Log-File to analyze problem with crash/bluescreen
Hi,
im new - not only here also in my current job.
I have got a test-sqz, which crashes after a few rounds. The test has to be finished 330 times, it only works 10...40 times (without errors), then crashes windows and get a bluescreen.
I want to log my sequenz everytime (minimum requirement: after every step) in a file (.txt), so it's possible to look at it after rebooting the pc. The content itself is not important to me, especially i'm interested in the STEP, the error occured.
How could i implement it?
Hi
There are to ways,
1.) Use On-the-Fly Reporting
just see this http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/C9113BE0E55F22EE86256D82005E7DDB?OpenDocument
here last executed step (if reporting is enabled) will be reported.
2.) Override SequenceFilePreStep.
Here you can do some stuff, like extracing the stepname and save to disk BEFORE step is executed.
Regards
Juergen

error -43 when try playback on win7 64bits over the network QT that recide MacPro osx 10.5 however i can play with VLC player, This happend when the QT is inside a Folder with name longer 8 chars other files has no problem with long names just the QT nfs sharing
Never mind, I already found the solution myself.
What I did wrong was:
- not copying the master image to the nbi folder
- selecting the netinstall-restore.dmg image as source to copy to my HD.
The thing is, when you create a netinstall image for 10.5, the image itself is already included in the netinstall image so you don't have to do anything else.
With the 10.4 image however, you also have to copy the master image to the NetBootSP0 directory.
In the *.nbi folder contains an netinstall-restore.dmg file. But that is only to boot you to netrestore, it's not the image itself.
Other alternative is to copy the images to another folder that you share with AFP and adjust the configuration of netrestore like described in this manual:
http://www.shellharbourd.det.nsw.edu.au/pdf/misc/osxrestoringnet.pdf
This manual was also how I figured out that I forgot to copy the image to the NetBootSP0 folder. -
Whicj log file locates the problem?
Everywhere on the Internet it states to check your log file to see what causes any problems (kernel errors, apps unexpectedly quiting, etc.) with the OS. The problem is there are so many log files; which do I need to review to find the problem?
Crash logs are located in ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter and /Library/Logs/CrashReporter. They are best viewed via the Console.app. Launch it, select File->Open Quickly, and navigate to each one. Additionally, review the Console and System logs for other pertinent information, using the Console.app.

Problem with crashing Itunes & Quicktime
So i've been having this crashing problem with both programs for a while now. I've tried reinstalling on multiple occasions, both the new version and the previous.
I even went so far as to do a manual search through my registry and delete itune and quicktime reg keys.
Whats happening is when ever i try running either program, or attempt to view a mov file through a plugin in either, IE, Firefox, or Opera, it crashes each browser respectively.
I have also tried installing the stand-alone quicktime file. Which refuses to uninstall after installing when it doesn't work.
I end up having to delete it and clean up the registry afterwards using ccleaner.
Any ideas? This has been driving me nuts for a while and I hate having to avoid quicktime files like the plague.
Plus i'd really like to use itunes with my ipod again.
ThanksI do not have a solution but wanted to post a note to tell you that I am having the exact same problems, and have had them on more than one PC -- as have many of my friends and relatives! I think the whole "using iTunes on a PC" issue is a red herring for Apple in that there are a LOT of crashes going on out there as people try to install/use iTunes, install/use the iPod the first time, update software, etc. -- and some of these crashes create serious, serious issues, all the way up to corrupting the whole OS -- that no one at Apple seems to be talking about. I personally have had to rebuild two of my PCs from scratch over the past 4 months after various iTunes/iPod-related crashes. One was as recent as three weeks ago, and since I have had the Apple Updater software take over post-rebuild, I am constantly having the issues you speak of.
The only anomaly I am experiencing currently beyond what you've described is that when I try to install the standalone QT -- directly from the Apple download site herein, by the way -- I am told a newer version(???) is already installed (I have never downloaded any Apple software from anywhere but the Apple site) and that I must first uninstall it if I want to install this standalone version -- all odd as this happens even if I've already uninstalled the entire iTunes/QT/iPod trifecta, rebooted my machine, and run a host of registry cleaners!
So you are definitely not alone ... and if I didn't love using the iPod as much as I do, I'd have punted the whole Apple experience long ago (on my PCs, that is).

