Limited User Rights inquiry

Dear All.
Is it possible for a limited user in SAP Business One to see other modules as well just for information? Or they cant drill down to any module other than they are assigned for?
Thanks,
Khurram

Dear Khurram,
A license for a limited user will only have privilegious to  see all the modules included for that license.
However, the authorizations could be used in conjuction to limit even more the access to the B1's funcionalities. But the authorization will not provided extra privileges to a  limited user (i.e to have acces to all Professional license modules).

  • Extended user rights and 500 users limits on a PDF Form

    Hello,
I read that there's 500 users limits for using extended user rights on Acrobat Pro 9.
    Here's my situation:
    - I built an application PDF form with extended user rights for Adobe Reader users to save the form. And I'm going to be hosting it on the web for users to download the PDF form to their local hard drive.
    - The form will have a button to submit to a web page with a script for processing FDF, XFDF, XML, or HTP form export.
    My question is:
    1. Would it be violating the 500 users limits if more than 500 users download the form and save the PDF after filling out fields, but not submit the data back to the server?
    2. What would happen if more than 500 responses are received through above method? Would new visitors still be able to save the PDF form for their archive purpose after downloading it from our web site?
    Thanks.

Can Adobe's licensing department define "extract"?  I know there is a lot of confusion here and I'm trying to understand.
Here is our scenario:  We have developed an Adobe fillable form which we will be sending to 1000 customers.  Customers can open the form (in Reader v9.5 and greater) and fill out the form, validate it and then print it.  The customers are not sending the PDF files back to us and the PDF data is not being collected so there is no data we can extract from Adobe files (we are not that advanced yet).  Customers will just print the information, then fax or send back to us by U.S. Mail.
When we receive the completed information (via fax/mail, not PDF), we read information off our form.  Does Adobe consider reading our information “extracting” with our eyes?  I’m not sure how they can consider that extracting?  I would think Adobe owns the mechanism (aka PDF file) for validating our content, but they wouldn’t own the content on our form if we want to physically read it, right?
Adobe needs to clarify this more clearly and I’ve ready their interpretation of the Policy, but it doesn’t address this scenario.  http://www.adobe.com/products/eulas/pdfs/Reader_Extension_Policy_A10-5-31-2011.pdf
George, I don't think you are an Adobe Employee.  I see you are a MVP, but you are not officiall speaking for Adobe are you?
    ---Thanks.

  • Acrobat 8 Form - "This Operation Not Permitted" error when enable user rights and open Reader X

I have a form which is causing me fits.  It was created from an existing PDF form to which I added data fields using LifeCyele Designer.
When I enable user rights to the document and try to open it in either Adobe Reader X or Acrobat 8 Pro I get the message "This operation is not permitted" twice.  Once I get rid of the messages the form works fine.
Is there a way to upload the form to this forum for someone to look at it?
With my limited knowledge, I did try to investigate embeded font issues and hidden object issues.  But after much work I've not gotten much closer to a resolution.
    Best,
    David

You cannot upload the file to the forum, but you can use Acrobat.com or Dropbox if you have an account. If you ha e no other options I'd be happy to take a look: acroscript at gmail dot com

  • Can I downlaid Firefox on my Administrator account but have it not be accessible to the Limited User Account?

I have Windows XP and want to know if I can download and use Firefox on the Administrator account only and it not be accessible to the limited user account. The reason is is we don't want our kids having access to to more than one tab at a time. any suggestions?

    Yes you can,
    # locate firefox.exe file in a directory similar to C:/program files/mozilla firefox/firefox.exe
    # right click it, select '''properties'''
    # add access to your account and remove any entries for other accounts you don't need.
Please let us know whether that works for you.

  • Satellite M40-307: Accessibility utility doesn't work with limited user account

    Hello everybody,
I have got a Satellite M40-307 (PSM44E), and I have got a problem with the "accessibility" utility, that displays an icon in the Windows XP notification bar, to let the user know whether the "Fn" key is active or not.
That this utility would not work for the administrator would not worry me a lot, as the administrator is supposed to know what he does. But the limited user does not have access to it, this more bothering.
In an administrator session, this utility works pretty fine. But in a limited user session, if I try to launch it by [runas /user:admin "C:\Program Files\TOSHIBA\Windows Utilities\TACSPROP.exe"],
I am answered that the file TCMSVR.DLL cannot be found. If I launch it normally, a message tells me that this utility requires I am connected as an administrator.
So, what can I do to use this utility normally, i.e. in a limited user session*?

