Lion 10.7.1. Searching on iCal does not work

I have Lion 10.7.1. Searching on iCal does not work. Also, I tried searching form the  spotlight search , it does not retrieve calendar entries. Note: my calendar files are on an encrypted disk image (but I enable the disk image , I can see the calendar).
Any advice ?
Dag

I have been searching for an answer to this problem for about 6 months.  I took it to 2 genius'! Neither could find the problem and suggested I completely wipe my hard drive and reinstall all the software.  There ahs to be another way!

    Since installing Lion OS, iCal does not work.  I cannot add an event, print calendar, etc.  How do i reinstall?

    You can use Lion Recovery
    Before you do that, go to ~/Library/Preferences
    Move the com.apple.iCal.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Trash.
    Restart your Mac.
    See if you can print or add an event now.

  • The Help Tab (OSX ML) where you search for something does not work

    If I click "Help" and then search "expand" it will show me where expand is. But in CS6 when I clicked it the command would go through and pull up the page to expand pixels. Instead, I have to go find it. It works in every other Adobe app I use except Photoshop CC.
    I am on the latest version and on CC

    Hi Peter
    Thanks a lot for your help (and sorry for not having answered quicker, but my boss gave me a more urgent task last week...).
    Anyway, I did what you suggested (re-importing into a brand new project), and then the search for synonyms really worked! But, being a sceptical person, I did the same with another project, and with that one, it did not work. So, what I did next was compare all the settings of these two projects, and I found a difference.
    RH8 now contains a function that's called 'Teilzeichenfolgensuche' (I don't know the English expression, but have a look at the attached picture: this is a screen shot from the second page when I generate WebHelp). After having done several tests, I came to the following conclusions:
    Search for synonyms does not work in HTML-Help, but it does work in WebHelp (and maybe others, but they are not relevant for me, so I did not test them);
    Search for synonyms does only work, when the function 'Teilzeichenfolgensuche' is NOT activated.
    Could maybe somebody test this, too, and post here whether my conclusions are really correct?
    Btw: This fact is not mentioned in the RH-Manual; actually, this function 'Teilzeichenfolgensuche' is not even mentioned there (at least not in the German edition)!!!
    Can hardly wait to see your feedback; thanks again for everybody's support!

    According to Roaring Apps, there is a version of Protools compatible with Lion.  But you may need Snow Leopard 10.6.8 to buy either Lion or ML on MAS.   It looks like you need to get up-to-date with your OS and the apps too.

  • Search in ADF does not work

    Hello.
    I have created a search form with two iterators one for the results and the other for the search criteria. The search form works as expected. The name of the view that i am using is "MasterPartyView1". When i execute the following code
    ViewObject voMasterParty = appMod.findViewObject("MasterPartyView1");
    voMasterParty.setWhereClause("Id = " + MasterPartyId);
    voMasterParty.executeQuery();
    Row rowDest = voMasterParty.first();
    in a backing bean and i go to the search form the only result that i a have is the row that i found in this statement (voMasterParty.setWhereClause("Id = " + MasterPartyId);).
    Why is that?The adf search does not go every time in the database to fetch rows?
    the only workaround for the moment is that i put these two extra lines in the backing bean
    voMasterParty.setWhereClause(null);
    voMasterParty.executeQuery();
    which is not correct because i am fetching all the rows from the database i think.
    Thank you in advance
    Periklis

    Frank thanks a lot for your answer but i still have some questions.
    1 question: One workaround that i found is to the search with the view named MasterPartyView1 and have another instance of the view object(MasterPartyView2) in order to perform the custom search(setwhereclause).This seems to work. Is this approach correct?
    2 question: if i understood correctly you say that both iterators point to the result set of the query (one row) and such is not possible to find other rows. But in the search form there is an invoke action
    <invokeAction id="AlwaysInFindMode" Binds="Find"
    RefreshCondition="${bindings.MasterPartyView1SearchIterator.findMode == false}"/>
    that to my understanding puts the iterator in Find mode, thus making the input text fields available for criteria again. So the search iterator now points to QBE and it is possible to iterate over a collection of QBE criteria rows. is this correct?And if it is why it does not work as expected?Why it does not bring other results?Why the iterators (the seach iterator and the results iterator) still point to the newly created result set?
    Thanks in advance

  • Spotlight Search in Mail does not work.

