    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
The above list show the current camera models supported by Adobe Camera Raw (plugin for PS CC) and Lightroom 5.3.
You will see that the Df Raw support was provided in the latest version of LR 5.3.   Support for the D300s was introduced in LR 2.5. (the NEF files are different.)
Lightroom and Adobe Camera Raw can only be updated after the camera manufacturer has produced the camera and made it publicly available. If you are using an earlier version of Lightroom then that is your problem.
Please post details of the version you are using at present.

When importing raw photos from Nikon D90 aperture seems to automatically adjust exposure darker. why? How can I stop this?

This is typical of the default NEF RAW conversion of Aperture and the best thing you can do is set up a few presets to apply to all of your RAW images to get a tone curve and colors that is pleasing to you as a default. The in camera JPEGs / embedded JPEGs (that you first see during import) are treated to the Nikon "Picture Control" settings that are set on the camera - the RAW's as interpreted by Aperture are not.
I have written extensively and even have a few downloadable presets on my site - look for NEF...

  • Cannot open .avi files imported from Nikon d90 in Adobe Premiere 6.0.

Cannot open .avi files imported from Nikon d90 in Adobe Premiere 6.0.
When I try to open the file I get the following error message:
    "cannot open that file
the file uses an unsupported file compression format"
I really need urgent help with this so if you know a soloution, please post it!

I don't do mjpeg so you will have to search the forum for advice
But... having a playback codec installed does not ALWAYS mean the codec will work for Premiere editing
After you search the forum and find the (I think free) codec vendors, you will need to install fresh so Premiere will "see" the codec for editing
    Or, Google
    convert mjpeg avi
To convert to DV AVI type 2 with 48khz sound so the files will "natively" edit in Premiere
My GUESS (you didn't say) is the d90 is a STILL camera that has a video function, not a true camcorder
If you plan to do much video work, you need a tape-based DV camcorder so you use Firewire to do a digital transfer as a "real" AVI that Premiere may edit without conversion or extra software
For a Firewire DV Camera - look at Panasonic PV-GS320 or GS500 (Note that I have not used either, but they have good reviews)

Trying to import photos from Nikon D90 camera.  Computer saying all files are unreadible.  Impossible!!! Just imported to laptop.  Anyone know what would cause this message.

I've tried IPhoto and Nikon View.  IPhoto does nothing and Nikon View says files unreadible.

  • Lightroom 4 tethering unusable with Nikon D800

I am on LR 4.4 using Nikon D800E.
I had been using LR tethered with some intermittent locking issues since LR 3 with my Nikon D300.
About 4 months ago, I purchased a Nikon D800E and started to use it tethered (as I had done with the D300) with LR 4.
It would lock up consistently and I would have to reboot the computer to regain functionality. This would happen so many times during a shoot, that tethering just became unusable.
After much testing, It turns out that the problem occurs when the camera's buffer reaches zero. LR consistently is unable to recover from this zero condition. Periodically it will allow one more shot after a bit (as if it tried to recover), but the shot in LR has an esclamation mark by it as damaged data. And at that point it will never recover without a complete computer reboot.
I'm shooting with a team in studio - I can't have LR be this flakey - It is not acceptable to not be able to reach a zero buffer condition while shooting (I'm using Profoto and it can recycle faster than the camera can send to LR). It is not usable in its current state tethered with a Nikon D800. Just not usable.
I had to switch to using Nikon's Camera Control 2 (which functions perfectly and never has trouble recovering from a zero buffer condition), until Adobe can fix this significant bug.
Come on Adobe - Fix your software so it functions.
P.S. I also noticed that conveniently Adobe removed the functionality of their report a bug link.

After exhaustive testing (including trialing Phase One's Capture One Pro 7), it appears to be a bug in Adobe's SDK used in both LR4 and Capture One Pro 7.
    Here is the results:
Well this has been over a month of testing.
The problem is that the D800(E) can't recover from a zero buffer condition when shooting tethered with LightRoom 4 or Phase One's Capture One Pro 7.
It recovers just fine when using Nikon's own Camera Control Pro 2.
This started when I moved from the Nikon d300 which I had been shooting tethered with LR4 just fine, to the D800E. If I shot faster than the buffer and got the buffer down to zero, the next shot would produce a digitally corrupted image and then stop functioning. The buffer would not free up. It would take a reboot of the software to get it working again. Sometimes just turning the camera off and on would get things working again.
I was sure it was Lightroom, as I had tethering instability with earlier versions of LR. So I switched to using Nikon's Camera Control Pro 2 to tether and the problem went away. So I was sure it was LR. I also posted within the LR forums and another user experienced the exact same issue.
Today, I installed Phase One's Capture One Pro 7 software ( lists the D800E as supported for tethering - confirmed with a phone call to Phase One ).
Exact same issue. Exactly the same.
So, tomorrow I'm contacting Nikon because I'm thinking it has to be their SDK that they're providing to both Adobe and Phase One.
Oh and I also upgraded to the just released Nikon D800 firmware - no change.
If it's their SDK it means there's little chance of a solution in the near future, because first waiting for them to fix it and then waiting for the vendors to upgrade to the newest SDK release.
So apparently the ONLY way to tether with the D800 is Nikon's own tethering software, which although the tethering is reliable and fast, the viewing, etc is tedious at best.

