Listener not starting on server reboot

for securing listener I have done the following steps:
Created a separate account and group at OS level and brought listener.ora, lsnrctl and related files/directories under this account and group.
I have secured listener by setting password (change_password,save_config followed by reload) on Oracle 8.1.7 running on HP Unix 11.11. while giving save_config the listener.ora is automatically brought under its original user and group. But I manually change it back to the account and group I created.
On server reboot listener does not start automatically.
Please help

Here is the error message, please let me know the solution:

I am running a 2 node DAG with separate Hub & CAS servers
I have already upgraded the Hub CAS server and they are fine
    Exchange running on Windows 2008 R2 SP1
All are in VM-Ware ESXi 5.0
After I upgrade the mailbox server to SP2 the SA and IS service not starting automatic after reboot
If I run "net time /set" command and then restart ADtopology server, the IS and SA starts fine
But again after reboot they do not start
Also I get the below event in the app log when the IS & SA fails to start

If I check the Registry for time resource it is taking from the DC
I manually compared the time between DC and Exchange and it is fine
Since the Exchange mailbox is virtual, I checked the time sync on VM-Ware tools and it is "unchecked"
Checked for group policy and do not find any specific to time sync.
Confirmed that Windows Time service is running
Suspecting a Operating system issue, tried to upgrade the other DAG
Even that node is displaying the same symptom and Issues
Tried to install RU1 on both nodes and that too did not fix the issue.
Checked with VM-Ware engineer and he said that every thing from VM-Ware end is fine
Is Anyone have come across the issue before ?

    Solution:
Open a cmd prompt from the Exchange Server as administrator (right mouse click on the command prompt shortcut and select “Run as Administrator”)
    Run this command
    Net time \\ADServerName /Set
Restart the Microsoft Exchange Active Directory Topology Service
*Important!! You have to restart the Microsoft Exchange Active Directory Topology Service or this fix will not work..  I tried just starting the Information Store service after running the command it it still failed..
This worked for me and all is well on my exchange server.

  • Node Manager not starting UCM Server automatically

    Hi All,
I have configured Node Manager to start and stop UCM 11g server.
But whenever, I am restarting the host OS - Windows server 2003 64 bit, it does not start the UCM managed server, automatically.
I am running two managed servers on the same host OS, the first UCM manages server, starts automatically on every restart.
The second managed UCM server, does not start. I need to then manually start the managed server. There are no errors logged, and the manual start of the managed server happens without any issues.
As a workaround, I tried starting the managed server from Windows scheduler, but it does not start the server as well. I wrote a script like -
    Myscript.cmd
    call E:\..\user_projects\domains\prod_domain\bin\setDomainEnv.cmd
    java weblogic.WLST c:\start....\ServerStart.py
scheduled the script (myscript.cmd) to run from the Windows Scheduler.
Any pointers would be very helpful. Are there any known issues, if there are two managed servers, and one starts automatically, which affects the starting of the second managed server?
I see the following error in the log file -

    Hi Avi,
Give a cross check to your ServerStart.py
As the error states The server name PRD_UCM_Server1 specified with -Dweblogic.Name does not exist
In your ServerStart.py you might have specified as follows
    sh start MAnagedWeblogic.sh server=PRD_UCM_Server1
While these are the list of Server you have in your weblogic
    PRDAdminServer,
PRD_UCM_server1,(You have Specified in your command PRD_UCM_Server1
    PRD_IBR_server1
The Command should be as follows
    sh start ManagedWeblogic.sh server=PRD_UCM_server1
    This should help

  • FNDFS Listener not starting after patching

    12.1.3
    redhat 4.8
    DB 11.2.0.1
We recently did patching on our R12 system. The system is online, however the concurrent managers are not working due to the APPS_NPCP listener not starting. When attempting to start FNDFS this is the error we get. This was a working system prior to applying the patches. I can provide a list of patches if needed. There were just under 30 of them I believe. The majority of them were in doc # 437878.1

Nothing really should have changed in the context file or in how the tnsnames.ora is generated, looking at the file it appears correct. What else can I check as to why this won't start anymore?

Where the patches applied to the correct ORACLE_HOME?
Have you verified the contents of listener.ora and tnsnames.ora file under $TNS_ADMIN directory? Running AutoConfig should usually fix those files (assuming it completes successfully and you have proper entry in the /etc/hosts file and your FND_NODES table entries are correct).
How to get a clean Autoconfig Environment ? (Doc ID 391406.1)
    Thanks,

  • Could not start SDM Server - another Server may be running already

    Hi
I have some problems with SDM after upgrade to SP16.
Right now i can't neither start it, nor change password..
it has an error but i don't understand it, because i have only one instance and the server is stopped.
I'm enclosing the error, please, if you have some ideas let me know.
    Thank you.

