Leveling Music Volume in a Slide Show

I have created a wmv file of a slide show to play using Windows Media Player. The music for the show consists of several songs. They have noticeably different volume levels. Is there a way, in PSE7, to level the volume among the songs?

You would need to do this in an audio program before bringing it into PSE.

  • Can music be insync with slide show

In iPhoto one may link with a music track and even time the the slide show to end with the music.
Can a slide show with music from iPhoto be ex/imported to iWeb as is?
What about auto-play music with an iWeb Album?

Yes. The basic idea is that you make a playlist of songs and choose that to use with the slideshow, rather than any particular song. In iPhoto 11 you can do this in iPhoto. In earlier versions you do this in iTunes.
There is a limitation. Each song will play the full way through, you can't croassfade from one to another and so on.
    Alternatives to iPhoto's slideshow include:
    iMovie, on every Mac sold.
Others, in order of price: PhotoPresenter  $29
    PhotoToMovie  $49.95
    PulpMotion  $129
FotoMagico $29 (Home version) ($149 Pro version, which includes PhotoPresenter)
    Final Cut Express  $199
It's difficult to compare these apps. They have differences in capability - some are driven off templates. some aren't. Some have a wider variety of transitions. Others will have excellent audio controls. It's worth checking them out to see what meets your needs. However, there is no doubt that Final Cut Express is the most capable app of them all. You get what you pay for.

  • When adding music to an iphoto slide show, is it possible to sample pieces of songs?

Does anyone simply sample bits of music for their slide shows? I have only been able to apply entire songs.

You can't. Iphoto plays the music track. It's it's 3 minutes long then it plays for 3 minutes.
So if you want to play segements you'll need to copy the track, duplicate it and edit it to the requied length
    Or
Use an app that supports multiple audio tracks.

  • Mastering and/or mixing narration & music in PSE 11 slide shows

I cannot find a way to get acceptable quality out of slide show audio options in PSE 11. Using clips of a music recording instead of the whole piece produces amateurish clicks or abrupt cuts instead of smooth fade-outs. Mixing narration with background music does not seem to be possible at all. Are there eventual plug-ins or other means available to get around this problem?

  • How do I edit out the first 20 seconds of music in an Aperture slide show?

I don't want to use the first 20 seconds of a piece of music in a slide show.  How do I start the music 20 seconds into the song?  Thanks.

Since no one else has answered, here is my solution:
I use a free program called Audacity http://audacity.sourceforge.net
I export the track from iTunes, trim with Audacity and then re-import the new version back to iTunes (".trimmed)" so that it appears in Aperture music selection.
(I have no connection/investment whatsoever of any kind in the developer of Audacity!)

  • Adding music / audio to Photo Slide Show

I have several photo pages in the iWeb Photo Template pages and am giving the option to watch as a slide show.
If the viewer opts for the slide show, can music and/or voice over be automatically and simulaneously played?
    How? Thanx.

If you want to add background to a .Mac enhanced slideshow, it is going to take a little post-publishing editing....but it is possible. Check out this thread and especially Bruce Kirman's explanation and example. Very nice...

  • Multiple music tracks on a slide show in Lightroom

I asked at Photoshop World this month whether or not Adobe has included the ability to place more than one track of music in a slide show. Unfortunately, this is not possible with the latest release of LR5. However, I would find this incredibly useful for longer slideshows without having to resort to a third party software. Is there any plan to do this in the near future?

Your preaching to the converted - I've p...d and moaned about the half baked slideshow module for years. And whilst the Lr team have added features over this period they've generally been to satisfy folk more intertested in video output than fixing the basics.

  • Editing Music for an IDVD slide show

Is there a way to edit a song that you are using when you are creating an IDVD? For example, I have a song I like for a particular slide show I've created. However, I want to edit out the first part of the song because it's just too slow. Is there a way to do this. I have I-Life - not sure if there is a program there I can use or if you can do it with IDVD
    Thanks!

Each slide is treated as one chapter within iDvd's slideshow. Suggest you keep each slideshow at 99 slides or less for best results in predictable Dvd playback. If you exceed 99 slides per slideshow you may get mixed results depending on which set top dvd player one uses. Some set top players will freeze at slide #100, 200, etc. Some will pause briefly (like the pause between Dual Layers), and others won't read it at all. The 99 slideshow limit does not apply if one uses a mac for playback in most cases.
If you must exceed 99 slides then consider using iMovie or a 3rd party app to create the slideshow. Other than iM, here are 2 more apps that come highly recommended in this Forum:
    http://www.boinx.com/fotomagico/overview/
    http://www.lqgraphics.com/software/phototomovie.php
If you happen to own a QT Pro key, then it too has the ability to edit both audio and video (as do other apple video editing apps like iMovie and FCP/FCE).
Other apps that edit audio well are Garage Band as well as these handy 3rd party apps:
    http://www.hairersoft.com/Amadeus.html
    http://www.arizona-software.ch/photopresenter/
Hope this helps but if not just come on back.

