Loads Of Temp Files

I seem to be getting loads of temp files created by itunes. I have run a cleaning pass with onyx but they keep coming back. Help!
Paul

I get iTunes temp files in the iTunes folder (not the iTunes Music folder) every now and again. They are labled iTunes database files in the Get Info box. I just checked and see I have some from last August. They are all 4.3 mb. They are named "Temp File", "Temp File 1", "Temp File 2", etc. I have simply deleted them in the past.
I have never noted what was being done when they were created because I only discover they are there when I look at the iTunes folder in Finder for some reason.

  • How to load a .properties file by giving relative path in a JSP file.

    Hey guys,
    I'm trying to load a .properties file in a JSP using relative path...
    It is not taking the properties file..
    What is the problem...?
    Any solution..?
    Thanks a lot.

    Yes I tried that also.
    Your path was something like this ?
    http://localhost:8080/Database/a.properties ?
    Whether this path will change after client installation ? if no then what's the problem ?
    For client side installation how you are going to set your conf directory for your application ?
    You are not going to give client installation page ?which will have all the values to be set like conf path. database,user name(s),log folder,temp folder etc ? Why you are keeping everything on server ?
    Check if this is useful,
    String context = request.getContextPath();
    String rmtAdd = request.getRemoteAddr();
    String host = request.getRemoteHost();
    out.println("http://"+rmtAdd+context+"<BR>");
    out.println("http://"+host+context);
    "http://"+rmtAdd+context

  • Recovering data from Temp file following transfer failure

    Hey everyone,
    I'm wondering if anyone knows anything about recovering Lightroom data from temp files.
    Last month I made a serious, serious error while transferring my files in Lightroom. I was off-loading a month's worth of material off of one hard drive onto another (in a rush to catch a flight), and used Lightroom's "Move" tool to do so. Problem was, they were both portable harddrives and one of them periodically lost power during the transfer. The result was devastating: the vast majority of the images and previews were lost to the black abyss. I did not have a backup of the RAWs or videos. It was... very bad.
    However, I noticed that I could still preview the images in Lightroom. Somewhere, some of the previews still existed in a temp folder or in RAM.
    I found two files called Photoshop Temp in my Windows Temp folder and backed them up to my drive. Together they're over 6 gigabytes and do not respond to opening in Photoshop, nor Lightroom.
    Is there any way to recover some of the data from these caches?
    Thanks so much!

    Hi,
    Is your cube contains 0customer field?? If there is no use of it then remove from the cube so that it gets eliminated from update rules too. If the data type of that object is Char, then remove the alpha routine property in the infoobject level.
    Check the file type in the infopackage also,whether it is checked as CSV or not.
    Hope it helps,
    Regards,
    Neha.

  • Portege 3500 loads start up files but will not setup XP

    When I purchased this 3500 it did not have an OS.
    I managed to find a PCMCIA CD-Rom (thanks to this forum) which it will recognize the Windows XP CD.
    This loads the Startup files but when we get to the Windows setup it closes the computer down requesting I look for virus and do a ch disk on the HDD.
    I put the HDD in my other laptop and Windows seems to go into setup with no problems.
    The HDD seems to have no problems.
    This has bugged me for a couple of months now so any advice from anybody will be gratefully received.
    Many thanks,
    Martin

