Life Poster (Mike Matas) - unable to save PDF to poster

Hi,
I'm using Iphoto 6 - attempting to build a 'life poster' as detailed in Mike Matas blog on the subject: http://www.mikematas.com/2005/01/how-to-make-life-poster.html
All was going well - I made a new custom poster size in page setup, but when I come to print I cannot see or select my new custom size, and the save as PDF option insists on using the paper size detailed in the right hand dialog box.
Anyone know how to get Iphoto 6 to print to poster size? Perhaps you have updated instructions for the life poster?
Any help gratefully received!
Cheers
Chris

Even after I have re-installed, the "Create Thumbnail Poster" does not show up in the Automator's PDF (under Library list) action window. It does show in "My Workflows". This is why I get the warning that it is incomplete and can't find it when I try to run the workflow from the folder on my desk top.
I have consulted with others online who have been able to use this workflow sucessfully, because it installed correctly. WIth great results! ( Also using Tiger 10.4.7 and Automator 1.0.4.)
I wondered if it was a problem with Automator, so I checked the Apple discussion there and found that someone has the same problem with it not installing correctly. We both get the same message about missing part of the crucial part of the action. We both have downloaded the same thing, although she is running 10.4.4 and I am running 10.4.7. (Same as what you refer to and I just tried again.) See http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=3161878#3161878
I posted there as well, and so far, no one has come up with the solution.
I have tried contacting Jim Heid online (no answer) and looking on Automatorworld.com which also has the same version of the download available.
Thanks for any ideas!

  • Unable to save PDF's that have editable fields

I am unable to save forms that have editable fields. I get the error "The document could not be saved. The disk you were saving to or the disk used for temporary files is full. Free some space on this disk and try again, or save to a different disk"
I am running windows xp, and started with reader 10.1.4 having this issue, now i upgraded to 11 and same results. My co workers can save the same form and i have over 80 gb of free space on my hard drive which is where i am saving it to. I have tried saving it to other locations on my hard drive but get the same message. I can however save pdf files that have no fillable forms in them just fine.
I could really use some help.
    Thanks

Figured out prtected mode was set to enabled on startup. Turned that off and no more problems.

  • Unable to save PDF - Internet Explorer Protected Mode "A file error has occurred"

    Hi,
I hope you can all assist! Here's the detail:
Reader XI (11.0.06) and deployed as physical installation (.msi)
    Windows 7 x64 Enterprise
    Internet Explorer 8 & 9
Opening PDF's from HTTP & HTTPS locations
Users are unable to save the PDF file to their chosen location (network share or local directory) "A file error has occurred".
When the Internet Explorer Protected Mode is switched off, users are able to save the file to their chosen location.
Is this is specific functionality of IE Protected Mode whereby the ActiveX control is being restricted.
Is this due to Enhanced security within the Adobe Reader 11.0.06 application?
Our current Reader version (9.3.0) is able to save files from unprotected locations, so this is creates a problem justify upgrading.
    Do anyone have any suggestions?
Look forward to any assistance or suggestions.
    Thanks,
    Simon.

    Hi Simon,
How are you saving the file (right click or from File menu)?  Does the problem happen with any PDF file?  Does the problem go away if  you turn "Enable Protected Mode at startup" from Reader (Preferences > Security (Enhanced)?

  • As of today I am unable to save PDF files that are attachments of emails.  Can you help?

The save as button is grey & unable to save any PDF file.  This problem began today so can this be changed?

Tech support visits occasionally but for the most part it's just us fellow users.
In order to use just "save", you would have to make some changes to the pdf to be saved. If you have made no changes, can you use "Save as"?
Are these files being opened in Reader directly or are you opening them in a web browser using the Reader plug-in? What version of Reader?

  • Unable to save PDF's from Internet Explorer. Error "The document could not be saved. The disk you were saving to or the disk used for temporary files is full. Free some space on this disk and try again, or save to a different disk."

We are currently in a published desktop environment in Citrix XenApp 6.5.  Server is running on Windows 2008 R2.  Users are not able to save PDF's into the redirected folders (ie Desktop or My Documents).  Exactly same issue described in "The disk you were saving to or the disk used for temporary file is full...."  Anyone has any suggestion??

    Same problem here. Any ideas?
Saving with Shortcut "CRTL+SHIFT+S" works just fine.

  • I'm unable to save pdfs onto my computer.

