Loading LROs from outside into Essbase 9.3.1

is there anybody who could briefly explain the process to load LROs into Essbase WITHOUT exporting them beforehand? My Business User wants to supply a html-link to all level 0 members of one dimension (exceeding 50'000 entries) so I do need a way to load them with a rule or prepare the load file with a program. Please advise, I'm lost!

I'm really not sure why you would want to doThat. Remember it has to be an intersection of all of the dimensions. So when you say you want to load it to all level zero members of one dimension, that does not work unless you intersect it with all the other dimensions.
What I recommend is to manually create an LRO and then export it using MaxL. (Export application.database lro ...... ) to see the format of the export then you can format your file to be similar. It sticks in the back of my mind that you can only get the lro if there is data at the intersection, but It's been a while since I've played with LROs so test that out to be sure

If the data load is one time process, then you can use PL/SQL or datamover to load the data to PeopleSoft application.
If you want to load the data in real time, then you need to create In-bound and out-bound nodes to perform the transaction.

Field Length Restriction on DATA_COLUMN_MEMBERS while loading from ODI into Essbase.

Hi All,
I have a question on Data Loading process into Essbase using ODI using ‘RKM Hyperion Essbase’. While doing the custom Reverse Engineering for level 0 columns, we find a message popup with the below message:
Unable to save Test( ORA-12899: value too large for column "ODI_HYP_W"."SNP_UE_USED"."SHORT_VALUE"(actual: 368, maximum: 250)).
The error says the total length of all the DATA_COLUMN_MEMBERS (Level 0 columns) exceeds 250 characters, which is usually the case in a real world scenario. Is there a setting to bypass this or a config tag to ignore or so ? How has others go around this issue ?

Error While Loading data from HFM to Essbase

Hi,
I am trying to load data from a HFM application to Essbase application. The LKM i am using is "HFM Data to SQL" and the IKM is "SQL to Hyperion Essbase(DATA). I am also using couple of mapping expression like {CASEWHEN(HFMDATA."Account" = '3110', 'PL10100', HFMDATA."Account") } , {CASEWHEN(HFMDATA."Period" = 'January', 'Jan', HFMDATA."Period") } etc.
The error i am getting looks like this -

I am mapping account dimension of HFM to to account dimension of essbase. Both source and target column type is "string" with length 80. Instead of keeping the target "Essbase application", if i keep an Oracle table, columns of which are exactly like essbase application, ODI is loading data perfectly with proper coversion.

From the SQL, you may find the CASEWHEN expressions. Yes these i have added in the interface mapping section, with the help of ODI expression editor. Following are the expressions i have used, one statement for one mapping each. This is just to make the data of HFM, compatible to Essbase. e.g. - account number in HFM for which i am estracting the data is 3110, but there is no account '3110' in the essbase application, so essbase application wont be able to load the data. To make the HFM data compatible with Essbase, these casewhen statements have been used. I hope its fine to use such statements in mapping.

How to load hierarchy from file into InfoObject with compounding Attr & LN

I have created an InfoObject called YCOSTC0 which has a compounding attribute 0CO_AREA. and Text is Lanugage dependent, hence the key is YCOSTC0, 0CO_AREA and LANGUAGE, now when i load hierarchy from flat file as mentioned below, it creates duplicate blank rows in master data table, becuase the flat file contains only the YCOSTC0 Info Object and this data gets loaded into 0CO_AREA column in master data table which is the first column. how can i load hierarchies from flat file into an InfoObject that has a compounding attribute and Language dependent. please provide me a sample file structure with data.

Hi,
after fixing the error with the PRE_LOAD_MAXL_SCRIPT parameter I right away figured out another problem.
On data load I get the following exception: java.sql.SQLException: Unexpected token: ACCOUNT in statement [select   C1_ACCOUNT    ""Account] ...
The SQL source and the Essbase target data store have the same columns, I have mapped them accordingly. As Staging area I use the Sunopsis Memory Engine. The exception is raised in Step '6 - Integration - SQL_TO_ESSBASE_DATA - Load data into essbase'.
I have also tried a File source instead of the SQL source - same result.
Any ideas?

I can find plenty of tutorials detailing how to load
variables from a defined asp page into Flash, but here's my
dilemma...
I have an asp page that is reading a URL with a unique
identifier in it (www.sampleURL.com?id=123456), and then turns the
id number from the URL into a variable. On the same page then, sits
my swf where I need to use LoadVars to pull in that ASP variable
via Actionscript. If I don't have a static asp page to pull the
variables in from and I want to pass the variable within the same
asp page the swf is located on, how do I do it? Many thanks in

You don't need LoadVars for this at all. You can just pass
the variable to
your Flash movie by specifying a query string when you are
calling the
movie.
If you are using the straight object, embed method then it
would look
something like this:
<param name="movie" value="movie.swf?id=11111">
<embed src="movie.swf?id=11111" ... >
If you are using the ActiveContent JavaScript for your movie
then you just
leave off the .swf... so
"name", "movie?id=11111"
Then, in flash you can access the value of id from the _root,
like
var idInFlash:Number = _root.id;
Of course in the above example you would replace 11111 with
the proper
syntax for printing a variable's value in ASP.

