Lexmark C544DN network attached printer takes minutes to start printing job

I recently purchased a macbook pro 13" i am moving from a windows 7 environment. My network attached Lexmark C544DN takes up to 2 minutes to start printing the print job, it did not act this way under windows. I have gotten the latest firmware and drivers for the printer, from the Lexmark website, in attempt to figure out the problem. My network hub- router is an airport extreme. I have noticed that at times when surfing the internet safari pauses when loading the page, this appears to be random not associated with certain websites. Not sure if the two are related but since both are using network protocols one may have to do with the other.
I am looking for things to look into that may cause such a problem and how to look into them as I am fairly computer savvy but my experience with the Mac OS X 10.6.5 is limited to going on two weeks now.
I should probably mention that the Mac network is solo not a hybrid with windows and mac together.
Thanks for any advice that can be given on this problem.

If your printer is on this list follow the manufacturers instructions.

  • How do I print from an iPad to a network attached printer on my home wifi network

I am trying to print documents (ie pdf) from my ipad to a printer that is attached to my network via ethernet cable. The printer is NOT an AirPrint type printer but I can print via wifi from my laptop to it without having to have my mac desktop turned on. Everything I have read about the apps in the app store all say I can print to any printer on my network "via a mac or PC". How do I print directly to the printer since the ipad and the printer are on the same network...

Thx for the suggestion, but it defeats the purpose by having to have my desktop computer running. I am looking for an app or hardware device that will allow me to print directly from my Ipad to my printers without having to turn on a computer to do it.
I have tried the Lantronix xprint server and while it works with my older Brother Laser it does not work with my newer Kodak ESP Office 6150 (and it doesn't look like they are even interested in attempting to write support for it into their printer list)
I have tried every app in the app store and none of them do the job WITHOUT having to have a computer running on the network.
    Let me re-state the problem...
I want to print from either my Iphone 4  or my original version Ipad to my network attached printers without having to have a computer running on the network to do it. I have a Brother HL-5150D laser printer hooked to my apple airport extreme's usb port and a Kodak ESP Office 6150 connected to the network via WiFi. How can I do this.

  • Network-attached printer/scanner and Mac OS X 10.4 Intel

    Hello,
I am a recent switcher and now would like to add some kind of All-in-one Printer/Scanner to my home. I would like to be able to scan documents from Mac OS X via the network. Can you recommend any hardware vendor or specific product?
I tried searching for this topic, but "network scanner" usually means something different hence only unrelated information showed up.
Earlier I looked at the HP Photosmart 2575. There is Universal software available, but I cannot see if the scanning part is available via network.
Thanks for sharing your experience with me!
    Kai

I have the 2575 and use it with my Intel iMac OS X 10.4.7. For network scanning I use the browser based interface in the printer rather than the HP Applications. It works fine for simple scanning tasks. It doesn't provide much in the way of control of the scanning options, just the type, Color Picture, Color Drawing, B/W Picture, and Text. It also lets you select the document size from a drop down with standard sizes like: Letter, Executive, 4x6, 5x7, 3x5 and 3x3.
The full blown application has a full feature set but I've been having troubles getting it to work reliably. I haven't had time to diagnose what the problem is but I think it is network related so it may just be my network configuration.

  • Trouble installing a network attached printer

    Hello
we have a windows 2003 server working as a print server with several shared printers. I have never had a problem just clicking on the shared printers and having the drivers downloaded and installed automatically on any windows 7 pc.  I just had
to reinstall windows 7 from scratch on a dell pc, and everything works however when I click on the shared printers on this particular pc, it first goes and says "checking windows update for drivers" and eventually comes back and says a printer
    driver could not be found.
It happens for any shared printer, and it only happens on this one pc.
thanks in advance for any ideas
    Jo

    Hi,
It seems that your printer driver is not installed or corrupted.
Please remove and re-add the printer for this particular PC, download the proper driver from its official website and install it.

  • Network Attached Storage on Windows 7 Starter accessed by Arch

I have a mini netbook running Windows 7 Starter (when it comes to windows features availability, it sucks) and I have attached to it a USB hard drive.
What type of server should I install on it and access the files from Linux?
    1) The network is insecure and I like to secure this file sharing
    2) I should be able to write as well seamlessly from dolphin for example
    3) Files should be available in all applications
I need a file server so to speak, but what protocol should I choose? FTP, Webdav, SMB? I ve never done it successfully in the past, I only achieved read only with an ftp server.