    Hello Markus,
    Did you read ?
I executed TACSPROP with the admin rights, and it does not run.
So, to follow you, I had a look, on TACSPROP.EXE and TACSPROP.DLL, the users had "read/execute" and "read" rights. I provided "full rights", and it solved nothing.
Obviously another program must be launched before, that is by default launched only by the administrator, and I am searching what program it is.
    Thank you.

  • Toshiba Power Saver doesn't work with limited user account

    Hello,
this same question was posted in 2006 - not by me - with no successful answer. I try again.
If you create a user with restrictions account (member of the local USERS group) in XP, then he cannot manage either the embedded Windows power options, and the Toshiba Power Saving tool.
I managed, working on file and registry permissions, to have the Windows power options working. But I still can't launch the Toshiba Power Saving tool, it always pop-ups the "you don't have rights" box.
Is there really nothing I can do to work around this?
    thanks

I have the exact same problem on my Tecra 9100 (PT910E) just accquired on Ebay with minimum XP Pro SP2 installation.
Akuma I tried to your advice with my Power saver version 5.04.00 (file 20071126153401) without success.
The only way I could find to run Power saver is directly from the icon in the Admin account, or through the console. I could not then find "setup options" only "Details" of the various power schemes. No "Allow Limited User to change settings" box/button anywhere.
    Can you clarify further ?
    thanks

  • Why don't java applets run when using Firefox 4.0 in a windows limited user account?

Java applications will not run in Firefox 4.0 when the windows user/process only has limited user access rights. The systems, I see this behaviour on have Windows XP Pro SP3, Firefox 4.0 and JRE 1.6.0_24 installed. The java application will run when when full administrative rights are present. This issue did not occur with the 3.6 firefox version that was previously installed.

The problem also exists with the newer Firefox 4.0.1 and Java 1.6.0_25 versions.
Enabling administrative rights resolves the issue ... though this defeats the purpose of using a limited user.
The underlying bug appears to be in the Firefox java plugin detection code. The issue is related to the detection code requiring write access to the HKLM\SOFTWARE\mozilla.org windows registry key. The limited user only has read access for this registry key. The behaviour was identified using the Sysinternals ProcessMonitor utility ... showed firefox calling an interface to create the registry key and getting an access denied response in the limited user case.
A more targeted workaround for the issue is to grant the limited user write access on the HKLM\SOFTWARE\mozilla.org windows registry key. This avoids the need to grant administrative rights to the user and enables the java plugin to be detected. That is, it works on the 2 XP systems where the java plugin wasn't being detected in limited user accounts.

  • Minimum user rights to run WLS 8.1 as a Win2k service

Anyone know what the "minimum" user rights are required to run WLS 8.1 as a service
    on Win2k?
(no connections to remote server directories etc is required)

    "TomL" <[email protected]> wrote:

WebLogic can log on to Microsoft Windows NT 5.0/2000 under the
"LocalSystem" account. This is a local account used by system
    processes.
So, your WebLogic Server 8.1 service, running in the context of the
LocalSystem account, would inherit these characteristics:
    - This service cannot open the registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER...
    - This service is allowed to open registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SECURITY...
    - This service has limited access to network resources,
such as shares and pipes, because it has no credentials
and must connect using a null session...
    - If the service opens a command window and runs a batch file,
the user could use CTRL+C to terminate the batch file and
gain access to a command window with LocalSystem permissions...
    - This service cannot share objects with other applications
unless they are opened using a DACL or NULL DACL...
    - Finally, if this Service requires anything more than a
brief moment to perform necessary initialization, it may
be required to create another thread to do the common
initialization while the main thread continues with
    processing.

  • Enable User Rights in Adobe: how to always have that on?

I finally figured out why most PC users were not able to save any of the fields they filled out in my PDFs: I didn't know about the user rights feature.
Is there a way to always "Enable User Rights in Reader" to be turned on, so I don't have to remember to go the Advanced menu and select "Enable User Rights In Acrobat Reader" ?
    Many thanks!