A lot of thanks of your answer (both of you)..
None of the prerequisits of the note exists on my system.
"1)There is a started SDM server on the system. All SDM commands have to be executed when there is no started SDM server. Or SDM port is busy by another application."
Server is on red color. I had reseted all tha instance, nobody use it, any applications.
"2)2. The executed command can be run only if SDM is in standalone mode."
Yes, i ran before the next command:  Execute :
    sdm jstartup "mode=standalone" "sdmhome=C:/usr/sap/<SID>/<Instance>/SDM/program"
"3. SDM port is busy by another application."
the port is only used for sdm wich is off...
Anyway, in order to get the solution, i started with the steps described on the note, but i had a problem with the StopServer.bat
           3.Run
                   StopServer.bat  (for Windows)
When i run it, i got another message (i though a similar one):
    "Sending shutdown on port 50018

    Could not shutdown server.
Details: Shutdown failed: SDM currently runs in monolithic mode. Logons cannot be accepted.

    Any ideas?
    Thank you.

  • Listener service not start automatically after reboot in Win2K server Clust

    Hi all,
I set up a two node Server Cluster with Microsoft Windows 2000 server cluster service. Hardware are two HP DL380 servers and HP MSA500 (the shared storage). The cluster's IP address is 10.1.241.65. When I shut down both servers and restart the primary server, the listener server service will not start automatically. The listener log is:
    Started with pid=1108
    Error listening on: (DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=10.1.241.65)(PORT=1521)))
TNS-12545: Connect failed because target host or object does not exist
    TNS-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error
TNS-00515: Connect failed because target host or object does not exist
32-bit Windows Error: 49: Unknown error
The service is set up automatically start. I suspect the cluster virtual IP is not available immediately after reboot. So I tried setting the Recovery after first failure and second failure to 3 minitues each, and setting up Dependencies of the listener on the cluster service in the Win2K Service panel. Neither worked.
The service can be manually start.
    Any suggestion?
    Frank.

The command to start automatically the listener is :
    lsnrctl start
check the parameters in : <ORACLE_HOME>/network/admin/listener.ora
check the IP address or host name

  • Configuring Oracle to start upon server reboot

    Hi all,
I have a server running RH 4 with a single instance of Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.1.0 - 64bit running on it.
I would like to configure the database to start and stop upon server reboot.
    I have configured oratab
I have placed the following in: /etc/rc.d/rc5.d
    lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 15 May 4 2010 S99dbora -> ../init.d/dbora
I've set my ORACLE_HOME in dbora.
Nothing happened when I rebooted though. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Are their logs I can check to see if the script was even called?
    Thanks very much

    geeter wrote:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b15658/strt_stp.htm#CFAHAHGA
Linux is one of the OSes listed, but not the distribution.
Also isn't the sample dbora file supplied an init.d type script?Yes, but it does not conform to specification for init.d on RedHat kernels. The specs on a Debian distro is again different from that RedHat. Which is different from the original SVR4 (System V Release 4) standards.
I would not expect Oracle documentation to cover all these standards. It provides you with the basic init.d style script - it is up to you to implement that correctly so that it adheres to specs of your o/s for init.d startup and shutdown scripts.
So the doc is not wrong - merely not "complete" as it does not cover the finer details of differences in init.d implementation across Linux/Unix versions and distros.
I would also not use that dbora script as is - I would instead make a copy of an existing script and then customise that. This will ensure that the specs are met. For example, displaying the service name with a green OK or a red FAILED status simple needs one to include the default init.d script library. Similarly, you can use default/supplied checks for whether the network is up (required for starting the Oracle Listener) and so on.
The docs are an excellent start and reference - but it cannot cover every single detail. So it is not that the docs are wrong - but that you are expecting perhaps too much from the docs in this case.

Moved our 11.1.2 Windows 2008 SP2 (not R2) 64 bit machines from one domain to the other (test to prod) and reconfigured the repositories to the prod SQL server (2005). Configuration is all green yet the EPM_epmsystem1 will not go to started. It sticks at Starting and after some type of time out stops.

  • Urgent! http listener not started with services

    Hi,
I installed oracle 9i on my win2k, and it runs fine when I started manually with the ${ORA_HOME}\j2ee\Oracle9iDS\startinst.bat.
I then try to registrate it as services with this command: rwserver -install rep_mypcname autostart=yes
It registrated successfully and I save it is started automatically, I also saw an icon (smart agent) on my right hand bottom taskbar.
But when I tested it via http://localhost:8888/reports/
It can't find the server, and obviously no http listener is up.
All my config are default, here is my rwservlet.properties:
    SERVER_IN_PROCESS=YES
Also there is no log files generated in ${ORA_HOME}\j2ee\Oracle9iDS\log\ when it is started as service, but if it is started from command line by using "startinst.bat", some log files are generated.
    Am I missing some steps?
    Thanks.
    David

    David,
Script startinst.bat starts the OC4J instance, not the Reports Server. When you send request to http://<server>:<port>/reports/rwservlet, it will startup an in-process Reports Server if it has not been started.
    The command you run:
    rwserver -install rep_mypcname autostart=yes
only install Reports Server as a service. It has nothing to do with OC4J instance, which you will still need to startup yourself. That's why http server is not up.
The difference is that if the Reports Server is up, after you start up OC4J, the in-process server will no longer need to be started.
