Library Already Open

Aperture 3 crashed while importing a library. When I attempt to reopen the Libary I was importing in it says its already open and I must quite to open. That does not work.
I have tried repairing permissions. Repairing Libary, and rebuilding Libaray but when it attempts to repair or rebuild I get the error message Library already open must quit to open.
How can I reset this file so that I can rebuild library?

2nd time attempting to rebuild Library (CMD OPT) succeeded. Perhaps after showing package contents of the Library and then closing reset a flag.

  • The library already opened on network Mac

I work with Final Cut Pro X library that shared over Thunderbolt bridge network by NFS. Sometimes Final Cut Pro X crashed, it's not a problem. Problem is, if I open Final Cut Pro again, appears an error: The library already opened on network Mac. But i know that is not true. So, if i need to open library which crashed Final Cut , i need restart both Mac who connected over thunderbolt bridge.
Question is: Can i resolve that problem without restarting both Mac?

In Final Cut Pro I was trying to move an Event Library from one hard drive to another as explained in the Help section.  After doing so, I received a message that my event is already open with the same identifier as the new one I just created on the new disk.  It says the second document cannot be opened and to move one of these documents out of your Final Cut Events folder.  It also says to avoid this problem, copy events from within Final Cut Pro, but that is what I did in the first place.  What should I do to avoid the double opening conflict?

What exactly are you doing and what version are you using with OS X 10.8?

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • Error message to close firefox appears upon app launch and indicates that a copy of firefox is already open. How do I find the open copy and close it permanently?

When I go into my daughter's account and try to launch Firefox (she was previously using Safari) an error message pops up indicating to "Close Firefox: A copy of Firefox is already open. Only one copy of Firefox can be open at a time." Except that I don't see an open copy of the app, unless it somehow is launched at login, a setting I don't see either. Firefox works fine on other user accounts.

Is there still a default profile folder present?
    * /Users/<user>/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles/<profile>/
If not then delete the file [http://kb.mozillazine.org/profiles.ini_file profiles.ini]<br />
That will cause Firefox to create a new default profile.

  • URL link in Reader won't open unless a browser is already open

I have an issue on a Windows 7 PC using IE8 and Adobe Reader 9.3. While viewing a PDF file in Reader, and clicking on a URL link in the PDF, nothing happens unless a browser window is already open. It doesn't matter if the browser is Firefox or IE8, although IE is the default browser. When no browser is running, nothing occurs, not even an error or Enhanced Security message. I've verified that the "Create links from URLS" is selected.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks In Advance

    Possible workaround...
    1. Create a local iPhoto Library - to do this open iPhoto while holding down the Option key. Give it a unique name and save it somewhere.
    2. When you are not connected to your home network, open iPhoto with the Option key held down, and select your new local Library. Then open iMovie.
iPhoto remembers the last Library open, so as you move in and out of your home network you will need to change the iPhoto Library (following step 2 above) based on your location.
    hope this helps,

  • I am getting an error message that "A copy of Firefox is already open. Only one copy of Firefox can be open at a time" and I don't have any copy open.

I am getting an error message that "A copy of Firefox is already open. Only one copy of Firefox can be open at a time" and I don't have any copy open. How do I correct this problem? I really like firefox because it runs many technical programs on the web that do not work with safari. I have FireFox version 32.0.1 installed on my MacPro PowerBook OS X 10.7.5. My activity monitor does not show any FireFox activity, so do not know what it is seeing

This worked, I used the method described in this link http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=365156, and opened the Mozilla profile screen with the terminal on my mac, using the language given in the links. Then I duplicated my original profile to save the bookmarks, etc. Put them in a folder listed Duplicate profile with the date. With the open profile screen, I deleted my original profile, created new profile folder and then a new profile. Note that profile cannot be created in the system library, it must be created on the disc, because the library will not allow writing into it. After I created my new profile folder, I dragged all my old information into it, and it worked. Firefox closed and the error disappeared. You must be VERY careful to make sure Firefox is closed anytime you are doing anything with the profile folders. I think that is what caused my original problem.