    Hi again.
    I've found something that might help you. It's not very easy but is should not prove too much of a problem either.
    First go to this website : http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/ and download the latest build of the boot CD (which seems to be a very nice general tool by the way!).
    Once downloaded, unpack it and burn the ISO-file to a blank CD Rom. You'll need a ISO-capable burning software to manage this (like Nero or other similar software).
    Ok, so now you have the Ultimate Boot CD in your hand (hopefully).
    Attach the external CD Rom to you P3500 and turn the P3500 on.
    During the Toshiba-logo press ESC several times. You should get a message saying "Check system. Then press [F1] key."
    If not - if the PC starts booting or display a boot failure message - just restart the machine and try again.
    Now press the F1 key to enter the BIOS setup.
    In the BIOS Setup, press HOME to set default settings, then press END to exit and confirm by pressing Y.
    The machine will reboot.
    When the TOSHIBA-logo is shown press F12-key a few times.
    It should now stop with the boot device selection menue in the bottom.
    If not - if the PC starts booting or display a boot failure message - just restart the machine and try again.
    Make sure that the Boot CD is in the CD Rom and that the CD Rom is attached to your machine.
    In the Boot device selection menue choose the icon that looks like a single disc (CD ROM). Get there by pressing the right or left arrows.
    Mark your choice by pressing ENTER.
    The machine should now boot from the boot CD Rom.
    Once booted choose F6 - DOS/Linux boot disks
    From the next menue choose F1 - FreeDOS boot disk
    Next steps are a bit tricky because many choices you are provided are time-limited so you need to be quick - or like me, slow and have to do the same procedure over and over again to get it right.
    Or! You can use the arrowkeys to abort the timer in the coloured menues! Nice to know when the limits are set really tight.
    Choose no 1 from the menu which is default so if you don't choose here - it will be chosen for you.
    Next you will be prompted with a kind of 'error' message that the software does not recognise the hardware (chipset). Just press ENTER.
    Now the first coloured quiestion will pop up - do like described above if you need more time to think (like me) press the arrow-keys.
    You can press Abort on the first one asking about ASPIUSB
    Next one is important - CD-ROM.
    Press Config.
    In the menue that appears, choose Auto, try to detect all. Move around by using the TAB or arrow key and choose the item with SPACE.
    The press Save - but you will get an error message since it is not possible to save this setting to the CD Rom. Don't worry, press OK.
    Now press OK to run the CD Rom driver.
    Next menue "ASPI"- press OK
    Next menue "Keyboard" - press OK or press Config to pick another layout.
    Next menue "DOSLFN" - Press OK
    Next menue "NTFS Support" - Press OK
    Last menue - Press OK
    Now, finally! You have acess to both CD and HDD. The driveletters are shown at the bottom of the screen.
    Next step is to insert the XP disc, copy the contents from the \i386 folder to a temp directory of the HDD and start the installation from that place.
    Phew!
    Good luck
    Tom

  • Safari 4.0.3 and Dreamweaver temp files

    since upgrading last night when I go to preview files in Dreamweaver, which uses a temp file, all links now open the source file in the finder instead of previewing them in the browser. Both firefox and IE work correctly with the temp files
    Also loading of pages seems much slower.

    So, try download the Safari 4.0.4 update directly from http:///www.apple.com/safari and try installing it that way.

  • Bulk Insert Task Cannot bulk load because the file could not be opened.operating system error error code 3(The system cannot find the path specified.)

    Following error i am getting after i chnaged the Path in Config File from
    \\vs01\d$\\Deployment\Files\temp.txt
    to
    C:\Deployment\Files\temp.txt
    [Bulk Insert Task] Error: An error occurred with the following error message: "Cannot bulk load because the file "C:\Deployment\Files\temp.txt" could not be opened. Operating system error code 3(The system cannot find the path specified.).".

    I think i know whats going on. The Bulk Insert task runs by executing sql command (bulk insert) internally from the target sql server to load the file. This means that the SQL Server Agent of the target sql server should have permissions on the file you trying to load. This also means that you need to use UNC path instead to specify the file path (if the target server in on different machine)
    Also from BOL (see section Usage Considerations - last bullet point)
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms141239.aspx
    * Only members of the sysadmin fixed server role can run a package that contains a Bulk Insert task.
    Make sure you take care of this as well.

  • After OS X reboot - temp file in Trash

    Please bear with me if this has been asked before concerning Dreamweaver CS4 (I saw an older post relevant to Dreamweaver CS3, but there was no real resolution).
    Situation:
    I purchased, downloaded and installed Dreamweaver CS4 onto my Mac Pro (early 2008) desktop running OS X (10.5.8). The installation, registration and loading of Dreamweaver was successful and proceeded as expected. I then rebooted my machine and noticed that the Trash was not empty as it had been prior to reboot. I checked the trash and found a 'Recovered Files' folder containing a file named '_xx41a7.TMP' inside. I placed this file on the Desktop and double-clicked it which resulted in Dreamweaver loading to a blank document workspace.
    Note - it is my understanding that OS X moves temp files that were not deleted when a program either crashes or does not quit properly.
    Attempted procedures:
    In order to troubleshoot my thought that Dreamweaver was the program in question, I performed a clean install of OS X (including updating it to 10.5.8 and installing all updates via Software Update). I then installed just Dreamweaver > launched and then quit Dreamweaver > rebooted. This resulted in the same named file being placed in the Trash about 2 seconds after reaching the Desktop.
    I tried a third test where I restored to the most recent Time Machine backup prior to performing the original Dreamweaver install and then installed Dreamweaver along with the additional software options during the install process in case a component was needed for the temp file to be handled correctly. Unfortunately, the result was the same with the '_xx41a7.TMP' file being placed in the Trash after reboot.
    System Specs:
    Mac Pro desktop (early 2008)
    OS X (10.5.8) with all updates
    Current installed software:
    Photoshop CS4
    Illustrator CS4
    Bridge CS4
    Exchange CS4
    Office 2008 (Home and Student)
    iLife '09
    iWork '09
    Aperture 2
    Painter X.1
    SketchBook Pro
    TechTool Deluxe (AppleCare provided)
    Stuff It Expander 2009
    World Book 2009
    I was hoping that there is a setting in preferences or elsewhere that can be set to prevent the constant need to delete this file each time I boot the machine if Dreamweaver has been loaded (this does not happen if Dreamweaver is not loaded prior to reboot).
    Note - I am new to Dreamweaver, but old to Photoshop and Illustrator.
    Thanks in advance for any help offered.

