Locking of Sound

(sorry if you read this twice, as I was not sure the exact topic to post it under!)
Hello fellow macers!
I have multiple accounts setup on my Apple Macs, and most things work well, though I am struggling to solve one little gripe:
The managed users can turn up or down the volume as much as they want. I would like to stop this function totally as it is disruptive to a classroom environment.
Any ideas? I have used the com.apple.dock.plist file rights before, I had a quick peak for a sound file but no joy. Maybe I looked in the wrong place or there is another method?
Cheers guys.
Rob

If you lose sounds for keyboard clicks, games or other apps, email notifications and other notifications, system sounds may have been muted.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the task bar. Double tap the home button and in the task bar at the bottom, swipe all the way to the right. The speaker icon is all the way to the left. Tap on it and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock rotation can be accessed via the task bar in the same manner as described above.
This support article from Apple explains how the side switch works.

  • How can I modify the lock/unlock sound of my Lumia...

    Hi, I have a Lumia 520.
I want to modify its lock/unlock sound but I can't find the settings for it.
If anyone of you are familiar of an old video game from the 90's called Metal Gear Solid, there's a beep sound in that game that I really like and wanted to replace the default lock/unlock sound in my Lumia 520 with it.
Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!

Welcome to the Microsoft Mobile community, sidmaximus. Such option is not currently available in the Lumia 520 as this tone is part of the phone's default alerts. Though customizing this tone is not currently supported, you can submit it as a feature suggestion at windowsphone.uservoice.com. This website collects feedback and suggestions from WP users to help improve our services and products. We'd appreciate it if you'll voice out your suggestion here.
BTW, welcome to the Microsoft Mobile community!

  • Botón de bloqueo suena / lock button sounds

Es normal que al agitar el IPhone 5 el botón de bloqueo suene, tengo ese problema.
It´s normal to shake the iPhone 5 lock button sounds, I have that problem.

    Saludos.

    Hello, Ayman Refaat.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Here are a couple articles I would recommend going through when experiencing this issue.  Make sure to check the vibrate switch is not engaged as it can cause some application audio, keyboard sounds and ringtones to be mute.

  • P55 GD 80 Lock Up Sound Loop Problem

Hello, I recently built a new i5 GD 80 computer two months ago. From almost day one Ive had problems on the desktop and in games with a hard lock screeching sound loop. • K7N2 Delta ISLR lock-up sound

    Help!
I just got a K7N2 Delta ISLR and installed it in my system. Over the course of a few painful days I've realized that system has a propensity to lock up after I load the sound drivers for the motherboard. If I don't do that the system is completely stable but of course I don't get sound. I get this problem even when I'm only using one hard drive with nothing else in the system.
I've followed liquidsoul's NForce 2 Installation How To guide on www.AMDMB.com's forum but to no avail. Has anyone encountered this problem or know how to fix it?
    Thanks!
    My system specs are:
    K7N2 Delta ISLR (newest bios)
    1400 Athlon
    2*128 DDR 266 (generic)
    Plextor 12X burner
    Pioneer 10X DVD-Rom
    80Gb WD HDD 8Mb
    40Gb Maxtor HDD
    40Gb Maxtor HDD
    Promise Ultra 100
    Windows XP Pro SP1
Logitech Cordless Optical (keyboard & mouse)

    Thanks Deathstalker & scooter787b!
When I set up the PC originally I only had one hdd in it and I did not install the promise card (you have to install them later because I've found I need to flash the bios of the promise cards so that it will be recognized by windows XP) so I guess I did do the KISS principle (I've learnt my lesson the hard way before).
That said I did the installation thing and everything looked fine. However, the lock-ups occur at no particular interval so after 3 hours and nothing wrong I installed most of the other hardware booted it up and it seemed good. But a day later the lock-ups started happening. Even removing the extra hdd and promise (btw I did put the promise card in PCI 3) card did not help (I went all the way back down to one hdd and still got the problems). I went through many reinstallations of Windows XP SP1 as well.
During the process of elimination I even bought a nice OCZ Dual DDR EL Kit but that didn't help. Also, I changed from my 350W enermax to a new 450W enermax. Problem did not stop happening. I know the hard drive I was using is in good condition.
In terms of drivers I tried the ones that came with it, 2.03, 2.45 and the realtek ones.
After 7 days of painful elimination I'm leaning towards the problem being the board.

  • TS3694 After updating to iOS 6.1.2, iPhone 5 got problems which are lock screen, Sounds, syncing iTunes?

After updating to iOS 6.1.2, iPhone 5 can't connect to iTunes. When i am trying to connect, then i can connect. After secods, the phone is not connecting with iTunes again. Then Automatically connect to iTunes again by itself.
My sound works with headphones, the alarm works, ringer works but can not listen to any music/videos without headphones plugged in.
Then lock screen bugs; bypass fumble. When I start to open the iPhone and swiping is heavily to do on the slide to unlock. What's the matter with it?

    firstly thanks for quick reply.
    sorry sir,
i am confused in last line you wrote,
" This will erase the phone but you will be given an option at the end to restore to an existing backup, if you have one."
i did not understand last sentence  -  if i have one? you mean to say if i have data or not in my iphone?
i have many pictures, messages, contacts which are very much important.
so will it be all restore and will be backup again in my iphone if i restore?
i am extremely sorry to interrupt you again.

