LinkedButton on the UDF Panel

Hi all!
I have an issue with objects linking.
on the Service Call UDF Panel (form type -60110) i have EditText with Return Document number (docentry)
i want to create drill down orange arrow quite near this field.
1. After adding orange arrow - its invisible. after clicking on the place where should be located this orange arrow - it appears.
i think it's because my item is under system label ('Static' object).
2. Item is successfully linked to EditText where stored Return entry (I can see it on the tooltip text of the LinkedButton), but after clicking - nothing happens.
By the way, if i do it not on the UDF Panel (on form with type 60110 - Service Call) - it works perfect.
I've added LinkedButton, EditText, UserDataSource, bound new edittext to new datasource, set LinkTo property of LinkedButton to EditText and set LinkedObject, LinkedObjectType properties. this works correct.
if i add LinkedButton on the UDF Panel, set LinkTo property to System EditText (my UDF where stored Return entry) and set LinkedObject, LinkedObjectType properties - it does not work.
Please advice me, where might be problem?

I have created a contextual panel inside a transparent container. And created a method in the same view supply_values of type supply function to supply the values to the panel.Inside the method I have coded like:

Also in the context of the view I have created a node and supplied the method 'supply_values' in the supply function.Under the node I have 2 attributes named text and enabled. Text is of string type and enabled is of boolean type. In the properties of the contextual panel I have bound the visible property with the enabled attribute.
Now when I am running this application , links are not getting displayed in the contextual panel. Though when I debug TAB contains the values. Please suggest if I have missed out something or I need to look into the properties of the contextual panel. Any pointers will be really helpful.

I have already bound the enable property of the panel with a context attribute of type wdy_boolean but it is still not working.

Is there a way to make the Markers panel work better with the Source panel?

My workflow is to first cut a multi-cam project (but it could be any long clip), then watch it all over again to make notes about what to keep and what to kick. So after I'm done cutting the initial rough cut of the entire hour or two of footage, I'll set focus to the Markers panel and begin watching the entire clip from the beginning to make notes as markers within the clip.
I'll play the clip back in the Source monitor and when something interesting happens, I'll type "M" on the keyboard. This places a marker in the clip (or multi-cam clip in my case). Without stopping the clip, I'll pick up my mouse and tap the Markers tab in the notes section for the last marker laid down. I'll type a note (something like "S" for interesting "Shot" or "HUGS" or "DANCING" to indicate the main action occuring at this point in the clip, or "Mike: Are we there, yet?" for a key dialog point). Next, I'll move my mouse back to the Source panel (the video has not stopped this entire time) and give any gray area of the Source panel a tap just to activate it. I'll watch for the next point of interest and repeat the process. M to mark. Move to the Markers panel. Tap the last marker. Type some notes. Move back to the Source panel and tap to give the panel focus. This works fairly well, but could be tuned, with just a few options, to make it more streamlined for this type of use.
What I'd like to be able to do is never leave the keyboard AND use minimal keyboard shortcuts. A perfect workflow might be:
1. Start playing the clip in the Source panel.
2. Type "M" to drop a marker. Focus would AUTOMATICALLY move to the notes section of that marker within the Markers panel, while the video continues to play on in the Source panel.
3. I type my notes into the Markers panel and hit Enter, or CTRL+Enter, which returns focus to the Source panel.
This would allow me to quickly build a list of markers and notes about a clip or sequence without ever stopping and without once touching my mouse (unless I get behind and need to backup). Currently, the only time I really get behind is when clicking on a window and not realizing that focus was not given to that window, so that when I hit "M" again, for example, I don't actually create a new marker, but rather add the letter "M" to my most recent Marker note.
All of this seems a very common task for anyone who works in reality TV, or even event videography. Who's with me? Can this be done already? If not, I'll submit a feature request. How would you make this feature better?

Display cross-references' linked documents filename in the xref panel

Our company creates technical manuals consisting of five chapters, all named the same, except with a different prefix. For example the "ABC Widget" manual has an introduction chapter named "ABC 1 - Introduction", a safety chapter named "ABC 2 - Safety", etc. Many times I re-use documents for creating subsequent manuals using the "Save As" command. So the "ABC 1 - Introduction" chapter would be saved as "EFG 1 - Introduction" for the "EFG Widget" book. For all the internal xrefs it saves a whole lot of time since all of the xrefs are preserved. But for cross-document references it creates a problem. For example, if the "ABC 1 - Introduction" chapter has a xref to "ABC 2 - Safety", when I save the Introduction chapter as "EFG 1 - Introduction" it will still retain the xref to "ABC 2 - Safety".
Right now, the only way to see if there are xrefs pointing to latent docs, is to check each one manually. If the xref panel displayed a column indicating the filename of the linked documents, I would be able to tell at a glance if that xref was pointing to the wrong document.

