Lightroom 3.6 and Nikon D5200 Compatibility
I have been using Lightroom 3.6 for a few years.I recently bought a Nikon D5200. I shoot exclusively in RAW. When I tried to import my RAW images, a message says it does not recognize the Nikon D5200. I tried converting my setting to import as DNG and it still doesn't work. Am I going to have to purchase a more recent version of Lightroom?
You have to install the DNG Converter on your computer it is a stand alone program and its only function is to convert raw files from supported digital cameras to the dng file format. You will have to somehow have the files transfered from your camera to a folder of your choice then you can use the DNG Converter to convert the files in the folder. To do this boot the program and then select the folder that contains the raw files. See attached screen capture.

hello. Is Nikon D5200 compatible with Lightroom 3 ? (sorry for my poor english)
The D5200 requires at least Lightroom 4.3. You will either have to upgrade, and it might as well be Lightroom 5 because Adobe doesn't sell Lightroom 4 anymore. You would have to find and from a retailer. Or, you could download the latest version of the DNG converter and use it for a few months and wait for Lightroom 6. The upgrade price will probably be the same.

Tethering issue lightroom 4.4 and Nikon D800
I'm having trouble tethering my Nikon D800 to Lightroom 4.4.
Attempts at tethering mostly produce "No Camera Detected" after File > Tethered Capture in Lightroom.
There have been some occasions however when the camera was detected and tethering functioned for a short while.
These successful occasions happened using the same approach and equipment.
I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit Version 6.1 (with i7) and both camera and Lightroom have been updated.
From Terry: [email protected]Thanks for the help. I have made progress this way: I updated the drivers for the Nikon D800 on the computer. Lightroom and Nikon's ViewNX2 were already fully updated. This didn't help. I deleted NikonView, restarted, and found the problem gone. Lightroom tethers as it should without ViewNX2 on the machine. This is still a mystery to me but I can tether.

Lightroom 4.1 and Nikon D700 in Tethered Mode
Lightroom 4.1 is not seeing my Nikon D700 in tethered mode.
(I'm on a big Mac Pro running 10.6.8.)
The Nikon has the latest firmware.
I have started the computer, the camera and the software in different sequences always getting the same result---No Camera Recognized.
Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks. The D700 does not require a menu selection setting adjustment for tehtered shooting ... it is accomplished directly via the camera's firmware. Same for D800/D800e/D3s/D4 and the D300s ... and several other Nikon models ...
There were some problems reported for tethered shooting with OS X 10.6.8 that I don't think Adobe has addressed. Apparently Apple changed how USB connections are handled in that OS version, though other tether software options seem to work ok ... beyond that, you can use the Image Capture.app (found in your Applications folder) ... if the app recognizes the camera it will show the files contained on the camera card, secondly, if you go to File>Take Picture, it will open a dialog window that will allow you to actually trigger the camera with the space bar on the keyboard (or the camera's shutter release) and download the image taken to the folder you select in the option on the top right of the dialog ... If this works, then you know your camera and USB cable are working properly. -
Lightroom 2.2 and Nikon D700
I am using LR 2.2 for D700 NEF files, using camera standard profile however there are still strange color tints and the white balance is very difficult to nail, I need to adjust HSL separately for different colors, especially under artificial light. I cannot replicate Nikon Capture NX2 color accuracy and tones, any suggestions?
-ArashIt looks like the Cryptobola website is down. try this link:
http://www.netzwelt.de/download/11699-rawnalyze.html
It is for version 2.9.7.0...the latest version available was 2.10.4.0. I downloaded Rawnalyze 2.9.7.0 from the above site and the ZIP folder contains some other links. Just use the one (1) Rawnalyze.exe file, which checks OK on virus scan. If it doesn't open your camera's RAW file format, try converting to DNG. DNG files should work for any camera model and give the same RAW image view analysis, without any formatting. There is no manual in the download, but Rawnalyze is not to hard to use. Make sure you check the 'RAW Clipping' box. It will show both white and black point clipping.
You may also want to investigate Uniwb (Uni White Balance), which is a method for more accurate setup of your camera's histogram and highlight clipping warning. -
Nikon D5200 and Lightroom 4 - Incompatible Raw Files
I just purchased a Nikon D5200. When I attempted to import my photographs into Lightroom 4, the raw files were incompatible. Every support topic I found said that I needed to go to the help menu in Lightroom and click "check for updates." But when I go to the help menu there is no option to check for updates. After I attempted to import the files and the dialog box said that the import failed there was a option to check for updated. When I clicked on this nothing happened.
I manually downloaded version 4.4. I installed it, but when I open Lightroom it still says I am running 4.1. I have restarted Lightroom and my computer. On my MAC, Lightroom has ALWAYS replaced the old one. This has been on Snow Leopard thru Mountain Lion. It just replaces the "Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4.app" in the applications folder with the new package. The Dock icon then points to the new one. I have never ran a RC so maybe this has something to do with it.

