Linking Business Objects Reports

Iu2019m trying to create a hyperlink object within a report which will open another report and pass some parameters.  See syntax below
="<A HREF="+ Char(34) +"http://bitss:8085/wijsp/scripts/openDocument.jsp?&iDocID=247899&sDocName=month1 &sType=wid&sRepoType=Corporate&lsSStart="& FormatNumber(<Start of Reporting Month> ,"0") +"&lsSEnd="& FormatNumber(<End of Reporting Month> ,"0") &Char(34) & ">" & <Customer Month> & "</a>"
the above syntax opens the report but it does not pass the values or refresh the report.
Can anyone help please.
Thank you,

I would start by troubleshooting the link itself, when that works as expected, go deeper into creating the link dynamically in webi.
So start by hardcoding the parameter values, and calling the URL straight through the browser:
http://bitss:8085/wijsp/scripts/openDocument.jsp?...lsSStart=01012008&lsSEnd=31122008
If this works, generate the formula in webi to create exactly this linke. Make sure that you check the syntax that webi is generating through your formula, if it isn't correct (if the parameters are not passed in the correct format), they will not be accepted by the receiving report.
Cheers,
Fritz
PS: what version of BO are you using?

  • Business Objects Reports and Web Services for Dashboards

    Hello!
I am writing a Business Object report against my Universe.  I save the report to the CMS and then right click on the report block and click "Publish as a Web Service...".  This opens up that diaglog and I am able to publish the web service.  I then can import the web service into Dashboards 4.1 (Xcelsius) and am working working to figure it out further at this point.
My question is this:  When I go back to the report in Business Objects, and modify the report, I would like to republish the web service.  I click on Design and rework the report.  Run the report.  Save the report.  I right click on the report block and I don't see the "Publish as a Web Service..." choice.
    What am I doing wrong?
    Business Objects 4.1...
    Thank you.

    Hi Susan,
Go to the web service publisher, expand the web service, select the block and select edit.
Select the content and prompt and select Update.

  • Open  Business Objects report with J2SE

Hi, How can I do to open a Business Objects report with J2SE aplicattion?
    Thanks,

Depending on the version of Crystal Reports / Business Objects you have, there are Java libraries you can use to connect to the Business Objects Application server. I spent a lot of time on BO's website figuring it out. In the end i only needed a few libraries to connect, and ask the server to print a report. I remember that there was a way to have the server send a pdf as a binary stream, that you could then save as a pdf file and read. You can do a lot more with the SDK, to the extent of creating your own report creation tool. If you would like some specifics, i might be able to find the some of the documentation i used. It all came from the BO website.
Wish i could be more help

  • Creating Business Object Reports and Dashboards utilizing Informatica

I need to create Business Object Reports and Dashboards utilizing Informatica database. Please let me know what connections I need to create to integrate the data into Web Intelligence, Universe, Xcelsius, and Crystal Reports.
    Thank you

I've just done some quick checking and I don't see a native connection type for Infomatica in Designer or Crystal.  (Designer is a tool for building universes - WebI and Xcelsius both read data through a universe, Crystal can read data through a direct connection to the database or through a universe.) This means you'll probably have to set up a "generic" ODBC connection in order to connect to it.

  • Automating Testing of Business Objects Reports...

I am a new user to empirix e-Tester and I need some assistance understanding how the program captures events during recording... I am trying to build a very simple test to use against the Business Objects Reporting package.
Basically, I have the following steps in this test case:
    1. Login to the system. Got this working and configured.
    2. Select a report from the listing of documents. This works.
    3. Enter Report Criteria and submit report. This Works.
    4. Filter report using drop down boxes that contain valid data filters. This doesn't work.
In step 4, I basically have a screen with 2 frames. The top frame contains drop down lists for the filters. The main frame contains the report data. When I am recording the script it works, but on playback it freezes and times out. If I look through the script, it shows the index of the item I selected in the associated list box. I looked in the address properties and it shows the events (onclick and onchange) and the onchange has the correct index... but it fails to update the data frame with the filtered report... it just times out.
Does anyone understand what I am doing much less doing wrong? I can attach some screen prints if neccessary to clarify what's going on.
    TIA,
    Wayne

I have run into similar issues like this in my testing. The issue is usually caused by dynamic option values. When you record a script, eTester captures the value associated with the drop down. If on playback it cannot match its recorded value to a choice in the list (remember a drop down is a restricted list) it will come back with a ?failed to set option value?? There are a couple of ways you can fix this. The first option is to expand the page, address and parameters node that that the script fails on. Find the parameters with value, number (Myval, 1) for example. Right-click the parameter and select properties. Click the ?base on index? button. The tool will now select the option by index instead of value. The other possibility is to select options-->Current Script then select General. Check the first option ?Record all list selection by index.? This will do what is described above globally when scripts are recorded. I hope this is inline with your problem and helps.