I fear, I expressed myself not very clear. I try again.
We have DITA structured documents. However, lastest status often was saved in the FM document. The xml documents often are not representing the final status.
When I open the FM8 document in FM9 everything looks pretty good.
But: When I want to save the document as xml with FM9, I'm getting errors regarding the cross references.
The cross references which were created in FM8 - doesn't matter, if a valid xml document or a FM document - always look the same.
(BTW: I don't think that in structured documents cross references always refer to elemts with a unique ID.)
example from xml which was created with FM8:
<xref href = "#id08B4A0R30E9" type = "fm:Chapter">"..."</xref>
the only difference in the FM document is that the element is called fm-xref there, as it's not an external url.
in FM9 those cross references are totally different.
example from xml which was created in FM9:

When saving the FM documents with the cross references from the first example as xml in FM9 (we don't have FM8 anymore), I get an error that the attribute type is not defined.
When having a xml document that was last changed with FM8 and opening/ saving this with FM9, there is no error.
At the moment I do not know how to solve this issue.
And also I'm not sure weather the same problem might accour again with change from FM9 to FM10 or else.
It is a great effort to make new cross references just because we upgraded from FM8 to FM9. (And of course always at most inconvienent time.)
As we are thinking of upgrading to FM10, it would be good to know before, if there are any similar issues to expect.
Or if there is an fix for FM9 or FM10 to avoid this at all.

The problem is in the delimiters in your text file. By default, Read From Spreadsheet File.vi expects a tab delimited file. You can specify a delimiter (like a space), but Read From Spreadsheet File.vi has a problem with repeated delimiters: if you specify a single space as a delimiter and Read From Spreadsheet File.vi finds two spaces back-to-back, it stops reading that line. Your file (as I got it from your earlier post) is delimited by 4 spaces.
Here are some of your choices to fix your problem.
1. Change the source file to a tab delimited file. Your VI will then run as is.
2. Change the source file to be delimited by a single space (rather than 4), then wire a string constant containing one space to the delimiter input of Read From Spreadsheet File.vi.
3. Wire a string constant containing 4 spaces to the delimiter input of Read From Spreadsheet File.vi. Then your text file will run as is.
Depending on where your text file comes from (see more comments below), I'd vote for choice 1: a tab delimited text file. It's the most common text output of spreadsheet programs.
Comments for choices 1 and 2: Where does the text file come from? Is it automatically generated or manually generated? Will it be generated multiple times or just once? If it's manually generated or generated just once, you can use any text editor to change 4 spaces to a tab or to a single space. Note: if you want to change it to a tab delimited file, you can't enter a tab directly into a box in the search & replace dialog of many programs like notepad, but you can do a cut and paste. Before you start your search and replace (just in the text window of the editor), press tab. A tab character will be entered. Press Shift-LeftArrow (not Backspace) to highlight the tab character. Press Ctrl-X to cut the tab character. Start your search and replace (Ctrl-H in notepad in Windows 2000). Click into the Find What box. Enter four spaces. Click into the Replace With box. Press Ctrl-V to paste the tab character. And another thing: older versions of notepad don't have search and replace. Use any editor or word processor that does.

Displaying the title of the open panel when attached to a window...?

This is probably a really obvious question... but when displaying the open panel as a panel/sheet attached to another window - is there a way to display the panel's title, or some other way to prompt the user?
For example, I have a preferences window that the user can click a variety of controls, several of which display the open panel... I'd like some way to remind the user which path to select (eg. "Select the path for BLAH").
One way around it is to temporarily set the title of the window the open panel is attaching to, but I have several windows, and the panel may attach to any one of them... I'd rather not test for each possibility (because, for example, the nib for that window might not be loaded yet, etc.).
Any ideas?

The answer is obvious... after all, I need to know which window to attach the panel to.

Hdmi output not found under playback in the control panel

I am trying to get sound to go through my tv with my HDMI cable. I looked in the control panel under sound - playback. I do not see the option of the hdmi output. I have right clicked on the speaker and clicked disabled and it still does not come up.
I have idt high definition audio codec driver on my computer. Is it compatible?
I have also tried to connect an rca cable to the headphone jack and hook it to the tv like that and sound still didn't work?
Do you have any suggestions?

