Load, edit or delete PDF presets in CS6 InDesign not possible, it says: The folder may be write protected.
How do I solve this problem? I also work with Adobe Acrobat Professional X.

OK.
Lets back up a bit and take things step by step so we all know exactly what's going on, and what you've tried and haven't tried.
First, what version of Windows are you using? The use simple file sharing is the very last option on my system (XP Pro) if you open Explorer and then use Tools > Folder Options > and select the View tab. This is also the tab where you will need to make hidden and system files visible, and I strongly recommend showing extensions for known file types as well. As far as I know this option (not to use simple file sharing) is available in XP home, too.
Second, once you've taken care of the first part, please do a search using the search in Windows Explorer, for *.joboptions under all files and be sure to select more options to search hidden and system files. You may find these files in more than one location, but the bulk of them will be in \Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Adobe PDF\Settings (note that this is the same directory as the one in the tree called "shared documents" -- I have no idea why the name is displayed differently in the folder tree than in the path in the address bar). Right click on one of those and select "Open Containing Folder" option.
The folder should open in a new window. Click the go up one level button in the toolbar (looks like a folder with an upward arrow on it), then right-click the settings folder icon and select either Properties or Sharing and Security (both open the properties dialog) and click on the security tab.
At this point, in all probability, the allow options are all grayed out because they should be inherited from the parent object. On my system the only user listed is "everyone" and they have full control. If yours is different, please let us know, and we'll go from there. If it's the same we'll try something different.

Pdf/x-4 2010 pdf preset made via Indesign not compatible with Illustrator?

I am working with a digital printing company and want to create a pdf preset that they can distribute to their customers to help make sure pdfs are properly made for their workflow. We've tested pdf/x-4 on their equipment and want to make that standard the base for their preset.
I made a preset in IndesignCC which shows up and is accessible in InDesignCC and PhotoshopCC, but is not accessible in IllustratorCC. It does not show up in the presets list in the "save as... pdf" dialogue. It does show up in the Edit>Adobe PDF Presets function though.
When I attempt to load the .joboptions file into Illustrator via that Adobe PDF Presets function I get the error "The preset is not recognized as a valid .joboptions file."
I noticed that IllustratorCC is using the pdf/x-4 (2008) standard, while InDesignCC is using the pdf/x-4 (2010).
Is IllustratorCC not yet compatible with the 2010 standard? If not, this is a serious wrench in the pdf preset workflow that allows the applications to share .joboptions files amongt themselves.
Any thoughts or help solving the problem of sharing that InDesign Generated preset with Illustrator would be much appreciated.

Hi jdanek, thanks for replying. PDF/x-4 supports transparency natively, supports multiple color spaces (this allows the vendor's rips to handle color conversion), and is an excellent option for their PDF print engine workflow. They want a custom variety that sets the resolution, bleed, etc. to give to their customers.
I did resolve the issue by making a new preset in Illustrator. That one is also available in InDesign and Photoshop but still, I'm curious as to why the InDesign-made preset is not compatible with Illustrator.

I continue to have a pop saying that either the file in open somewhere in the serve- which it is not- and I cannot delete a particular pdf or edit it.
It's incredibly frustrating and in the end I end up having four files with different names because it won't let me edit the original file!!!!

Are you trying to reduce the file size with the "Reduced size PDF" in the save as other option.
Give it a try if you haven't done it prior.
Open that PDF>File>Save as Other>Reduced size PDF.

Lost my PDF Presets in CS6

I lost my PDF Presets (CS6) so when I try to save to a PDF format, the std presets are not there. How do I reload them? I previously created a custom preset when building a book for Create Space and that is the only preset there - & I have not used this since. (Just background info).

Illustrator actions stopped remembering pdf preset in CS6

Hi guys,
I used to have my actions set up so i could easily save PDFs with different pdf presets, depending what the work was for (print, magazine ad with bleed, newspaper ad without bleed etc).
Now when I try CS6 and set up these actions in Illustrator it seems like the action wont use the preset I set it up with, and just defaults to the last one used.
Is there something I'm missing or is this indeed a flaw in CS6? Its pretty time-saving for me so it would be a big deal-breaker upgrading to CS6.

