Lightroom web module

Re "Lightroom Web Module"
In the "site info" panel, I type the word "exit"
In the "web or mail link" section, I copy and paste the web page address of the page on my site
I wish it to be directed to.
I preview this with the Lightroom "Preview in Browser" button.
All works perfectly well including the exit link.
I then export it into my website "local file".
Create a link from text on my web page to the lightroom created gallery (I'm using Dreamweaver)
Then save changes in Dreamweaver and click preview in browser.
The Gallery works fine with the exception of the exit link.
I have the same problem in the Web HTML Gallery
I have also downloaded Lightroom 3.6 from Adobe labs and had the same result.
Any Suggestions
Many thanks...David

Hi Pete. Thanks for your reply.
Tried replacing exit with home without any results
Doubbled checked the link address was correct in lightroom...it was.
Just tried something I had not tried before. Up untill now, I was using only the "preview in browser" in
Dreamweaver.
When I uploaded the gallery to the remote server and went to see if it worked on my site it did !!!!
Not sure why it won't work in the "preview in browser" in dreamweaver but.....a question for bigger brains than mine..
Many Thanks for your help
Dave

  • Image Info setting in Lightroom Web Module

I watched the Turning Gate Podcast on how to customize the text used for photo titles, captions and other items in Lightrooms web module.
In the Podcast pictures I noticed that in the web module Image Info pane section there are four individual settings available: Title, Caption, Annotations and a fourth one which I could not read.
In my version of Lightroom (Version 1.3) I have only Caption and Title available (displayed). How do I get the others displayed?

    Brent,
On the left hand side double click on hard drive under "Publish Services" then do the following
In the Publish Services panel on the left side of the Library module, click the Adobe Revel connection Set Up button.
In the Lightroom Publishing Manager dialog box, look under Account and click Authorize.
Follow the prompts to allow Adobe Revel to communicate with Lightroom.
I played around with it to figure out different features of publishing Lightroom to Revel.
Once you have it set up then can create a new collection/abum by control clicking on the Adobe Revel.  Then you can add image from your hard drive by dragging and dropping them into an album.
Then select "Publish" when you are done. Log in to your Revel account and check to make sure the images show up.
You can add watermarks to the images if you like.
Let me know if you have any other questions
    Thanks

  • Question regarding using Lightroom Web Module and Zenfolio

I use LR3 and like the galleries I can make in the Web Module.  If I use Zenfolio as a web hosting service, can I upload or export my photos from LR to Zenfolio and use the galleries I create in the Lightroom Web Module,,,or do I need to use the existing gallery templates in Zenfolio?  If that is the case, other than using Lightroom to upload photos, is it's Web Gallery Module superflous?
    Thanks,
    Matthew Kraus

    Matthew,
If you are asking if you need to use LR's Web Module to export images to Zenfolio, then no you would not use the LR Web Module but rather use a plug-in to export directly to Zenfolio.  Or you can just export to your local HDD and use Zenfolio's upload module to grab the files from your local drive.
Jeffery Friedl has a nice LR plug-in for SmugMug so I am sure his Zenfolio plug-in will work nicely as well:
    http://regex.info/blog/lightroom-goodies/zenfolio
It's free, sort of, after the trial period, like 45-days as I recall, there is a limit on the number of files which can be uploaded.  When the trial expires if ya like it you just donate any amount and get to upload any number of files as Zenfolio allows in a session.
Does that help answer your question?

  • Why Does Lightroom Web Module Export Images At 240 ppi?

Firstly, please forgive my ignorance on this subject. I am in the process of getting together a website of my images and have been experimenting with preparing the images and thumbnails through Lightroom's web module. I've noticed that when opening the finished images in Elements, that they have all been converted at 240ppi. Surely, images for websites should be at 72ppi (or possibly 96ppi)? Or am I dimmer than even I thought?

should I simply ignore the resolution box?
Yes indeed. You set the size unit box in the export dialog simply to pixels and then size the right number of pixels for your web use. Typical is for example 800 pixels on the long end. The resolution box is not relevant for web use. It is really only used as a hint to a final printing size.
So I imagine the 240ppi conversion must be the Lightroom default value. Do you think?
Very likely so. I believe Lightroom, just like Photoshop, assumes 240 for files that do not start out having the tag so that is probably what happened if this started as a scan. Many scanners do not write this tag at all, but most DSLRs write the tag into their files and it is usually 240 for older generation cameras and 300 for later ones. I don't know why they do that as it is again not relevant as people print at any size they want.