    > It took years, and years, and years of beging and pleading. And Adobe finally threw us a Bone.
Yes. And then poisioned it with this ridiculous and undecipherable license limitation.
    > ...you would presumably know which users sent you a PDF that you enabled with Acrobat.
The mumbo-jumbo seems to assume the use of saveable forms is always for data collection, sent back to the form's creator. That is the use of
    least interest to me.
For me, it's all about creating a design-intensive document
once (a placement ad or a marketing flyer or a spec sheet), adding a few simple boiler-plate fields to it for contact information, and sending it to my client, who then sends it to his dealers. Each dealer can then edit the contact info, save it, have it printed or placed in a newspaper, use it for trade show hand-outs.
How is the creator of such a document supposed to police the 500 "uses" limit? Who is liable when that limit is exceeded? What constitutes a single "use"? (I only used the file once. The client only used the file once. Each Dealer will
edit the form content once, but may have it printed in 501 local newspapers.)
The terms are unintelligible and probably unenforceable. This confusion has existed ever since Adobe finally threw the bone. The stupid paranoia poison just needs to be removed.

  • M70: Permissions, wallpaper and limited user

    Hi,
I have spent some time (i.e. a few days of mucking around) setting up a new M70 (PSM70A-T00E) notebook which has WinXPSP2 preinstalled (on an all-but-useless recovery DVD without the alleged "expert" option, but that's another story).
When Windows was first installed, I configured the (default) administrator and one user account (called "aburdeni"). By default, both accounts had administrator permissions.
After setting things up the way I like them, I am now trying to convert the user account to a limited account.
The usual method of "control panel->user accounts->...->change account type" doesn't work as it claims that there is only one account on the system (even though there's the one with the username "administrator", which it ignores for some reason).
To override this, I logged in as administrator and ran lusrmgr.msc. I then added user "aburdeni" to the User group and removed them from the Administrator group.
    Things broke.
What I have noticed now is that:
    * The default Toshiba theme doesn't stick (no wallpaper, just a plain grey backdrop)
    * Control panel reverted back to the default hierarchical style, and clicking on the give-it-to-me-the-way-I-like-it text on the left-hand side didn't do anything.
    * Other settings (taskbar, start menu style) reverted back to the default.
There are probably countless other things that broke, but I have yet to find them.
Setting the account to Power User instead of User made no difference. Things only started working again when I added the account back into the Administrator group.
Is there any way to have things work while logged in as an unprivileged user?
    Thanks,
    Adam
BTW: I'm from Australia, if that makes a difference (different settings for the default install?)

    Hello Adam
As far as I know there is no difference in which country you live because operating systems are the same for all countries and some different settings depending on country are not known to me.
Please delete all created accounts. Log in as administrator and then create a new account. First step is to give the name for this new account and click on Next. Second step is to define this user (administrator rights or even limited user). Choose limited option and end the wizard.
Use Windows + L key combination and try to log in as limited user. There should not be any problem. The background picture and everything else will be set like for the first time.
You can make a small test and try to start Toshiba power utility. You will see that there is no chance to start it and change anything. It can be used just by administrator.
Please try again. It must works.
    Good luck!!!

  • What about a Windows limited user ?

    Hello everybody,
I saw that the ODBC driver is installed on a path containing the name of the Windows user who installed it.
I should like to verify one thing : can it be installed by a limited user ? If not, does the limited user use it in the path that was given for the administrator ?
This morning I wrote a question in another forum to know how to get the installation path from a script. I wonder whether I should have precised this question according to what I just asked above.

The problem also exists with the newer Firefox 4.0.1 and Java 1.6.0_25 versions.

  • Limited user license

    Hi! All,
Can anyone tell me the functionlities covered under limited user license. Specifically i want to know if limited user license can be used for release/approval process.
    Thank you for your help.
    SM

    Hi,
As per my understanding, limited professional users are upper management people who do not carry out transactions in the system. They only use reports to check out data.
Here is what SAP documentation says:
    <b>
A mySAP Limited Professional (Cat. III) user is a named user who performs limited operational related roles supported by the software. In particular employees of business third parties are to be licensed as mySAP Limited Professional users.
Those employees of business third parties that are performing functions or roles normally performed by the customer's employees, for example independent contractors, consultants or temporary employees need to be licensed as Professional Users.
The mySAP Limited Professional User license includes the rights granted under a mySAP Employee User license.
    </b>
So if you are talking about line managers who approve/reject e.g. invoives, sales orders, purchase orders, etc I think you are going to need professional user license. <b>I am open to correction though</b>
Please check with your SAP Account Manager to confirm this.