  • Get error msg: A copy of Firefox is already open. Only one copy of Firefox can be open at a time.

Get the following msg. when I try to open Firefox: " Close Firefox. A copy of Firefox is already open. Only one copy of Firefox can be open at a time." No other copy is installed or running.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== After I reloaded a new copy of OS X. Previous system folder was archived.

I got this message after trying to copy my profile folder over to a new computer
    This worked for me:
make sure hidden files can be seen
    go to (user)/Library/Application Support/Firefox
    find profiles.ini
open it with textedit and make sure the default profile is the same folder you have under Firefox/Profiles
    good luck!

  • Can't access firefox. message states: a copy of firefox is already open. Only one copy of firefox can be open at a time

I am a Mac user and can no longer use firefox as a browser. The repeated message is that a copy of firefox is already open, but I am not using firefox now but rather Safari.

Back up all data if you haven’t already done so. Before proceeding, you must be sure you can restore your system to the state it’s in now.
Quit the application if it's running.
Open the Library folder in your home folder as follows:
☞ If running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, hold down the option key and select Go ▹ Library from the Finder menu bar.
☞ If running an older version of Mac OS X, select Go ▹ Go to Folder… from the Finder menu bar and enter “~/Library” (without the quotes) in the text box that opens.
From the Library folder, delete the following item(s), if they exist:
    Caches/Firefox
    Caches/org.mozilla.firefox
    Caches/org.mozilla.plugincontainer
and move the following item(s) to the Desktop:
    Application Support/Firefox
    Application Support/Mozilla
    Preferences/org.mozilla.crashreporter.plist
    Preferences/org.mozilla.firefox.plist
    Preferences/org.mozilla.plugincontainer.plist
Launch the application and test. If you still have the issue, quit the application and put the item(s) on the Desktop back where they came from and post again. Otherwise, delete the items on the Desktop.

  • Why does it say my event is already open with the same identifier so the second document cannot be opened?

I have been working for 7 hours today on a major 3-month project. Everything was okay until I closed it and tried to open it. I received this error:
"/Volumes/MediaSAN4/Workbench/HRL /Final Cut Events/Move-In is already open with the same identifier as /Volumes/MediaSAN4/Workbench/HRL /Final Cut Events/Move-In, so the second document cannot be opened.
Move one of these documents out of your Final Cut Events folder.  To avoid this problem, copy events from within Final Cut Pro."
not sure what it wants me to do.
When i hit ok EVERY event is gone. all projects say missing event. Even the two I'm not working on. I'm so frustrated I've thought about starting the project over in 7 but I want to stick with it.
I work for a university and have not been able to find help, even from my boss. The only thing I have found to fix it is to dismount the drive (mediasan4) and then remount it and it reconnects everything. But this can't be a good way to work. There are no duplicate events anywhere. there IS for some reason a duplicate mediasan4 drive in the project library, but not under the events library. I have been working in one and everytime I make an edit to my projects in there it makes the changes to the other one. I cannot find a way to delete it. We just reinstalled fcpx a few days ago.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

Oh yea sorry about that, but yes sir, I sure am. The SAN not the drive. I have tried renaming the event as well. Thanks for checking though.

  • WEBUTIL - file already open problem

    Hy everybody,
I request your help for a problem with de Webutil library.
I want to open a PDF document with the command :
    Ret := WEBUTIL_HOST.Nonblocking( Cmd ) ; (Cmd = path + file name)
This function is called on a "When Button pressed" trigger in my form.
    The errors occurs when :
1/ I pressed my button, my PDf is well displayed.
2/ I didn't close my PDF and I click again on my button.
3/ I get the error "WUT-105 : Unable to open file"
I just want to know if exists a function which tell me if the document is already open. (WEBUTIL_FILE.FILE_IS_READABLE does not work any more !)
Or if I could catch the exception in my code. I've tried but I didn't manage to catch it.

rundll32.exe url.dll,FileProtocolHandler test.txtOpens test.txt with the program I specified to always open textfiles with.
