LMS 3.2 and QPM 4.1.2

Hi Forum,
my customer play to deploy LMS 3.2 and last QPM 4.1.2 on the same server.
In the documentation of QPM only Common Services 3.2 are mentioned. Does this match with LMS 3.2 - since LMS utilizes CS 3.3?
Does anybody know something about that?
Thanks a lot in advance.
Frank

No, you cannot install these two on the same server. Doing so will break both products. You must dedicate a server to each since they require different versions of Common Services.

Note : you do not need a new liense for LMS 3.2 , your existing license will just work fine

  • LMS 3.2 and MS SCOM and SCCM

Is there any recommendation regarding installation of CW LMS 3.2 and MS SCOM and SCCM on the same server?

This was not tested internally, so I cannot say whether or not there are any conflicts or problems.  If possible, consider virtualizing LMS on one VM with the MS managers on another VM.  Provided resources on the hardware are sufficient, this would be the safest course if all suites need to be on the same physical server.

  • Lms 3.2 and window server 2008 r2 standard

we have bought lms 3.2 and window server 2008 r2 standard. Now we know, it cant be used togetther
Could we upgrade to lms 4.0.1 ? If so, how can we do ?
    thank you.
    Duyen.

Correct, LMS 3.2 is not supported on Windows 2008 R2.  You can upgrade to LMS 4.0 (which is supported on R2), but that is not a free upgrade from LMS 3.x.  You can, however, download a free 90-day eval of LMS 4.0 from http://www.cisco.com/go/nmsevals .
It sounds like you need to contact your reseller or account manager to see what they can do.  If you just purchased LMS 3.2, you may be able to get a free or discounted upgrade to 4.0.

Yes, but not recommended. Keeping them on separate servers will be more beneficial.

    4506-E are in IOS 12.2(53)SG2.

  • LMS 3.2 and RME NetConfig Job - No Devices

I'm runnig CW LMS 3.2 on Solaris 10. If I go to Resource Management Essentials, click on NetConfig, and then select "create" as in "create a NetConfig job", it takes me to the Netconfig Jobs screen. On this screen, I check  "select all devices ", but afterwards it says that "0 devices selected". There are over 1000 devices in our inventory, so I cannot understand why they are not found. They are visible on the system module, and in RME-Devices. But they are not availalble for RME Netconfig jobs.
    Any ideas?

When I enter the NetConfig jobs screen, I click on "create" ,which takes me to the next screen, where I click on "device" , which takes me to the next screen where I have a select "device box" and a "select task" box. Checking the "all devices" option results in "0 devices select". If I click on the "+" sign on the "all devices" option to expand a list of all devices, it changes to a "-" but does not show any devices.
About the screen shot, due to the confidential nature of my work environment, I may not be allowed to do that. I'm checking with the security manager about that now.

  • LMS 3.2 and user tracking problem

    dfm 3.2.0
    ipm 4.2.0
    portal 1.2.0
    cs 3.3.0
    cwasst 1.2.0
    running on windows server 2008.
This was a clean bulid, and we imported all pertinent data from our old lms 2.6 server. This was in september 2010. Everything worked as expected and continues to work except for......
We are in an upgrade cycle for our 4500s. We are upgrading from 12.2.50-sg4 to 12.2.50-sg8, and also upgrading rommon to 12.2.31r-sga4.
It appears that user tracking is not working anymore for the upgraded 4500s. UT still runs, and works perfectly for all other devices, including the 4500s that have not been upgraded yet. I know this sounds goofy, but it really does seem to be the common denominator. I've checked the windows updates, package updates, etc in trying to figure out what made this happen. It really does all come back to upgrading to the above version. All aspects of this server are running great and as expected, it's just that UT for the upgraded 4500s isn't working anymore. I do run the logbackup script weekly (past experience has taught me to do this), and try and keep up with any patches or package updates, etc.
If anyone has seen something similar or can suggest anything, I'd appreciate it. I think I am going to have to open a case on this. Thanks - chris

