Lightroom 5 not rendering the color red correctly

Out of the blue, LR5 has decided to render red as a dark orange - similar to the orange in the SF Giants team colors.  But red in the LR5 import previews is correct.  It's also correct in a different editor, Faststone Image Viewer and Irfan View.
It's orange when opened in Camera RAW 8.1 from PS Elements 10.  So the culprit would seem to be Camera Raw 8.1.
A picture is worth a thousand words:

Couldn't you reach 120 Luminance in Eye One Match in advanced mode using the display's Brightness control? Are you using on the 'Custom' display preset mode and adjusting the RGB controls in Eye One Match for 6500K? Try downloading the latest Eye One Match v3.6.2 software, uninstall what you have now and reinstall with the new download v3.6.2. Something's wrong with the calibration process.
Please provide your display control settings, including Brightness, Contrast, RGB Color, and any other display control settings. Here's what TFT Central used:
Calibrated Settings
(Custom mode)
luminance (cd/m2)
121
Black Point (cd/m2)
0.18
Contrast Ratio
672:1
Firstly I calibrated the screen using LaCie's software suite while also changing the monitor to the 'Custom' preset mode, affording me access to the RGB colour controls. During the calibration process the screens brightness was adjusted to 20%, with contrast being left at 50%. RGB values were altered to 92, 90 and 98 respectively. It should be noted that OSD adjustments only form part of the calibration process with the majority of changes being made automatically at the graphics card LUT level.
After calibration, the results of the test and report were far more pleasing! Luminance was corrected nicely to 121 cd/m2, with black depth being improved also to 0.18 cd/m2. This gave us a static contrast ratio of 672:1 which was adequate. The gamma was now corrected to 2.2, and colour temperature was also now recorded at 6477k (<1% out). Most impressively the colour accuracy was improved drastically, with dE average being only 0.5, and maximum being only 1.0. LaCie would consider colour accuracy to be excellent here, and this was certainly a very pleasing improvement to the default factory settings.

  • Can not control the color in JOGL

I am a beginner to use JOGL.
I find that I can not control the color, both background and foreground. The background is always Black, and foreground is always Red.
    I use canvas.setBackground(Color),
gl.glColor3*(), trying to change the color. But it does not work.
    What is the problem?
    Thanks.
    Toby

A big help for learning JOGL is reading the Red Book from OpenGL, which can be downloaded in pdf. Since JOGL is almost a direct wrapper, the function calls are identical.
To set the background color, you need to add a GLEventListener to the GLCanvas that you're using. To set the background color, in your init() method for GLEventListener do:
    public void init(GLAutoDrawable glad) {
    GL gl=glad.getGL();
    gl.glClearColor(r,g,b);
or something similar, I'm not on my normal computer so this was all from memory. Check the JOGL API for the exact method name for glClearColor. To change the foreground color, there are a bunch of various methods that are all similar to glColor3f(float r,float g,float b).
Calling this on the GL object in the display() method will set the foreground color and everything drawn that isn't using lighting will use this color.

  • The Organizer does not support the color space in the file

I just purchased and installed PSE 8 as an upgrade to PSE 6.  My catalog correctly shows all of my existing images.  However, when I try to import photos into the Organizer, I get a message that nothing was imported.  The reason given is that "The Organizer does not support the color space in the file."  This happens with photos taken on my iPhone as well as those from my Canon PowerShot A1100 IS.  Any suggestions?

  • Dynamic range of the color red in RAW files.

I have seen this issue with my 70D and my SX-50 so it seems to be an issue with Canon cameras in general (I don't know if other camera makes have this too). Whenever I photograph something that has the color red (for me I often photograph birds) the jpegs look fine but I always start with post processing of RAW files. Anywhere the red color is found I find the color saturates out very easily. I use Adobe Photoshop Essentials (PSE) for post processing and cannot get the RAW adjusted/processed to look anywhere as good as the jpeg as detail is lost when red saturates out. This is not a problem with any other color.
For now I end up opening the jpeg as RAW in PSE and start my adjustments there which give me a better picture with finer detail than starting with the original RAW file. I will post this same question in the PSE forum to see who else noticed this and what their work around is.

Re: " All digital cameras suffer from over saturation of the red channel. It is just the way they are. It doesn't matter whether it is CCD or a CMOS sensored camera."
Just for the record I have owned 1Ds2, 1Ds3, every version of 5D, etc and all have had red issued.
I now also own a Nikon D610 and there is no such issue of over saturation of the red channel in RAW. This is one reason that I shoot the Nikon over the 6D almost all the time. The added DR goes a long way. The D610 files are just easier to work with and a lot faster to reach a final image. Desaturating the red channel on the Canon files obviously causes other issues.
I am impatiently waiting for Canon to put out a camera with a comparable sensor.

  • Laserjet 2605dn - Won't print the color RED

My 2 year old 2605dn is acting up.  When I try to print a test page made up of several colors the color red comes out orange on the left side and fads to yellow on the far right side.  I have changed the toner cartridge (all cartridges are HP, no knock offs or refilled cartridges, EVER!), but the problem still exists.  I printed the supplies status page and the red column shows a full cartridge but the color is a pale pink, not red.
Can someone tell me what's going on?
    Is the printer failing?
    Can this problem be fixed?
    Thanks for any help!

  • The color red is suddenly absent

The color red is suddenly absent in all my adobe products, Ps CS3, LR2 & Br. The extreme top of the 'choose a color' window is orange where the red usually is. Even older files with lots of red when now opened are orange where the red used to be. I'm completely baffled. Is the red out of gamut somehow. On the desktop and on the web the reds seem fine so I don't believe it's the monitor which I just recalibrated today to make sure that was not causing this problem. Any ideas? The enclosed file shows up as orange.

