Linux server logs Cluster Ready Services completed waiting on dependencies
hi all
we run oracle 10g RAC on two nodes of SLES 10 SP2 Itanium.
on node 1 of the db node I see this message.
Mar 13 15:35:03 odbs1 logger: Cluster Ready Services completed waiting on dependencies.
This message has appeared for the second time in 3 days. the server is behaving normally. Could someone please let me know what exactly is the cause.
i tried to google a bit but i am not an expert in RAC
Could someone please let me know if this is a major issue or is it a generic message for something
Hi,
It means that the CRS not came up on startup and you put it online manualy.
Check your ocssd.log for messages like it
[ CSSD]2007-09-13 15:43:00.038 [1147169120] >TRACE: clsc_send_msg: (0x7271b0) NS err(12571, 12560), transport (530, 113, 0)
If they exists, the explanation is: The network on OS startup is slower than CRS and the CRS cannot communicate with others nodes with interconnect. To avoid split brain problem, it kills himself causing automatic start of CRS fails.
This problem could be solved add a sleep on /etc/rc.d/rc3.d/SXXXinit.crs before line $ID/init.cssd autostart. Try sleep 15, sleep 20 and test restart of node.
You can see it on My Oracle Suporte note ID 459169.1
I hope it helps!!

Hi all,
I am trying for RAC 10gR1 (10.1.0.2) using two machines with Windows 2000 Server. For this I need to install Oracle Cluster Ready Services Release 1 (10.1.0.2).
Machine details are as follows:-
Node 1:
Computer Name: RAC1
Windows 2000 IP Configuration
Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection 2: (Used for Public Interface)
Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.65

Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection: (Used for Private Interface between the two nodes)
Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 10.10.10.11
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0

I have completed all the pre-installation steps, i.e. configuring the disk for storage, and both the machine are communicating each other through there Private and Public interfaces. Now the problem appears when I am installing Oracle Cluster Ready Services, at the end of Installation following message appears and the auto configuration steps fails.

Hi
I am using Ora10gR1 and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9. I am getting the following message in /var/log/messages
Aug 27 09:48:41 (none) logger: Oracle Cluster Ready Services disabled by corrupt install
Aug 27 09:48:41 (none) logger: Could not access /etc/oracle/scls_scr/ohare/root/crsstart.
I did not install CRS. Can you help?
ThxHi,
These don't have any affect on your database. If you want to disable these messages then comment following line in the inittab file
#h1:35:respawn:/etc/init.d/init.cssd run >/dev/null 2>&1 </dev/null

thanks.Hi,
after the crsctl start crs you have to wait a while till the clusterstack is up. You just issued crsctl check crs a little to early.
To see the startup stack do a crsctl stat res -t -init.
If not everything in crsctl stat res -t -init goes to online after a while, then you have a problem, which has to be analyzed.
However if crsctl stat res -t -init show everything is started use crsctl stat res -t to see the other processes coming online.
Can you post the crsctl stat res -t -init (if not everything is online) or a crsctl stat res -t.
Only thing which I find strange is that oifcfg does not list a PUBLIC interface...

Oracle does only make a differentiation, if it has to be clear, that you got a clusterware home and a database home.
Normally if a patch is referring to $ORACLE_HOME (and the patch can be used for clusterware & database), it just means the installation directory of the oracle software installed.

Cluster Ready Services installation stall
At the final step, when asked to execute:
/u02/oradata/orcl/root.sh
as the root user, I get the following output:
Adding daemons to inittab
Preparing Oracle cluster Ready Services (CRS):
At this point, the script hangs indefinitely. I ran the script with "sh -x ./root.sh" and found that the script actuall is STALLING at this step:
+ /etc/init.d/init.crs start
Preparing Oralce Cluster Ready Services (CRS):
+ /sbin/init q
+ /etc/init.d/init.cssd startcheck
I've attempted an install on 2 seperate computers running both WhiteBox Linux 3 as well as Centos OS 3.4 with no luck.
Any ideas would be GREATLY appreciated.I don't know, why this happens, I have only a kind of workaround.
If you don't use Real Application Cluster and/or ASM (Automatic Storage Management) , you don't need CRS. So you could modify root.sh to exclude all CRS configuration and start statements. -

