Load-balancing issues with iPlanet and multiple clusters
We're in performance test of a large-scale clustered deployment based on WLS 5.1sp10.
Due to scalability/functionality issues, some of which we've seen firsthand and
some of which we've been informed of by associates as well as BEA representatives,
we've chosen to implement multiple clusters with a maximum of three nodes each.
These clusters will be fronted by a web server tier consisting of iPlanet servers
using the proxy plugin.
Due to hardware constraints (both in test and in production), however, we've configured
the iPlanet servers to route across the multiple clusters. In our test environment,
for instance, we've got a single iPlanet server routing across two 3-node clusters,
and the configuration in obj.conf is as follows:
<Object name="application" ppath="*/application">
Service fn="wl-proxy" \
WebLogicCluster="clusterA_1:9990,clusterB_1:9991,clusterA_2:9990,clusterB_2:9991,clusterA_3:9990,
clusterB_3:9991" \
CookieName="ApplicationSession"
</Object>
Our issue is that the load-balancing doesn't appear to work across the clusters.
We're seeing one cluster get about 90% of the load, while the other receives
only 10%.
So, the question (finally!) is: Is this configuration correct (i.e., will it
work according to the logic of the proxy plugin), and is it appropriate for this
situation? Are there other alternative approaches that anyone can recommend?
Thanks in advance,
cramer
I use weblogic6.1 with sp2+windows 2000.I develop a web application and deploy
it to cluster.Through HttpClusterServlets proxy of weblogic I found that a server
in cluster almost get 95% of requests but another only get 5% of requests. Why???
I don't set any special parameter. And the weight of the two clustered server is
equal.I use round-robin arithmetic.
Thanks!

Load balance issues with RV042
Hi,
I have some issue to configure my RV042.
I have 8 voip phones and 10 pcs on my network. I used DHCP to attribute IP between 192.168.1.10 and 192.168.1.20 to the phones and over .100 to the PC. I want my phone to have their own connexion. My switch doesn't support VLAN
Here is a screeshot of my config
The phones use WAN2, the PCs use WAN1 except to send emails.
Everything seems ok. If I change the ip of my computer to 192.168.1.19 I can verify on the web that my public ip is know as the one of WAN2, and if I change for 192.168.1.115, my public IP is the same as WAN1.
Few days ago, I checked the web interface of my phones provider and I watched the public IPs of each of my phones. Some have the wan2 IP but other have wan1 IP.
I thought I forced my phone to use WAN2 internet connection ... so how would my phone providers know the wan1 public IP ?? Is there another thing I have to check or force to avoid my phone tu use WAN1 ??
Thanks in advance,
FranxooisUp
Any advice or something I should learn or check ? Is this normal or known bug ?
Is there an easiesr way to do something like that ? -
Does anyone have a recommended network, hardware and software configuration guide for a Portal installation running with multiple gateways load balanced (ie one URL) that talk to multiple servers?
David,
We've used Resonate (software) to load balance the gateways. It allows
you to group all the gateways under 1 virtual URL and load balance the
incoming connections over each gateway depending on the rules that you
define in Resonate. Look in the SUN portal whitepapers there is one that
talks about it specifically.
As far as load balancing the calls to the portals, the gateways will
automatically load balance across all the portals that they know about
using a simple round-robin rotation. You may be able to use Resonate in
front of the portals but you may need to activate persistance within
Resonate to ensure that the user always ends up on the portal that he
established his initial connection on (if you want that), check with Sun
on this one.