I had pdf actions that saved them to my desktop in CS5. Imported them into CS6, they did not work so rerecorded them in CS6 and they work.

Interactive PDF created in CS6 InDesign data collection issue

Created an interactive form from within CS6 InDesign. Uses text fields and check boxes with a submit button to forward the completed form to an email address. When tested in Acrobat Reader, the collected information will not be submitted, just a copy of the form -- blank. Any obvious solutions to this, perhaps a step I missed when creating in InDesign?
Also, my submit button creates an email to send with form completed data input, and attachements too, can then be included. Is there a way to bypass the attachements step for the email and simply have an Include (browse) for attachements while within the interactive PDF?

Which version of Adobe Reader are you using for testing purposes? Adobe Reader XI introduced the ability to save filled out PDF forms and submit them. For earlier versions as far as I'm aware you'd need to create a Reader Extended PDF, which is something you can do in Acrobat, not InDesign.
If you have Adobe Acrobat:
Open the PDF form you created in InDesign then
File > Save as Other > Reader Extended PDF > Enable More Tools... and test it in Adobe Reader again.
To answer your second question, not that I know... (neither in InDesign or Acrobat).
However, if you have a copy of Adobe LivecycleDesigner, you can add a form object that can be used by users to include attachments.

Unable to load project after delete some path with files but not used at all

Im using the demo of Premiere Pro CC last demo download today.
All the fuc**ng day editing some videos, and saved, then I deleted som efolder containing some video files (almost not used) then when I try to open premiere the project I were working, premiere opens, load and freezes and nothing happens, it keeps on the main area withouht any windows, and I cant get my 10 hours of work What happening with thei premiere ? And Im unable to open the project in Premiere CC 7.0 from another computer as saif it was done using new version.

Printing PDF files with smb/cups not possible // SLPReg status -20!

i am running SAMBA 3.6.1-1 and CUPS 1.5.0-1 on a dedicated system. Printer: Canon Pixma IP4500 (USB).
The problem is that all Windows 7 clients are not able to print PDF files (since few months) on that printer while printing these files with Linux software is no problem. The PDF files are neither encrypted nor forbidden to print.
I tried to print with Adobe Acrobat Reader X (latest) and Foxit Reader. Both are preparing the pages to be printed and close their printing dialog after processing. Windows printing queue does not show any jobs (which it even does not when printing simple images with MS Paint, which is not a problem).
Windows systems are using the Canon Inkjet 4500 and Canon iP 4500 driver (manually installed). Printing images works with both drivers.
I searched for "SLPReg […] failed with status -20!" but found no helpful information.

CS6 InDesign not exporting doc to anything

I have a catalogue design established in InDesign which Ihave had for about a year and updated twice for the company - this time I cannot export.
InDesign stops exporting when it gets to spread 94/95 and gives me a error message:
I have tried with swf files and flash files and all the same - there must be something wrong on that page on the doc.
Please can somebody help.

