Lightroom 2 Help files

I deleted my usual browser Mozilla because it seems to be causing a processor problem.But the help file in Lightroom 2 would no longer work.Reinstalled Mozilla, help files back OK.But same problem with processer.
1) Can I change Lightroom so that it will work with anothe browser ie Internet Explorer. If so how
2) Can the Mozilla issue be addressed

The files should open with whatever is designated as the default browser. Check to make sure that IE is now your default browser and then try accessing the help files again. If they open in IE they you can delete the other browser.

When I click help in Lightroom 4.3, a box opens and I can choose help for elements, but not Lightroom. Hlw dod I get help fo LR to appear so I can use it offline?

Getting the correct Help function to work from within Lightroom has been problematic for some. In order for it to function correctly I believe it requires that the Adobe Community Help app is installed and up-to-date, and that in turn requires Adobe Air to be installed. Once you have all three components working (obviously LR is a given) then it SHOULD work.

Lightroom 3 offline help file location?

I'm sure this has been answered 2 million times already in this forum but various searches ("offline lightroom help file") don't get me very far (I have found the URL for 2.0 though...). Checked the Lightroom FAQ and release notes too.
Any pointer will be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

I have used lightroom for years on my PC and just installed it on my new iMac. I cannot import NEF files from iPhoto or from my Lacie hard drive into Lightroom. I have tried Lightroom Help but still cannot import NEF files. What am I doing wrong?

If they are the same nef files that you were importing into your PC, see if the reason is an error message like the thread above this one. Permissions issue.

Help files missing after upgrade to Lightroom 3

Dowloaded the upgrade, installed it, reinstalled it... help files missing... message is .. Cannot display help..

Solved problem by finding a folder in CS5 Photoshop set up files.. under the folder payloads.. and installing setup file for Adobe Help from there.. also installed updates from Adobes website for Media Player and Air...

"the help files for Lightroom were not properly installed"

I get the above-mentioned error when I try to access the help file. What to do?
I saw that the same question were raised earlier this year but remained unanswered.
When I check for updates, I am informed that my software is up to date.

Basically, Adobe are moving (or in many instances have already moved) away from Help files being installed on your hard disk. The basic Lr installer no longer includes Help documents, instead it should take you to the page I shared with you earlier.
Hopefully, above helps, otherwise, the folowing excerpt from Adobe Community Help Known Issues page explains futher. It's not specific to Lightroom but does try to 'excuse' the problem you're seeing.

Lightroom 3 Help file corrupted??? Help!

After using LR 3 since upgrade the help file says, as of today, it was improperly installed and not available.
How do I reinstall just the help??
I've checked all the possible Adobe on-line resourses and even tried to call .. wait time is beyond my capability at this time .. I am at Photoshopworld in Orlando. Johhny L, exec. Vp. of Adobe addressed us this morning but I don't think he has ever had a problem getting help from his company. the Lab guru was here with what to expect .. great show.
But, I need h-e-l-p ... please?

If you're on windows, try uninstalling "Adobe Community Help" and reinstall it from here.

Offline Help Files for Lightroom 3.5?

I understand that these offline help files do exist, but I'm unable to find them.
Online help files are totally useless with the Broadband speed available in the sticks where I live!
Will some kind soul please help?

There's a link in the upper right corner of the LR help screen that lets you see a PDF of the help file.
Once you have that showing in your browser, there's a "save" button. The PDF is about 10 megabytes, but you only have to download it once.

I'm performing a normal "Save", not "Save As". Work flow I'm using is as follows: Select photo in Lightroom 5.7 >" Edit In" Photoshop CC 2014 > (after working on photo is PS) > Save > close PS. Photo returns to Lightroom 5.7 in a new folder rather than next to the original. Prior to purchasing the monthly plan and upgrading to PS CC 2014, I performed this same work flow using Lightroom 5.6 and Photoshop CS6 without any issues.
Just for fun... I attempted to move the edited file back into the original folder. I received a prompt that said the file already existed in the original folder, however I can't see it except the new folder that LR created. I tried several different sort orders, etc without any success.
*** Follow up: Was unable to resolve the issue using Photoshop CC 2014. Uninstalled PS CC 2014 and went back to using Photoshop CS6. Return trips from LR 5.7 to Photoshop is now performing as it should: returning edited photo back to the original folder in LR 5 and placing next to the original image.
Should anyone have a suggestion on getting Photoshop CC 2014 to do the same, I would love to be educated.