We have a situation in our project.
We have weblogic8 sp5 server having a MDB deployed which consumes messages from distributed queues created on WLS8. OSB business services post messages on these distributed destinations.
Set up:
Non production environements have 2 instances of wls8 servers and 2 instances of OSB(weblogic) servers.
Production environments have 4 instances of wls8 managed servers and 2 instances of OSB(weblogic) servers.
Weblogic 8 server has a custer created with only hostname comma seperated. e.g. host1,host2.
OSB(weblogic) server has cluster created with hostname and port comma seperated. e.g. host1:port,host2:port.
Scenario 1.
When wls8 cluster address is used in OSB business services, load balancing is not happening. Messages go on only one of the wls8 managed server. If this server goes down, then only messages goes on the other server. With this, we have got fail over and not load balancing.
Scenario 2.
When wls 8 managed server urls are used with comma seperated in OSB business service, some times load balancing happens. This is also not conclusive as when any of the wls8 managed server goes down and comes up, load balancing stops working and all the messages goes to one of the up servers.
Scenario 3.
On produciton environmet, we have 4 instances of wls8 managed servers and 2 instances of OSB(weblogic) managed servers.
As discussed in scenario1, when cluster address is used, load balancing does not happen and all the messages go to 1 of the 4 managed servers. When comma seperated urls are used, some times load balancing happenes but it is load balanced in 2 of the wls8 managed servers. Other 2 do not get any messages.
We have custom error handling done to catch all the errors occured when any exceptions occurs in proxy service or while invoking business service. Tried adding 4 different urls in end point uri of busness services. If any of the endpoint is down, it gives an error and message flow gets aborted. Tried with enabling retry count. With this, when any endpoint down, it raises an error which is collected in custom error collector and then tries with another available uri. With this, for any error and after successful message flow, an error is logged.
Any pointers on above points will be helpful to solve our loadbalncing issue.

Pravin

Hi all,
During our testing we are getting a load balancing issue. However, one of the agates in our network is has more CPU power than compared to the other agates in our ITS network. The memory on all the agate servers is the same.
Our current issue we are getting is the one agate that has more cpu power but acquires more sessions as compared to the other two agates. It roughly gets 60 more sessions per agate process as compare to the other Agate servers. Does having more cpu on a Agate affect the load balancing on ITS? We are on ITS patch level 19 with the Hotfix.
Thanks,
Jin BaeHello Jin,
yes, at (re)initialize the WGate retrieves the capacity from the AGates.
This is an accumulated number based on CPU performance and the number of CPUs!
The number can be seen in "wgate-status" as the "Capacity" of the AGate.
When running multiprocess Agates the number is retrieved from the MManager and also involves the number of agate-processes.
The WGate dispatches the load in proportion depending on these capacity numbers.
By my knowledge there is no way that these values can be configured (fixed).

CSS arrowpoint cookie load balancing issue
Hi guys,
I need some advice on a load balancing issue.
We have connections hitting the CSS via a proxy environment. As a result i see only one source ip address. I want to use arrowpoint cookies for session stickeyness. However when i enable the rule the tcp session negotiation fails. The CSS sends a TCP/RST which terminates the session.
Here's the rule config:
content HTTP_rule
add service ZSTS299102
add service ZSTS281101
vip address <filtered>
add service LONS299102
add service LONS281101
balance weightedrr
change service ZSTS299102 weight 5
change service ZSTS281101 weight 5
advanced-balance arrowpoint-cookie
protocol tcp
port 80
url "/*"
active
Any help would be much appreciated.Remko,
in L3/L4 the CSS sends the SYN directly to the server.
So when the FIN comes in, we simply pass it to the server.
With L5 the CSS spoofs the connection and we select the server only after receiving the GET.
If there was some delay between the GET and the FIN, the CSS would have time to establish a connection with the server and the FIN could be simply forwarded.
Unfortunately, in this case the FIN is right after the GET with no delay.

An issue with authentication and authorization on ISE 1.2
Hi, I'm new to ISE.
I have an issue with authentication and authorization.
I have ISE 1.2 plus patch 6 installed on VMware.
I have built-in Windows XP supplicant and 2960 cisco switch with IOS c2960-lanbasek9-mz.150-2.SE5.bin
On supplicant I use EAP(PEAP) with EAP-MSCHAP v2.
I created authentication and authorization rules with Active Directory as External Identity Source. Also I applied authorization profile with DACL.I login on Windows XP machine under different Active Directory accounts. Everything works fine (authentication, authorization ), but only for several hours. After several hours passed , authentication and authorization stop working . I can see that ISE trying authenticate and authorize users, but ISE always use only one account for authentication and authorization . Even if I login under different accounts ISE continue to use only one last account.
I traied to reboot switch and PC,but it didn’t help. Only rebooting of ISE helps. After ISE rebooting, authentication and authorization start to work properly for several hours.
I don’t understand is it a glitch or I misconfigured ISE or switch, supplicant?
What should I do to resolve this issue?