If you can PDF everything up to that spread, and then PDF everything from just after to the end of the document, I'd start by doing that. When you're done, you can join the PDFs together with Acrobat. As far as the spread in question, it could be any number of things from fonts to images to a bug in the file. If you have already tried saving to IDML and opening that as Fadabi1 suggested, you could try making a new document and moving all the pages to it with the Pages pallet. If that doesn't work either, you need to eliminate things until you find the problem.
The quickest thing to check are the pages themselves. Zoom in so that you can't see any pasteboard on the spread in question, select all with the Selection tool and delete. Make something on each page (it could be a simple line, shape or text) and export to PDF. If it works, you will know that the pages are not the problem. If it doesn't work, there's a bug on the page. The easiest thing to do is revert to saved, make a new spread of 2 pages just before or just after, move all of the items to the new spread and delete the old spread. This is the least likely problem, but the quickest to check.
Next, try removing all of the type and trying the export. If it exports with only the images, the problem is type. To hunt down which font is the problem, go to Type>Find Font and change one of the fonts to something that you know is good. Try the export again and if it won't go, revert and change a different font to something you know works. If you have lots of fonts in the file and you want to pair it down more quickly, change half of the fonts instead of just one. If that doesn't work, revert and check the other half. Which ever half doesn't work, keep dividing the list in half until you find the one that is causing the failure. Many times, it's a stray paragraph return at the end of a line that has a different font than the rest of the paragraph uses.
If, on the other hand, removing all of the type still doesn't work, it's probably an image. Revert back and remove all of the images and see if you can export. You basically use the same method of removing images until the PDF exports, and which ever one is last is the problem. You can remove them in halves the way you did with the fonts. When you find the image that is causing the problem, try opening it in the program that created it and resaving. Sometimes that will work if resaving creates a new preview. If it doesn't work and you have the option to save without a preview, give that a try, although it will be harder to work with. If nothing works, see if you can exchange that image for something else.
Also keep in mind that there could be more than one thing preventing export. If you get to the end and nothing has worked, you could try making a new document and copying items one at a time and pasting them each onto it's own page in the new document. That will make it easier to find whch item is the problem, as that page won't PDF. Text frames with more than one font would be harder to pin down with this method, but it's something to try if nothing else works.

CS6 InDesign not opening existing CS3 files

I installed CS6 Cloud, now my existing CS3 indesign files will not open.

Open how and on what system? Mac? Windows? Do you use File / Open or do you double click on a document icon? Always use File / Open from the menu of the application first. Are you on Windows and does the document has the correct .indd extension?

Deleting my Skype account... not possible!

I want to delete my Skype account. The reasons are many, but the main reason is that it simply doesn't work; I can't install the program, Skype claims I don't have internet connection (but how can I be here then!?), and it's utterly impossible to get in contact with support (only numerous FAQ sites). I have no more patience! I don't want to waste more time here.
But getting out of the claws of Skype/Microsoft/Google is not that easy...
When I search for 'delete my account' it says that I can remove all my personal information in my profile, so that people can't contact me (as I can't download the Skype program there is no risk of that!). But no, I can't delete my name, my email, my country and press 'save'. It wants me to fill out the fields again! So, at the end, my name, email etc. will forever and ever be kept at Skype. Deleting or even changing my account is apparently not an option.
I know my harsh words will not delete my account - when I am dead and gone the account will still remain.
Only I hope this will prevent others from creating an account - they have to know that their membership of Skype will last forever...

I have run into this same problem when making amendments to my profile details. Please try changing your profile settings from within the Skype software rather than signing on from the website.

You just needed to quit it ,
install and restart Sugarsync.

Trash the download and any bits it may have already installed, then download again. If you use any kind of AV software, disable it for the install.
EDIT but before doing that, just restart your computer and see if that helps.

Hi Pérsio,
Check In Customizing whether the order type has been set up for storing in T code COR4 (order type-dependent parameters, Master data tab page, Order record required indicator).
IF the option is selected, the system will not delete the record directly. The order record must be archieved and then deleted.
based on this either you can de activate the option or archive before deletion.

PDF force download via jsp not possible in IE ??????????????

Its working in Opera, Mozilla, Mozilla Firefox. But not working in IE. However, in my organisation, only IE is used. Therefore its paramount that it works in IE. Pls help me.

          The problem is as follows:
          The name of the jpf that forwards the requet to the jsp is DownloadPDFController.jsp and the url in IE comes as http://localhost:8053/downloads/DownloadPDFController.jpf
          Now, when this jpf runs and the control comes to the jsp, the pop-up box comes with three options Open, Save and Cancel. But the name of the file to be saved is not the PDF file but the jpf file that is displaying the file.
          This means that what actually is happening is that , the pop download box is coming with the name DownloadPDFController.jpf. I cant understand why its trying to save the JPF.
          The funny bit is that this happens only in IE and not in any other browser.
          Please help !!

Put this at start:
          out.clear();
          if it does not work then... are you using post or get... use Post if you are using get...
