Loading on a website

I've created a Captivate file and saved it as a flash file
(800x600-6.5M) which is then uploded to a site. The preloader for
me on cable comes up fairly quickly, but those on DSL take nearly
20 sec. I'd like to speed up the process.
Is it possible to instead of creating one file, to break it
apart into several chained files, hopefully reducing load
time?

I don't know that this will answer your question or not
but...
Our intranet can't handle files that are too large so I had
to break down one of my projects into 6 smaller ones linking it
through next buttons in the module.
For example Section 1 was slides 1-15 the properties of the
NEXT button on slide 15 were: On success - Open URL or File - then
the file name in the URL below.
You do have to be careful with your naming conventions (no
spaces) to ensure it links to the correct file. I haven't tried
this with Captivate 2 yet but judging from what my file look like
it will work fine.

Firefox 3.6.8 still having problems loading heavy Flash websites

Upgraded to latest 3.6.8 Firefox version and noting it is still having issues loading heavy flash websites. Takes 5 to 6 times longer to load a webpage if there is Flash on it. I do have the latest version of Flash installed according to Adobe's website so that's not the culprit. Will be uninstalling this latest version and rolling back to the copy of 3.6.3 version I kept which worked great with all flash websites. Waiting for the problem to get fixed before I update again...hoping they can fix this. I noticed this problem starting back with version 3.6.6 and still hasn't been fixed with 3.6.8...

The strange thing is that whenever I load the page with Firebug activated for this page, it renders the Flash instantly. But hardly ever (it does happen now and then, but mostly not) when I'm not using Firebug. I have tried disabling all plugins, running in Safe Mode, but it didn't help. I use Mac OS X 10.6.4 64-bit, FF 3.6.8. Ideas, anyone?

UPDATE: I had 36 Safari windows open and minimized on the dock from my last session; 20 of those windows failed to open b/c Safari "couldn't find the server"; I just went to the URL bar of all 20 pages and clicked return, and all 20 pages loaded perfectly, without dropping any images or losing formatting. This is a puzzle!!!

Firefox (or any browser) will not load one particular website. It shows NO error message, just remains blank

I have the site bookmarked and I try through google as well. Neither Safari or Opera will load this particular website for me. I had this problem in an internet cafe this summer but when i got home it seemed to go away, now it's back. No matter which way I try I cannot get it to open this website. i am using a Macbook pro. I'd rather not have to use an open DNS or google DNS just to open the site i just want it to work like it did before. Any ideas, please?

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
*Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
*Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
You can remove all stored data from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry (Show All History or History sidebar) or via the about:permissions page.
Using "Forget About This Site" will remove everything like bookmarks, cookies, passwords, cache, history, and exceptions from that domain, so be cautious and if you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make a note of those passwords and bookmarks. 
You can't recover from that "forget" unless you have a backup of the affected files.
It doesn't have any lasting effect, so if you revisit such a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.

If you created it in Forms Central, you have to edit it there. I believe Forms Central is similar to LiveCycle Designer in that the form created is no longer able to be edited in Acrobat. I might be wrong, but that is my understanding. You add the submit button in Forms Central. Within Acrobat, you should be able to go to the forms menu and Manage Data to save the data to an Excel file. Others better with forms should be by to clarify things, but this should get you started. In the future you might find it better to post a forms question in the forms discussions.

Problem loading movie on website

Hi all-
I have published, then uploaded my website a number of times on a third party server. Included are 2 movies. Sometimes the movies will show the first frame as they are loading, sometimes they will wait until they are completely loaded before the first frame shows. Obviously I'd rather have the first frame show--or be visible--as the movies are loading. Is there any way I can force the first frame to show as the movies are loading?

I am upgrading from Tiger to Snow Leopard. I keep getting an error when I try to load the Mac Os x update combined. It says that it was corrupted during download. Have try loading from Apple website V10.6.7 upgrade combined but it still won't do it?