  • How to change the lock/unlock sound on a iPhone

How do you can the sound of the lock/unlock in an IPhone 4 that hasn't been jail broken and also do not need a computer?

Sorry, the unlock sound can't be changed.

  • How to lock email sounds/alerts

Hi there. Got my first iPhone 5 on launch day...
Is there a way/feature to be able to lock in max alerts /tones out side of ringer volume.
Seems like I somehow get the email sounds/alerts maxed out. But at times they manage to get lower somehow.
    Any guidance?

O.K. thanks. I didn't want it to be obvious that I didn't want anyone snooping. My wife is the only other person that will use this computer. If I make her sign in as a guest, then she'll really wonder what I'm hiding. ....Not that I'm hiding anything.
    Thank you!

  • Why do I no longer have keyboard and lock click sounds?

Sometime in the last few weeks, maybe since 7.1 I can't be sure, I lost my keybaord click and lock sound. They are both turned on in the contol area they just don't work. Any ideas? i have tried powering down. Also, turned off the sounds in the control panel and turning them back on. I have not restored although that might be next. Any ideas would be welcome. It's not serious, just annoying.

I had this problem too and it drove me crazy.  I have iPhone 5s, iOS 7.1.1.   Keyboard clicks and notification alerts (tweets!) went silent about two weeks ago and I could not figure it out.  Missed a lot of calls, notifications, etc.  I tried all that was being posted about settings here on the forum and one poster somewhere mentioned a MUTE button on an iPhone4.  Long story short...come to find out there is a MUTE button on the left side top of my iPhone 5s.  I didn't even know it was there.  Apparently, it can easily be clicked into MUTE mode when sliding into a pocket or a bag depending on the type of cover you have.
Anyway, I flipped that switch and all is back to normal.  Hope the info helps someone.

  • Editing picture locked to sound

I have a dialog track I am using to replace the on-camera sound, since it has better quality.
I dragged it in and its now treated as a sound track. I turned down the audio of the picture sound so I can just hear my new dialog, and I managed to sync with the clapper mark. Now I need to start cutting the picture and have the audio stay in sync. How can this be done? I was able to do this in iMovie HD, it had a feature which allowed you to pin the second audio track to picture and keep them locked in time.

If you do a lot of this, you will be happier using Final Cut Express or Final Cut Pro, since this is really in their strike zone.
iMovie is targeted at consumers who are mostly using consumer camcorders with built-in microphones.
    However, there are some work-arounds:
    1) You could take your clapper-synchronized (but unedited) version of your project. SHARE/EXPORT USING QUICKTIME in Apple Intermediate Codec, to preserve the quality. Reimport this new file as an Event.
    2) You could split up the Audio in GarageBand or another App, and synchronize each piece individually.
    3) For some videos where you need the entire audio track, but want to superimpose alternate videos, photographs, or powerpoint slides periodically as the audio continues, you can use the CUTAWAY feature.

  • Caps lock without sound - Satellite L30

Why can I not get my 'caps lock' to make ANY sound!? I have clicked 'Toggle Keys' and nothing happens. It doesn't matter whether the box is ticked or not ticked. This is a frustrating situation. I have a NEW L30 series laptop with MS Vista home edition.
    Grateful for any assistance.

I really do not understand what is frustrating there. As far as I know there is no standard Windows setting for that. Am I right or you thinking something like this can be enabled in standard Windows settings?
I am pretty sure for this option you need some third part software. Google a little bit around and maybe you will find some adequate application. I use notebooks and Windows OS almost 10 years but I have never heard about this option.

  • How about no ringtone, no sms aleart, no clicks, no locks, no sound

What in the **** is the problem, do I need to return this phone? I just downloaded the recent up date and it did not fix anything. It used to auto adjust the volume but now the volume stays but I get no sound. To top it off it will not vibrate either. The volume lock is not on. Any ideas? Thanks

Can you hear sounds through the earbuds?
Sometimes the iphone can think the earbuds are still in. You can insert and remove them several times in a row and it can solve this - for some people.
Some report a restore can help of this is the case.

  • IPhone 5 lock screen sounds have stopped

The Lock Sounds and Keyboard Clicks have stopped working on my iPhone 5. I've tried going into Settings Sounds and turning off Change with Buttons, Keyboard Clicks and Lock Sounds then turning them back on and that didn't work. Other sounds such as Alarms and Music are still working, it seems that just the Keyboard Clicks and Lock Sounds have stopped. Does anyone know how to fix this?

MY iPhone5 had stopped making clicking sounds and lock sounds and the solution was the ringer switch silent was turned on. The posts at this location were helpful for me to correct the problem.

  • Lock screen sounds muted after Siri use?

    Hey!
I just discovered a weird thing that happens on the lock screen. I tested this on an iPhone 4S, iPod touch 5th gen and iPad 3rd gen, all giving the same results.
    So here's the trick:
    - Wake up device, then hold down home button to activate Siri
    - Tap outside Siri area to close Siri
    - Now, when you unlock your device, even with a passcode, the unlocking sounds won't sound. You can lock and unlock your device about 3-4 times after that and there will still be no sound. After a few goes, the sound suddenly returns.
It's just a little glitch I found. Help? Or tell Apple?

Yeah it does! Maybe you're not on iOS 6.1.3. I've also found it happens if you're typing, say in notes. The keyboard clicks don't sound, but eventually come back.
Are you speaking to Siri? Just activate it and tap out of it (not with home button) without saying anything.
