Link between Employee and Cost center and TCode CAT2
hi all,
can anybody tell me where is the link b/w a PERNR and Cost center (which infotype) ?
if anybody has played with Tcode CAT2, please revert back !!!!!!!!!

hi puneet,
i have to upload some data in tcode CAT2. There is Cost center that appears in header record of this employee (say 1000) in this transaction ( and say his KOSTL is D010000).
But when i try to update any other cost center with an activity type, it gives me error message and does not allow me to save data.
However, if the COST CENTER <b>CATEGORY</b> is same for all three (activity type, Cost center m tryin to upload and Cost center in header), it allows to save and upload the data.
so my ques is :-
is it necessary to have cost center category same for all the 3 fields or is there some conf. problem?
plz help !!!!!!!

For an employee they are maintain in PA0001.
For an organization in Table - HRP1000
OTYPE = O for organization
OTYPE = A for Cost Centre.
Relation ship betwen them is store in Table HRP1001.

By using CR03 T Code we can see the Display Work Center : Cost Center Assignment Screen will appear.
we need to select the costing tab, We can find Cost Center .

Difference between Cost center and profit center
I need to know what the difference is between a cost center and a profit center eg. A work center has both a cost center and a profit center. What do they collect for that particular work center.

differenc is whatever the cost involved will be collected both to the cost center and profit center, when we settle the order it will be settled in the cost element for cost center. the cost will be reflected in profit center which is assinged to the particular cost center.in profit center you can cpature revenue also which is used to map the profit loss for the concern, where as cost center will only capture the expenses

Difference between Cost Center and GL Account

I want to know that "what is the difference between Cost Center and GL Account."

Few points:
1. GL is a FI object and used for external reporting, whereas cost centers are CO objects and used for internal management reporting.
2. In GL you classify the nature of expenses like telephone expenses, travelling Exp. Salary exp etc., whereas by cost center you decide where are expenses were incurred, like Production department, Mkt. Department, HR department etc.
3. You post the FI transactions at GL level whereas the cost center are assigned to those GL account for getting the more detailed information about the expenses.
4. GL accounts are P&L and BS account and only P&L expenses accounts are posted to cost cneters. And you can choose to post it by cost center or not by defining the GL as cost element. If you do not define any GL as cost element, it will not post to cost centers.

Cost center and profit center linked to GL account
Hi All
I am obtaining the carry forward balance for the fiscal year from the table
GLT0 but I also need the cost center and profit center details for the GL account,
which I am unable to get from either GLT0 or GLTPC or GLT1 tables.
Is there any other way out. Please suggest!

NareshCost Element: cost element is an individual which carry cost like salaries, wages, power expenses, etc.. These Cost Elements are Two types
1. Primary Cost Element
2. Secondary Cost Elements
Primary Cost Element will carry cost form FI to CO (Cost Centers, Internal Orders, Cost Objects, etc )
Seconday Cost Elements carry cost with in CO to different Cost Centers, Internal Orders, Cost Objects, etc
Cost Center: Cost Center is an individual which contain collection of costs. For example Admin is a cost center, it contain costs like Salaries, Power, Rent, Stationary etc,
With this following report you can retrieve cost elements given a cost center controlling cost center accounting information systems reports for cost center accounting plan/actual comparisons

Activate the business content hierarchy datasources on R3 for cost centre and profit centre
Go into BW - replicate the metadata
Then just connect via transformations or transfer rules the datasources to yoru infosources or master data objects
Create an infopackage per hierarchy!!!!! - press the button available hirachies from OLTP - click the one you want on the left - fire it off
Then repeat new infopackages for all hierachies -
P&L by Profit Center Wise and COst Center wise

Profit Center Reporting u2013 I need a P&L by Profit Center. Unfortunately in SAP, there is no way to u201Cmarryu201D the profit center and cost center accounting into a single report that is filtered by PC/CC. Example: I need to see the P&L for my Orlando region (Profit Center and Cost Center Range = 5450 to 5459). The report should return exactly what is returned when I run a company-wide P&L through standard report: S_ALR_87012284.
In fact, if I could simply filter the standard report in SAP there would be no problem, but there is no way to do that successfully u2013 the filters inhibit the correct results. Also, the standard profit center reports are only provided at the line level, so the report is so ugly it cannot be evaluated like a simple P&L whereas S_ALR_87012284 draws upon a u201Cdesignu201D called Financial Statement Version (which I have manipulated to be what I need).

G/L Accounts and cost center
i would like to find the list of valid G/l Accounts and cost center for a input company code. Is there any good tables for getting this information. ?
I don't think there is such a thing. If a GL is valid for a company code and a cost center is valid for the corresponding controlling area, then the transaction should post. A relationship between controlling area and company code is in table A059 (Controlling Area/Company Code). This table is empty in our system, so I don't think that checks will be made.

The plant plays an important role in the following areas: <b>a) Material valuation
b) Inventory management c) MRP d) Production e) Costing (material prices valuation)</b>
A <b>Cost center</b> is an organizational unit within a <b>Controlling area</b> that represents a defined location to identify where a cost is being incurred. or an area of Responsibility for costs
If you happen to run transaction KSB1 for a cost center, where plant field is not blank, you may find some material transaction. These are trasnactions which could involve both plant and a cost center. -

Cost Center : It provides information on the costs incurred by your business. Within SAP, you have the ability to assign Cost Centers to departments and /or Managers responsible for certain areas of the business as well as functional areas within your organization. Cost Centers can be created for such functional areas as Marketing, Purchasing, Human Resources, Finance, Facilities, Information Systems, Administrative Support, Legal, Shipping/Receiving, or even Quality.

Profit Center : provides visibility of an organizationu2019s profit and losses by profit center. Profit Centers can be set-up to identify product lines, divisions, geographical regions, offices, production sites or by functions. Profit Centers are used for Internal Control purposes enabling management the ability to review areas of responsibility within their organization. The difference between a Cost Center and a Profit Center is that the Cost Center represents individual costs incurred during a given period and Profit Centers contain the balances of costs and revenues.
