  • Free trial download of Oracle 10g or 11g R2 Emterprise or Standard Edition

I am tring to download a free trial version of Oracle Database 10g or 11g R2 Enterprise or Standard Edition onto my
Windows 7 system that I can install and use. I was able to download a trial copy of 10g R2 Enterprise database but the problem is that I cannot open/install the Oracle program.
    Please help!
    Bud

    Hi,
    I am using Window's 7 Home Preamium x64
Can I still use your link for the 11g R2 to download Oracle DatabaseYou can download, but you cannot install it as your OS it not certified with 10g/11g.
You said I can right click on the executable Installation file
Do you mean the Install file
I have Window's XP Compatibillity Mode and service pack 1 or 2 or 3
Can I use one of them to download the 10g R2 download to Oracle DatabaseUse the above as a workaround to run the installer. However, this does not guarantee that the installation will work smoothly as your OS is not certified.
Again, your OS has nothing to do with the download, you should be able to download the file no matter that OS you are running, but it is about the installation.
    Thanks,
    Hussein

  • Oracle JDBC driver and CF MX 7 Standard edition

    hi, guys.
is it possible to use Oracle JDBC driver with CF MX 7
    Standard edition?
all our CF servers are Enterprise edition so we never ran
    into any
    problems connecting to Oracle servers.
however, there will be a couple of new CF servers with
    relatively
simple jobs running and we're trying to determine if we can
    use the
    Standard edition instead.
I'd like to test this on my own, but CF MX 7 Standard edition
    is not
    available as a trial download.
if there's someone who's done this already, I'd love to hear
    from
    you.
can anyone shed a little light on this?
    thank you very much!

  • Can i use oracle 7.3 drivers against oracle 8 database.

When i'm executing a stored procedure with 8i driver i'm having a problem saying "Cannot Save or Rollback in distributed transaction". But when i use oracle 7.3 drivers i'm not having any problem. My question is , Can I use oracle 7.3 dirvers with oracle 8 database.
    null

I tried disabling MTS. That doesnt look to work. Somehow 8i drivers are working in a distributed transaction mode by default. I resolved configuring 8i drivers as not to use distributed mode and works fine for me.
For other who had this same kind of errors Solution is :
Disable distribution transaction off if you are managing manual transactions from your scripts. Example: connectstring= DNS=...;"DistribTx=0.
Justin,Thanks for your concerns and reply.

  • Error 315 in Oracle 6i when compiling against DB 10g

We are using Forms 6i, Patch 4. I know this is an old patch, but for internal reasons we are not allowed to apply a newer Patch.
    Database running is 10g (10.1.0.3)
    Following problem:
We want to compile a form with a PL/SQL Table and getting the Error 315 PL/SQL Table Declarations must use BINARY_INTEGER Indices.
In fact, we are using BINARY_INTEGER Indices, therefore this message is confusing me a bit.
If I compile agains our old 8i Database, which fortunately is still running, everything is fine.
I also tried to install a newer Patch for Oracle Forms and from Patch 6 onwards, compiling is fine.
Unfortunately, some of the Forms compiled with this Patch will not run under a runtime Enviroment with Patch Level 4.
As I said, there is no way to implement a newer Patch within the next 9 months for Oracle Forms.
Is there any other way to get rid of this problem?
    Any suggestions are welcome.
Thx and have a nice day
    roedelfroe

We are using Forms 6i, Patch 4. I know this is an old patch, but for
internal reasons we are not allowed to apply a newer Patch.
Database running is 10g (10.1.0.3) I find it particularly curious that you have chosen to move to the absolutely latest version of the database, yet refuse to move the Forms patch level forward.

  • Is it possible to enable Java in oracle 10g express with the oracle jvm?

I've oracle 10g express installed. I would like to create java stored procedures in a schema. But, how do I have the database java-enabled?

