Location server issue

Hi,
We added 2 new location appliances a existing infrastructure as per documentation. However we cannot see the clients on the maps.
Previously all the sties were on one loc appliance but now we have distributed the sites among all 3 appliances.
Noticed that there is a OS are not the same on the appliances 2 are running 4.0.33.0 and the other is 3.1.35.0.
Any help is much appreciated.
cheers,
Janesha

What version is your WLC on and your WCS?
4.0.33.0 is supported on WLC release 5.0.148 and 4.2.x.
3.1.x is supported on WLC release 4.2.61 (or later 4.2.x)

  • Remote Access Management Console - configuration issue with Network Location Server

    2012 Std R2
The remote Access management console operation status shows  all green except for network location server .
Error: There is no response from the network location server URL. DirectAccess connectivity might not work as expected, and DirectAccess clients located inside the corporate network might not be able to reach internal resources.
    Resolution listed as:
    1. Configure the network location server on a server that is highly available to clients on the internal network.
    2. If the network location server is running on the Remote Access server, ensure that IIS is running, and that the URL is available.
The remote access server is located on this server. IIS is running. What URL: show I be looking at?
Any other thoughts so I can get remote access working.
l also am getting a remote access error for IPV6, could this be a cause:

    Hi John,
please follow the steps to reinstall TCP/IP stack.
1.Restart your PC into Safe Mode with Networking.
    2.
Edit your registry. Delete the following keys:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services/Winsock
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services/Winsock2
    3.
Open the nettcpip.inf file in your %winroot%/inf folder
    (%winroot% is usually c:/windows).
Find the [MS_TCPIP.PrimaryInstall] section. Change the Characteristics value from 0xA0 to 0x80.
Open the properties of the network connection you want to fix. In the General tab, click on the Install button. Click on the Have Disk button, and point the location to %winroot%/inf. After that select TCP/IP (not version 6).
    4.
Now you would notice that you can uninstall TCP/IP!
Do that, then restart the PC.
Go back to your network connection, and install TCP/IP again as per the above. After another reboot, you should be up and running.
I also noted that the XP network repair tool may yank out the ISA 2004 firewall client stuff. Just run the firewall clinet repair or install it again to fix that problem after you did your reboot. Before you do this kind of crazy stuff.
    5.
This along with a TCP/IP reset using the netsh command:
    netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt
wish you have a nice thanksgiving too

    Mike

  • Intermitten error - SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified

Problem: I have a 2 WFE & 1 App server in my SharePoint 2013 Enterprise Edition SharePoint farm.  My WFE 2 and App servers connect all the time to the SQL Server using a SQL alias.  My WFE1 server work 80% of the
time.  It is setup exactly like WFE2 except periodically 1 web app/site collection will stop working and throw the following error:
    "A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a
connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify
that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow
remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error
    Locating Server/Instance Specified)"
When I log into WFE1 I can connect to SQL using the alias using a udl file and telnet to verify the SQL alias is connected.
Hypothesis/guess:  It appears like WFE1 periodically looses networking but only for 1 specific site collection.
    Any ideas are most welcome?

    Hi Aries,
I can rule out SQL Server (AOAG) Always-on as the farm doesn't use it.
"max worker threads" is set to 512 with 4CPU's.  Rule out.
From the log and looking at the breakdown of the SharePoint request, the request is hitting the WFE2 server which in turn is trying to connect to the content database.  The connection string/instance is not available.  In summary, I believe the
issue is WFE2 periodically cannot connect to the SQL instance.  At the same time WFE1 is working so we know it isn't the SQL server.  WFE1 & WFE 2 are on the same VLAN and both appear connected and can see the SQL database using a udl file.
WFE2 has other web applications that are working while the erring web site fails.  An IIS reset fixes the issue and restarting the "App pool" for the offending IIS website also fixes the problem.  This tells me the issue
is the IIS process.  When it tries to connect to SQL /the content database it fails.
I already raised the ticket with MS , the engineer has been looking at it with me, we have tried to identify the issue and also looked at TCP Chimney offload being a possible issue.  As my servers is Windows Server 2012, all the servers have the default
"TCP Chimney Offload" setting set to "disabled".  WFE1, WFE2, APP1 and SQL have the same setting so this is not the issue.  At least this has been ruled out.

    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/psssql/archive/2008/10/01/windows-scalable-networking-pack-possible-performance-and-concurrency-impacts-to-sql-server-workloads.aspx
I will keep posting about the problem, hopefully MS support can escalate and the root cause can be determined.
"The bottleneck is on the WFE2 server process trying to communicate with SQL.  SQL is up and listening.  Only 1 of the website/WebApplication on WFE fail for 15-20 minutes while the other websites are fine."

  • Unable to locate server even though wireless is connected.