How can I get Lightroom help to work in 5.6? I get error that it is unavailable and that I should check my internet connection.

F1 gives me the following error.
"Online help for Lightroom is not available. Please check your internet connection and try again. Help files can also be installed locally using the Adobe Community Help Tool."
How can I remedy this?

This is not a bug, it is intended behavior.
In search fields you might want to search for parts of the name, using a wildcard, that's why the auto-complete is not working there.
If an end user wants to search the complete name, he can use the LOV to pick a value.

Sorry for my lack of familiarity with this website, but I cannot find the location to download the latest PDF help file. I've been successful in the past, but can't locate it today.

Lightroom Help Causes App to Lock-Up

I am a new user of Lightroom and have loaded it on a Windows 7 64bit Home Edition laptop. Whenever I click on "Lightroom Help" or "Lightroom Module Help" in the Help menu, the application locks up. I get the same results with version 3.3 (which I downloaded) and version 3.2 (which is what was in the package I bought). The application loads Lightroom 64bit by default, but I also loaded the 32bit version to see if it would work there as well. No combination I try seems to make a difference. Being that I am a brand new user of Lightroom, not having help available is a big deal to me - and I am not always connected to the internet whenever I am using the app so online help isn't a suitable substitute either. Additionally, I am concerned that there is something else lurking in the background that is going to cause the app to lock-up that I just haven't discovered yet.
In the System Event Log, I only see this message accompanied by a 1002 Event code:
The program lightroom.exe version 3.3.0.10 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Action Center control panel.

Resetting (or 'Trashing') the Lightroom Preferences file

Hi,
in an effort to make the edit-in option in LR work, I found instructions that I need to reset the preference file for LR. I followed the following directions, see below.
However, even with holding the option key down on my iMac, as directed, I cannot find the folder and file. I do not have a Library folder under my username, but only one under hard drive, and in there I can find com.adobe.photoshop files, but no LR file. Can anybody help me?

Try making hidden folders and files visible temporarily following the steps described here Quickly Show/Hide Hidden Files on Mac OS X Mavericks & Yosemite | Ian Lunn - Front End Developer, it applies to Mavericks but I think is also valid for Yosemite (but not 100% sure). Please don't use a external drive when hidden folders and files are visible as there might be a bug with LR5.7.1 on Yosemite when they are visible (not fully sure).
When you are done with the preferences, make hidden folders and files invisible again.

Hi rseverin, just comfirm you want to see help topics? If so, you go to click 'Help->Lightroom Help', it should redirect to http://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/topics.html. If it can not work, try to input the link to your web browse directly, clear your cache if necessary. Hope this can be helpful.

Lightroom Corrupt Files

Within the last couple days, I have come across an issue in Lightroom. When transferring photos from PhotoMechanic to Lightroom, the file becomes corrupt. The issue comes when the file is brought into Lightroom (and even Photoshop).
I have an inkling it is something to do with my computer. I have used multiple memory cards. And tonight following the game, a colleague of mine imported the photos onto his computer through both PhotoMechanic and Lightroom with no issues to any image.
Equipment:
Canon 1Dx
MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Early 2013)
Here's what it looks like in my Library view:
Here is how the file looks in PhotoMechanic (left):
Lightroom is updated to the latest 5.7 version and Camera Raw is updated to the latest 8.7 version. My colleague, who's computer everything worked correct on, was using the same version of both programs.
I can rule out that it is not the memory cards, camera body, memory card reader. I feel that it is something within my software or the laptop itself.
Any help would be appreciated.

It will not be the software. BTW Photomechanical just uses the jpeg previews in the file not the raw data.
Are you sure it is not the car reader or cable?? How did you rule this out??
I would suggest the ram may be faulty or the hard drive is failing but probably ram. Take it to Apple.