  • Music vs. Photo slide show

Just need to confirm if my ATV is working as designed, or if I'm missing something in the controls. If I'm listening to music via the ATV, and then switch in the menu to look at Photos, the music turns off and is replaced by a shuffle of my music library. Is there not a way to look at my photos (slideshow, etc...) without turning off the music I'd been listening to previously?

That's correct - I'm not talking about viewing my photos as a screen server while listening to my music. I want to be able to (actually, SHOULD be able to) switch from listening to music to viewing my photos without having to stop listening to my current music selection.
I really like the ATV, but this is a pretty big oversight that should be a simple fix - hope to see a fix/update soon.

  • Music needed for football slide show

I am putting together a slideshow for our high school football team. I need some suggestion for music......I am not nearly creative enough to create my own in garage band.
I used the basic ones I could think of last year (another one bites the dust, showdown, etc), but I am looking for others, but this is a catholic school and I need to be careful about the lyrics.
    Any suggestions???
    Thanks!!!

Thank you! I will try there. I thought this forum was more technical to, but someone said to give it a shot, and I got an avenue to try from you!
    thanks! Much appreciated!

  • PSE 7 Strips Out Slide Show Music

I have created a PSE 7 slide show of about 150 pictures.  I have included a music track as background while the slides play.  I full screen preview the slide show and all is good -- I can also save and go out of PSE 7 then go back in and open the slide show and re-preview and all is still good.  I then select to output the slide show to DVD and let PSE and Premier run their standard course to get to a burned DVD.  All is good, no errors, and the process completes ending in a burned DVD.
Problem is that near the beginning of the process, when PSE 7 creates the .wmv file, it strips out the music track for the slide show.  I know this is where the problem occurs because I have gone in and played the .wmv file in Windows Media Player and the slides are fine but no music.
I have done the exact same thing with only 6 slides and music is in fact included.  The burned DVD of that small slide show plays fine and with music.
What is going on???  Does making a slide show with 150 pictures push the limits of what PSE 7 can handle, even though I get no error messages???
    Thanks!

PSE slide show has some issues with high resolution images. Please reduce the size of the image 1000 x 700 and create/burn DVD.

  • Elements 4 Slide Show Music

I've distributed two new PDF slide shows to about a dozen people each. A LOT of the recipients have problems with the music -- sometimes it doesn't play at all, sometimes it's jumpy, etc.
Is this a Photoshop slide show problem, an Acrobat Reader problem, a producer/director problem, or ???

    Louis,
I don't have PSE4 yet, but adding music to a PDF slide show was an integral feature of Photoshop Album 2. It can still be done in PSE3 but you can't save them as PDF files. I presume therefore, that this functionality has been reintroduced to PSE4.
I soon discovered that for people to view AND hear my pdf slideshows they needed Adobe Reader version 6 or later. In some circumstances, there was/is a plug in available for version 5 to enable this facility.
Karin has made a valid point too. If you do burn your slide show to disk, PSA2 also burned in the core engine of Adobe Reader too. This overcame the problem of recipients either not having the necessary version or not having it at all! The slide show simply ran off the disc. However, be warned, I found that the amount of data that had to be read from the disk sometimes made the slide show pause whilst it caught up with itself.
To help overcome this, ensure that the images you include in your show don't take up unnecessary memory space to reduce the read time. If they're only ever going to be viewed on screen, save them as JPEGs with a standard size of something like 1024 x 768 pixels and a resolution of no more than 72 pixels per inch.
    Best of luck.

  • Slide show music/in sync

How can I match my music time with the slide show time. Also my 1st slide stops but music plays the song. Thax

I think I understand your question: You want to be able to synchronize your slideshow presentation with an audio track.
To do this you first create your slideshow, with all of the Builds and Transitions in place. Then you open the Inspector / Documents / Audio window. Here you have the ability to bring in an audio track to use as a Soundtrack (either by importing it from iTunes or dragging the audio file into the Soundtrack window) and then Recording it as the Soundtrack for the slideshow presentation.
When you click the Record button, the audio track will begin playing and the slideshow will begin. Then just Click in sync with the music to trigger the Builds and Transitions you have created. Once completed, the slideshow presentation will play with the music and slides synchronized as you recorded them.
IF you make a mistake while recording, you will need to start over.
To learn how to do this effectively, I suggest you create a short trial presentation of five or six slides and practice with this until you get the feel of the process. Then go ahead and do your complete presentation.
    Good luck.

  • Slide show - audio Narration & Sound Track

IN PE7 is there a way to adjust the volume of the audio narration and the background sound track . If I add an audio narration to the slides and add a music Sound track to the show - The music steps on the narration and it can not be heard.

    Robert,
In the PSE 7 slide show editor you could decrease the volume of the music soundtrack for its entire duration - but that may make the volume of the music too low when there is no narration. You can also add multiple music files to a slide show, but creating separate pieces (files) from a music sound track would require additional software to edit the music files and then difficult precise placement of the pieces of music around the narration. In my opinion, neither is really a good answer.
What format do you plan to use for the Output command of your completed slide show?
Do you also have Premiere Elements 7? If no, do you have other video editing/creation software on your PC?