Viewing Excel Files using Tomcat - Problem with caching
Hi all,
A small part of an application I'm writing has links to Excel files for users to view/download. I'm currently using Tomcat v5 as the web/app server and have some very simple code (an example is shown below) which calls the excel file.
<%@ page contentType = "application/vnd.ms-excel" %>
<%
response.setHeader("Pragma", "no-cache");
response.setHeader("Cache-Control", "no-cache");
response.setDateHeader("Expires", 0);
response.sendRedirect("file1.xls");
%>
This all works except but I'm having one big problem.
The xls file (file1.xls) is updated via a share on the server so each month, the xls file is overwritten with the same name but with different contents. I'm finding that when an update is made to the xls file and the user then attempts to view the new file in the browser they recieve only the old xls file. It's caching the xls file and I don't want it to. How can I fix this so that it automatically gives the user the new updated file.
The only way I've managed to get Tomcat to do this is to delete the work directory and delete the file from my IE temp folder and then restart Tomcat - this is a bit much!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.I'd a problem with caching a few years back, for a servlet request which returned an SVG file.
As a workaround, I ended up putting appending "#" and a timestamp / random number after it. The browser assuming each request was new, and didn't use the cache.
Eg.
http://myserver/returnSVG.do#1234567
where 1234567 is a timestamp / random.
Not sure whether you can do this on a file based URL... but maybe worth a shot...

Calling javascript from swf (which is source file of frame) - problems with OPERA
hey,
right now i have the swf-file as the source file for a frame,
because i want the swf-width depend on the browser-size.
it looks kinda like this:
<frameset cols="10,*,10">
<frame src="border.htm" name="leftFrame">
<frame src="file.swf" name="mainFrame">
<frame src="border.htm" name="rightFrame">
</frameset>
from the swf i call a javascript-code that is located in the
'border.htm'
file.
the javascript simply opens a popup window.
function open_popup() {
MM_openBrWindow('popup.htm','pop','toolbar=no,location=no,status=no,menubar=no,scrollbars =no,resizable=no,width=400,height=500');}everything
works fine ine firefox, ie, netscape (at least in another tab),but
when it comes to the opera browser (and apparently also safari)i
don't get any reaction at all ...i told opera to allow
popup-windows, so that shouldnt be the reason.now i am thinking
maybe some browsers have a problem with callingjavascripts from
within swfs that are not located in that specifichtml-file?maybe
some of you encountered the same problem ...would be grateful for
any advices ...thanx,evahey,

I uninstalled and reinstalled firefox. It still kept crashing. I then disabled a lot of the extensions etc,. Realized it is the smart swipe. They told me it was compatible wtih firefox. It is not. Is there a way to fix this? I really like using smartswipe.
Can you provide your recent Crash IDs here ?? (as described in the following article)
* [[Firefox crashes#w_get-help-fixing-this-crash|Get help fixing this Crash]]
That way we can get your Crash Reports which you can then provide to the SmartSwipe add-on Developers. By doing this, you can help them figure-out the problem with their add-on. -