  • Importing video from Nikon D90 to iMovie by USB memory card reader

    Hi,
I've been trying to import the videos in my camera (Nikon D90) using memory card reader (USB).
I always transfer the photos to computer using memory card reader and my new Mac seems to be happy to import the photos to iPhotos. That's a good news!
However, when I try to transfer the video from D90 to Mac using the same card reader, the videos go to iPhoto straightaway. I can't import the video to iMovie! I can find the videos in Finder (All Movies), and iPhoto, but can't transfer them to iMovie. Can anybody tell me how to do this? .. if it's possible.

You can download a free copy of ViewNX2 from the Nikon Website. This software will install a program called Nikon Transfer 2 and will take over the auto loading from iPhoto when you insert a memory card into your card reader. Then you need to import the footage manually into iMovie 11. But before you do that, ViewNX2 has a built in movie editor to allow you to trim the footage before import.
    Hope this helps..

  • HELP! Converting video captured w/Nikon D90 into usable codec w/FCP 5.1

I'm going crazy trying to figure out how to get AVI files--captured with the Nikon D90--to export with Final Cut Pro 5.1
I can't convert to ProRes as I don't have FCP 6, so how can I convert my AVI files to something usable in FCP!? I've searched and searched, but all the help forums only touch on doing this with ProRes, which again I DO NOT have on my version of Final Cut.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! I'm going out of my mind.

  • Not able to import in iPhoto 09 from Nikon D90

After upgrading to iPhoto 09 I cannot anymore import pictures from my Nikon D90.
After having performed the import in my library I can only see the thumbnails, but if I try to view the full image for editing or just for viewing full screen I just see the question mark picture.....
I have already rebuild everything I could, also tried creating a new library but still does not work , after the import I can only see the thumbnails...
If anyone can help it will be really appreciated.
    Tnx
    AP

Yes, tried and it is the same....
The problem it is not always the same:
    -sometimes I see thumbnails and when enlarge I see the exclamation mark;
-sometimes I even do NOT see the thumbnails, or see them when "moving the windows" for a fraction of a second and when enlarge always the exclamation mark.
    Tnx

  • Unsupported image format from Nikon D90 raw

I am getting the message Unsuported image format when I download my Raw photos from my new Nikon D90 camera. The screen is red. I can not determine what I need to do to correct this problem. Please help.

Thanks for the reply. I did update to the highest aperture 1.5.6, no go.
That is what I was afraid of. I wasn't sure if there was a loop hole I was missing. I love using Aperture but since I just got adobe photoshop elements 8, I can't see paying more $ for an upgrade on aperture 3 when pse will do relatively the same thing. I always shoot in raw. Any other suggestions?
BTW your wife will love the D90, it is an awesome camera. Just did a wedding with it and it did it all. Didn't even need my backup D50. You know what they say, If momma isn't happy, nobody is happy.

  • Import .avi files from Nikon D90 to FCE

    Hi,
Does any of you have experience with importing the HD video files from a Nikon D90 into FCE? Does it require FCE 4 or is FCE 3.5 good enough? I like to mix it with footage from my Canon HV30, which imports fine to FCE 3.5.
    Thx for you help!

The material has to be converted to the Apple Intermediate Codec. You can probably do this using MPEG Streamclip.

  • Best settings to render video in HD and best for web, from Nikon D90?

Hi all. I am just starting to try video edition. Ive got a Nikon D90. I'm using Premiere CS5. I did a video, dropped the .avi files on the workflow and everything went fine, rendered on  Quicktime format/preset NTSC DV 24p. Got two questions:
    1) Is there any recommended setting to start a project, and;
    2) Any recommended setting to both render on its highest  quality and an internet quality?
And same for audio (got a zoom H4N), recording in best WAV quality.
    Thanks in advance!

More close to home: Adobe TV.
    1. Drag a clip from the project panel into the New Item icon like this;
    2. Depends on which player you want to use.

  • Does iPhoto Support RAW from Nikon D90?

I shoot in RAW. I had a D80 and iPhoto would import my RAW photo files ok. I just got a Nikon D90 and iPhoto will not import my files. Any ideas?
    Lee

    Lee:
In the meantime you might see if Adobe DNG Converter and Camera Raw 4.6 is compatible with the D90. That would let you convert the RAW files to the DNG (digital negative) format which iPhoto does support. There's other RAW converters available. Go to VersionTracker.com and search for RAW.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • When will Lightroom have tethering support for Nikon D4s?

Lightroom 5 does not support tethering to my Nikon D4S.  Can somebody tell me when this will available?

Okay so I should be asking Adobe direct, thanks.
I did find that Nikon released the developer software for the D4S back in february so just could'nt uderstand the delay especially as adobe never seems to be late taking my money each month.

  • Can't open NEF files from Nikon D90 in CS4.

I had to uninstall and reinstall PS CS4, now I am unable to open my NEF files. I've used CS4 for years and always been able to open NEF files. Any idea what is going on? Any suggestion? I'm computer illiterate so please keep any answers as simple as possible. Thanks

So your Camera Raw is not up-to-date.
The Nikon D90 was first supported in Camera Raw 5.1
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
and CS4 is compatible with Camera Raw up to version 5.7
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/camera-raw-compatible-applications.html
If Help > Updates in CS4 still says you're up-to-date then try installing Camera Raw 5.7 manually