Hello All,
I have an issue with GR and IR. Following is the scenario.
PO is created for 1 PC at 100 USD. Material is having moving avg price.
GR is done for 1 PC at 100 USD.
IR is done for 1 PC at 100 USD.
again IR is done for 1 PC at 40 USD. (Total IR is done for 140 USD)
Now GR is reversed at 122 movement type for 1 PC.. Amount reversed is 70 USD.. [(100+40)/2]
IR is done (credit memo) for 1 PC at 100 USD.
again IR is done (credit memo) for 1 PC at 40 USD. (price changed manually in MIRO)
So now open GR Qty is 1 PC for 70 USD.
Please suggest how to balance the GR ie how to make zero Stock.
Also let me know where to make a check so that IR is not done beyond the Stock maintained in PO.? How to corrrece the program?
Thanks in advance
Forum ShahHi,
First Let me make you clear, that system nothing to do MAP of material it fetch Material Price With PO for GR and even for reversal for GR.
If you have GR Based IV and you have done GR for I PC then you can only do the IR for One Piece.
For Other 1 PC with 40 USD
There may be possibility that for next in T Code MIRO, you may be doing Subsiquent Debit/ Credit in which system only for value not qty.
Because IR has nothing to do with Qty, system will distribute value to qty as per stock available or Price Type.
and if you have done 122 for that material, then system will ask for material number or delivery note.
Then system will only reverse the GR Qty.
please check the logs of the t codes done.
Hope Help U !