Our server has gone down and the Coldfusion 8 service will not start. There is no information in any of the logs for anything today since its gone down. Ive checked the root logs directory as well as the runtime logs directory.
The server.log is the only file being updated and it shows "Starting logging..." and then "Starting license..." and hangs. The service does not start and the log gets nothing more after this point. Memory continues to go up slowly, we've increased the start timeout tremendously with no effect. There is little to no CPU usage.
Our server is licensed and has never had this problem before. It is the standard version.
Our server is completely down and we are losing clients. From what we can tell a windows update occurred, which we have since removed in case it was the issue, and when the server restarted CF did not come back. We have been working on this for hours with no results.
Please help and let me know anything you may need which will help diagnose our issue.
ThanksSo that others who see this know the solution.
I started Coldfusion from the command line: c:\Coldfusion8\runtime\bin\jrun -start coldfusion. This brought up all the commands as it worked through them. From that we found that CF was looking for license.properties in the C:\Coldfusion8\runtime\lib folder. We found a copy in the C:\Coldfusion8\lib folder. For now we've left it running under my account and then after hours are going to try and see if the service will run now that we've copied that properties file to the other direcory.
Probably simple to everyone on here but was new and odd to us. Wanted to put what we found out here in case it happens to anyone else. -
regarding mountain lion server: clients experience intermittent service connections. the server system log has the following error- Client handshake failed (6):113: Server not accepting client connections. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated - thank you
Hi Jason
I was getting the same behavior after Apple support had me delete some plist files to get Airplay going. I was also getting the following error:
the error occurred while processing a command of type 'writesettings' in the plug-in 'server vpn'
I went into ~/Library/Preferences/ and /Library/Preferences/ and deleted every plist contating the word server. I had to re-set up my server (meaning walk through some intial steps) but all of my settings were still there after that and everything started working again.
Just a thought, obviously try at your own risk but it worked for me.

Service Accounts for Reporting Service in SQL Server Failover Cluster setup
I am setting up 2 Report Services (SSRS) in SQL Failover Clustering (Version: 2012SP1) on Windows 2012, as part of scale out architecture.
There are 2 options to configure the service account for SSRS:
Option 1) Using domain accounts, as what I have done for DB Engine and SQL Agent.
Option 2) accept the default, which is virtual account for SSRS. Per documentation URL:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143504.aspx
which is the recommended one? is it option 2?
There is security note on above URL as well, but does not clearly mention that option 1 is not recommended.
Security Note: Always run SQL Server services by using the lowest possible user rights. Use a MSA or virtual account when possible. When MSA and virtual accounts are not possible, use a specific low-privilege user account or domain account instead
of a shared account for SQL Server services. Use separate accounts for different SQL Server services. Do not grant additional permissions to the SQL Server service account or the service groups. Permissions will be granted through group membership or granted
directly to a service SID, where a service SID is supported.
Thanks very much for your help!Hi Luo Donghua,
In SQL Server Failover Cluster Instance, personally two options can run well. If you use the virtual account for SQL Server Reporting Service. Virtual accounts in Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7 are managed local accounts that provide the features to
simplify service administration. The virtual account is auto-managed, and the virtual account can access the network in a domain environment.
Of cause, you can also use domain accounts in your clustering.
Just make sure your service account is set up here, or that it is using a proper built-in account.For more information, see:http://ermahblerg.com/2012/11/08/cluster-ssrs-in-2008/
Thanks,

Java Program destroys Linux Server Display or Server logs out Automatically
hi,
i am facing problem when my servlet program is running.
my servlet starts a process at server which is a simple java program which publishes PDF,
XML, RTF files and lates long to run for about 45 minutes.
i give a call to a shell file on the server (Red Hat Linux 9.0) which in turns calls a java
program that runs on gnome-terminal.
i have started Tomcat from SSh for that i have exported DISPLAY (Environment variable) from
.bash_profile. i need to do this because i need graphics environment (X11 Windows) for jfor
which is used print jpeg images in PDF and RTF reports.
PROBLEM
Some time my server display gets destroyed or the server gets Logout automatically, when my
process is running.
following is sode to start a gnome-terminal
strCommand="gnome-terminal -x /root/PWAppSh/StartPartialRunOff.sh PartialRunOffApp "+
strpubType + " " + strGroupNumber +" "+ id + " " + Cur_Time+" "+ strPubDate +" "+
strFromDate +" "+ strToDate ;
p = rt.getRuntime().exec(strCommand);
BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(new FileInputStream(strRootPath
+ "/pw/WEB-INF/classes/pid.txt")));
pid= "";
while((pid = br.readLine()) != null)
getPid=pid;
ses.setAttribute("process",getPid);
ses.setAttribute("RunType",strrunType);
System.out.println("#Get Process ID:"+getPid);
FileOutputStream fos = new
FileOutputStream(strRootPath+"/pw/System/Mgmt/Sessions/RunoffOutput.txt");
Stdout_Stderr errorGobbler = new
Stdout_Stderr(p.getErrorStream(), "ERROR");
// any output?
Stdout_Stderr outputGobbler = new
Stdout_Stderr(p.getInputStream(), "OUTPUT",
fos);
// kick them off
errorGobbler.start();
outputGobbler.start();
// any error???
int exitVal = p.waitFor();
System.out.println("StartRunoff ExitValue: " +
exitVal);shell script that get executed from servlet is as followes
cd /
cd /share/Tomcat-4/jakarta-tomcat-4.1.31/webapps/pw/WEB-INF/classes

destroyed when my Program is runnig on Gnome terminal.
kindly help me,
Thanks in advance for ur most important suggestion or solution.Sounds a lot like a bug in some of the native libraries you use (or even in AWT). Try looking into your log files (especially for X and for your tomcat) to find out if any error messages are printed.
Additionally there are X servers out there that don't need any concrete display hardware to run (Xvfb comes to my mind, but IIRC there are more modern alternatives available). Usign that might or might not solve your problem, but would be a good idea either way.