Since you have updated all of the original drivers on your system, and your notebook still does not display an HDMI audio option, I recommend returning your system back to a previous restore point when this option was available. This can be done by following the steps in this document on Using Microsoft System Restore (Windows 8).
Should the problem continue, I suggest performing a backup and recovery of your operating system. This can be done by following the steps in this resource on Backing Up Your Files (Windows 8), as well as Performing an HP system recovery (Windows 8). This should return your system back to factory defaults.

1. iTunes won't offer cloud downloads for songs that it "thinks" are in your library, even if it "knows" the files are missing. If you've exhaustively searched for the missing files and there is no prospect of repair by restoring to them to their original locations, or connecting to new ones, then delete that tracks that display both the missing exclamation mark and are of media kind Purchased/Protected AAC audio file. Don't hide from iTunes in the cloud when asked, close iTunes, then reopen. You can download from the cloud links or iTunes Store > Quicklinks > Purchased > Music > Not on this computer > All songs > Download all.
2. Why? Not sure, perhaps 3rd party tools or accidental key presses combined with previously hidden warning messages when trying to organize the library. There is a hint that using the feature to downsample media as it is synced to a device may also be involved, though I've not replicated it. Whatever the reason a backup would protect your media.

CS4 - In InDesign can I change the Control Panel????

I have recently upgraded to InDesign CS4 and I'm finding that my Control Panel does not match the one I used in CS3. Is there a way of adding tools to the Control Panel? Or changing the Control Panel?
For example when I have text selected the Character Formating Controls offer: font, font size, leading, some options like superscript & subscript, alignment, indents, space before & after, drop cap, bullet list & number list. When I switch over to the Paragraph Formating Controls I get the exact same items just in reverse order. How do I add kerning, horizontal scale, the hyphenation box, and more. I'm noticing similar issues when I have an object selected, where is my "fit frame to" options?
It seems with CS3 I had so much more available, is there any way to get CS4 to be set up in the same way?

More options appear on the Control panel if you choose the Advanced workspace instead of Essentials. Choose Window > Workspace > Advanced.

If you're trying to add photos to photo stream on your PC, you drag them to your photo stream uploads folder (normally My Pictures\Photo Stream\Uploads).

Is there a way to use the built-in Datalogging and programmatically log the front panel while the vi is running?

I would like to use the built-in Data Logging feature. There is the "Log at Completion" option, but is there a way to programmatically make a new log record while running? I looked around in VI server and couldn't find any methods that would do that. Currently, I am grabbing all of the front panel control references using VI Server and if there are any changes, the changed values are written to a log file along with a date/time stamp. I'm mostly dealing with buttons, which simply change from 0 to 1 or 1 to 0, so it's not too hard to visualize what was pressed. It works okay for reconstructing what happened, but it would be much nicer to use the built-in fe
ature because you can "replay" directly onto the front panel and actually see what the changes were. However, without being able to programmatically make a new log, it won't work for me.

There are several options here.
I would suggest using your own code for datalogging. The datalogging you are referring to is primarily for debug, and one shot datalogs of front panel indicators (and controls?), not including graphs, etc.
If you go to the file functions, you will see a menu for datalogging. These functions will allow you to save your data, as you need it, simply, and in a compact format.
I recommend opening the datalog file, doing all your file operations, and closing the file before the program is complete. There are several examples of this in the examples database.

Hi I have an ipod shuffle which worked well on my old pc but since i have tried to link it with my new laptop I cant get it to sinc. I have athorised the device to my laptop so i thought it maybe worth resetting it but all the info I have read tells me that to reset my ipod i need to open i tunes and on the left hand side in the 'source panel' i will find my ipod listed but when i open itunes i do not have a source panel so i cant reset it. i have spent days trying to get this problem sorted and am about to throw the thing away. I have tried to manually sinc the thing, i have installed and reinstalled the latest version of itunes, i have restarted my laptop but i dont know what to do next. any help would be very much appreciated. Updating UDFs in the UDF form of a sales order

I got the UDF form of a corresponding main sales order form.
I am trying to set a value for one of the UDFs there, but I get a 'General Failure' exception (Simply trying to set the edittext's UDFItem.Value or UDFItem.String properties)
I know I have the right form and item, since I can change the item's BackColor.
The DBDataSource.GetValue works, so I can read the existing values.
The DBDataSource.SetValue doesn't work, but I'm used to it
Any ideas?