I am currently running on windows 7, with firefox 13.0.1 and flashplayer 11.3.300.257.
I have a couple of problems which i think are linked.
Firstly, like others i have been having problems with 11.3 crashing when playing video, i did notice that there was a new download 11.3.300.262 of flashplayer for firefox however, despite downloading this and re-booting about 6 times i am still running 11.3.300.257.
Secondly, i have been having problems with downloads and uploads specifically in email (i use bt yahoo on firefox) I cannot "detach" attachments (even though it looks like its happening its not) and am unable to attach docs to emails - im load the flash uploader has stopped working.
From digging around on the internet, I think these problems are caused by the flashplayer version and firefox version im currently using somehow "clashing", and would really like some advice on the best way to get around these issues until mozilla and adobe have sorted things out.
Thank you for any and all advice you can give meUnder system32\Macromed\Flash i have:
Flash64_11_2_202_235.ocx
FlashInstall
FlashUtil64_11_2_202_235_ActiveX.dll
FlashUtil64_11_2_202_235_ActiveX
FlashUtil64_11_3_300_262_Plugin
NPSWF64_11_3_300_262.dll
Under syswow64\Macromed\Flash i have:
Flash32_11_2_202_235.ocx
FlashInstall
flashplayer.xpt
FlashPlayerPlugin_11_3_300_262
FlashPlayerUpdateService
FlashUtil32_11_2_202_235_ActiveX.dll
FlashUtil32_11_2_202_235_ActiveX
FlashUtil32_11_3_300_262_Plugin
install
mms.cfg
NPSWF32_11_3_300_262.dll
Interestingly, i re-booted comp again for the umpteenth time before doing anything this morning, and the adobe site is now saying i am running 262 and not 257 a quick test on my email indicates this is now working properly i do not know yet about the crashing.
Thank you for helping me out, I will come back if i still have problems. -
Error in creating log files in create script with ASM
In our create script we have:
LOGFILE GROUP 1 ('+REDO1/oradata/cssys/redo01a.log') SIZE 100M;
I'm getting the error ORA-00301: error adding log file '+REDO1/oradata/cssys/redo01a.log' - file cannot be created.
ORA-17502: ksfdcre:4 Failed to create file +REDO1/oradata/cssys/redo01a.log
ORA-15173: entry 'oradata' does not exist in directory '/'
The datafile didn't return an error and there we had DATAFILE '+DATA/oradata/cssys/system01.dbf.........
Not sure why the error occurs on the REDO, the DATA and REDO look fine in ASM. Thanks in advance.I have no personal experience with this, but pl see if MOS Doc 604982.1 (Unable To duplicate Database on ASM From one Server To Another Host) is applicable in your case

Reading TDMS files in Matlab - problems with the example code
I want to use the TDMS files to store data and do offline analysis in Matlab, version 2009b (either on Mac OS10.6 or Windows XP).
To test the data import in Matlab I tried the example from http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/0EEADA99DC7D00A4862572E30037C3A2 , but without success.
I tried either with and without the path definition (as explained on the page I referred to before) at the start, and got back the following errors:
with:
??? Error using ==> loadlibrary>deltempfiles at 559
nilibddc_m.i.
Error in ==> loadlibrary at 452
deltempfiles(delfiles);
Error in ==> Read_TDMData at 7loadlibrary([examplePath '\nilibddc'], hfile);
without:
??? Error using ==> loadlibrary>deltempfiles at 559
nilibddc_m.i.
Error in ==> loadlibrary at 452
deltempfiles(delfiles);
Error in ==> Read_TDMData at 36loadlibrary(NI_TDM_DLL_Path,NI_TDM_H_Path);
I found a few messages on the issue, dating from 2006 and 2007, that didn't lead to a satisfying solution and was hoping that, by now, there would be a solution to my problem.
Thanks a lot
Remco
Solved!
Go to Solution.Hi Musk,
Thanks for your answer.
Unfortunately it didn't help as my problem is not discussed there. I have a problem with this line:
loadlibrary(NI_TDM_DLL_Path,NI_TDM_H_Path);
I said before that I was using 2009b, but I was mistaken, I have R2008a, but the 'loadlibrary' is opened in a 2008b editor (no idea why). On the Mac I have 2009b installed.
Thanks

