Linked (not uploaded) User Photos???

Hello!
We have a problem where we want our users to have photos attached to their profiles for collaboration etc, but we DO NOT want to upload photos to our current portal server.
Unfortunately our server space is at a premium.
Is there a way to avoid actually uploading the photos, but instead link to them in a seperate location on a seperate server?
I have reviewed the three iViews for uploading photos (i.e. mass upload, administrative upload, and self service) and these aren't going to be sufficient for what we need to do.
Anyone have any ideas on how this might be accomplished??

Ok.
I'm a bit new to KM etc. If these photos are stored in KM under /um, what does that correspond to; i.e. are these photos etc stored in the database, or somewhere on the OS filesystem?

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 10 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
- What version of iPhoto.
- What version of the Operating System.
- Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
- History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
- What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
- Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

Why did I get an emails stating that i uploaded 50 photos and have used my quota for the month when I have not uploaded ANY photos. I just installed PSE 12.

I just installed PSE12 and I think it automatically synced photos to REVEL?
I don't want all my photos on REVEL. How do i control this.
It also states that I reached my 50 max for the month. I didn't upload any photos!
i this a push for paid subscription?

so how is this controlled. I looked at my revel and I have some older pic up there from about 8 months ago.
All my nikon pics are in raw, when will you support this?
If I have to convert them all into jpgs, this is a tedious task and I may as well use Flikr?

Hi Chet-
This is a user to user forum that adobe employees also monitor and reply on.
Our records show that you have indeed hit your limit of 50 uploads. The uploads began around 5/2 from Elements on Windows to Chester's library, which was then deleted on 5/5. Each upload counts, even if you delete and re-upload.
When you first install elements, it asks if you want to make all your albums mobile or just select ones. If you say all, then all will be uploaded to revel (if you have enough uploads available). If you select certain ones, then only those will sync with revel. It sounds like you seleted either some or all and your elements organizer is trying to sync with revel as requested. The idea behind mobile albums is that they stay in sync whether you upload from elements or revel.
If you do not want to have all albums as mobile albums in the Elements Organizer,
you can open up Preferences, switch to the Adobe Revel Preferences section and if the box is checked saying
"Automatically access all my catalog media in Adobe Revel", uncheck that checkbox and click OK.
You do not have to have a premium subscription as long as you only want to upload 50 files or less to revel. A subscription will get you unlimited uploads.
Regarding raw files:
1) If you select a raw file to upload to revel from elements, it will first create a jpg and then upload it to revel 12.1. You will only see a jpg file in revel when you look from your other devices.
2 )If you then edit the raw file from elements, it will replace the old jpg in revel with the edited one.
3)If you edit the jpg file in revel (that was made from the elements raw file and uploaded to revel in 1 above), then it will show there and will also show up in the version set in elements.
4) If you import a raw file directly into revel (say from adoberevel.com rather than elements) you will not see it show up in elements. There is not a feature to sync a raw files or their associated jpg file with elements.

Photostream not uploading all photos?

Had a problem with my iPhone 4s for a while now, but now it's become a bit more major! I find that not all the pictures I take are being uploaded to photo stream. First off it was only a couple, but after a recent trip I've noticed it's missing out around 100. I've done a search and made sure its connected to wifi, charged fully etc and ive left it over night but still nothing. I've reset photo stream on the device and turned it off and on again, yet still nothing.
It seems to have stopped at a certain point. Then when I tried it again when I got home, it picked up uploading them again. So it's missed out uploading photos from say 13:00 to 22:00 and then carried on after that point.

Me too. It is a real pain. Take 12 pictures outside, go back into wifi range and only 11 make it to photostream and the other devices.
I manage my photos on the mac with Google Picassa. I have an iPhone app called PhotoSync to pick up the ones that go missing. A painful workaround, but I does work.

Hi All - I have a PC using Windows Vista. Not all of my photos in My Photo Stream are uploading automatically as they are supposed to. Only some of them will load. It is very sporadic. How can I get all photos to upload to My Photo Stream? Thanks for any help!

It sounds like you are using Photos, not iPhoto, since iCloud Photo Library isn't available in iPhoto.

Photo Stream not uploading unless photos app is open

I am having issues with Photo Stream. According to Apple--
"On an iOS device, new photos you take will be automatically uploaded to your Photo Stream when you leave the Camera app and are connected to Wi-Fi. Note: Photo Stream does not push photos over cellular connections."
That is fine BUT I took 20+ pictures with my iPhone, came home and of course connected to my WiFi. None of the photos were uploaded. Several hours later I realized this and opened "photos" then they started uploading. So I hit the home button to exit photos and the upload stopped. Apparently the way this is now it is NOT HAPPENING AUTOMATICALLY I have to sit there with my photos app open and wait until it is finished.
Not Cool! Any Ideas?

Ive tried downloading the software for the camera and ImageBrowswer says that none of my photos have met the conditions to be uploaded! Please help!

You may need to update the software. The camera would have included a disk with the software to transfer images from the camera (EOS Utility) and software to browse (Image Browser) and edit (Digital Photo Professional). But that CD would be loaded with software that was current back when the camera was new. As computer operating systems are updated, that software also needs to be updated. Numerous 3rd party applications can import images from the camera as well. I typically do not connect my camera to the computer. Instead, I remove the memory card and insert it into a card reader attached to my computer (the transfers are faster that way.)