    I use Spotlight in Mail every day... all day. About an hour ago it just decided to stop working. Contacts, subjects, nothing returns any search results.
    I have restarted, done all system updates, and repaired disk permissions. Still nothing.
    Any ideas?
    Using Mail on Mountain Lion.

    If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
    I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, they may not work as described.
    Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    syslog -k Sender mdworker -o -k Sender mds | grep -v 'boxd\|Norm' | tail | open -ef
    Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
    Paste into the Terminal window by pressing the key combination command-V.
    The command may take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear.
    A TextEdit window will open with the output of the command. If the command produced no output, the window will be empty. Post the contents of the TextEdit window (not the Terminal window), if any — the text, please, not a screenshot. The title of the window doesn't matter, and you don't need to post that.
    If any personal information appears in the output, anonymize before posting, but don’t remove the context.

  • -DeleteContent switch for Search-Mailbox Cmdlet does not work

    Apologies if this isn't the right forum for this question.
    I'm having trouble with the Search-Mailbox cmdlet, specifically when I'm attempting to use the -DeleteContent switch in order to delete a message from a specific user's mailbox.
    I attempt to run the command:
    Search-Mailbox -identity "Some User" -DeleteContent -SearchQuery 'Subject:"Spam Email Subject Heading"'
    And I get:
    A positional parameter cannot be found that accepts argument '-DeleteContent'.
        + CategoryInfo          : InvalidArgument: (:) [Search-Mailbox], ParameterBindingException
        + FullyQualifiedErrorId : PositionalParameterNotFound,Search-Mailbox
    Any idea what could be causing this issue? It's as if the shell does not recognize the existence of the -DeleteContent switch. I have no issues at all with the Search-Mailbox cmdlet except when it comes to using that switch.
    Some background:
    - Yes, I am running the shell as an admin.
    - I'm running EMS on my Exchange server itself through an RDS instance.
    - Running Exchange Server 2010 - Version: 14.03.0181.006
    - My user account is a member of: Discovery Management, Organization Management, Recipient Management, Records Management, Server Management, and UM Management.
    Thank you in advance for any help any of you can provide!

  • ICal does not work properly since the last OS update

    Hi everybody,
    I run a Macbook 15 Retina RAM 16Gb with Mac OS 10.8.4. Over the past months (I think after updating the OS), iCal has not been working properly. TO make a long story short, as you can see on the screen cap, it is no longer possible to select the kind of calendar/color etc when right clicking. In order for example to create a "Meetings" event (see left column on the screen cap), what i need to do now, is to find a previous event (i.e. created before iCal stopped to work) then copy and paste it to the time when I want it to happen in the future and then modify it. Not convenient at all.
    This is kind of surreal (that such a bug has not been fixed yet) to given the price of the  Mac and that iCal is part of the core apps of the OS. I looked over the Internet and did not find a solution. But I must have missed things. Hence I would be very very grateful if anyone could help me.
    Thanks a lot.

  • Late 2010 MacBook Pro 15", upgraded to Lion on Sat 23rd no external display does not work

    Hi all,
    Wanted to ask this question here see if anyone might have a solution to my problem.  I have a Late 2010 Macbook Pro 15" which I upgraded to Lion yesteray.  Ever since that upgrade when I try to connect to my TV to watch a video no joy the image looks like the colours are out.
    I have tried it on different resolutions and always the same.  Then for some reason the MacBook Pro split the screen in two.  So now I see the right of the screen on the left of the TV and the left on the righ with a big black line done the middle.
    Priror to the Lion upgrade everything was fine.  Only since Lion has this been a problem.
    I am using a Minidisply to HDMI cable to go direct into my Phillips 42" Plasma, and I have not got a clue why this is doing this.  The strange thing is it works ok on my Samsung BX2450 down the same cable no problems at all just the TV that has issues.
    Any suggestions?
    Cheers
    ZeroG

  • Manually sorting Reminders in iCal does not work

    On my Mac, within iCal, I can not sort Reminders manually.  I've deleted iCal Prefs and started over, but still cannot sort manually.  Any ideas? Thanks!