A little background, before I get into my iWeb issue.....
Years ago I tried iPhoto, but I didn't like how it duplicated all my photo files and I wasn't very fond of the file structure it created. Years later (last month) I got Aperture. Aperture (still has a long way to go) also duplicates all your files and places them in their own file structure. If I can get along with Aperture (and if it will get along with my other programs), I won't mind putting all my files into the file structure it creates. But for now, I still have my original files in the original file structure I have had for many years as a back up.
On to my issue with iWeb and Aperture....
To add photos to iWeb, you can either go into the iWeb media center or you can drag and drop photos from other locations.
1st: iWeb media center
To get my photos into the media center, I would have to load them into iPhoto (iP 6 does allow you to keep your original file structure, but it still creates .jpg files, which fills up your hard-drive. More duplicates I don't need or want). So that is out for me. iP6 will let you view and use your Raw files.
Another way is to drag and drop your file structure directly into the media center window. I don't think this duplicates any files (at least I haven't been able to find any), but it takes an awfully long time to thumbnail all your photos (several hours and still waiting for 22K + files). Also, it won't show any Raw files. Again, out for me.
Aperture won't let you drag and drop its library into the media center at all. So if I was to move all my files into the Aperture Library, I wouldn't be able to access them for iWeb at all.....Out for me.
2nd: Drag and Drop
I was able to drag and drop Raw files directly into iWeb from C1 Pro, Adobe Bridge and Adobe Lightroom.
As I said before, I am trying to move over to Aperture. However, Aperture won't let me drag and drop photos. What is the deal here??? These are both Apple programs and they won't play nice with each other. Very annoying.
Anyway, I put a link below to my iWeb test webpage I made. All the photos were Raw files that I did a drag and drop from C1 Pro, Adobe Bridge and Lightroom. There were no problems with the publishing.
http://web.mac.com/phil_navarro/iWeb/Site%202/Drag%20and%20Drop%20test.html
So, does anyone know if they can get photos from Aperture to work?? Thanks for any responses.
Phil
G5 Desktop Mac OS X (10.4.4)Jedi,
Perhaps you are right.
I am not a web developer and I will never be. I don't feel like spending countless hours learning how to use Dreamweaver or some other Pro web app. iWeb looked like a way to start making websites of my photos for my friends and family (much easier and better than Home Page on .Mac). All I was asking was for a way to drag and drop my photos (especially Raw files) with Aperture. Which I can do with Lightroom, Adobe Bridge and C1 Pro, and without using iPhoto.
I am not a Pro photographer either, but I purchased Aperture based on what was advertised on the Apple website. From that ad, Aperture fit my photo needs almost to a tee. I am looking to adjust Raw files, Crop, Archive and keep my use of Hard Disk space down to a minimum. I can use Photoshop for the other 5% of things I do. However, Aperture has some issues (if you own it, then you already know. If you don't, you can read the Aperture Forum) This is one of the reasons I never went to iPhoto for archiving. I didn't like the way it duplicated all my files, taking up more disk space and its file structure. So even though Aperture won't play nice with other programs, I was surprised that it wouldn't play nice with any Apple programs.
After reading your post and based on what you are saying, everyone either needs to have/learn/use Pro apps only or have/learn/use iApps only. Don't Cross the Streams!!
I guess that means Apple will need to fix DVD Studio Pro. It uses photos that are in your iPhoto library and music from iTunes (iApps in a Pro app??....for shame...."it was never intended"). Also, DVD SP won't read the Aperture library. Does that mean there are 3 platforms? Pro, iApp and Mediocre??
Now I have 2 questions:
1. Can someone please tell me which apps are Pro and iApp, or if there is Mediocre? I don't want to mix them up and "Cross the Streams".
2. Again....is there anyway to use Aperture with iWeb?
TIA,
Narvon -
Are there any known compatibility issues with iMac and Google Chrome?
Does anyone know of any compatibility issues with iMac and Google chrome. A Facebook friend who is a photographer posted recently that Chrome had ruined his iMac. He stead that it ran an update on itself that made safari and chrome unusable - slow running overall. In the end he had to reinstall his OS.
Is anyone aware of this and should I un-install Chrome off my Mac?
Thanks,
S.There is nothing official but your post will attract a variety of personal experiences. I once loaded Chrome and found myself with the dreaded MacKeeper malware, loads of pop ups and conflicts with my system. Part of the problem is the huge range of add ons you are tempted to take on, many of which are not as strictly tested as Apple extensions. I would say, unless you have a specific reason, leave it alone. The best browser is Firefox and for Macs, Safari is OK.

Since updating to iOS 7.1, having issues with safari and wi-fi...
Since upgrading to iOS 7.1, I have experienced issues with wifi and safari. Many websites will not load and I receive the message that "Safari cannot open the page as the server cannot be found". This only happens with the iPad (iPhone 5 is fine), and the same problems do not exist when using 3G (cellular). I have tried a reset, renewing the lease, forgetting the network, rebooting, resetting the modem... Any help would be greatly appreciated.

[solved] Issue with conky and Kde 4
I have a small issue with conky and KDE 4.2. I start conky with a script which I stored under ~/.kde/Autostart. The script is simple and looks like this..
conky -c ~/.conkyrc_kde4
This works fine. But when I restart the first KDE and check with ps, I have 2 instances of conky running. The instances keep on growing with the number of restarts.
I think kde tries to restart all the apps which were running when the session was terminated. Is there a way to change this behavior in general or all the programs or for only a specific program like conky ?

About Flashback malware
Back up all data, if you haven't already done so.
Select ▹ Software Update to install the latest Java update (if Java is already installed) or the Flashback malware removal tool (if Java is not installed under Lion), as well as any other available updates. Installing either of those items should clear the infection in most cases. You must update to the latest version of Mac OS X 10.6 or 10.7 before you can install the Java update.
The removal tool runs automatically in the background and is then deleted. Don’t look for something to click. If the malware is removed, you’ll be notified.
After you’ve secured your system — not before — change every Internet password you have, starting with banking passwords, and check all financial accounts for unauthorized transactions. -
