Lightroom 1.1 - Not Sorting Properly

I have thousands of images from a wedding shot by 2 photographers. In the library, I have the images organized into folders (and named) according to the photographer and card number. Both photographer's work is inside a broader folder for the entire wedding.
I have my sort set to descending and by capture time, but Lightroom isn't putting the images in that order when on the folder for the entire wedding.
Any thoughts on why?

There are many threads on this subject. I can't sort images from scans where I've added the capture date outside of LR. Images from my digital cameras SEEM to sort correctly, but I really don't know because my filenames would also sort by time so it's not a good test.
First, may I ask the obvious. Have you looked at the capture time in the right hand metadata panel (date time original) and checked that the dates and times are what you think they should be.
If so and you still can't sort, there have been some suggestions for "shocking" the system into sorting correctly, but they didn't work for me.

  • Lightroom 5 will not sort images properly, either by file name or capture time.  How can I fix this issue?

I am using Lightroom 5 with OSX 10.9.2 and the sorting feature is not working properly.  When I try to sort my library by file name or capture time, it does not sort properly.  The order of images is mixed and stays that way, even after reboot.  The file information is correct, the sorting is the only issue.  The library is approximately 6,000 images and I am also using a plug in with the Publishing Service feature.  Any help on how to fix this issue without losing my editing work done on the library would be appreciated.  Thanks! Dan

Thanks! I'm trying to sort by capture time or file name, and neither sorts correctly.  file names 3450, 3451, etc. before files 0234, 0235, etc.  It makes no sense.  Same with capture time.  Times are accurate in meta data, but sorting is just wrong.  I'm using a ShootProof plug in that is only used for uploading files to the web. The issue is in the main library folder, so I'm not sure the plugin has anything to do with it.  Any sort I seem to choose: capture time ascending order, file name descending order, whatever, yields a different yet inaccurate sort.  The below sort is flagged, by file name ascending order.  This is the bottom of the list where it goes from file brigitte_terry_w6408... to brigitte_terry_film_0039... to brigitte_terry_w2825...  Regardless of the 'film' file, the w2825... files should be displayed above w6408.  Thanks for any help!

  • Lightroom 5 will not sort scanned photo properly

Lightroom 5.2, Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.
I have some scanned photos from a trip to England in 1996. I have assigned to each photo the date it was taken. Lightroom clearly displays the date taken. But two photos will not sort properly by date, as you can see in the screen capture; the highlighted photo was taken August 31, 1996, and sorts between photos taken Sept 2, 1996 and Sept 3, 1996.
    Can anyone recommend a fix?

I think it's the act of reading the metadata from the file that usually corrects inconsistencies in the catalog.
In this case, it smells like it has to do with the LR's buggy handling of files that don't have capture time in their metadata:

  • Why is my Numbers spreadsheet not sorting properly?

I am working with a sheet and want to sort the sheet alphabetically by a column that is formated as text.  It is not sorting properly.  What am I missing?

It is a column of words which are names of catagories of medicines.  When I sort the list alphabetically, part of this list seems to sort correctly and then the rest is unsorted.  The column that I am sorting on is labeled.

  • Photographs uploaded to Behance from Lightroom 5 are not oriented properly. What can I do?

Photographs uploaded to Behance from Lightroom 5 are not oriented properly. What can I do?

    Hello,
Thanks for writing. The photo will be oriented exactly as it is uploaded, as we have no rotate feature. Before uploading, please open the file and make sure that it is uploaded in the orientation that you would like. If you're still having trouble (i.e. your image looks correct before you upload it, but is rotated incorrectly on Behance), your original file is likely not showing its true orientation. Please try saving the file again, or making a duplicate and saving that before uploading.

  • Albums are not sorted properly by their titles

I'm using itunes for windows (the latest version).
And I have a problem with album sorting - they're not being properly sorted by their titles.
As you can see it from above, I'm grouping music by genres and inside one genre (in this case, piano sonata), I want to sort them with their titles.
I chose the option which says it sorts by title, but as you can see it's not working properly.
         Chopin (C) - Schumann (S) - Liszt (L) - Barber (B)...
Actually most of albums are sorted correctly, but only some of the albums seem to be put on the wrong places.
Is this problem known and is there way to fix this?
It's not a critical problem but it's quite annoying for me...
If there's a way please let me know.
    Thank you!