    The newest Version 5.0.1 (1547.4) of iCal, for Mac OSX Lion (Version 10.7.2), has the Sort Manually option for Reminders. As stated in the preceding reply, however, this option is not available in the iCloud Calendar. Therein lies the problem, apparently.
    Yesterday, I was on the phone with Apple Support for an nearly two hours, trying to get to the bottom of this issue. Not knowing the answer, the first person I talked to referred me to someone in the iApps department. The person in the iApps department could not resolve the problem either. So, I was referred to a senior technician in that department. After a lengthy diagnosis, this person confirmed that this is a system-wide problem in which the function is missing. The case was forwarded to the engineers, and I will be notified when they have a response.
    Once, I get the response, I will update this discussion thread.

  • Search in Google does not work.

    Hi-
    This is the third time I have attempted to get help with this issue.
    For some reason, I can no longer use the Search in Google feature from within Mail. Nothing happens when I select it from the context menu. I have tried repairing permissions from safe boot, etc. Please help. I am an academic and this feature is extremely useful.

    Yes, dragging the term to the Safari icon does open a Google search.
    I think we might have a surprise fix here then!

  • Smart folder search with "comments" does not work

    I am using Lion (OS 10.7.5), and am unable to define a Smart Folder in which the search criteria is a particular Comment in "Get Info". Nothing appears in the folder. In System Preferences, Spotlight lists under "Search Results" 15 different categories, but "Comments" is not one of them.

    Hi,
    I haven't tried this, but the auth part is mainly added to support credentials for OpenSearch result sources. It might work for SP as well, but you have to make sure you have enabled basic auth on the web app. Have you done that?

  • Lion and installing Canon printer MG5200 series does not work

    When trying to add printer to Lion - my Canon MG 5250 - I receive a message that
    'The selected printer sofware is available from Apple. Click Add to download it and add this printer.'
    I have done this download three times now, and each time when I try to install I receive the message
    'Setting up 'Canon MG5200 series ...'
    The software for this printer is currently aunavailable.
    Please contact the printer's manufacturer for the latest software.'
    I have done this and the software won't install because it isn't for Lion.
    Can anyone help me please?
    Mac Lion 10.7.1

    I finally found the solution myself - I downloaded again the driver called  mcpd-mac-mg5200-10_51_2-ea11.dmg and installed it.
    Then I restarted my Mac.
    After it had completely restarted I checked Printers in the System Preferences. The Canon printer was finally showing
    The software definitely is not available as a software update at this time; it must be downloaded from the Canon website at http://support-au.canon.com.au/P/search?model=PIXMA+MG5250&menu=download&filter= 0&tagname=g_os&g_os=Mac%20OS%20X%20v10%2E7
    Don't forget to restart after installing before checking printers.
    Hope this helps someone else.

  • Ical does not work in Day View

    When I was working in ICal I have input an event in a date but I can only see it or change it when in Week View.
    When I put in Day View it suddenly freezes and nothing appears. What can it be? it's curious that it freezes in October 15th. Anybody saw it before?

  • Yosemite: Saved search from Spotlight does not work the same

    Hi,
    I have various Logic Pro folders throughout my computer and want to create a Saved Search that brings all and only the Logic project files together into one place.
    There's a couple of catches: the Logic file extension has changed over the years with the various application updates.
    It would be nice to create a Smart Folder/Saved Search with something like File Extension:logic OR File Extension:logicx OR File Extension:lso
    However if you just add these search criteria as separate lines, it appears they are "AND" filters so nothing shows up at all.
    I seem to remember older versions of Smart Folders allowing you to have much more control over boolean search parameters.
    After a bit of online investigation I discovered that you can do some more complex searches using Spotlight and then save it as a Smart Folder or Saved Search.
    In Spotlight I used:
    Kind:Logic -.0 -(crashed) -.cst -.pst -.prf -.patch -.logikcs
    This cleaned out all the extra unneeded files and backups that are associated with Logic and just displayed only my desired .logic, logicx and .lso files.
    Awesome! Then I saved it as a Saved Search in the sidebar.
    Which doesn't work. Or at least the extra flags don't work. All I am seeing is the Kind:Logic again.
    This is how the Spotlight search translates across into the Saved Search window (I can scroll across to see the extra flags). Any good ideas or workable solutions? Thx!

    fromObject in the code above is a key (String) that I retrieve from the OrderedHashtable and clone it using the code above.No. How could that code possibly clone a String? Where are you telling it what the new String's contents should be?
    (HINT: Nowhere.)
    I guess there is a work around where I can check if the cloneClass is an Instance of String and just do fromObject.toString(), but I was curious to know if there was a change in the way class.newInstance() works in Java 1.5No, it has not changed.
