Linking a PDF to a SQL Server

Is there a way to filling, ie customer information fields, using a SQL server using a PDF? I am trying to create a document that allows the company I work for to create a Invoice using the information they already have on their server.

You can do it with XFA forms in LiveCycle Designer, but not with PDF forms in Acrobat.

  • Urgent:db link from oracle 10g to sql server 2000

    Hi
I have a db link 10g from oracle to sql server 2000. This was created a couple of years ago. This is working.
I have now created another db link from same oracle server to the same sql server but it is not working.
But I am getting ORA-28500 and IM002 error
    .Please advise.
I am unable to understand what is wrong because I have followed the hs odbc set up on this db link in the same way as I had done 2 yrs ago.
    Thanks
    Shailaja

    Just sorted the problem.
Basically I am using HSODBC to communicate from Oracle (on windows 2003 64 bit)  to SQL Server.
To do this, I need to create a ODBC connection from Oracle to SQL Server.
HSODBC is a 32 bit application and hence we have to use the ODBC 32 bit driver when we create the ODBC connection.
When I created the  ODBC connection from Oracle to SQL Server, I was using the ODBC 64 bit driver and hence the system was unable to find the data source name.
I have now created ODBC connection from Oracle to SQL Server using the ODBC 32 bit driver and everything works fine now.
No offence to anyone but as you all work using Oracle software , I was hoping a better response than some of the above responses. You can just say that you didnt understand the question or you dont know the reason why that happened.
I just listed how the problem was sorted so that any one in future having the same problem can benefit.

  • Linking Siebel Sample DB and SQL Server

    Hi Gurus,
I have installed siebel in my laptop for learning purposes and i want to query the Sample DB in the process. Can anyone tell me how to link the sample DB and SQL Server 2008, so that i can query the sample db in the similar the way i query a normal siebel database server.
I already tried to create a linked server in SQL Server 2008 using Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC drivers, but its throwing errors. Is it possible to create a linked server for sample DB.
Please let me know if there is any other way to query the sample DB

In the BIN directory you can find dbisqlc.exe.
Fill in the login credentials (SADMIN/SADMIN), don't set the ODBC, but go to the next tab and browse to the sample db.
It could be that you don't see it until you set the file filter to all files.

  • How to print pdf file in SQL Server Reporting services report using command prompt?

Is there a way to automatically print a SQL Server Reporting services report on command prompt? For eg: We can save a pdf file using rs.exe utility. I want to print a pdf using rs.exe utility. Is it possible? I don't want to install any 3rd party software.

Thanks Simon for replying to my question.
In oracle form, there is oracle command to print the report from command prompt with the help of rwrun.exe
    e.g: rwrun.exe   REPORT="D:\Test\REP_25\MLA.REP" DESNAME="testprinter" DESTYPE="PRINTER" P_FORMNAME="MLA.FMX" P_SPRACHE="E" P_SPRACHE_NR2="1" P_WHERE_BEDINGUNG="order by land_nr" USERID="test/test.world" PSV_NAME="PSV_DEMO" PSV_JOB_ID="PS$9583" RECURSIVE_LOAD="NO"
    BATCH="YES" NONBLOCKSQL="NO" ARRAYSIZE="1" PARAMFORM="NO" ERRFILE="c:\temp\psv16.tmp"<
and to save the report we just need to change DESNAME="c:\temp\OC_100001349.pdf" DESTYPE="FILE" in above command instead of DESNAME="testprinter" DESTYPE="PRINTER".
DESNAME and DESTYPE are the input parameters of the respective report.
In SSRS, we can run the file from the command prompt and save it.
    rs -i "C:\Users\pujarswa\Documents\reports\new\LoadReport.rss" -s ww2004760:80/ReportServer_MSSQL -v fileName="C:\Users\pujarswa\Desktop\TipsReportLoad.pdf"
    -v reportPath="/TipsReport/LoadListTabular" -t -v format="PDF" -v LandNr=4 -u ap\swati -p test@# -e Exec2005
But we cannot use same command for printing as you said we need to create another script for printing files.
I have gone through the links but I dont want to use Adobe Acrobat Reader exe for printing because client it may not have Adobe Acrobat Reader on their machine.
Also I want to pass a input parameter as type="Printer" to my report which will print directly for me and same I can acheive in command prompt passing type="Printer" fileName="C:\Users\pujarswa\Desktop\TipsReportLoad.pdf"

    hi all
    I need your help
i have this asp.net site which works with sql server
it searches a specific word in the database with full text search
in my database i have a column of type image that holds a PDF file
i want my SP to search for given word in my file
so i installed the Adobe Ifilter
configured it and every thing worked fine
but after i moved to production Server and installed every thing the same way ...it did not create the index for the pdf files
i can search for doc and docx and even for xml but not pdf
i know i installed it correctly since it is working great in the testing environment
i used this link for the configuration
    http://www.adobe.com/special/acrobat/configuring_pdf_ifilter_for_ms_sql_server_2005.pdf
the only difference i see between my Testing environment and my Production environment  is that
    my testing has
windows sever 2003 sp2 with Sql server 2005 64 bit std sp2   -- works fine
    my production  has
windows sever 2003 R2sp2 with Sql server 2005 64 bit ent sp3  --does not work, does not index my pdf files
can you tell me if there are problems with some environments ?
are there any known problems with this Ifilter ?
    what should i do ..