    Michel,
Indeed, it looks like that is the problem. I guess I was focused in on CW rather than the whole picture. But yes, indeed, if I walk the mac table for a vlan on a 4500 that has not been upgraded it works. If I do the same on an upgraded one, I get nothing.
The cautious optimism is that we do have a sup6 at our DR location that is running 12.2.53-sg1 and this test works on that switch. So as long as that
version isn't deferred, we'll test that on one of the older sups to verify.
So thanks for the help, I appreciate it - chris

  • LMS 3.2 and ACS 5.1 authentication issues

    Hi all,
Installed LMS 3.2 (running Common Services 3.3.0) and i'm having problems authenticating. I get the error :-
    -Tacacs+ Connectivity - Reachable

    AAA client - Not Applicable
Secret Key Verification - Not Applicable
System Identity User - Not Applicable
Note Verification failed for ACS server. Please check your settings.
Ive tried both http and https with the same result. Now i understand that integration as we know it is no longer supported but still having issues with authentication which should work. See links to other threads below. Any suggestions welcome.

LMS cannot integrate with ACS 5.x.  You must set the AAA mode to local, then you can configure the TACACS+ login module to do authentication only with the ACS 5.x server.  This will not get you customer roles nor device level access, but you can at least centralize your user credentials on the ACS server.

I've tried to edit TacacsPrompts.ini also with suggestion to enter "," after last space character
I'm using only TACACS so all prompts are the same. I'm using MOTD also.
TACACS prompt looks like this example : "TEST username: ,TEST password: " so this looks obvious.
The issue started to appear after some patching done to RME and CiscoView, but I'm not sure that this is connected anyhow.
    Thanks for all the help

    Hi!
They gave me the solution like this:
    line vty
    timeout login response 90
Ofcourse it helped but this it still inproper behavior from LMS side. It sends the username char by char for more than a minute! Guess the scenario with thousands of devices.... It will take ages to telnet to them. And network performance has nothing to do with that - i'm running the LMS on a powerful Sun and the network is mostly gigabit connected.
Setting timeout login response is a workaround but does not fix the problem.
Still waiting fot some fix to LMS not for fairly acceptable workarounds.
This is NOT case with TACACS enabled on a router. The box responds within moment when telneted using commandline or other NMS software. This is a problem with LMS telnet login mechanism and prompt parsing (TacacsPrompts.ini doesn't seem to work at all, I could type there anything and it has no effect on the login proces).
Besides this SSH to the same box wit TACACS works flawlessly. But then it parses only password prompt not the username - this is sent by ssh.

  • LMS 4.2 and WLC 5508

    Hi all,
    Recently I have replaced 2 4400 WLC by 5508 wlc's.
I have also replaced both 4400 in LMS by those new 5508. They have the same ip's, so I have removed the old 4400's from LMS and created 2 new devices.
When checking the device center, LMS tells me Data collection, User tracking, Inventory and Fault discovery has succeeded.
When I check the Reachability status in device center it is ok for ping, telnet, SSH, SNMPV2 read, SNMPV2 write. However I am not able to open the configuration through Config editor. He gives me the pop-up "CEDT0042: No latest configuration file exists for the device in Archive."
When I go and check the archive summary report, I can see for both devices the log below:
NMP: Failed to establish SNMP connection to x.x.x.x - Cause: Device is Unreachable. Check the ReadOnly community string. SNMP: Failed to establish SNMP connection to x.x.x.x - Cause: Device is Unreachable. Check the ReadOnly community string.
    Any ideas,
    Thanks,
    Joris

    Hello,
I think I have found the problem. WLC 5508 is not compatible with LMS 4.2.2.
I can find this in the release notes:
Cisco Unified Wireless Network Solution Components
The following components are part of the Cisco UWN Solution and are compatible in this release:
Note For more information on the compatibility of wireless software components across releases, see the Cisco Wireless Solutions Software Compatibility Matrix.
    •Cisco IOS Release 15.2(2)JB
    •Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.3
•Mobility Services Engine (MSE) 7.4.100.0 software release and context-aware software
Apparently only Prime 1.3 can manage this device.