    I'm not sure right now.
All of the colorimeters (the cheaper devices) I've tested have problems with wide gamut displays.
I even got one because it was supposed to work with wide gamut displays, and it put a green cast on everything (primary coordinates measured wrong).
    Sigh.
The ColorMunki spectrophotometer might work, but it's more expensive.
I think the calibrator makers are going to have to upgrade (and admit that their current devices are lacking) in the near future.

  • Why does the color red change from working with images in develop to library?  The color gets lighter and nothing shows a change on histogram but visually you can see it.

Why does the color red change from working with images in develop to library?  The color gets lighter and nothing shows a change on histogram but visually you can see it.

That's probably a broken display profile. The conversion from Library's Adobe RGB is different than the conversion from Develop's linear ProPhoto, so if there's a problem with the display profile it can show up this way.
Recalibrate, or if you don't have a calibrator use sRGB. If your monitor is a wide gamut model use Adobe RGB.
Assuming Windows, change it in Control Panel > Color Management > Devices, and relaunch Lightroom so that it can pick up the new profile at startup:

  • Nik Software Crash: "Could not complete the Color Efex Pro 4 command because of a problem with-"

Nik Software/Photoshop Crash: "Could not complete the Color Efex Pro 4 command because of a problem with the filter module interface."  Define, Viveza work fine, the others, Color Efex, HDR Efex, Silver Efex don't.  I called Nik and they said they were familiar with this problem and that it was an Adobe problem.  They helped me uninstall and re-install the latest version of the filters.  Didn't fix the problem.  I called Adobe technical support, they confirmed that indeed it was an Adobe problem, but, they can't help me because they no longer offer support on CS5.  I'm on an iMac with Mountian Lion 10.8.5, running Photoshop CS5.1.  I searched the internet and found this problem mentioned in several places, just couldn't find the fix.  Interesting coincidence - I had been using Photoshop and the Nik software perfectly fine, even the morning of the day it began to crash.  I got a pop-up message from Adobe asking if they could anonymously monitor my usage to better their products.  I clicked on "Ask me later."  Then, my product crashed every time I tried to use the above-mentioned Nik software filters.  ???  Why would they want to monitor my usage of a product they won't/don't support anyway?  Help someone please - I really love the Nik software.  I paid top dollar for it back in the day because people like Dan Hughes actually answered your questions themselves.  The customer support was the best in the industry.  The opposite is true of Adobe, is it not?

Thank you so much Chris.  I know I'm not the only person to run into this as both Nik/Google and Adobe acknowledged this problem.  I did however try something else to try and isolate the issue further.  I tried editing with Nik/Google Color Efex & Silver Efex, etc., in Aperture, and sure enough, the Nik/Google filters wouldn't open, or they would crash Aperture.  So - it's looking like a Nik/Google problem.  They used to be so good.  The crazy thing is that I had been using Photoshop with the Nik filters just fine, even earlier that very day.  What could have gone wrong?  Was there some kind of automatic update Saturday 3/1/14?  And it was especially weird that it happened immediately after I refused to allow Adobe to (anonymously) monitor my usage.  I'll call Nik/Google back tomorrow and tell them what you've told me, as well as letting them know their filters crashed Aperture too.  I'll report back as soon as I find a fix.  I know I'm not the only one out there who's experienced this.
    Thanks again!

  • MacBook Pro attached to a projector and won't show the color red

    Running 10.5.8
When running through a projector to give a presentation the color red has disappeared.  The first time it happened I calibrated with the Color Munki and all was well, for a while.  Now the Color Munki can't calibrate it anymore.
I've tried two different projectors (both work with another laptop)
    tried two different cables and
    two different connectors.
    Also tried different calibrations.
Today we ran disk utilities and that worked great, for an hour or two.
I would very much appreciate any help possible.
    thanks,

    Thanks for your reply.
I just went and checked and the cable is inserted snuggly on all ends.  I tried giggling it a bit to see if anything would change.  Then I switched cords and connectors and nothing changed.  Checked all was connected tightly.
Is it possible that both DVI to VGA connectors are bad?  Or do you think it is from the connection inside the laptop?  And is there any way to check?
    ~Amy
And here's a bit more info.  I just went to check things again.  I turned everything on again.  Bad color.  As I was sitting pondering things the good color popped back in.  Nothing moved anywhere.  Just as I was commenting to my husband that the color had come back, it went away again.  Still no movement anywhere.

  • "Could not synchronize the color settings because of a program error." App keeps crashing.

Hi, I keep getting this error message, "Could not synchronize the color settings because of a program error." whenever I click on Photoshop in my dock. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can you open Photoshop with the shift.key pressed?
    Boilerplate-text:
Are Photoshop and OS fully updated?
As with all unexplainable Photoshop-problems you might try trashing the prefs (after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved and making a note of the Preferences you’ve changed) by keeping command-alt-shift pressed on starting the program or starting from a new user-account.
System Maintenance (repairing permissions, purging PRAM, running cron-scripts, cleaning caches, etc.) might also be beneficial, Onyx has been recommended for such tasks.
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/system_disk_utilities/onyx.html
Weeding out bad fonts never seems to be a bad idea, either. (Validate your fonts in Font Book and remove the bad ones.)

If 3rd party plug-ins are installed try disabling them to verify if one of those may be responsible for the problem.