Various reasons have been identified by the computer experts for the mentioned error that includes network related problem, incompatible or outdated device driver, damaged registry settings and of course not to forget virus and spyware. It has been found that some stubborn virus threats are hidden in the program files and badly affect the performance of your PC and are responsible for error code 0x80070035.
The next step after knowing the cause of the problem is to resolve it. The steps which are illustrated below will greatly help the PC users to fix error code 0x80070035 easily.
Update the Old Drivers: outdated driver is the main cause for windows corruption. It is highly essential to fix the problem by updating the device driver that is compatible to the PC.
Registry repair- damaged or invalid registry entries might cause the above error. Here comes the need of registry repair tool. The software is efficient in rectifying any damage to the registry keys causing error code0x80070035 in the PC.

  • Macbook air 11" blacks out takes minutes to start back up again.

I have had this problem on and off since last November. First started when I using a LCD projector and I thought that was the issue. Last time it did it was last night...did it a number of times in succession. Now I am flipped out because this the my travel laptop. I will be working on ti, it blacks out and shuts down. Sometimes it stays down for a minute other time it stays that way for longer.
Is someone else having this problem?

    HI..
    Try a Safe Mode boot.
Startup your Mac in Safe Mode
A Safe Mode boot takes much longer than a normal boot so be patient.
Once you are in Safe mode, click Restart from the Apple  drop down menu.
Then monitor to see if the Mac blacks out again.

  • Lexmark X264dn networked and not printing...

    Hi,
I have scoured the forums to see if there is a previous thread that can solve my issue, but I cant seem to find anything that vaguely helps...
I have moved into an office and have brought with us a printer that has been plugged into the network via ethernet.
The printer is there and my macbook pro can view its webpage and it has installed the printer.  However, whenever I print, it sends the file and it disappears from the print queue but never arrives at the printer.
When I tried to print through word, I noticed there was an ! in a triangle next to the printer and it said - ipp-missing-job-id
Really not sure how to rectify this any help would be appreciated.
    Phil

    Lexmark Listens:
It is good of you to take the time to post here. The following is intended as "constructive criticism", not  as an attack.
The add-a-Printer document you pointed to gives three different procedures, depending on how "smart" the printer is, and how it is attached.
It is easy for an unsophisticated Reader to assume that the procedure you intended is the first one (of three) listed. That would NOT allow this (smart, Network-attached) Printer problem to be solved successfully. The idea that you provided a document with three procedures in it, and intended the Reader to find the SECOND one, may be lost without Specific Guidance.
Many Readers seem to find the nuances between different smartnesses and attachment methods of Printers baffling, and that can be a LOT of the problem.
Printer Manufacturers need to thump on the concept that Network Printers are Vastly superior (and that is why they cost more), but attach differently and use the Drivers differently. One size Driver does not fit all.

  • Network Print Jobs Always Get Stuck in Queue

    Hello,
I have, perhaps, the most frustrating problem on the planet.  In my home network, I have a HP Color LaserJet 2600n connected to my main PC, with 2 other PC's on the network.  All 3 run Windows 7.  Printing from my main PC works fine, but if I try to print over the network, the print job always gets stuck in the queue.  I can see it stuck in the queue on my main PC, but I can't do anything about it.  I can't delete it, nothing.  If I restart the spooler, then it magically prints and clears the queue, but it's annoying to have to do that all the time.  I've reinstalled the drivers several times to no avail.  Tips?

I have a similar problem, I have a directly connected 1300 and a network P3015. The 1300 is connected via USB, the 3015 is connected by RJ45 cable right to the router. Both printers have their print queues get stuck, but only from my HP Pavilion Elite HPE running HP-installed Windows 7. All the other machines in the office can use the 3015 printer perfectly well. One is an older Pavilion using XP-Pro, another is a Dell using XP-Pro and the third is a Lenovo laptop using Windows 7. All our toners are not refills (seems like a stupid suggestion that the toner cartridge could cause a queue to lock up). The problem is definitely between my machine and the HP printers. I have a Brother printer and a couple of Seiko/Epson printers that all work perfectly fine.
Rebooting several times a day is getting old.

  • HP Officejet PRO 8600 paper feed takes over 2 minutes to pick up paper on print job

Once you hit print it takes 2 minutes and 18 seconds for the printer to pick up the paper and print the document.  If there are multiple pages for the print job, the second and subsequent pages print immediately after the first one finally, finally prints.  I cleaned the rollers, checked for software upgrades, reset the printer, tried all different paper weights, etc.

