Logged in as guest on my macbook air now I cannot get it to start with the option to return with the password to the main user
I wished to let a friend use my macbook air and signed in as the guest option. I am unable to re-enter as the main user as it now starts with the guest page. How do I get it to start on the original page.

I believe that Lion and Mountian Lion use BootCamp 4.0 and earlier versions used 3.0. I don't use BootCamp but from reading The link below you need to get new drivers, burn a cd and install. Check out #20 on this page.

I'm suffering from a reconnection problem which impacts my ability to use mirroring of my Macbook Air display on my iMac display. Both are using Yosemite OS and sharing the same bluetooth peripherals via the iMac. This did not happen much before Yosemite but I get a Reconnecting display about once every 15-20 minutes now when I am accessing my macbook in a session. Connection to the Macbook Air via a Thunderbolt cable also seems a little flaky, may or may not connect. Often improved by opening (waking) up the macbook if no response. Occasionally I get a Failed to Authenticate Macbook Air error which appears to be a hard error, typically after not having been using the laptop for sometime, e.g. overnight!
Yes but there's no point doing it here. As the Terms of Use make quite clear this is a User to User forum. It's Users like you talking to other Users. It's not a channel to communicate with Apple.

I reset my parents macbook because I have battery issues (was not showing a battery present) so i wanted to do a full reset
i did the whole..command prompt.. mount -uw, dir....applesetupdone ... shutdown -h now..
my computer restarted at the registration screen - once i finish it and put in my password it says creating account...then resets.. and i tried it over and over and over and the same thing happens
i dont know what to do?The Mac is already registered when the first admin account was setup. The "faking" has led to a re-registration, and if you use a different Apple Id than one originally used, the Apple servers disallow a brute-force takeover of support profiles which tie Apple Id and machine serial numbers. Please skip registration and continue.

Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.

I have an update so I thought I would share in case any other users are experiencing a similar problem.
I made an appointment with the Genius Bar at the Apple Store.
I went in and they ran a thorough diagnostic check on my Macbook Air and determined that the sensors were indeed faulty - several were providing no information "No reading" instead of providing a temperature. Thus, the Air was unaware of the temperature across multiple components.
Despite the laptop being outside the 12 Month Manufacturer Warranty, the Apple Store determined that it was covered under warranty through Australian Consumer Law - the laptop is now in for a complete repair under warranty at no cost to myself.

I'm signed in to my account on my macbook air's apple store, but when I try to update any apps, it has a locked in apple store user which is not mine. I have no idea where this user came from, but I need to update my apps and get this user off my computer. The users email is locked, it is grey in colour and I can not get it off. I've tried my system settings and the app store, logging in does not change the fact that there is a strange email there. I need help, please! You installed a hacked app, originally from the Mac App Store. It contains the receipt for a different app, downloaded using an account that you don't control. You need to identify and remove the hacked app.
Important: The app you need to remove is not necessarily the one named in the App Store alert. For example, the App Store may prompt you to update "Angry Birds" or "Twitter," but the hacked app may be something else entirely. Don't make any assumptions about which app you're looking for. To find it, you must carry out a systematic search with Spotlight.

A sheet will drop down. In that sheet, select

Now there will be a text box to the right of the menu of search criteria. That's where you enter the raw search query. Click in that box and paste the text you copied earlier by pressing command-V.
The search window will now show all the App Store products that are installed. Compare those search results with the list of your purchases from the App Store. To see the complete list, you may need to unhide hidden purchases. If any apps were download from the App Store using other Apple ID accounts that you control, sign in to the store under each of those ID's and check the purchases.
At least one of the apps in the Spotlight search results is not among your purchases in the App Store. Move each such item to the Trash, after quitting it if it's running. You may be prompted for your administrator password. Empty the Trash.
Quit and relaunch the App Store. Test. -
Should I buy a MacBook Air now?
I am in the market for a new machine. I want to get a MacBook Air, but considering the fact they are due for a refresh, is now a good time to buy one? If the refresh is simple internal upgrades, then I don´t mind. If it is major overhauls like significantly improved battery, or better physical design, I might not be so pleased, as this is a very long term investment. What would you guys do? Is the current Macbook Air, good enough to stand its own on whatever might replace it?
If you need a MacBook Air now, buy it now. If you want to wait because you are afraid of a new generation, do it at your own risk, because it may or may not be launched soon. Nobody knows that.
The actual MacBook Air is a very good computer for home tasks, fast, thin and light. Of course, if you want a computer for professional use with applications like Final Cut Pro, Photoshop..., don't buy the MacBook Air because it's not good enough. Instead, I recommend the 15-inch MacBook Pro -

Ziatron is correct that Flash does not work on an iPad, but it does work on a Mac. See Adobe Flash Player 11.2.202.160.

Were you setting up bootcamp?
Did you blindly install Windows without using bootcamp?
If you set up bootcamp, press and hold the option key when you hear the start up bong until the screen shows both operating systems.You can then select the one that you want. -
I have new MacBook Air. When I first got it, I migrated some of my files from my PC to the MacBook Air without any problems. Now I'm trying to migrate more files, music, etc. and I keep getting the continuous spining circle with "Looking for Other Computers." Use the trackpad to scroll, thats what it was designed for. The scroll bars automatically disappear when not being used and will appear if you scroll up or down using the trackpad.
This is a user-to-user forum and most people will post on here if they have problems. You very rarely get people posting to say there update went smooth. The fact is the vast majority of Mountain Lion users will not be experiencing any major problems with the OS, or maybe with apps which are not compatible, but thats hardly Apple's fault if developers don't update their apps. -

I'm running OS X 10.7.5 on my MacBook Air, but I cannot download Mavericks. I've tried downloading after a safe boot, but the progress bar and the download hung up. Any ideas?
It can be a long download, so keep trying. My first download was at 3 am Cupertino time and took less than an hour. The second took close to three hours one evening.