Photo Stream not uploading enhanced photos

I don't know if any of you have experienced this but all the photos on Photo Stream that are downloaded onto my computer are those that have yet to be auto-enhanced. Those auto-enhanced photos look superb on the iPhone 4S but strangely only the unenhanced versions are synced to iCloud. Any ideas why? To add on, this is not just happening to Photo Stream, but all other apps such as Facebook cannot access the edited versions as well. Is this a bug or is it intentional?

Icloud photo does not upload from iphone

Dear Apple (yes other users I know this is not for Apple. Like many I am fed up by not seeing this issue fix even after OS 10.10.3 and iOS 8.3, so pardon me if I'm a bit testy).
For many many months since the iCloud Photo Beta we (I will take the liberty to speak for others in another thread that was titled 'beta' and we have been chastised and told in no uncertain terms to start a new thread so here)... have had situations where iPhone and iPad will not upload new photos to iCloud Photo. nor does it download 'as advertised'.
Please don't ask us if we have tried turning iCloud Photo off-on-off on our iOS devices, we have.
Left iPhoto in 10.10.3 running... turned everything off everywhere... turned it back on everywhere...
Submitted (me, probably 5 times) to the Feedback APple or whatever it is called.
Submitted error reports from iCloud Photo on the web which cannot start do anything... about 5 times...
So, till now nothing.
But I will help to grow your $180bn reserves by feeding a measly $3.99 a month for 250GB (or is that $2.99? can't remember now)... for NOTHING. At least I'm keeping some allocation warm.

when you click on the name, the Who's Who iview will open.
If photo is uploaded you can see the person's photo

Since iCloud Photo Library will not allow photos from iTunes iphoto to be up loaded ---how do I upload my photos to iCloud Photo Library?

I Have a 5s iPhone updated to 8.1---- have installed iCloud Photo Library---- will only upload 4oo of 21,000 photos--- will not upload any photos from iTunes. Since all 21,000 are in iPhoto's iTunes how do I get them to the icloud photo library. As you know enabling iCloud Photo Library deletes all iTunes photos from the iPhone 5s. Any ideas?

I Figured it out----- you can't upload iTunes iphotos to iCloud Photo Library from an iPhone! Can't be done. Must have a Mac to do it--- and it better not be an old one. Thanks apple!

Photos not uploading.

Installed 10.10.3, launched Photos. Turned on iCloud Photo Library.
It's not uploading. I have photos in iCloud, but I have many more photos on my Mac that are not in iCloud, and they're simply not uploading.
Photos Preferences says it's "Updating..." but nothing is uploading.
Is there any way to figure out what's going on here?

I have similar problems - 42,000 pictures to upload to iCloud (my laptop iPhoto library). Strictly though (at least for me) it's not that it's NOT uploading, it's just horrendously slow. I've had it running for the past 36 hours and its barely made a dent. At a rough estimate I'd say it's uploading around 1 photo a minute - so at this pace I 'might' be finished in a month of solid uploading.
I really hope this gets fixed. I had this problem with the iPhoto beta too and had to abandon it. The iCloud photo library feature is about the only apple update of late that I've been really hoping for - but in it's current release it's just unusable.

Issues with photos/videos not uploading in chronological order..

I have been having issues with Adobe Bridge not uploading my photo/video files (from a CF card) in chronological order. When uploading I select to rename the files by shot date + 01.. etc. For photos the first image then becomes the last image after uploading, and for video files everything is out of order. Not sure why as the only other thing I have selected to add is copyright info. Also having issues with Bridge not converting raw files to DNG (which has led me to use Adobe DNG Converter - not terrible, but hopefully there is a reason?). I think it is a problem with Bridge, as photos uploaded to my website - something completely non-Adobe related are also then thrown out of order.. so it seems to be an issue with files that have come through Bridge at some point. Any advice is much appreciated.

I just noticed that iTunes is now accepting 'some' videos. They are all the same file type (mp4), but iTunes is just randomly choosing which videos it wants add to the Library & not.
I'm still not getting any results when it comes to the Photos.
... and one last thing ... only random songs are displaying the album art on the iPod. Yhey ALL appear in iTunes. If i restore my iPod & re-load everything, some of the songs that DID have artwork appearing on the screen now don't.
This is really messed up! Wonder if the eventual Vista-compatible iTunes will fix this problem ...

TS3989 My photos from iphone did not upload to photostream

I have installed icloud on my pc with windows vista. I want the icloud to transfer photos from my iphone 4s to pc. The icloud installation seems to have worked but the file photostream in my pictures on my pc has not uploaded any photos. The photostream on my iphone is on? I do not know how to upload the photos, they do not seem to load automatically, even though the setting on my iphone says it will push them automatically. any help would be appreciated.

Photostream only uploads the photos taken (or imported to the device) AFTER you enable Photostream. Photos from prior to Photostream being turned on will not upload. You could just take screenshots of the older photos to create 'new' images, or transfer your photos to your computer manually.