As I hover over the save icon and try to click, nothing happens.  I've tried updating and re-installing adobe several times now and on multiple computers.

That's what I'm trying to do -- I'm unable to save online documents to the computer, even though I can see the save icon which has always worked in the past.  I'm trying to save research articles (for which I have full access, of course) onto my computer from various journal sites.

  • Unable to save PDF files (sometimes?)

    Hi All,
There are times when I'm working with Elements 6.0 that everything is working normally. I can play and adjust and save files to my little hearts desire. There are other times when I'll open a file, make my adjustments, save the file and when I go back to look at the saved file, there is no preview and I am unable to open it. The properties says it is not a PFD, just "1 File". Any clues as to why I am having this intermittent problem would be most appreciated. The picture you see here is from a file that Elements 6.0 says it does not recognize and there is no preview. But yet I can select it and preview it here. HELP!!!!
    See attached....
    Thank you

  • Unable to save PDF to offline folder

Using Windows 7, have a network folder mapped to drive P.  This folder is set to Always Available Offline.  When we are connected on the network, and the folder is Online, a user can fill out the pdf form, and Save or Save As to the P drive, and everything works normally.
When the user is not connected to the network they still have the P drive, just that the folder is Offline.  The user can open the PDF, but cannot Save or Save As to the P drive.  In testing while in Offline mode, we can open the form from P drive, make changes, do a Save As and choose the P drive, everything looks to work, but no file is created, and there are no error messages.  If we open the form from the P drive, make changes and Save to the Desktop this works, and we can then copy the file from the desktop to the Offline P drive.
We can open Word, Excel files from the P drive in Offline mode, make changes etc, and save to the P drive, so it is not an issue of not being able to access or write to the P drive in Offline Mode.

I have encountered the exact same problem, and got here because I had narrowed it down to this, and Googled "acrobat reader cannot save offline folders".  All other file operations and applications work just fine with my offline folders, and Acrobat Reader XI can save files modified with highlighting just fine in the offline folder as long as I have set it to "Work online".  But, when online, if you try to save, it gives you a Save As prompt, asking if you want to replace the file when you select the original file, which is odd.  Then, with no error message, it acts like it was saved, but nothing happened in reality.  When you go to exit the program, you get another Save As prompt, and can't exit until you skip saving it!  Fortunately, you can just decide to save it on your Desktop so you don't lose anything.
I would say this is just a bug in Adobe Reader.  It has the behavior of typical Adobe bugs I have seen:  poor programming causes a function to fail, and it doesn't even tell you because of lack of error checking.  See my post for this issue, for example:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/3195524#3195524
You just have to work around this problem by saving to your desktop, then dragging it to the offline folder where you want it to be.

  • Unable to save PDF's: 'Program Error'

I have to save a file as a PDF with the [PDF/X-4:2008] preset, for offset printing, but i keep getting "Could not save as “filename.pdf” because of a program error."...
it will save under the "high quality print" preset, and other formats, but not this preset.  i thought it may have been a corrupted layer or something because it was created from a downloaded template from the printing company, but i get the same error message when trying to save other simple files as a PDF....
    i'm running CS5.1 on OSX 10.9.2...
I'm feeling a little jammed up, not sure how to proceed...
any advice would be greatly appreciated.
    thank you

well, it looks like i figured it out, and i'll share the solution for anyone that is looking for the same thing.  all i did was reset the preferences by re starting photoshop while holding down Command, Option, Shift.  a prompt comes up and asks you if you want to delete preferences, say yes.  it worked!

  • Unable to save pdf

I'm applying for a job that asks you to fill out an online application which is a pdf that cannot be saved.   Question is can I still send them it some other way or do you think they want me to scan and send in that way.  The job annoucement says to send everything in pdf form.

Can  you fill out the form, but not save? Does the form have a submit button? Yes you can print it out and scan it back in to pdf format if your scanner software supports it. What version of Reader do your have? If you look at the document properties it will let you know if it has been saved with extended reader properties that allows you to save form fields.

  • I am unable to save pdf docs into iBooks.

When I touch screen on PDF doc to seek options, only a magnifying lense opens. It does't give open in iBooks option.

If you are veiwing an open pdf file in the mail app - don't hold down on the PDF. Tap the PDF and then an Arrow icon will appear in the upper right corner. Tap that to get the Open In option. If you hold down on the PDF file, you will only get the magnifying glass.