    It might be possible.
Realize, however, that the Oracle JVM is a component of the Standard Edition One and higher - so to be able to use it you need to license Standard Edition One or higher.
If you are going to violate the license anyway, why not stick with an Edition that contains the JVM.

  • Running Designer 6.0 against Oracle 11 - Getting error cid-20002

When we try to Oracle Designer 6.0 against Oracle 11 we get error message cid-20002.
Some of the functions work but not all and the ones that don't work gives us the error above.
What is cid and where can I find info about it?
    suggestion pls!

Best suggestion you turn to a supported configuration, only Designer version 10gR2 (10.1.2.4) - currently the latest version - works with 11g.

  • Oracle DB Standard Edition One

    Hello
I need to download Oracle DB Standard Edition One. From where can I download this version odf Oracle software?
    Regards

Download 'Oracle Database'. Run installer and select 'Standard Edition'. Ensure you stay in the hardware limits defined in the Licensing doc (1 server, 2 CPU max) available at http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/license.102/b14199/toc.htm

  • Installing Oracle 11gR2 Standard Edition on WINDOWS Server 2008R2 with ASM

    Hi,
I want to setup Oracle 11g DB (11.2.0.2) Standard Edition on Windows Server 2008R2 x64 bit with ASM Instance. I would appreciate if you could suggest me with the following little but important questions.
The following link from Oracle doesnt have 11.2.0.2 db version for windows x64 bit. Do a patch (which I think is a complete installation) is needed to install after installing 11.2.0.1? or I can directly install 11.2.0.2?
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/downloads/112010-win64soft-094461.html
Secondly, I have no such experience regarding installing and setting up ASM Instance on windows. How many disks or etc is needed for ASM (as ASM disks). One of the admin guy said, he has 6 disks (2 for OS and 6 you can use for Oracle or ASM so so). Could you please suggest, how should I divide the disk partitions of what should I say no idea :(
Also, do ASM instance (diskgroups, disks) should be setup before creating DB (through dbca?)
    I was thinking like:
    - Installing Oracle software
    - Creating ASM disks,diskgroups,instance,etc
    - Creating DB (using dbca?), isnt' it?
    Bundle of thanks in advance.
    Best Regards

  • How to choose 10g Standard Edition One.

    Hi,
Does anyone know how to choose 10g Standard Edition One during the installation process ? There are only two type to choose: Enterprise and Standard Edition.
And is Standard Edition One defined by product or license ?
    Thanks!

    Oracle Standard Edition:
Standard Edition is designed for smaller businesses and enterprises. It offers a subset of the features/ functionality implemented in Enterprise Edition. Database options like Data Guard, Partitioning, Spatial, etc. is not available with Standard Edition (from 10g one can use RAC with Standard Edition). Standard Edition can only be licensed on servers with a maximum capacity of four processors.
    Oracle Standard Edition One:
Standard Edition One is a low cost, entry-level version of the Oracle Standard Edition database server. Standard Edition One can only be licensed on small servers with a maximum capacity of two processors.

  • Running Oracle 9i client code against an Oracle 10g install on PC

On Unix I am able to run Oracle 9i client code against an Oracle 10g install by setting ORACLE_HOME to the Oracle 10g install location and then creating a symbolic link (example: ln -fs libclntsh.so.10.1 libclntsh.so.9.0).
On PC (in particular XP SP2) I want to do something similar without using "junctions" or "junction points". Is there a way to set an environment variable or ini file to have my 9i client code point to the right libraries? I keep getting an error saying that my client code will not run due to "orasql9.dll" not being found. The "orasql10.dll" is installed on my machine.
    Any assistance would be appreciated.

You might want to check metalink doc,
Client / Server / Interoperability Support Between Different Oracle Versions
    Doc ID: Note:207303.1
Even your application built on 9i, doesn't mean it will not work with 10g database. From what I can see, running 9i executable under 10g installation to create mixed blood breed will do more harm than good. Not only it's not supported but also the outcome is unpredictable.