Bad problem with crashes - how to troubleshoot?
Hi,
I'm a new user and I'm having a lot of trouble with Premiere Pro CS6 crashing. It's so bad that I am thinking I might have to go back to FCP7 until I can get it sorted out. Can someone tell me where to begin troubleshooting this problem?
I'm on a MacPro mid 2012, 24 Gb RAM, using ATI Radeon HD 5870.
The OS is OSX Lion 10.7.4
I'm using Premiere Pro 6.0.1
It doesn't seem like I'm doing anything particularly special when the crashes occur. This morning, I just had three crashes in the space of about five minutes. I was looking at the audio waveform of a clip and adding markers so I could shorten the soundbite. It didn't seem to like me adding markers.
Thanks so much.
- C
Update: It now crashes almost every time I add a marker to the audio waveform. Sometimes I get to hit save fast enough, sometimes not. If I look in Console, it says "invalid drawable." Not sure where to begin dealing with this.It's because you have a Mac....Sorry I had to.
I had a similar problem with Premiere CS4, although not to the extent of your situation. The two things that seemed to fix it for me was first to upgrade the RAM (which likely is not your problem) and second to reinstall Premiere. It's a pain, but I think I might have just had a buggy install the first time.
Hope you find a fix! Premiere is an excellent program!

Hi
I am facing one problem when I complie and run my code
with the following compiler and standard C++ library :
OS Used : SunOS GUILIN 5.8 Generic_108528-13 sun4u sparc SUNW,UltraAX-i2
Compiler Used : g++ 3.3.3
Standard Library Used : libstdc++.so.5
Problem : I am supposed to create 1000 file streams,
but when I run my program, it creates only 254 file streams,
after that assertion occurs!!!!
OUTPUT :
========
$ echo $SHELL
/usr/bin/sh
$
$ ulimit -n
50000
$
$ ./a.out
i : 253
errno : 24
Assertion failed: in, file main.cpp, line 28
Abort - core dumped
$
========
MY CODE :
==================================================
#include <sys/errno.h>
#include <assert.h>
#include <fstream>
#include <iostream>
#include <string>
extern int errno;
const int MAX_STREAM = 1000;
using namespace std;
int main(int argc, char* argv[])
ifstream in[MAX_STREAM];
string file("boo");
for ( int i=0; i != MAX_STREAM; i++ )
in[i].open(file.c_str());
if ( errno > 0 ) {
cout << "i : " << i << endl;
cout << "errno : " << errno << endl;
} // end of "if ( errno > 0 ) {"
assert(in[i]);
return 0;
===================================================
But, if I compile the exactly same program with the
following compiler and run the executable under the
same environment as above, it is running without
any problem and 1000 file streams are created
smoothly without any assertion.
OS Used : SunOS GUILIN 5.8 Generic_108528-13 sun4u sparc SUNW,UltraAX-i2
Compiler Used : g++ 2.95.3
Standard Library Used : libstdc++.so.2.10.0
Anybody can help me to overcome this problem with
g++ 3.3.3 compiler and libstdc++.so.5 library.
With Very Best Regards

