LMS 3.2 - UserTracking (UT) data not up to date

Hello,
I use LMS 3.2 with three servers where CS and CM are running on the first server, RME is running on the second one and IPM is running on the third.
The most switches are 3560-24PS-S or 3560-48PS-S with IOS 12.2(46)SE.
Since some weeks I have the problem, that the usertracking data is not up to date.
1. problem:
end hosts are not discovered by CM. all switches are available for CM and data collection works fine.
data collection is running one hour before the user tracking major collection. I scheduled three major runs a day and minor acquisition every 60 minutes.
2. problem:
there are 56000 entries in the UT database, but only 29000 end hosts have a valid "last seen date". the other 27000 hosts have a date of july 2009. the delete intervall is 60 days after every major update. I don't know why they are in the database. some of them have the state "active".
How I can clean the UT database safely so I don't have any old entries in it when I start a new discovery?
One fundamental question: Is it better to use the UT dicovery cycles or to send MAC-notification traps to the CM server?
I think to send traps could be the better way because on a NAC it works fine, too.
Thanks for any advise.
Sven

If you have a 5000 device license, then Campus will only manage 5500 devices.  No more will be managed after that.  That said, Campus has a recommended limit of 5000 devices total.  If you have a 10K license loaded, Campus will attempt to manage more than that, but such a configuration is not supported.  you would need to reduce the managed device count to 5000 before contacting TAC.  See http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/net_mgmt/ciscoworks_lan_management_solution/3.2/install/guide1/prereq.html#wp1101012 for details.

  • LMS 3.2 - Syslog Config fetch not working

    Hello,
the syslog config fetch on my LMS 3.2 with RME 4.3.0 is not working.
I get syslog messages from devices and the count in the syslog collector status is okay.
But in the syslog message summary in device center the count is not getting higher with every message.
And the config fetch is not working.
I changed the logging level in the collector-properties to "debug" and got the following messages for a device which I want to fetch:

Evrything looks good. Are you able to access LMS in the server itself? Try to install another browser on your server and try to login.
    Try both :

  • LMS 3.2 with SNMP v3 not working

    Hi ,
My network is currently running with SNMP v2 configured in easch devices. With snmp v2 our LMS 3.2 server is working fine. However we have planned to migrate our network to snmp v3 . I have configured my few devices for SNMP v3 and added them to my LMS server.
Except DFM module these new SNMP v3 devices are working fine in all other modules. In DFM these devices are reflecting under "snmp timeout" group.
I checked with device center -> management station to device; where the SNMP v3 connections are showing "okey"
following are tyhe configuration i have done in my devices.

  • LMS 4.1 user tracking does not pull ip address from hosts on switches

New install discovered router and switches at same location with no issues. However when running an acquisition on those switches most fields are populated except the ip address of end host associated with port. Mac address, port speed, etc. but no ip address info on per port basis. Any ideas, using snmp v3 if that makes a difference.

Thanks for this.  This really clarified things in my head.  I didn't realize that you were not seeing MACs in UT.  This is a new feature of LMS 4.1.  UT will show those ports that are up/up even if the MAC address cannot be determined.  The reason the MAC address cannot be determined is that your switch code is too old.  You need 12.2(25)SEE or higher to support SNMPv3 contexts necessary to poll MAC addresses.  If you upgrade, then configure the following for each VLAN context (seen in "show snmp context") then you should see those MACs (then IPs):
    snmp-server group v3group v3 context vlan-10

  • LMS 4.0.1 - inventory does not provide details about ports on T1/E1 HWIC

    Hi,
I'm running LMS 4.0.1 on Windows Server 2008 Standard SP2
In the management system I have Cisco ISR 2921 and Cisco ISR 3945 devices with Cisco 4-Port Clear Channel T1/E1 High-Speed WAN Interface Card.
The issue is that for some of those devices, the inventory does not discover the ports on the T1/E1 HWIC card
When i run a Detailed Inventory report (attached is a screenshot) it shows that there is T1/E1 HWIC in the device, but it states the it has 0 ports. In the same time these ports are operational and are managed by the Fault Monitor application.
Another thing is, when i use CiscoView to monitor/config the device, it does not show color information about these T1/E1 ports (screenshot attached).
    The SNMP settings are verified.
Any idea would could be the problem?

    Hi all,
I am trying to use performance threshold to trigger a script whild device CPU or Memory high.
There is a default threshold template called "CPU Utilization" and "Memory Utilization".
After I choose either one, there should be one or two variable name in drop down list.
But I only see "Select MIB Variable" in the list.
I try to create a template with exact the same variable but still got nothing in the list.

Now I have a installation with 2 core switches, one has all VLAN Interfaces up, the second one the same interfaces with SAME IP addresses in shutdown state.

    Thanks, Elisabeth

You need to be running Campus 5.0.4 or higher to get working end host acquisition on access-points.  Then, you must have the acquire end hosts on AP box checked under Campus Manager > Admin > User Tracking > Acquisition.  Your APs must also be configured for multiple VLANs.

  • Cap 2 not passing Score Data to LMS

Has anyone run into a problem with CAP 2 failing to pass the
cmi.core.score.raw value to an LMS? All other completion info seems
to be going fine and the quiz manager and Advanced interactions
screen look good. AM I missing something?

    KB in FL,
Typically, it's because your LMS isn't following the SCORM
    standard. You
can try to send the score as "Percent" and see if that helps.
    Otherwise,
    here's what's *supposed* to happen...
Captivate queries the LMS for what "core" children it
    supports. Captivate
    makes a call similar to:
    LMSGetValue("cmi.core._children");
The LMS is supposed to respond with a comma-delimted string
    of all of the
    core values it supports
    e.g.
    "student_id,student_name,lesson_location,lesson_status,score,session_time..."
(Please note, this is only a subset of the string that
    *could* be returned)
If the LMS doesn't return any values - then Captivate will
    not send any
values to the LMS. Captivate only returns data for the values
    that the LMS
supports. Did you notice the "score" value, in the string
    above? Well -
that doesn't mean that the LMS supports *all* score values -
    because
Captivate is then supposed to query the LMS for what "SCORE"
    values it
    supports:
    LMSGetValue("cmi.core.score._children");
The LMS is supposed to return a string that contains
    something similar to:
    "raw,max,min"
If the LMS doesn't return the "raw" value - then the raw
    score isn't sent to
    the LMS.
I could validate this with a debug file I have laying
    around...
    http://www.learningconsulting.com/content/macromedia/captivate/Capviate_SCORM_Debug.zip
Run that file through your LMS and send me screen shots of
    the dialogs that
    appear at the end:
    Andrew AT LearningConsulting DOT com
If it is what I think it is - Captivate can workaround this
    non-compliant
    LMS.
    Regards,
    Andrew
