Loaded Outlook mobile app and now I can't send emails through Mail ("Unable to verify account information" error message). Can't use the Authenticator number, either. Help!

I installed the Outlook mobile app on my iPhone using my Hotmail email address and the authenticator code. It works, but I can no longer send emails from Mail. I have not forgotten the password, so I don't know why I am unable to send messages from my mail email account (linked to Hotmail) in Mail. Should I delete the Outlook mobile app? Please help! Thanks.

It's been weeks now without being able to send email from my 'Mail' programme which is linked to my Hotmail account.
All I get is a message coming up saying:
'Cannot send message using the server Hotmail'
'Connections to the server "smtp.live.com" on the default ports timed out'
'Select a different outgoing mail server from the list below or click 'Try Later' to leave the message in your outbox until it can be sent'
Where I have the option to choose an outgoing mail server the only choice I have is 'Hotmail' which displays as 'Offline'
What the **** is going on?????
Is this to do with Hotmail now changing to 'Outlook'???

I found this worked for me, just check your hotmail settings are as follows
You change your POP to IMAP like this
Outlook.com does support IMAP and SMTP.
Incoming server:
IMAP: imap-mail.outlook.com
Port: 993
Encrypted Connection: SSL
Outgoing server:
SMTP: smtp-mail.outlook.com
Port: 25 or 587
Encrypted Connection: TLS
Username: Your Username
Password: Your Password
This won't work on mac os x mail unless you disable pop in your outlook.com account first. If you have mac os x mail, and you don't disable pop in your outlook.com account first, mail will automatically setup pop and smtp.

Outlook Account! Unable to verify account information?

I have always had a hotmail account and have been using it on both my iPhone and iPad with no problem. Recently it asked me to set up 2 step sign in for security reasons which I did. I also changed my password at the same time. Now I cannot sign in. When trying to load my messages it says Cannot Get Mail The connection to the sever failed. If I go in to setting, mail accounts choose hotmail.com and re-enter my password a message comes up Outlook Account Unable to verify account information. Please can anyone help me?

Hi have the same Problem. I solved in that way: (also with skydrive)
Remove the Account from the iPhone.
Sign in Outlook.com directly with an Internet browser.
Create New Account On my iPhone.
Now it works. Also skydrive.

I have had the same problem as yours on my Ipad after upgraded Procreate 2.01. My iOS is 7.04. I tried to find solution from internet for weeks. Fortunately, the problem was resolved a few minutes ago. It is very simple,
1. Lunch outlook.com to confirm you can access hotmail mailbox. It means your account is Ok.
2. Go to setting>Mail,Contacts,Calendars.Delete your hotmail account from your device.(my device is Ipad)
3. Turn off your device, then turn on again.
4. Go to setting>Mail,Contacts,Calendars and create your hotmail account by tap outlook.com. Be sure the incoming mail server is pop3.live.com.
5. Waiting for validation.
That's all. Hope my experience is helpful. Good luck!

If you have enabled Two-Step Verification, then you shoud go to following link:
https://account.live.com/Proofs/AppPassword
You will get password for any applications you want to add, just insert that password in place of your regular password and you are good to go.

I have the same problem, but don't expect Apple to help! I rang their help line and explained the situation and that the same experience is reported all over their forum and they would not assist unless I paid for a one year help subsciption.
This company has lost the plot! They create software that universally will not work then expect customers to pay to have it fixed. Technically I should walk straight into the nearest apple shop and ask for a refund, as the device is no longer fit for purpose!

I follow these step to set up my e-mail account
-setting Mail, Contacts, Calendars
-add new mail account
-selected Outlook.com
-entered my outlook.com address (hotmail) and my password.
-after that I recieved error "Unable to verify account information"
But when I follow these step I can get e-mail on iPhone 5S

-add new e-mail account
-selected other
-entered e-mail address and password
-enter IMAP hostname

This was EXACTLY what I needed about the purchases I made from my device. However, is there a way to re-download other ones you've made from a computer? Because I realized some of them were not just purchased from my device.

HTC One--can't send email through GoDaddy

I was searching for a reason why my husband's HTC One can't send email through GoDaddy's smtp server and came across a locked thread that I can't paste in this post. None of the suggestions worked for me. In checking GoDaddy's site, there was a suggestion to log into the Mobile Mail, which I did. Now I just have a shortcut to that website on the phone. I was never able to get the smtp settings to work on his phone. I just thought someone might like to see what finally worked for us.

Here are some suggestions,
1. Try downloading another free email client to see if it works from there, just to eliminate other possibilities.
2. Try removing the account in mail settings, and adding it again with the correct settings.

Go to Mail Preferences- Accounts and confirm you are providing Gmail what they require to send and receive mail. And DON'T specify Secure Socket Layer. Some mail accts don't like SSL