  • Why would oracle 9i drivers faster than oracle 10g drivers against a 10g?

I'm skeptical of the claim but we have a system at work and tests have been done that apparently is showing that the older oracle 9i thin jdbc driver is performing a fetch faster than the 10g driver. This for a query that is currently doing a full table scan.
Is there a default setting in 10g vs 9i that can explain why the perceived query performance is faster with the older thin driver?

    steffi2 wrote:
What was observed was that when they started using the old Oracle 8.1.7 8i client jar against this 10g data the actual execution plan changed dramatically to use indexes where was previously it was not doing so and it was doing a full tablescan.
Why would the introduction of the old 8i jar have this affect?Maybe the test is flawed. For example one test was run with the network was loaded while the other wasn't. Or different connection parameters.
That said I believe somewhere the claim has been made that Oracle drivers changed from one API to another somewhat recently. Thus that could be the source.
Or maybe something to do with hints.

  • What is limit of database size in oracle 10g standard edition/edition one

    Hai All,
What is the limit of database size in oracle 10g standard edition and standard edition one.. I see the white paper of oracle says that the limitation is 500 GB. This limitation is correct.? if correct then what happened after the limit..?
    Please help?

What white paper would that be? I can't see any limit in the Oracle Database 10g Editions comparisons.

  • Oracle 10g(10.1.0.4) , BusIntelligence 10g(10.1.2),   ApSrv 10g(10.1.2)

I have all ready successfully installed Oracle 10g Database 10.1.0.4 with appropriate olap patch.
The latest version of Analytical Warehouse Manager (10.1.0.4) is also installed and working prior to installing application server 10g(10.1.2)
1.Installed AS10g(10.1.2) - Infrastructure Tier - Successful Installation and services running
2.Installed AS10g(10.1.2) - Application Server Mid Tier - Successful Installation and services running
3.Installed Business Intelligence 10g (10.1.2)Tier - Successful Installtion and services running
    4. Using Enterprise Manager, tried to install the Discoverer Catalog, and authorise the schemas that will contain data that Discoverer will analyze.
    - Attempted to do this against the Oracle 10g (10.1.0.4) instance above and recieved a horrific looking 'INTERNAL SERVER ERROR'
Rebooted the server and took down all the services related to the application server and BI install (Only Services required by 10.1.0.4 Oracle 10g are running)
Retested the Analytic Workspace Manager 10g Release 1 now unfortunately obtaining an 'java.sql.SQLException:t2cGetCharSet' error trying connect to 10.1.04. Oracle 10g database

  • Problem about using Oracle Form 6i to connect Oracle Database 10g express.

Sorry to interrupt all of you.
I have encountered a problem about using Oracle Form 6i to connect Oracle Database 10g express.
    As I would like to
I use Oracle Net8 Easy Config to create a connection.
    According to "tnsnames.ora", the paramater of connection is as follows;
    XE =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 127.0.0.1)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA = (SID = XE))
Unfortunately, when I use Oracle Net8 Easy Config to test the connection, an error message is prompted as follows:
    Connecting....
    The test did not succeed.
ORA-03106: fatal two-task communication protocol error
There may be an error in the fields entered
or the server may not be ready for a connection.
You can check the server and retry, or continue.
After I google it, I still have no idea how to solve the problem. I would like to ask, could anyone mind providing some hints or solution to address the issues.
Thanks for your assistance in advance.

I don't believe the Net8 Easy Config (NEC) will create a compatible entry in the tnsnames.ora. I have Forms 6i running successfully against a 10g Express database, but I did not use the NEC - I created the entry myself. Here is the entry I use:
    XE=
      (DESCRIPTION=
        (ADDRESS=
          (PROTOCOL=TCP)
          (HOST=<<servername or IP address>>)
          (PORT=1521)
        (CONNECT_DATA=
          (SERVER=dedicated)
          (SERVICE_NAME=XE)
      )Hope this helps,
    Craig B-)