Hi , and welcome to the HP Forums! I see you are experiencing print speed issues.  I would like to help! Do you have the same issues when making a copy, as opposed to a print? I'd recommend starting with a power reset.  Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.
I would also recommend downloading and running the HP Print and Scan Doctor. Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!

  • Print postcards from 'Pages' with a Lexmark C544dn printer?

I have been trying, unsuccessfully, to print postcards from 'Pages' with a Lexmark C544dn printer. As far as I can say, I have correctly set all parameters, but the output is always blank. Any ideas? FYI Lexmark have been unable to help!!

Hi Jerry, and thanks for your response.
What I want to achieve is a landscape postcard with one line of text across the top. I use this to stick on a few sticky notes for training workshop participants to use, to record their special interests for the session. I have done this for years with a Windows PC, MS Word and an HP4500dn LaserJet, and assumed that it would be a simple process with the new set-up (iMac, OS-X 10.7.4, iWork Pages 4.1 and Lexmark C544dn).
I started a blank document, with the paper size set to 6 x 4 inches landscape format. I re-set the margins to suit the size of the postcard, so that the text appeared to be in the right position, on screen.
I used the MP tray to feed the paper (there is only this one input, apart from the regular paper tray), and have tried this at the left side, in the centre and at the right side, in both landscape and portrait format.
I have even tried putting a sheet of portrait A4 paper through, and the printing shows up two thirds towards the bottom of the sheet, across the narrow dimension of the sheet. This makes me think that the machine is 'printing' after the paper has passed through.
Any idea what I am missing? Thanks, Geoff
Your trial with a full size paper tells the story, I think. Your ink is missing the post card. Try again with a small card. After initiating the Print function, make sure you are seeing the expanded Print dialog with the preview on the left side of the dialog window. Does everything look OK there? Paper correct size and orientation? Text showing where it should in the preview?

  • Not printing text-only graphics on Canon. Not printer problem-print ok on Brother and another network Apple prints ok on Canon. Believe a computer setting was inadvertently reset. What setting and how do I reset?

Without your printer model numbers, readers can only give you vague general directions.
    System Preferences > Print&Fax > ...
... shows a list of all set-up printers.
If you are having serious problems, it makes sense to "Reset the Printing System" (which also removes all printer set-ups) and add back each printer. It only takes a few minutes.

  • A user is having trouble printing. Print jobs take FOREVER when they used to speed through

A user is having trouble printing. Print jobs take FOREVER when they used to speed through (despite linked images, etc)
These are just some notes from our troubleshooting:
User was trying to print out InDesign document however during the flattening phase, the computer would stall and would not print out the document.
The document does not print out using double sided or single sided.
The first time I went out, all I did was a system restore and uninstalled mcafee security plus because we're on a university network and sometimes the firewall blocks network printing, and that worked. She tried to print again later and it went back to taking 30 minutes for a print job of about 19 pages. These print jobs used to take about 5 minutes at the most to print entirely, but they queued up immediately, versus now, it takes about 5 minutes just to get to the printer.
Further troubleshooting that I did on a separate day:
Printer was printing fine in November - problem started at some point this month (December)
Printing is fine elsewhere, including in Adobe Acrobat
I was able to print one page just fine - it had no images (tried to print the same page later, took forever)
Some of the images are very large (100MB+) photoshop files (again, they were there before and it printed fine) - these images are linked (with no link errors)
She prints to a network printer, but there's no firewall on (again, printing is fine elsewhere)
She's essentially printing with the default settings, she just centers her print, instead of the default layout.
Now even printing with the default print set (not changing any print settings at all) doesn't work. Jobs take 30 minutes. I can't figure out if it's file specific or where the problem is. Since she has no custom settings, my next option is to just do an uninstall and reinstall, but I'm worried that the problem will still be there. I was starting to think that maybe the file is just so corrupted from all the force quits that that's causing the problem, but... I'm running out of solutions.
    Any help?

I have only worked doing layout for one business in my past. In that job our department would sometimes experience slowdown in printing from time to time. However, we began to see extreme slowdowns over a month period. It was finally tracked down to two things. One was something about the RAID array going bonkers. The other was some of the CAT cabling going bad. It only affected large print jobs and copying large files through the network. Even so, it was not 100% of the time. Sometimes things went along smoothly.
Point is, have your IT people been invited in to experience the issue and see if anything in the network is causing at least latency issues?
    Take care, Mike