    Greetings All
I've been having an odd issue with my wrt54G.   My wife and I have 2 laptops wirelessly connected to the router (win xp media certer ver and win xp home ver).
In addition we have 3 win 98 boxes and 1 notebook using xp tablet edition all of which use ethernet.
Periodically both of our notebooks that are wirelessly connected will periodically give an "unable to locate server" message when when using IE6.  I tried Firefox also to attempt to narrow it down and the same problem is present.  Oddly though both notebooks still have our wireless signal connected.  I have proxy and both firewalls (xp and symantec) off on these 2 notebooks.  They connect using wpa-tkip with mac filtration off ssid broadcast off.   Usually we can cold boot our laptops and get reconnected again although sometimes it will happen again almost immediately.  I can't remember if we are able to browse network drives (using our wireless notebooks) when this happens.  None of our ethernet connected pc's have this problem when this is going on.
I have rebooted the cable modem and the wrt54g and this doesn't seem to matter.
My firmware version is v3.03.6, Jan. 6, 2005v3.03.6.
Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to offer.

Okay the problem has resurfaced. When this is happening (no web access, no nntp access) I am still able to ping websites that I am unable to open in IE or Mozilla. Also I am still able to listen on streaming audio during these times of no web access. I am also unable to connect to my router's config page while this is happening.
While web access is being denied I am still able to connect to other pc's on my home network.
I'm beginning to think that there must be some kind of http, https and NNTP traffic during certain times but I cannot find anything obvious in my router's setting via the web tool.
This baffles me. I am inclined to to think it's something other than just http and nntp traffic that's being stopped. The reason I say this is because I have had to reboot again following and initial reboot that restored web access and then denied it again in just a matter minutes.
Maybe my router is croaking out?
    Thanks

  • Network location server Certificate binding fails.

The certificate binding for the network location server has been modified. Without the correct certificate, connectivity for DirectAccess clients located in the internal network will not work as expected.
    1. The certificate binding has been changed by another process or application.
    2. The certificate is not bound to one or more IP addresses on the internal interface.
    1. Ensure the certificate binding has not been modified for the network location server.
    2. If you bind port 62000 with another certificate for use with a different application,  ensure that the network location server is configured to use the same certificate binding as that application.
    3. Ensure that the certificate is bound to all the IP addresses on the internal interface.

    Hi Proactis,
If the certificate of the NLS has been modified, please try to re-issue a new certificate for NLS. Then we can reconfigure the NLS in the DirectAccess wizard.
To re-issue the certificate for NLS, please follow the steps below,
On the network location server, click Start, type mmc, and then press ENTER.
Click File, and then click Add/Remove Snap-in.
    Click Certificates, click Add, select
Computer account, click Next, select Local computer, click
    Finish, and then click OK.
In the console tree of the Certificates snap-in, open Certificates (Local Computer)\Personal\Certificates.
Right-click Certificates, point to All Tasks, and then click
    Request New Certificate.
    Click Next twice.
On the Request Certificates page, click the Web Server certificate template, and then click
More information is required to enroll for this certificate.
On the Subject tab of the Certificate Properties dialog box, in
Subject name, for Type, select Common Name.
In Value, type the fully qualified domain name (FQDN) of the network location server (for example,
    nls.corp.contoso.com), and then click Add.
Click OK, click Enroll, and then click
    Finish.
In the details pane of the Certificates snap-in, verify that a new certificate with the FQDN was enrolled with
    Intended Purposes of Server Authentication.
For detailed information, please refer to the link below,
Install and Configure IIS for a Network Location Server Certificate
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee649252(v=ws.10).aspx
Then we may need to reconfigure the NLS in the DirectAccess wizard, here is the screenshot of my lab server,
Besides, don't forget to update the group policy on DirectAccess server and client.
    Best Regards.

I upgraded to the new version "4" and it will not load any websites..."unable to locate server" is all i get and cannot figure out the problem ....had to delete and go back to an earlier version which i understand is unsafe...what to do?

That was probably caused by your Firewall blocking the newly installed version of Firefox.
No known security issues with Firefox 3.6.17, which was just released this past week.

After the i-cloud server issue yesterday, November 26, 2012, my i-cloud mail account on my Macbook Pro stopped receiving mail.  I changed some mail account settings to fix the issue, and was able to start receiving e-mails.  However, all of my historical e-mails are gone.  How do I retrieve all of my old e-mails from the server?

What settings did you change, what were the changes, have you visited www.icloud.com to see what mail is actually there? and do you have a backup?

  • HP Connected server issues

My printer has been working well *. since I purchased it earlier this year. until about a week ago when I upgraded to the next level Instant Ink plan. Since then when I try to print the display on the printer shows a rotating circle with the word Printing. This remains for around 2 minutes, without printing anything, and then I get a message on the display that tells me that "The printer cannot connect to HP Connected". At the same time I get a pop up on my PC that "warns me" that the printer cannot connect to HP Connected and that this may cause my printer to stop printing. The terrible message concludes with the meaningless "OK" statement, having urged me to follow the printer's on screen display to make the connection.  When I try to follow the instructions on the printer it merely confirms that the printer is connected. I usually cancel out of the setup and then, as if by magic, whatever I tried to print suddenly starts printing.  So, my questions are?
    1) Is this a common or at least know problem?
    2) Is it caused by my having changed Instant Ink plans and if so what has HP done to cause this?
    3) I have not knowingly changed anything on my system other than the HP Instank Ink plan so why does the printer no longer connect to the HP Connected server to update that system with details of my print usage?
    4) Is there a fix/workaround that will prevent me from having to manually coax my printer to work again?
I have already used the HP Updates function and have reset/restarted both the wireless router and my PC.
    * I do occasionally get messages saying that the scan function isn't available because it's lost connectivity but this seems to rectify itself without having to do anything else.