    HJ Lee,
For one of the  problem tracks, right-click, Get Info and look at the Sorting tab.  There may be information there that is overriding the main tags.
If so, you can edit it in that tab.

  • My contacts will not sort properly on Macbook Pro

    Greetings all,
I'm still trying to learn  the Mac OS, only been on it a couple months. Here is my issue, on the Macbook, my contacts will not sort by first name.
On my iPhone and iPad, and when I log in to the iCloud and look at my contacts they are all sorted by First Name, and listed as (First Name, Last Name).
When I go to the Macbook contacts they are sorting by Last Name... I have removed the contacts from my computer, unchecked the contacts rebooted, re-activated  the contacts on cloud and they still do not sort the way i want them too....
    Can anybody help me please.

You helped me figure it out, I fill like a putz, I did not realize that the Contacts on the Mac OS, actually had its own settings.... I thought they were all controlled by the iCloud settings....
I'm slowly but surely getting things figured out, after using Windows all my life.  Thanks a million.

  • Batches not sorted properly

    Hi All,
    We configured Batch management recently.
We are sorting the batches by Manufacturing Date and Shelf Life Expiration Date.
Batches are sorted corrected based on Manufacturing Date,
But we are not getting proper results when we sort based on Shelf Life Expiration Date.
Based on SLED, system is taking even the batches with the past date.
    Please find the example below.
    Batch      Manufacturing date          SLED
    B0001     27.04.2015                         27.04.2015
    B0002     28.04.2015                         30.04.2014
In the above exmple, as per Ascending sort, system will pick up the first record, but the SLED is expired.
We want the system to consider the Batches with valid SLED. It should not take batches with expired SLED.
How to achieve this. Please suggest.
    Regards,
    Raja Durai

The sorting itself cannot solve this, you have to define in the system properly your condition.
With the help of the remaining shelf life charatcerisitc (LOBM_RLZ) you can define e.g., that only the batches with >0 remaining shelf life should be selected. Please read OSS note 33396 or e.g. this link:

  • Shared TV shows not sorting properly on iPad (iOS 4.3)

Anybody else having problems getting TV shows to display properly on the iPad when accessed via Home Sharing? I've noticed two problems in trying to do so:
    1. The iPad is sorting by artist name instead of show title (my 3G iPod touch does the same thing).
    2. A handful shows are overwhelming (for lack of a better word) others, such that instead of seeing listings for 12 shows, I see 6 listings apiece for 2 shows. This problem seems to be linked to shows with a series name in the form "X-[something]", such as the X-Files. So far I've been unable to fix this, although messing with the "sort artist" field has shown some promise.
Anyone else experiencing this, or have solutions that fall short of removing whatever shows are causing the problem from my library?

    Michael,
The one field that I did not have to alter for any episode whatsoever was the "Episode ID" field.
I left them as they were.
My episodes were showing up in the proper sorting order, but not showing up together.
For example Once Upon a Time Season 2 would show up twice on my iPad.
Some of the shows in one icon, the other shows in the other icon.
Both named the same with the same icon image.
I painstakingly viewed the Summary, Info, Video and Sorting fields of all the problem TV Series episodes and of the one TV Series (Once Upon a Time Season 1) that viewed correctly in Home Sharing.
The fields that had no data or different data were the fields I mentioned above:
    Album
    Sort Name
    Sort Artist
    Sort album
Things like the Sort Name (Evil Queen) would be different from the Name (The Evil Queen).
Or Sort Name would have no entry at all.
Album would contain data, Sort Album would contain no data or different data.
I made sure that the fields on the right contained data identical to the fields on the left.
This is how the data is on the one TV series that showed up correctly in Home Sharing, so I figured it had to work.
I turned Home Sharing off on all devices and computer.
Quit iTunes. Relaunched. Activated Home Sharing on the computer, then on my devices.
Now the TV Series' that I own shown up correctly in Home Sharing.

  • My address book in v. 32.0 will not sort properly e.g. by first, last, etc.; how can I correct this?

My address book has 106 names. I have selected for an ascending-sort by display name. But it will not fully sort that way; instead, the names appear as batches, within each of which the sort is (mostly) correct. When I click on Name at the top, the sort toggles between ascending and descending, as expected, but the change occurs within each of the seeming batches rather than overall. Also, it seems that in 1 or more batch, the name displayed is not what I have chosen, e.g. first, last or display.
In other words, displayed is one long list of names but it's really sets of names, that are treated as such. I want them all to be in one "set" and correctly sortable as such.