I'm having troubles converting my raw files from Nikon D5200 (NEF) to DNG. I tried using Lightroom 4, but it didn't identify the folder containing the files. So i downloaded the latest DNG converter but that too didn't identify the files kept in the folder location. So I downloaded DNG converter v7.3 for D5200. It identifies the folder and files; but it is giving me parsing error on trying to convert files. I'm running Windows Vista Home Edition SP1. Kindly advise. Thank you.
I probably missed this detail in what you’ve posted, but do you see the thumbnails of the three cameras’ raw files in Finder if you don’t convert to DNG?
What has happened in the past is that the Apple raw interpreter doesn’t read thumbnails of DNGs it doesn’t like, where at least one thing it didn’t used to like was embedded lens corrections for mirrorless cameras. Are the Olympus and Panasonic mirrorless—meaning there is no optical viewfinder and everything is seen on an LCD screen or perhaps an electronic view finder? If so the reason these are different is that the camera is doing the lens distortion corrections automatically and this information is stored in the raw files and in the DNGs but Apple doesn’t know how to use these embedded lens corrections or doesn’t know how to read the newer DNG spec that does allow for this information to be embedded in the DNG, at least.
Apple could just extract the embedded jpg preview and ignore the other parts of the file it doesn’t understand, but it apparently doesn’t do this.
What I’m not sure about is if the Apple raw interpreter still has this problem or if you’re on an older system without the latest updates for camera raw decoding by Apple. -
Lightroom not supporting Raw files from Nikon D5200
hi only new here ,has any one else found this problem ,just bought the Nikon D5200 and i always shot in RAW but have now found after my first shot with the new camera that Lightroom 4.3 wont support Raw Files from this camera
Yes it does.
See here: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
Scroll down to Nikom (it goes alphabetically by vamera makers), tne D5200 is listed as being supported in Lr 4.3.
What does Lr say? Do you get an error message?
Also, did you use an older version of Nikon Transfer or Niko n View? There is something in these older versions that makes the files not readable for Lr.
Update any Nikon software you might have. -

Nikon D5200 and old LR versions?
I have purchased the Nikon D5200 and want to use Lightroom to edit my images. Will the older versions of Lightroom have the built in presets to cope with the distortion that is often seen at the wider angles with the Nikon? If not, what is the oldest version that I can get? Thanks
Lr4.3 will read the files... but why not just get the latest Lr5.2??
Yes, lens correction will be applied for most lenses.
You will need to check the lens or lenses you have against the listings on the Adobe site but most commone Nikon leses have profiles. -
When using the camera downloader in Adobe Bridge CS6 with Nikon D5200 we are unable to see previews of the photos and it is very slow to download. The issue occurs under a the users rights, but not under admin level. This is a new issue.
Hi Jdentremont,
Lync client gets user photos by first querying the Address Book Web Query (ABWQ) service on the server, which is exposed through the Distribution List Expansion web service. The client receives
the image file and then copies it to the user's cache to avoid downloading the image each time it needs to be displayed. The attribute values returned from the query are also stored in the cached Address Book Service entry for the user. The Address Book Service
deletes all cached images every 24 hours, which means that it can take up to 24 hours for new user images to be updated in the cache on the server.
To troubleshoot your problem, please follow the steps below:
1. Navigate to
“X:\share\1-WebServices-1\ABfiles\000000000\000000000” folder. (ABS file share)
You should see some photo files in this folder as the following screenshot.
2. Delete all the files in this folder.
3. On test PC, delete local cache files.
%userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Lync\[email protected]
4. Sign-in Lync with the test account.
5. Go back to the ABS file share, check if there is any Photo file in the folder.
Best regards,
Eric

I have windows 7 operating system.
Thank you for your help I have already downloaded ACR 8.7 and tried to download DNG converter will have to back track on this as didnt recognise the file when I downloaded it. is the problem now that I need to change my files to DNG from NEF files before opening in photoshop?
Please be patient as I seem to have got the jist of the problem but not sure the converter is on my computer what should I be looking for? -
Need help understanding why the NEF files created by my D700 work fine in both Lightroom 2.7 and Photoshop CS4, but the same file format created by a Nikon D600 keep getting a unkown error when I try to import or open them.
You can either upgrade Lightroom or use Adobe's Free DNG Converter to make a backwards-compatible file for LR 2.x to read. New camera support is only effected on current versions of LR and Adobe Camera Raw and your version(s) do not support the D600.