  • LiveCycle PDF form and SQL Server connection

I'd really like to move from a server-scripted event registration form to a LiveCycle online PDF form, submitted by email and redirecting the user to a Webpage.
The only obstacle I can see is a dropdown list of users, where a user selects his/her name and then proceeds to choose an event, date, and time. On my
Webpage form now (scripted in ColdFusion), I use a CFSELECT, which works perfectly. But in looking at LiveCycle, I see that it supports an OLEDB but probably
not a connection to SQL Server or Oracle. Am I correct? Or is there some workaround that will populate my dropdown list?

    Hello!
Download jTDS - SQL Server and Sybase JDBC driver from http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=33291
In Oracle SQL Developer open Tools -> Preferences
Database -> Third Party JDBC Drivers
    Add Entry
Browse the unzipped driver and add the jtds-1.2.jar file

  • How to store and retrieve a PDF form to SQL Server from LiveCycle?

My intention is to save a complete PDF form into a database and then later on retrieve this form from DB.
To do this, SQL Server has got two datatypes, image or Varbinary(max). I am able to store a PDF using "Execute SQL Statement"(I have written an Insert statement). Some value is being written into DB as well.
But when I try to retrieve this record using "Query Single Row"(I store the result to a doc variable), the retrieved PDF is of an unknown type and cannot be opened by Adobe Reader.
I am not sure if my approach is correct. Is it possible to store/retrieve a PDF form to/from a DB through LiveCycle?
If yes, please give me some guidance.

    hi
    am not sure
but u can use the same concept as storing image in db and retrieve..
    create a blob column
parse that pdf and store into that column.
again u retrieve the content and via file io make the same name with pdf extension..

  • Which version of crystal reports can link to Windev 14 and SQL server 2008 applications

I am developing an application with windev 14 and sql server 2008, i would like to know which version of crystal report can i use?

    Hi GS,
    Move to .NET SDK forum.
I don't know how CR for Visual Studio will integrate into WinDev but to get the installer for VS 2010/2012/2013 go to this page:
SAP Crystal Reports, developer version for Microsoft Visual Studio: Updates & Runtime Downloads
It's the runtime for CR 2011 or 2013 now.
As for SQL 2008 you need to install the Client tools and when creating reports use the SQLNCLI10.dll as the client DB driver for ODBC or OLE DB.

  • Data type error when linking Salesforce field to MS SQL Server field?

Hello.  I'm using CR XI R2 SP4 with the Salesforce 3.0 driver.  I have MS SQL 2000 SP4.  I want to create a standard report that links the Salesforce Contacts table with a table in my local SQL 2000 database - the table also contains a column with the contact ID values.  When I try to link using the Contact ID field, Crystal gives me an error "Data types are not compatible."
The ID column data type in my SQL database is CHAR(18).  Is there a type I should use to make it work with Salesforce?
    Thanks
    David

Thanks for your reply.  In Salesforce, ID is a special data type - I don't know what it would match in SQL.  I'll have to open a case with them to see if they can tell me.

    Hello,
Did you check the fulltext log files for more details about the errors. If the filter isn’t working, there should be errors in the error log file.

  • How to link Excel 2010 .XLSX file to SQL server 2008R2 - a method that actually works?

I have been trying unsuccessfully to link my excel file to SQL server like I used to with SQL 2005.
In SQL 2008R2 I have installed the 64-bit data access components from Office 2010 to get the  provider 'Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0' avilable.
    When I try this command:
    SELECT
    FROM
    OPENDATASOURCE(
    'Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0',
    'Data Source="E:\ADUpdates\Employee List1.xlsx"; Extended properties=Excel 12.0')...[Sheet1$]
    I get this error:
    Msg 7399, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
The OLE DB provider "Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0" for linked server "(null)" reported an error. Access denied.
    Msg 7301, Level 16, State 2, Line 1
Cannot obtain the required interface ("IID_IDBCreateCommand") from OLE DB provider "Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0" for linked server "(null)".
The Access Denied error seems to be form the worksheet and not the file itself. Evidence is that if I enter a bogus sheet name it tells me the sheet doesn't exist and after this error the file is locked open and can't be saved again from Excel until the
query windows is closed. The sheet is not protected in Excel so I don't know how access to it can be denied.
Does anyone actually have this working in SQL 2008R2?

Some minor progress on this issue by running SQL Server service under a domain account with Administrator priv on the SQL server.
This query now works in a query window:
    SELECT * FROM OPENDATASOURCE( 'Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0', 'Data Source="E:\ADUpdates\Employee List.xlsx"; Extended properties=Excel 12.0')...[EmployeeData];
However, creating a Linked server object for the same spreadsheet still does not work:
    EXEC master.dbo.sp_addlinkedserver @server = N'TEST', @srvproduct=N'Excel 12.0', @provider=N'Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0', @datasrc=N'E:\ADUpdates\Employee List.xlsx'
The test connection to the linked server failed.
Cannot initialize the data source object of OLE DB provider "Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0" for linked server "TEST".
OLE DB provider "Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0" for linked server "TEST" returned message "Unrecognized database format 'E:\ADUpdates\Employee List.xlsx'.". (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 7303)

  • Wht abobe package do i need to install to enable SQL Server to read .pdf files?

Need to open pdf files with sql server.

If you are wanting to extract data from PDF forms, you would not do it from the PDF but from a data file like FDF. Adobe has the FDF Toolkit to help on working with FDF files and sending the information to a database.
