all, thus your looking at buying a new Mac prematurely to keep up, despite the older one working just fine.
Since I don't know what your machine is, if it's a laptop then I don't recommend any later OS X version than 10.6.8 if it's earlier than a 2011 machine.
Desktops like iMac's likely 2009 or later is fine, any MacPro is fine.

  • I use iMac OS 10.6.8 (uptodate Snow Leopard) with Firefox for Mac 23.0.1. Online and at other times, my number pad doesn't work. Is there a 'Num Loc/unloc' on the keyboard?

On line or otherwise, my number keypad doesn't work, then I get a 'freeze.' Number keypad works durning sign in.
I use Mac keyboard (original equipment).

Hi, sometimes Shift+clear works as numlock.
Also open System Preferences>Universal Access>Keyboard tab, & see if Sticly keys is on.
One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
    Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode), or Airport, or some USB or Firewire device, or 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts (Users & Groups in later OSX versions)>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.
Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.
Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...

  • Want to upgrade from snow leopard to lion, need to purchase an external harddrive to b/u my stuff.  will formating for snow leopard be ok when uploading to the new system (lion)?

oh sorry, I thought that was where we put the question   I am on an extremely tight budget, but since I do shift work, I wanted to use the iCloud funciton to keep my calendars uptodate on my pc/mac mini/and iphone. Wish there were a way to do it for free on my snow and snow leopard OS, but sinc e I cannot, I am wondering about formatting the external harddrive (which I have to purchase). If I format for the snow leopard, will there be a problem re installing the information into the new snow leopard OS machine?  Also, I am wondering about the older Mac Pro I have that is the OS before snow leopard (Snow, I believe) will I be able to use this same HD for backing it up to upgrade it (at a later date)?
    Thank you for your help.
    Deb

so sorry, I mean uploading information from the back up (ex HD) onto the new Snow Lion OS.  (and later doing the same with the Mac Pro which is the system before snow leopard.)  TY

  • Will upgrading to Snow Leopard affect my Windows 7 boot camp partition?

    Hi,
Did some preliminary searching on this before posting but couldn't find with confidence my answer. Does anybody know? Details below.
Q: Will upgrading to Snow Leopard affect my Windows 7 boot camp partition?
I'm running 10.5.8 on a single drive with two partitions. 1st partition for OS-x is extended (journaled), 2nd partiction (ntfs) has solid version of Windows 7 RC, build 7100 running.
    Thanks.

    Hi Michael,
here are some nice 'Myths and Facts' about Intel Macs and BootCamp http://refit.sourceforge.net/myths/
Bottom line: while not exactly needed for installing Windows on an Intel-based Mac, the BootCamp Assistant 'streamlines' the process with a nice GUI (no need for 'cryptic' Terminal commands).
Mac OSX as of now (10.5 Leopard and above) plus the uptodate firmware for Intel-Macs already include everything needed to install and boot Windows.
Deleting or reformating an OSX partition does not affect the Windows partition.
However a repartitioning of course does, if the Windows partition is on the same harddisk.
But even a repartitioning of any other harddisk (ones that not have the Windows partition on them) does not affect the Windows partition.
Did that myself when adding/upgrading the harddisks in my Mac Pro.
Nonetheless, when 'fumbling' with harddisks and partition structure I always have backups of my important files at hand.
    Take care
    Stefan

  • New Macs not shipping with Snow Leopard?

I just bought 2 Mac Minis for media playback use; I ordered them on 9/9 and figured they'd come with Snow Leopard (the Apple Store has a "ships with Snow Leopard" banner at the upper right, even).
However, they both shipped with 10.5.6 installed, and a DVD in the box also with 10.5.6 - no sign of Snow Leopard.
Any ideas on what's the best way to get this remedied? Visit a store, or phone support? I just spent 10 minutes clicking around support.apple.com but it kept sending me in circles.

    Ha
I called support -- they did help me out, but it went like this
Me: Hi, I just ordered 2 Mac Minis, they said they'd come with Snow Leopard but when they arrived they had only Leopard
Support: do you have the Mac on right now?
Me: No, not now, but I do have serial numbers and order number
Support: Oh. Because a couple people have complained about that, and I was able to help them click on the Apple menu and say About This Mac and see that the version number was 10.6.
Me: Er, no, I'm not that [must... resist... urge... to... say... "clueless"...] ... hasty. I'm quite positive that the preinstalled version, and the only DVD in the box, was 10.5.6.
Support: Oh. I'm sorry. Well, have you heard about our up-to-date program? [http://www.apple.com/macosx/uptodate>
Me: Yes, but I'm not interested in paying $20 for stuff that was supposed to come with what I already ordered.
    Support: It's not $20, it's $9.95.
Me: Right. And I need two of them. Sorry I was off by 10 cents, but I'm not interested in paying anything at all for this, actually.
Support: OK, let me look into this.
    ... long pause
Support: OK, and you've checked the entire box, and the version number, and it's not 10.6.
Me: Yup, quite carefully, a number of times now.
and then some more pauses, confirmations that I did check the installed versions, and apologies for the slip up, and they're sending me the upgrade.
So, in general, helpful, though this whole thing has been an extra set of hassles I wasn't expecting... Fight Club had it right, "the things you own end up owning you".