    Hi huydaibang,
The older version SQL Server 2005 could be installed with SQL Server 2008 R2 side-by-side.  It could not be the problem.
The reason that we get this error message is the client stack could not receive SSRP response UDP packet from SQL Browser.
    Here are the steps:
    1) Make sure your server name is correct, e.g., no typo on the name.
    2) Make sure your instance name is correct and there is actually such an instance on your target machine.
    3) Make sure the server machine is reachable, e.g, DNS can be resolve correctly, you are able to ping the server (not always true).
    4) Make sure SQL Browser service is running on the server.
    5) If firewall is enabled on the server, you need to put sqlbrowser.exe and/or UDP port 1434 into exception.

  • Sorry, we are having some temporary server issues. You can work off line if you plan to insert pictures from your computer

We have about 200 users that connect to three terminal servers. On the servers we have Office 2013 installed. Several users are stating that when they attempt to search for templates or insert Online Pictures, they are getting error messages of "Sorry,
we are having some temporary server issues. You can work off line if you plan to insert pictures from your computer"
Remember, they are connecting to a terminal server, all have roaming profiles, and for some users this works fine.
We've Googled the error message and found no help. A lot of responses was to reset the IE settings, which we've tried to no avail.
Also as a test, we took one of the users that was having the issue and deleted their profile. When they logged back on the server, the same problem occurred again.
We're currently at a loss as to why it works for some users and not others?
    Any ideas out there?

You can refer to this link and find the possible solution which is to delete the offending registry key:
    HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Common\Internet\WebServiceCache\AllUsers\office15client.microsoft.com

There is nothing you can do. You misunderstand how this works. Trials only run once and that is that. After you have exhausted your 30 days, there is no way to run a trial a second time on the same machine. You will have to buy the software if you want continue using it.

    Hi,
Would you please elaborate your Lync server environment?
Did the FE server and BE server on different subnets? If so, please try to relocate the SQL server in the same subnet as FE server and then check again.
Please also double check if the step of “Prepare first Standard Edition Server” ran succeed, if not please run again.

I've been searching the internet as well as the Console and Activity Monitor for answers to this scenario, and it looks as though there is some kind of relationship between recent strange sounds I have been hearing over my speakers and server issues (my IP? Apple servers? spyware? )
Immediately below, are some of the log messages I have copied (for terminology examples).
Below them will be the description of the sounds I've been hearing, and potentially related details.
The first of the log examples documents something that happened when no one was home to use the computer. The second describes some kind of process that might be suspicious. The third describes what is happening a lot lately, and it seems to correspond with the sounds I referred to as well as with simultaneous increases in network activity shown on the Activity Monitor

When this first started happening, I was also seeing a lot of "Network Transition Occurred" messages in the log. Now I am seeing mostly "Macintosh mDNSResponder: Couldn't read user-specified Computer Name; using default "Macintosh-000000000000” (or “Macintosh-00112474A206)” instead" messages.
It all started happening after I uninstalled a trial version of ProtectMac (at the end of March), as well as set up a separate log-in for my grandson to use (major changes for the first time in years, which also caused me to lose a lot of things like bookmarks, saved music in iTunes, home movies in camera related software, pictures in iPhoto, etc...). Somewhere along the line I also lost iSync and just left it off.
Are these noises servers trying to communicate with my computer, which I somehow happen to be hearing as transmitted static/feedback/or signaling?
    I have a 1.42 GHz PowerPC G4. I use a DSL, ethernet.
    Thank you.

    Hello,
    Try these DNS numbers.
Try putting these numbers in Network/Advanced/DNS.
Add these numbers to DNS Servers
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
Click OK. These are safer/faster than most ISP's NDS numbers, and have been patched against DNS poisoning.
Go here to test DNS. https://www.dns-oarc.net/oarc/services/dnsentropy

  • Temporary Server Issue

    Hi,
I just installed Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013 on my newly installed Windows 7 Ultimate computer. When I try to sign in a message pops up saying "Sorry, we are having some temporary server issues." I have read other forums and this seems
to be an ongoing issue. I have looked at the Procmon and everything seems to be working. Is there anyway I can fix this problem?
    Thanks.

    Hi
Please verify whether you have installed the following updates: (KB2768349,
    KB2767861, andKB2760624
    Uninstalling these updates may help.
Then, to run an online repair, follow these steps:
    1.Open Control Panel.
    2.Click Programs and Features.
    3.Click Microsoft Office 2013.
4.Click Change, click Online Repair, and then click Repair.
If that doesn’t work, we recommend you to pen up IE.  Choose "Internet Options".  Select the "Advanced" tab.
At the bottom it says, "reset internet explorer settings" . click "Reset".
Check the "Delete personal settings".  Click "Reset"
    Restart your computer.