  • Links in Adobe Lightroom Web Module

Does anybody know how to add links to other pages in the Web Gallery creation module.

    Er.. I do..
So do a few others, but it's not necessarily easy. Better off going to http://www.lightroomgalleries.com and using some of those galleries and editing them.

  • Need help using WEB module in Lightroom 2 for .mac/mobile me accounts

    Hello,
I need help in finding the Server path information for Lightroom 2.  I am trying to use the Web module of Lightroom and build a website and instead of going through another hosting service, I want to use my Mobile ME account, can't I do that?
I have the user name and password obviously but what is the server path, protocol, path?
    Help please!
    Thanks
    Ray

For those Mac Users using iWeb, MobileMe, and Lightroom 2, here are step-by-step instructions on how to create a web gallery in Lightroom, upload the gallery to MobileMe, and finally, how to link the uploaded files to the wesite you created in iWeb.
    1. In the Lightroom Library module, create a collection of photos you want to display in your web gallery.  For illustration purposes, we will call your collection Sunsets.  Once created, it will be listed under Collections in the left panel of Lightroom.
    2. Switch to the Lightroom Web module and select the Sunsets collection (from the panel on the left of the screen.)
    3. Chose whichever template you like (from the list of Templates in the left panel).
    4. Fine tune the appearance of the gallery using the controls in the right hand panel of Lightroom 2.
    5. When you are satisfied with the gallery’s appearance, use your keyboard to type Command-S.  That will save your template settings (give it a unique name when saving).
    6. Open up Finder on your Mac.  Inside your username folder, create a new folder… I'll call it Web Files.  (You can choose any name you like, and locate the file anywhere on your Mac HD.)  You have just created the folder username/Web Files.
    7. Back in the Lightroom Web module, chose Export, at the bottom of the right panel, and export your gallery to the folder you just made (e.g. export to username/Web Files).  By doing so, you will have created /username/Web Files/Sunsets.
    8. Once again open Finder on your Mac.  Go to /username/Web Files/Sunsets and you will see 3 files in the Sunsets folder: bin, index.html, and resources.
    9. Open a second Finder window and in it, click on your iDisk icon.  You will soon see all of the files on your iDisk.
    10. In iDisk, click on the folder called /Web.  You will now see the /Sites folder inside the /Web folder.  I.e., /Web/Sites.
    11. Drag the Sunsets file from your Mac HD to the /Sites folder on your iDisk.  E.g, drag Sunsets from /username/Web Files/Sunsets on your Mac HD to the /Sites folder in iDisk /Web/Sites.  The Sunsets folder (and the three files it contains) will now upload to your iDisk on MobileMe.
    12. Open iWeb on your Mac. Add a new page to your website.  Call it “Galleries,” or anything you like. (You can also use an existing page if you wish.)
    13.  On that “Galleries” web page (or on an existing web page), create a picture icon, or a word, or a symbol, or anything else that you will activate as a hyperlink to your iDisk web files - specifically, you will link it to the Sunsets folder you just uploaded to iDisk.
    14. Activate the hyperlink in iWeb’s Inspector.  In the URL box, type:
http://web.me.com/username/Sunsets  (Don’t forget to substitute your name for “username” and the name of your gallery for “Sunsets.”)
    15. Save your website in iWeb, and then publish your site.
You will NOT see your gallery in iWeb – you will see only the link to the gallery that you uploaded to iDisk..  To view your gallery, either make hyperlinks active, using the Inspector in iWeb and click on he link to the gallery, or visit your website on the internet.  If you want to edit your gallery, you will have to do that in Lightroom… then repeat steps 7 – 11.  You cannot edit your gallery in iWeb, but you can use iWeb to change the appearance of the link to your gallery, or to change it’s location within your website.

