Link preview on a non-force touchpad

As you are probably aware, the new early 2015 rMBP and the New MacBook use a force touchpad which, when force clicked, allows, among other things, for a feature called “link preview”. It is described by Apple as “Link previews: Force click a link in Safari or Mail to see an online preview of the webpage” which you may find below:

I am unable to preview on an external monitor in the trial version, although I could with 1.5. I'm firewire out to a Sony DSR-11 which does give preview in Premiere Pro 2 and After Effects 7.
In Edit>preferences>audio/video out, it is recognising the Sony, but reports "unknown" as status.
Can anyone please tell me what I'm missing. Thanks

I am a desktop user. You keep making changes to make me safer, which is good. But I really need a clear definition of all your terms. I do not know a lot of them. LINK PREVIEW. Task bar. None of those bars are labeled. I DO NOT necessarily know what they are called. Things are covered up with one bar on top of another a lot of the time. I clicked on all the bars and never found the one in your explanation. Q? Is there a dictionary of terms? For all the terms, ie. all the nouns and verbs in comupterese?

It is possible that the screen is too high and that the scroll bar and the find bar and add-on bar fall off at the bottom.
If that works then close Firefox (File > Exit/Quit) to save that setting.

How do I get the status bar for the link preview on the right side of the browser permanently?

I'm specifically referring to [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/what-happened-status-bar#w_what-do-link-previews-look-like this].
Since the link preview pops up on the bottom left-hand side, it is hard to read when I have my bookmarks open. So I'm just trying to figure out what needs to be edited or added in about:config.

I can just suggest you to use [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/235283/ Status-4-Evar] add-on to bring back the status bar. the URL preview will be shown on the status bar instead of blocking your view.

Why have Link previews been moved to the bottom of the page? I have a toolbar on my my site and my users cant see it because the link preview is obscuring it...

Well as I can see from other questions asked people are already aware that when you hover over a link the link preview appears at the bottom of the page instead of the status bar.

Well thats fine for me to do that but what about the users who come to my site and cant see my toolbar at the bottom because the link preview (with a long URL) is obscuring it? I cant tell them to go and install an addon, what bright spark thought of this I find it very disrupting.

The link previews in the navigation bar no longer show up in Beta 11, is there a way to re-enable them or have they been permanently removed?

After downloading Beta 11, the link previews that used to appear in the navigation bar are just gone. Has the feature been permanently removed or is there an option to re-enable it? If the feature has been removed, is there another way to display link previews?

This "hover link URL display" feature location has been changing a lot recently, like with every Beta version release. As '''''TonyE''''' has said, in Beta12 ''(if there is one)'' or the RC, it looks now like it is going to be an "overlay" / "tooltip" type of display in the lower left-corner of the browser, very close to where is used to be on the old Statusbar.
As '''''cor-el'''' mentioned, the Status-4-Evar extension allows you to change the "hover link URL display" to suit your desire - a number of options are in that extension.

This a very generic case and happens when the source VO join attribute and destination VO join attribute are not of same type, i.e. data type and data length. Make sure that is happening in your case, this will solve your problem.

Does Safari have a link preview option?

As an example, I'm reading a blog that has a weblink, but it's been renamed and not the regular address. I'd like to be able to move the mouse pointer over the weblink and see a preview of where the link leads before clicking. Is there a setting within Safari that allows me to do this?
BTW, I don't know how to abbreviate and rename a link like I've referenced above. Can someone give me an idea of how one does this too?

Choose to show the Status Bar in the View menu and then hover the pointer over the link.

When writing HTML by hand, use code such as:
<A HREF="http://www.apple.com/">Apple</A>
If using an editor, check the documentation for it.

Non-synaptics touchpad

Hi,
I own an external USB touchpad.
Xorg doesn't see this touchpad as a synaptics device but as a simple mouse.
So, it seems impossible to configure it as synaptics but only as a regular mouse.
This touchpad provides those features (seem to be hardwired):
- vertical scroll by dragging finger on the right edge
- left-click emulation by tapping on the area
- right-click emulation by tapping on the top right corner
- double click, drag'n'drop
I'm desperately short of the middle click on this touchpad.
I even tried to emulate middle click by tapping with 2 fingers simultaneously (One on the top right corner and the other on the area elsewhere) but, in vain.
I wonder if it's possible to use a combo keyboard/touchpad in order to simulate middle-click (e.g. Win+right-click).
Any idea?

I'm afraid that my touchpad device can't be seen as a synaptics or alps device.

So, as you can see, the system sees it as a regular mouse.
I don't know if there a way to disguise my touchpad as a synaptics or alps device.