MediaRing Ltd., SingaporeCVS differentiate text and binary files (they are marked as one or the other by using a CVS option when adding the file). If a file is marked as text, cvs will perform line-end conversion if needed.
On Linux, line endings are coded as LF, whereas on Windows they're coded as CRLF. When you copied files from Windows to Linux, you probably did a binary copy, which left the CRLFs intact. When you checked those files into CVS on the Linux server, Linux CVS did not convert the CRLFs into LFs.
The result of this is that if you check the files out on Linux, they will still contain CRLF (which is wrong for Linux). You may verify this by checking out a file on Linux, then opening it using vi -b. The CRs should show as extra ^M's at the end of each line.
If, on the other hand, you check out the file on Windows, a conversion will take place, where all LFs are converted to CRLF. The result of this is that your file will contain CRCRLF at the end of each line.
The best way to fix this is probably to check everything out on the Linux box, remove every CR from every file, then check everything back in again. -
After sorting the material of my friends on the drive and creating a new user, I realized that the system was unusable with 30 or 40 crashes a day. I am a photoshop user and my friend had installed cs2 and upgraded to cs5. Actually everything was crashing and he had had the problems in Lion and they did not go away in Mountain Lion.
So my sense is the next best step is to uninstall and reinstall the operating system....but I'm entirely new to Mac though I quite good at problem solving on PC. I have been messing around trying to get Mac up for over a week now so am learning quickly but feel uncertain about the steps in installation and don't want to mess things further.
I have found this
https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3351
which seems useful.
I'm backing everything now to a usb drive, I have one copy in timemachine, but I need a clean install so I'm backing things manually as it's not so complicated my being a new user.
I have the original discs of Snow Leopard and a dmg file of Mountain Lion that were installed on this computer.
I hope I can find my friends Adobe id and password.....he does have a list of passwords, how can I check if they are correct.
Do I need to install Snow leopard from the original disks first and then update and then upgrade to Mountain Lion?
He upgraded first to Lion but I can't find that program to install, do I need it to get to Mountain Lion?
I don't have boot disks, does that matter?
What can I do about CS5 in a restore? I don't mind loosing other programs so much as this one.....I haven't seen the upgrades and only have CS2. What happens to all your programs...I guess they are just lost?
I haven't used mail, so I'm not worried about that.
Hope I can get some support with the process, any support will be valued that is at all related. Thank youMerielsea wrote:
I am looking through this material, it's great. I'm wondering though, does command r work in #8 if my original disks where Snow Leopard?
Yes, when the operating system was upgraded to 10.7 then to 10.8, it 10.6 was replaced so those 10.6 disks are only good now for completely erasing the entire drive and reverting the machine back to 10.6
10.7 and 10.8 has a Recovery HD partiton on the boot drive.
https://support.apple.com/kb/HT4718
I have a mountain lion dmg file that was used to upgrade from Lion, would double clicking on this equal the same thing as reinstalling mountain lion over itself?
I wouldn't use this, as Apple is now changing things, so you need to reinstall 10.8 via the Recovery HD
I would prefer to keep CS5 photoshop
Not going to happen, if it's working now good for you. But according to Roaring Apps it's not working for 10.8. and it needs to be upgraded to CS6
If you revert the machine to 10.6 or 10.7, your going to erase CS5 and everything else.
Doing #20 would be a bit beyond me and I don't know another mac user so that I can work from their mac.
Why do you need another Mac users machine?
Print out the instructions.
Here is some more about secure erasing for a new owner
How do I securely delete data from the machine?
Installing OS X 10.8 again
https://support.apple.com/kb/HT4718
Does the reinstall have to go from Snow Leopard which was the base install, to lion then to mountain lion,
No, you erase and install 10.8
When Apple upgrades 10.6 to 10.7 then to 10.8, it's a complete operating system replacement, it's called a upgrade because it's still OS X but leaves all your files and most programs intact, none of the older operating system version remains.
Just like if you would upgrade Vista to Windows 7, or Windows 7 to Windows 7 Pro.
Can I install the mountain lion upgrade over a freshly installed Snow Leopard?
Yes, but it requires erasing the entire drive (including 10.8 Recovery HD) from the 10.6 disks, then installing 10.6, then Software Updating to 10.6.8, then buying 10.8 from the AppStore, then downloading it and installing it, then the machine will be 10.8
Or you can use the Recovery HD and just erase the Macintosh HD parittion then reinstall 10.8 that way for free.
How to reinstall just OS X or erase/install OS X
https://support.apple.com/kb/HT4718
See what is confusing you is there is a hidden Recovery HD partition on the boot drive, it can do all the things like a OS X install disk can do, erase the Macintosh HD partiton (where OS X, programs and files are) and install a new copy of OSX from Apple's servers so it reboots to a brand new machine again (no Cs5 though)
Instead of a boot disk, there is a two bootable partitions on the boot drive, one is Recovery HD and the other is Macintosh HD which boots into OS X.
SO your command r booting the operating system in Recovery HD to erase the other partition and reinstall OS X into from Apple's servers, got it.?
Your going to need your AppleID and password to reinstall OS X 10.8, all part of the new world order.