  • How can you develop photo galleries with multiple pages using the web module?

Going through the web module I can see there are many options for developing a web page with a single collection of photos.  How can you develop a web site with multiple pages containing different categories of photos using the Lightroom web module?

This thread will give you several ideas.
Re: How do you embed a gallery into an existing website?

  • Can LR Web module converting file name hyphens into underscores be disabled

    Hi,
I have problems when creating webpages from within LR.
First I develop the RAW files and converts them to jpegs. Under Lightroom 3 I use the following settings under "Export location":
    Export to: Specific Folder
    Add to This Catalog: ticked
Existing Files: Choose a new name for the exported file
This is thus native Lightroom. For existing files the new filenames are generated with a hyphen follwed by a numeric suffix. as follows: for FileName.jpg this would be FileName-2.jpg, FileName-3.jpg.
Afterwards I use the web module with the TTG Highslide Pro plugin to generate the webpages. For each image on the page there is a link to the original image to download it. It is here where a problem occurs. With the above mentioend naming convention (adding a hypen when files do already exist) there is no problem at all to display the photos nor as a tumbnail, nor in the slideshow.
When trying to download the high resolution image however a problem occurs. The file can't be found. This is due to the hyperlink pointing to filenames like FileName_2.jpg and FileName_3.jpg. As the image itself is having a hyphen followed by a numeric suffix it can't be found when the link is pointing to that file using an underscore instead.
So to me that's a little problem as I am not at the steering wheel at any of the two moments where a naming convention is applied; the automatic filename generation at time of export from Lightroom and the change of the hyphen to the underscore when generating the webpage.
Any Idea how this can be solved? Or having an underscore used by the automatic naming in Lightroom, or using the hyphen (leaving the filename as it is) when generating the webpage with the LR web module.
I posted that question already at the TTG forum and got the following respnse from Matthew: "Lightroom's Web module converts file name hyphens into underscores. It's not something I have any control over at all."
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Kind regards,
    Patrick

I have the same problem in that filenames created with (for instance) photographer-place--year_month_day-filename.cr2 are exported by Lightroom 3.4.1 correctly, without change, into jpg versions, but TTG Highslide Gallery Pro (or, rather, Lightroom) forces a conversion eliminating the dashes and replacing them by underscores. TTG states on its website that this is unavoidable in the Lightroom web module, and recommends entering one's wishes in the "File Handling" tab within Lightroom Preferences.
However, my LR preferences include the standard File Name Generation option "Replace illegal file name characters with: Dashes (-)" so this would indicate that a dash is not regarded by Lightroom as illegal and therefore should be left alone. As is in fact the case on a normal export from a raw cr2 to jpg: no change in Lightroom and therefore no problem. But export via LR via TTG causes an unwanted conversion from dashes to underscores.
While searching the web I came across this old post http://thephotogeek.com/ttg-web-gallery-client-selections-lightroom/
which mentions the question as a LR2 bug.
I then exported a web gallery using LR's standard web template and here too all file names are converted from dashes to underscores, despite what is entered in LR's preferences. So my conclusion is that this remains a LR bug, and no fault of TTG.
I am delighted with TTG and couldn't do without it, but am still stuck with this issue which shouldn't need to be an issue at all, if only LR would leave things alone.

  • TTG Gallery Index - Web module template

    Hello,
I'm today releasing my latest project, TTG Gallery Index for Adobe Lightroom. TTG Gallery Index allows you to generate a gallery index from the Lightroom Web module.
Be sure to read through the documentation for usage instructions.
This is a 0.9beta release. Get it:
    http://theturninggate.com/blog/ttg-gallery-index-for-adobe-lightroom
Also, there are a handful of known issues. If there be any CSS maestros among ye, I'd love some help squashing the bugs. Issues are documented at the above address.
    Feedback/suggestions welcomed and encouraged!

I'm getting an error when I try and save a Web Gallery Index template for future use.
A window pops with an Internet Explorer Script Error:
    Line: 1
    Char: 1
Error: 'return' statement outside of function
    Code: 0
    URL: agwpg://templateIcon:8/index.html
Do you want to continue running scripts on this page?
If I try and update the resulting template the line in the error
window labeled URL: will increment the number part of
    'templateIcon:x' where x will increment to 9, then 10, then 11, etc.
    Any ideas?

