  • Mac Pro Will only Load windows 7. Cannot get to Mac OS install boot

Ok so I've had this problem going on for sometime now. My Mac Pro will not load Mac OS. When I try the computer shuts down and I have to remove the HD that mac os is installed on. Then the computer will automatically boot into windows and i can reset the bootcamp auto load to windows. I was wondering if anyone here might know how to reset the hardware or firmware so that I can just wipe everything and install mac Os fresh.

The Mac OS drive has a corrupt directory most likely.
If you set the default OS to Mac OS X and pull Windows drive, what happens?

Thank you for your quick response. I can then use a ZIP drive for data storage. I want to keep as much of my hard drive free of data as possible.

How do I load windows 7 on a Mac Air using the super drive?

You use Boot Camp to partition the SSD in the Air, download the Win 7 Support files from Apple (part of the boot camp process), save them to a USB thumb drive, have the USB superdrive connect to the Air with the Win 7 install DVD in the drive. Once partitioned the system will reboot and start the Win 7 install.

You can install Windows on a Mac with Boot Camp or a virtual machine. If you need maximum performance, use Boot Camp.
If you want to use Boot Camp, first check that the Windows version you want to install is compatible with your iMac > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5634 Then, open Boot Camp Assistant, in /Applications/Utilities, and follow the steps to install Windows. Check > http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/boot_camp_install-setup_10.8.pdf
If you want to use the virtual machine, you have to install an application like Parallels, VMware Fusion or VirtualBox, create a virtual machine and install Windows there

  • Installing Windows 7 With Boot Camp on Mac Pro 3.1 w/GTX285 Video card

I have an Early 2008 Mac Pro 3.1 running the latest version of OS 10.6 with all updates.  I have an nVidia GTX285 card installed in the Mac Pro that has been working fine for at least six months under OS 10.6 with Mac drivers downloaded from the nVidia web site and installed under OS 10.6.  I replaced the ATi 2600XT video card with the nVidia GTX285 in order to have CUDA support in Premier Pro CS 5 and it works beautifully.
I now wish to install Windows 7 Professional 64 bit on this Mac Pro.  I have never had any version of Windows installed on this Mac Pro.  I am using Boot Camp assistant and a new full version of Windows 7 Professional 64-bit.
My question is do I need to remove the GTX 285 graphics card and replace it with my AT 2600XT before installing Windows 7?  This would be a real pain to do because the two connectors to the motherboard are hard to get to.  However, since Apple never used the GTX285 in any of its computers, I am worried that I will not have any video display when I go to try and install Windows 7 with Boot Cam assistant.
Please advise me whether removing the graphics card is necessary before installing Windows 7 with Boot Camp.
Thank you in advance for responding.

NO.... he has a workstation, and not MBP, nor are "drivers already loaded."
    How I would proceed -
Install Windows on its own drive.
    Pull all the other drives.
Boot from Windows 7 Pro DVD
Forget Boot Camp Assistant, it doesn't do anything - unless you really want to install Windows on the SAME drive as Mac OS - not ideal and not what most of Mac Pro owners do.
Just insert your OS X DVD once Windows is up to date - helps to buy the SP1 OEM version $129.
Run Apple SETUP.exe (Boot Camp 3.0.x drivers) and update with ASU or manually to 3.2.
No you don't need to go back and use that ATI. And you dont' want to be in the situation of changing from ATI to Nvidia and all the hassle that adds. you are fine.
The Mac Pro is as close as anything to a standard Wintel workstation.
Add MS Security Essentials or KIS or whatever you favor. KIS2011 or NIS2011 are good, MSSE 2.0 is free and based on their enterprise product.

    can anybody help?????

I just successfully installed Windows 8.1 Update 1 on BootCamp on Mac OS X Yosemite. Here is a step by step I just wrote, hope it helps y'all:
How to successfully install Windows 8, or above, on Mac OS X Mavericks or above:
    Requirements:
1- Windows OS ISO Image file
2- An 8GBs USB Flash Drive
3- A good Internet connection as you will need to download the Windows compatible drivers for your Mac
    Steps:
1- Open up Disk Utility and create an additional partition for Windows formatted as ExFat. 100GBs, or above, is recommended as update to the operating system, as well as Apps requiere space on your HD or SSD [This step can be done during Mac OS X's installation process]
    2- Open up BootCamp Assistant
3- Make sure only the 'Create a Windows 7 or later version install disk' is checked and your USB Flash Drive plugged in and click 'Continue'
4- Click 'Choose' and select your Windows ISO Image file
5- Select the USB Flash Drive you will be using during the installation process and click continue to confirm
6- Once done, restart your Mac and hold down the 'alt/option' key on your keyboard to bring up the Boot Menu
7- Select the USB Flash Drive named Windows, not the UEFI Boot
8- Install Windows as you normally would
    * Remember to press and hold the 'alt/option' key, and select the Windows Partition, whenever the installation process requires your Mac to restart

  • Bootcamp not loading windows after installation

Hi there! I have an iMac 27" with bootcamp 5.0.3 and OSX 10.8.4. I followed the instructions to install bootcamp. And everything went smooth. Up to the very end of windows 7 installation when it complained I did not have the proper disk. I just retried and it worked.
So I was able to get to win 7, and then install the additional software from the USB drive. Problem is:
When I restart my mac pressing the  Option key, there's no disk selection for me. I can't load windows anymore.
    Any ideas?
Ps: I'm pretty sure I'll be able to load using the Startup disk, but I'd like to be able to choose the OS at startup time.
    Regards

    Hi
Apologies for the confusion the problem occured when I was using just 384Mb DDR PC2100 memory (2 memory sticks); I switched them for just one stick of memory (512Mb DDR PC2700) and when I found that the problem still remained I decided to use all three memory sticks as it seemed evident that the memory wasn't causing the problem.
To address your second suggestion when I connected the Maxtor HDD I set it as a slave on the drive and connected it to the middle IDE 0 Flat cable connector and shortly thereafter the problem reasserted itself.
    Thankyou.