    Randy,
    Thanks for the reply and I apologize for not responding sooner.
    I did in fact close down all programs before shutdown or reboot (have been for quite a few years now). I also performed a search for said file using the basic searchlight function in OS X, but I have not gone to the trouble of running a terminal command to show all files in finder and I suspect this particular file is normally hidden.
    I also looked under 'Preferences/Preview in Browser' and saw that the 'Use temporary files..' was already deselected by default. I tried enabling the option by placing a check mark and then relaunching Dreamweaver and then closing the program, but after reboot the same result with the temp file in Trash. I then tried disabling the option and relaunching Dreamweaver and then closing, but again after reboot the same.
    Of note: I have upon three occasions had an empty 'Entourage' folder in the 'Trash/Recovered Files' folder as well. These were times when I had launched Entourage prior to launching Dreamweaver and then closing both before rebooting. Entourage never displayed this behaviour prior to installing Dreamweaver CS4. Not sure what to make of it.
    I have yet to hear back from Adobe Support where I placed a case three days ago via the Adobe Support page.
    Obviously not a huge deal, but it would seem that this particular piece of software either has a bug or has uncovered a bug in OS X or Office 2008. I tend to lean towards it being Dreamweaver as all my other software never displayed this type of behavior from the first day each was originally installed (all about as old as the original release dates and all patched with the latest updates available).
    Does anyone have an idea what function the '_xx41a7.TMP' file serves? It is always the same name, so I am thinking it serves a specific purpose for Dreamweaver.
    One other item that may or may not be relevant. I ran a test where I left the temp file in the trash and rebooted and then relaunched Dreamweaver, which resulted in Dreamweaver taking at least 30 seconds to fully load (the application frame loaded in the usual 1 - 2 seconds, but the content of all toolbars, panels and welcome screen took the 30 seconds or more to load). I ran the test a second time and the time improved slightly, but still around 25 seconds total.
    After the above testing, I deleted the files (Recovered Files & Recovered Files #1 - both of which had a copy of the same '_xx41a7.TMP' file). This returned the launch time to the usual 5 -7 seconds to load program including welcome screen content.
    BTW - I mistakenly listed 'Exchange CS4' in the software list in opening post, which should be 'Extension Manager CS4' (just for accuracy).

    So, I'm copying the file in a temp. BLOB with this function:
    FUNCTION get_remote_binary_data (p_conn IN OUT NOCOPY UTL_TCP.connection,
    p_file IN VARCHAR2)
    RETURN BLOB IS
    l_conn UTL_TCP.connection;

    l_data BLOB;
    BEGIN

    dur => DBMS_LOB.CALL);
    l_conn := get_passive(p_conn); //get a passive connection
    send_command(p_conn, 'RETR ' || p_file, TRUE); //send Retrieve command to server
    BEGIN
    LOOP
    l_amount := UTL_TCP.read_raw (l_conn, l_buffer, 32767);
    DBMS_LOB.writeappend(l_data, l_amount, l_buffer);
    END LOOP;
    EXCEPTION

    END;
    UTL_TCP.close_connection(l_conn);
    get_reply(p_conn);
    RETURN l_data;
    END;
    Then I'm writing it into a local file:
    PROCEDURE put_local_binary_data (p_data IN BLOB,

    p_file IN VARCHAR2) IS
    l_out_file UTL_FILE.FILE_TYPE;

    l_amount := 32767;
    END IF;
    l_out_file := UTL_FILE.FOPEN(p_dir, p_file, 'w', 32767);
    WHILE l_pos < l_blob_len LOOP
    DBMS_LOB.READ (p_data, l_amount, l_pos, l_buffer);
    UTL_FILE.put_raw(l_out_file, l_buffer, FALSE);
    l_pos := l_pos + l_amount;
    END LOOP;
    UTL_FILE.FCLOSE(l_out_file);
    EXCEPTION

    IF UTL_FILE.IS_OPEN(l_out_file) THEN
    UTL_FILE.FCLOSE(l_out_file);
    END IF;
    RAISE;
    END;
    I've checked the blob before I'we wrote it ito the file (UTL_FILE.put_raw(l_out_file, l_buffer, FALSE)), and it contains no carriage-return.