Also, i have the following doubts
1. What should be the LKM set for the soruce. Is it LKM SQL TO SQL
2. I have the standard 6 dimensions in the oracle table but Currncy and hsprates in essbase. So how can i ignore these two dimensions while loading data. Or is there a way where i can have default options set for these two dimensions.
3.Can i Load data from multiple tables to essbase. If yes please let me know the procedure.

I'm using multiple time period inputs -- BegBalance,Jul,Aug,Sep,Oct,Nov,Dec,Jan,Feb,Mar,Apr,May,Jun (target has all of those in place of Time Periods)
I'm using hard coded input mapping for Metric, Scenario, Version, HSP_Rates and Currencies. -> 'Amount', 'Actual', 'Final', 'HSP_InputValue','Local' respectively.
The only thing I can think of is that since I'm loading to each of the months in the Time Periods dimension (the reversal was set up to accomodate that)... and now its somehow still looking for that? Time Periods as a dimension does not show up in the reversal -- only the individual months named above.
Any ideas on this one??

Write back from OBIEE into Essbase

Questions about write back from OBIEE (11.1.1.7) into Essbase (EPM 11.1.2.3).
First of all, did anyone manage to do it ?
Secondly, what are the constraints ? (number of cells updated limited, only level 0 of the Essbase database can be updated, only existing data can be updated or things like that ?)
Thirdly, what are the best practices regarding OBIEE or Essbase security when we implement write back ?

writing to Essbase from OBIEE exist for many years...
In the past it was doing via a JSP page but since last year it's supported directly with a simple UPDATE statement.
Have a look at SampleApp 406 (current version), in the Essbase examples there is also the write back using the UPDATE statement.
Just keep in mind one thing: OBIEE is not supposed to be an entry form for Essbase or any other system, it can be used for editing values so you can dynamically change params for what-if calculations (running a calc script after updating a value) and that kind of things.

Not authorized...cannot load songs from iTunes into iMovie

Hello,
I was importing some songs from iTunes into iMovie, something I've always done and never had a problem with before, until this wknd. After I had loaded in the songs into my iMovie timeline, and they played just fine, I then started getting pop-up boxes with the msg. stating: "This computer is not authorized to play...mp4... If you purchased this song you can open iTunes and authorize this computer to play this song by entering your Apple ID password." I did indeed click on the link to authorize, and put in my password, and then when I tried loading the song again, I got another pop-up box w/an Error msg. What gives? I have never seen this before. I checked out the authorization on my computer in iTunes, and it did state that I am authorized (I am the only one who uses the computer). I read some of the posts, do I have to De-authorize, then authorize again? I just don't understand the problem. I even tried burning the songs I wanted onto a disc, then tried re-importing them to iTunes, and it was still the same problem! I thought the whole idea of iTunes was to be able to play them with a project.
Any suggestions would be most appreciated, thank you.

It is a bug that Apple is aware of and apparently working on. I think it is an iTunes bug since it seems to effect both iDVD and iMovie. See these for a few examples...

Load variables from XML into Flash

I was wondering how to load variables from an XML document to
a Flash file? I am familiar with the code to do it for a text file,

my xml doc looks like this
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1"?>

01</picture01>

02</picture02>
<my_title>Las Vegas</my_title>
<my_date>October</my_date>

Error while loading data from DS into cube

Hello All
I am getting the below error while loading data from Data source to the cube.
Record 1 :Time conversion from 0CALDAY to 0FISCPER (fiscal year ) failed with value 20070331
Wht am i suppose to do?
Need ur input in this regard.

Hi
Simply map 0calday to 0fiscper(you already done it)..You might have forgotten to map fiscal year variant in update rules....if it comes from souce,just map it..if it won't comes from source...make it as constant in update rules and give value..
If your business is April to March make it as 'V3'
If your business is January to Decemeber make it as 'K4'..
activate your update rules delete old data and upload again....

Need to import data from DB2 into Essbase

I need to create a Windows process (like a daemon) to constantly check DB2 for updated records and then pull the updated record into Essbase and clean the blocks. Would it be better to:
a) Write a ESSCMD macro with the import command to somehow run constantly
b) Write a Java class that will pull the information with SQL
c) do something else?
Do you have any suggestions for the best way to do this?

What you should do depends on your skills (among other things).. It seems to me that if you write it in Java, you have a whole lot of flexibility that you don't have with scripting languages such as EssCmd or Maxl.