  • Exsisting Crystal Reports conversion to Business Objects reports

    hi,
can existing crystal reports can be converted to Business Objects reports ( Adhoc, webi, deski types ).
If yes, what versions of CR can be converted to BOBJ reports and what versions could not be.
Where woud I go to get the information and procedure to get this done.
Your help is deeply appreicated. Thanks.

    Hi Venkat,
Unfortunately there is no direct method or tool which can convert the existing Crystal reports to WEBI or DESKI. The best way to go about converting the reports would be to re-create the reports in the required reporting tool.
All these three reporting softwares are different in working and are designed to suit different reporting needs. So based on the requirements, you can select the tool which best suits your requirement.
I hope this helps in answering your question.

    Abhishek Jain.

  • How to LInk Business Object with Portal

    HI,
My exact requirement is that i want to trigger a event of BUS10001006 business object through Portal. In Portal i have an iview with a parameter and a Delete button. I enter the Material number and then press the delete button. On Trigger of delete button a BO event shoud trigger which in turn will trigger the Workflow.
The Workflow part is done but we are not sure how to link the BO/event of BO with Portal so that it triggers workflow.
    Regards
    Naveen Gupta

BOBJ integration into portal is in NO WAY similar to ESS business package deployment. For that matter, it is not a business package at all.
BOBJ itself is a web based application that interfaces with BW to retrieve different types of reports. So for the integration with SAP Portal you would not need to deploy any content (Except a few par files) on the portal.
Basically, for BOBJ integration you would have two options:
    1. Integration using the iview template or URL iviews
    2. KM Based integration
This topic has been discussed many a times and there is lot of information out there on SDN.
You can start with the following link:

  • Publishing Business Objects Reports in Portal

    Hi All,
    1. In BO we have different reports like, web intelligence, crystal, deski reports. By default sap provided two iviews
            A) Business Objects Enterprise Integration Kit - IView Template
            B) Crystal Enterprise Report
By using Business Objects Enterprise Integration Kit - IView Template I am able to call all the reports (by using report id).but for this i need to create iviews manually.what is the best practise to publish BO reports in portal.
    Regards
    Sasikanth

    Hi Kundan,
If BOE is integrated with portal then the reports will be available in KM.You can use the KM Navigational iView or URL iview to the Specific location in KM,to show in portal.Kindly refer the link for further details.[BO Reports in portal|http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/BOBJ/IntegrationofBOEXI3.1intotheSAPEnterprisePortal+7.x]

  • API Clearcase for Business Objects Reports including Webi

Is there anyone out there who has developed a linked version of the following application?
Winners of the Business Objects Community Content Contest
I'm excited to announce the winners of the content contest that we ran earlier in the summer. The contest ran for seven weeks and had five categories, each of which offered a potential grand prize of $1,000 USD, a second prize of $300 USD, and a third prize of $200 USD.
Here is the list of winners, who have already been officially notified, along with a description of their submissions:
    SDK APPLICATION
Grand prize - Sunil Abraham - "Bridge between Rational ClearCase version control and Business Object Enterprise"
This tool enables updating the location of report files on the BOE server from the ClearCase repository without using the web interface. The tool is a stand alone application developed in VB.NET using BusinessObjects Enterprise SDK and the ClearCase Automation Library (COM Interface). The user selects the ClearCase repository and the change set that needs to be updated on the BOE server. The tool queries BOE and returns the locations of the files to be updated. The user can then update the server location with the click of a button.

You cannot use query builder to update the object. You need to create a jsp page or java class and add the code to perform the action. The code should:
    1. logon to enterprise
    2. query for  the objects to get InfoObjects.
    3. loop through each object and update title using setTitle()
    4. commit
    5. logoff
Check various [sample|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc/samples?rid=/webcontent/uuid/b0daacb7-ad82-2b10-b2b6-f3e9fa3e716a] and [Developer Guide|http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/boexir31/en/boesdk_java_dg_12_en.zip] on how to set up the environment etc,

  • How do I change the "Owner" of my Business Objects Reports

    Here is my problem.
When we upgrade Business Objects we 'convert' a large number of reports to the BO XI rel2 version of the reports.  During this convertion process all the reports were switched to be 'owned' by usercode 'Administrator'.  Our users are now wanting to move/change/delete these reports and they can't because they are not the owner.
So we need to switch this owner.  Problem is the only way we can find to do this is to copy the report to a new name and delete the old one.  This is very time consuming.  Also many of our users are not priviledged to delete reports that they don't own.  Therefore our administrators are the only ones that can do the delete step.
It seems like I should be able to logon to the system as 'Administrator' and change the owner of the reports (similiar to doing a chown command in Unix) to whoever I want.  There however doesn't appear to be a way to do that in Infoview or the Central Management Consule.
Is there a simple easy way to do this??  I have thousands of report to change.
    Thanks Bart

It's possible via the Enterprise SDK, if you have a Java or .NET programmer.
    Sincerely,
    Ted Ueda