Please excuse, but I have to ask an obvious question: Did you already update using the Snow Leopard Retail install DVD? (You must do this first; 10.6.7 is just an update if you already have 10.6.) Are you, then, trying to update from whatever version was on the install DVD to 10.6.7?
Otherwise, I'd keep trying. The 10.6.7 Combo is a huge update.

I have reset Safari, tried other browsers, eliminated cookies..... to no avail. All computers running 10.7.2. I have reset Safari, tried other browsers, trashed out cookies. This has me baffled. My other macs running the same OS version work fine. Flash is up to date and have done the current software update. Any help please. I have not blocked any sites and am administator for all machines. I have tried signing in as Guest. Nothing works.

After searching other users questions with related problem, I found that VirusBarrier 6 was the issue. Reconfigured settings there and problem solved.

Why does my MBP15 take forever to load images from websites?

Hello all! Well the title tells my problem. It seems like most web pages load small images and avatars very slowly....is something wrong with my computer? Anyone else have slow loading images from websites? It does not seem to matter which website I visit...all are slow.

I am unable to load one particular website from my pc,

i was visiting hautelook.com every day for months. just today the website will not load. all other websites load so I am terribly confused. i have reset firefox. cleared all caches and history, unplugged modem, restarted computer several times. ran security scans. Still, cant load that one website. Please help !

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache.

Firefox is unable to load any new websites

Every now and then after running normally for some time Firefox is unable to load any new websites. Instead I get the message "Verbinden..." (I use the German version of firefox). Internet Explorer works as usual when this happens. If I then close firefox I am unable to restart because the Firefox process is still running. Instead I have to stop Firefox running in Task Manager and then restart firefox. It usually works ok for while until it crashes again.

It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Performance/Load test a website with a submittable pdf

I am trying to generate a small amount of load against our website. Ideally I would like to find a tool that will allow me to record, and playback a script that fills out a PDF, and then submits it to our server. I have had 0 luck in finding any tool that will work to automate this process... any help would be greatly appreciated

You can run a script in a document that changes the field values and submits at a regular interval, either using JavaScript in the form or controlling it, or externally using a program that uses IAC (InterApplication Communications). More info is available in the Acrobat SDK, which is free to download from Adobe.

Firefox only loads book-marked websites. no websites load from firefox default home page searh or address bar inputs. HELP

I Run Windows 7 Ultimate. I use Avast anti Virus. Google Chrome works fine. Firefox started not responding to searches queries from its default home page. When I input an address in the address line i also had no reaction. When i clicked om a bookmark it does load that particular website. I have uninstalled firefox completely. Reloaded the latest version downloaded from Mozilla. Still have the same problem. I did a Reset Firefox. No luck. I changed the proxy settings to "no proxy". I have done the "disable IPv6" in about:config. I have created the "network.dns.disablePrefetch" boolean. Still no luck. Please help.

Firefox doesn't load my banking website but other browsers do even after virus and malware scan and cookies & cache cleared

I have cleared cookies and cache, scanned with Panda and still can't load my banking website. I can load the website with any other browser I've tried with no problems.
This is with Firefox in safe mode and in regular mode.

Do you notice any difference between secure sites and non-secure sites in what error message you get?
Do you use any kind of content filtering or parental control software?

Possibly. Make sure you are not using a proxy server. Look in Safari Preferences > Advanced > Proxies > "Change Settings..." This will take you to the applicable Network Preferences. Make sure that nothing is selected in the "select a protocol to configure" list. It should look like this:

Locate your Terminal app. It is in your Utilities folder. Open Terminal.
In Terminal, copy (triple-click) and paste the following line:
osascript -e 'tell application "System Events" to get name of every login item'
This will produce a list of all your account login items.
While you are in Terminal, copy (triple-click) and paste the following line:
kextstat -kl | awk '!/com\.apple/{printf "%s %s\n", $6, $7}'
This will produce a list of all non-Apple kernel extensions. There will be few, if any.
Post the results of the above.