I also have this problem sorting my address book which did not occur until I updated to Version 32.0. I will go back to version 31 but v32 needs to have someone look at the sort module and make corrections.

  • Why is this not sorted properly? (filenames in Finder)

    Dear all,
I have scanned a bunch of pictures. When the date was available, I included the date in the filename. When not available, i put the date of the scan.
My understanding of "alphabetical order" also with number is that I should be able to sort them by date based on the filename.
    Isn't 2013xxxx > 1992xxxx > 1979xxxx  ??
    Thanks for any hint..
    Olivier.

    That the listing will be
    1
    2
    3
    5
    7
    87

  • Why are my albums not sorting properly on my iPhone?

I'm running iOS 6.0.2 on an iPhone 5 with iTunes Match and my albums are sorting in a strange fashion. The only connection: they're all David Bowie albums.
The problem is some, but not all, of my David Bowie albums are being sorted under the letter "P". Albums such as "Aladdin Sane", "Hunky Dory", "Black Tie White Noise", and "Diamond Dogs". 18 albums total are doing this and I can't find a connection other than the artist. I've tried renaming one of the albums to a single letter, such as "A" and that puts it under the "A"s. When I change it back to its original title, it returns to the "P"s.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what is causing this?
    Thanks,
    ~M

    That didn't work.
If I manually put songs on through iTunes it will show my Artist and Album but when I use my iTunes match it doesn't show it and also removes any I manually put.  It's all tied into iTunes Match.
I tried removing all my songs from the cloud and then uploading/matching again but that didn't work either.  It's still broke when I turn on iTunes Match on my phone.
The Songs are all messed up too, sorting wise.  I will have a random "B" song in the middle of the A's and then it goes back to showing the A's.
    Example
    A
    Almost Goodbye
    Almost Over
    B
    Baby
    A
    Almost Paradise
    Almost Perfect
It's just really messed up.  I would love to start over from scratch and wipe everything but that didn't work either so I'm not sure what to do.
    I'm paying for the service?!!?!?!?

  • My Albums Will Not Sort Properly, Please Help!

I deleted everything from my iTunes library so I could start over again, making sure everything was neat and tidy, all in the right place and completely SORTED for when I get my iPhone 3G. Now, I have just started importing my full albums and I want them sorted into their actual albums. For example, the first album I have imported is Ministry Of Sound: Anthems and I want it in my library stating that the album is called Ministry Of Sound: Anthems and there are 21 tracks in this album. Although, unfortunatley, this is not the case. Instead it has sorted each song sepreatley, stating only the album name and the artist, even when I am in "Sort Album > By Title" view. Below is screenshot (and a link for if the picture does not display) of what I mean.
    http://img217.imageshack.us/my.php?image=itunesproblemxi4.jpg
Note also, under the search box at the top right, it states "21 Albums, 21 Songs" when in fact I want it to display "1 Album, 21 Songs". Could someone please tell me how to do this as soon as possible.
Thank you very much in advance,
    Elliot.

Thank you very much, the problem has been resolved. I'm glad I asked and will return if any problems arise. Thank you again, Elliot.

  • Table with a column with RANK formula does not sort properly

    Hello,
I have a table in excel with Rank function that reference another column with numerical values. The results in the column (called Rank) with rank function are as expected but Sorting (ascending or descending) doesn't
work as expected on the column .  The Rank gets sorted in the following order: 1,15, 2,19, 8 , 4......
Few things that I've verified are:
    1. Verified that there are no text values in the column.
    2. Tried changing the format to number but this still doesn't resolve the sort issue.
    3. Copied the values from the Rank column to a different sheet and applying sort works as expected.
Does anyone have any idea on what could be wrong? Appreciate your help!
    Thanks!

Resolved the issue. I had an incorrect formula in one of the that was referenced by the Rank column.

  • The graduated filter in my Lightroom 4 is not working properly.

When I highlight the area I want to change and start making adjustments (and the black dot is in the circle), the whole photo changes. I have used this tool successfully many times in the past and don't understand why it stopped working. Ideas?

The black dot is in the circle that shows where the graduation filter is being used. When I use any of the sliders to change what I highlighted with the graduated filter, it changes the whole photo, not just what I selected.