  • New MS BPC V10 implementation - migrate user rights, reports, etc

    Hi all,
I am new on BPC but had have already been involved on some other SAP implementations such as BO.
We are trying to move our BPC V10 Microsoft infrastructure from the Partner (who is supporting it) Domain Controller to ours. We decided to start from a new implementation of the BPC server then migrate the environment/models and files thanks to the server manager.
The current BPC is using IPS (with LDAP authentication) as a console management to create users then import them in BPC admin. We would like to simply configure our new BPC implementation with AD authentication straight in BPC without using IPS.
    My question is:
Do you think it will be safe to do it that way?
Do you think there could be an issue regarding the user ownership of reports, user right configuration, etc?
Please any advise would be very helpful.
    And Thank in advance,
    Jawad

    Hi Jawad,
I don't know IPS but I can give you some answer about BPC.
" regarding the user ownership of reports" BPC give you just the possibility to create bpf or custom menu where you can put links for specific reports but a smart user can open a report directly from menu "open dynamic template" and execute it.
You can give rights through security e.g. giving to one user the access only for one or some entities, or limiting other dimensions so even if he's able to open a reports not present in his bpf he cannot run it for oter entities or dimension values different from his security rights.
For packages you can insert some specific package in the team folder in this case only member of the team are able to see and execute this package.
Putting packages in company will give the possibility to all the teams/users that have the rights to execute packages to see and launch every package.
There is only a limit for the security, you cannot combine different dimension values to have specific rights, e.g. if you give rights for entity "A" and category "X", and also for Entity "B" and category "Y" you will not give the possibility to write only in category "X" when the user set entity "A", etc. but he will be able to use indiferently both categories and entities.

    Hi Jdentremont,
Lync client gets user photos by first querying the Address Book Web Query (ABWQ) service on the server, which is exposed through the Distribution List Expansion web service. The client receives
the image file and then copies it to the user's cache to avoid downloading the image each time it needs to be displayed. The attribute values returned from the query are also stored in the cached Address Book Service entry for the user. The Address Book Service
deletes all cached images every 24 hours, which means that it can take up to 24 hours for new user images to be updated in the cache on the server.
To troubleshoot your problem, please follow the steps below:
    1.  Navigate to
     “X:\share\1-WebServices-1\ABfiles\000000000\000000000” folder. (ABS file share)
You should see some photo files in this folder as the following screenshot.
    2. Delete all the files in this folder.
    3. On test PC, delete local cache files.
    %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Lync\[email protected]
    4. Sign-in Lync with the test account.
    5. Go back to the ABS file share, check if there is any Photo file in the folder.
    Best regards,
    Eric

  • How to set up time machine so it can view old backup after renewal of user rights ?

I am newbie in the mac world but I am very happy to use the devices I have.
I just both and setup time capsule and did firt initial backup with time machine into account I have setup on the TC. But after while I was not able to view my user folder, so I resetup the user rights.
But now when I turn on time machine, I say that I didnt perform initial backup. In finder I am able to see and acces my folder on TC now and there is also a file with backup with name Václav - Mac mini.sparsebundle just in the root of my user folder on TC.
Can you please help me how to tell TM, that there is a initial backup that can be used for other incremental backups in the future ?
    Thanks for your help.
    Vaclav.

I did that. But and then reopen TM but still I dont see backup performed any suggestions ?
    "Inherit" a backup
Copy the following after the prompt, and leave a space, but do not press Return yet:
                                sudo tmutil inheritbackup
If your backups are on an external HD, locate and open the drive in the Finder window.  At the top level of the drive is a Backups.backupdb folder containing a folder named for your old Mac, per the sample.  This is what you want the new Mac to "inherit." Drag that folder to the Terminal window.
(If your backups are on a Time Capsule, locate the sparse bundle containing the backups for your old Mac via the Finder, and drag it to the Terminal window):