  • Lightroom 2.1 still crashing on Export in develop and web modules

I am running Lightroom 2.1 on a Windows XP Pro PC with 4GB of Ram, an NVidia graphics card and having found Lightroom 2 an absolute disaster when exporting files with it crashing even when exporting one file, LR2.1 is only slightly better.
I can export around 10 -15 at a time files in the develop module and export slidehows in the web module with up to 30 images or so. Any more and the computer crashes.
Adobe really MUST do something about this as amongst other things I do events and weddings and need to create slideshows for my clients of 100-200 images.
    In the meantime any tips!??
    Thanks Stefan

You have to report more about what symptoms the crash shows: blue screen, reboot, LR crashes, what does Windows say?
From your description you could have a computer with a hardware problem. Exporting is computationally intensive and taxes the hardware. I can export hundreds of pictures with no problem...
Get a tool like hwmonitor from cpuid.com and monitor your temperatures. And post more detailled symptoms.

  • Lightroom 3 - Web module - Unable to load Flash Player

Running to most uptodate version of Lightroom 3 - on OS X 10.6.4 also fully up to date.  Have downloaded and installed the latest Flash Player from the site.  This problem seems only to be on my 2.8ghz iMac with 2 gig of RAM.  Lightroom 3 and flash galleries work great on my 2ghz Macbook with 2 gig of RAM.
When accessing the web module and trying to use one of the flash templates I either get a blank black screen or a white one with the error message of Unable to Load Flash Player.  From there I hit the Preview in Browser button and a flash gallery did come up in Safari, just not in Lightroom.
Does anyone else have this problem, and more importantly how did they solve it.........

Replying to myself.... I solved the problem by creating a new User Account in my OS.  Solved the Lightroom problem and also a problem with Mini Bridge in Photoshop CS5, where it wouldn't open Bridge.

  • Lightroom 3 Web module  (Updated)

I've used Lightroom 3 in the past for uploading to my website with out a problem.  Then, it seems at the same time as I uninstalled the trial version of CS5, my Lightroom 3 Web module would no longer upload to my website.
My inablity to upload information to my website has been going on for months.  I have contacted my FTP host and they say there is nothing wrong on their side.  I always check, re-check and re-re-check to make sure all my information is getting entered correctly.  I have even taken classes on the use of Lightroom 3 to make sure I am not missing anything.  When I attempt to upload the information, the exporting of files begins and it progresses all the way to "building the website" then stops after a few minutes and gives me this notice:  "an error occurred sending the file: connection to the server failed".  Can anyone please help?  Should I reinstall the program?  Will I lose all the information if I reinstall?
I should say that I'm running the latest version of Lightroom 3 on a Mac system OS X verson 10.6.8.  Any thoughts are appreciated!

I have a similar problem.  I've been using WSPP Impact, a LR3 plugin, to maintain a site with a gallery index page and 15 galleries.  Addition of each gallery has been straightforward until now.  But for the 16th gallery the WSPP publish service uploaded the photo files to my site server, but will not add the gallery index button to the index page.  This ay be a problem or limitation with the WSPP Impact plugin, but I get no reply to requests for help to the author.  Has anyone experience with this situation?

  • Lightroom 2 crashes upon opening web module

Just downloaded lightroom 2.0 LR crashes upon opening the webmodule.
    Any ideas?
    many thanks,

Thanks Henry, I'll give it a try although I have to say I'm reluctant since system upgrades always seems to cause other unexpected problems elsewhere. Also I'm surprised there haven't been more pre System 10.4.11 users reporting this problem. When I first got LR1 I had a similar problem with the web module quitting erratically and that was solved by upgrading the system from 10.4.2 to 10.4.8. Surely Adobe need to take a serious look at their Minimum Requirement specs if this problem is consistent amongst all pre 10.4.11 users? Having this amount of hassle twice just to get each version of the program functioning correctly at the most basic level doesn't half get the relationship off to a bad start.
Still I'll try your suggestion and report back
    Thanks for your help