  • Bug Report: "Save For Web" creates undeletable temp files

    This is an odd one but sometimes (maybe 1 in every 30 times) I am doing a "save for web" from PhotoShop it creates (in addition to the requested *real* file) an undeleteable temp file in the folder where the real file is being saved.
    Here is how one looks:
    This is what I see when I try to delete it:
    Restarting the Finder from Activity Monitor makes this temp file disappear.
    This started happening since I upgraded to an OWC Mercury Extreme hard drive so I suspect it has something to do with how files are deleted from it (but I have no evidence whatsoever to support this. :-) )

  • Scratch Disc Full: Where are the temp files kept?

    Hi,
    I just tried to open a few of very large image files (9GB in total) and when I did I got the message "scratch discs full". Now I understand why that happened, but it seems to have eaten a whole load of disc space that wont come back. I've since closed photoshop, restarted my Mac, etc. but about 10 GB is still used up where it wasn't before. I can't locate any temp files anywhere (prefs only tells me the scratch disc is my Mac HD, not which folders it's in). Can anyone help me with this? Where are Ps temp files usually located on a Mac? I need those 10GB back!
    Mac OSX running Photoshop CS3
    Thank you!

    Hi again Chris (or anyone else who cares to contribute),
    My Mac's HD space continued to disappear and I have now, finally, located the cause (I think). I checked the system log (Stystem Profiler/Software/Logs/system.log) which was itself 4.5 GB in size (too large I think?). However, when I went to the file location (/var/log/system.log) I also noticed that the "asl" folder (in the same folder as the system log) was 20 GB in size!! Having read a few forum posts about similar issues, I took the risk of deleting both the system.log and the majority of files in the asl folder. This seems to have worked a treat (I now have 25GB returned to me).
    As I said in my original post, this all started happening when I opened a few very big Photoshop docs (ones with layers). Do you have any idea what caused / is causing this to happen? I haven't opened Photoshop since deleting the asl files, but new ones still seem to be appearing in the asl folder. They are tiny (100KB at most) but I'm a little concerned I haven't fixed the problem. Any suggestions?
    I can't see why new asl files would be appearing when I haven't even opened Photoshop.
    I'm running on OS 10.5.8
    Many thanks,
    Matt
    P.S. By the way, the size of the system.log seemed to be caused by a repeated message regarding RealPlayer, which I assume is unconnected, but I have included it below just in case (I've removed RealPlayer from my Mac to see if that helps, but the asl files still seem to be appearing):
    Jul 28 18:16:07 localhost RealPlayer Downloader[299]: Failed to create window context device
    Jul 28 18:16:09: --- last message repeated 1 time ---
    Jul 28 18:16:07 localhost RealPlayer Downloader[299]: _initWithWindowNumber: error creating graphics ctxt object for ctxt:0x1152b, window:0xffffffff

  • There is not enough free memory to load the entire file

    I saw an older reference to this error in a previous post which apparently got resolved, but didn't explain precisely how it got resolved:
    Michael Kitzmiller, "There is not enough free memory to load the entire file" #, 27 Jul 2007 5:23 am
    I presume that one answer is to rebuild the document from scratch, changing imported images to referenced images. But I want to recover the file as I put hours of work into it and expected that anything I can save that I also should be able to read back in. I will certainly change to referenced images, but I have to be able to open it first.
    thank you

    Here is a smattering of ideas.
    Do you have ample unused HDD space? If not, defrag it, although in myu experience, this hardly makes a difference. Check your TEMP/TMP folders and clean them out. Consider downloading cCleaner and running it. Do everything you can to make ample room on your HDD and in places like your TEMP folders. If your HDD is congested, temporarily remove big but relatively unimportant applications and move data elsewhere for a while.
    Even with 4GB of RAM, Frame can only use somewhere between 2.7 - 3.2 GB of it under the very best of conditions, and that includes the application as well as the files. Unpacking image files can consume considerably more space than it takes to store them. For example, a 1024 x 768 color image requires more than 3.1MB to describe it as a 32-bit color image, yet when stored in JPEG format, it can be as small as 50kB, a compression of 65:1. Of course, it's not reasonable to assume that your document is comprised entirely of such highly-compressed images, but in the unachievable extreme, it would take 980MB to simultaneously open 15MB worth of those kind of files. The point here is to not fall into the trap of thinking a 15MB file comprising a lot of images needs little more than 15MB of RAM.
    Make sure ALL other applications are closed when trying to open your file...Outlook, IE or FireFox, Anti-Virus and Spyware apps, Word, etc.
    Consider sending a copy of the file to someone else to see if they can open it for you and delete some of the images before resaving it. If you have a backup copy, rename your current file and restore the backup. Maybe your working copy is corrupt. Who knows? Anything is probably worth trying as long as you have a save copy stored somewhere.
