Logging Toolkit Configuration

Hi,
          I am trying to configure my connector logging to post debug messages to both WL logs and the console. The ADK documentation mentions adding appenders to the configuration file but does not show any examples.
          I did try adding a ConsoleAppnder as an appender-ref under the root category but I am still unable to see my log messages on the console. Although they do show up in the server log.
          Appreciate your insight and some XML snippet showing how to place an appender withint a category.

  • Apache Sling Logging Writer Configuration

    Hi,
    I'm having an issue where my custom log writer configuration is not being picked up and used by CQ5 sometimes.  I've created a custom error log writer based on the example provided at http://helpx.adobe.com/cq/kb/HowToRotateRequestAndAccessLog.html which I've installed on an author, replicated it to the publishers, and all seemed ok and working correctly.  The settings are:
    Log File: ../logs/error.log
    Number of Log Files: 5
    Log File Threshold: 200MB
    After installing this, the error logs rotated at 200MB resulting in error.log.0, error.log.1 etc as expected.
    However after rebuilds on the machines, this configuration was overwritten (as expected).  So I've installed and replicated the package again, but now the configuration is not taking effect.  I'm using the exact same config package as I was previously, but the logs don't seem to be rotating at all now (not even daily).  I've deleted the config from the Felix console on all authors and publishers, reinstalled on the authors, replicated to the publishers, then restarted the CQ5 service on all machines, but it's still not working.
    So I have a couple of questions about this:
    Is there somewhere else in CQ5 that might be overriding these log writer config settings?
    Is ../logs/error.log correct for the standard log file location?  A note in step 3 of Creating Your Own Loggers and Writers on http://dev.day.com/docs/en/cq/current/deploying/configure_logging.html states:
    Log writer paths are relative to the crx-quickstart/launchpad location.
    Therefore, a log file specified as logs/thelog.log writes to crx-quickstart/launchpad/logs/thelog.log.
    To write to the folder crx-quickstart/logs the path must be prefixed with ../ (as../logs/thelog.log).
    So a log file specified as ../logs/thelog.log writes to crx-quickstart/logs/thelog.log.
         The configs in the log rotation example also use ../logs.  However when looking at the default/standard logging writer config, it uses logs/error.log.  Which one is correct?
    Any help on what's going on here would be appreciated!!
    Thanks,
    K

    Hi,
    I am answering your last question and this one here only.
    1. Log configuration can be override at project via creating config and overriding factory "org.apache.sling.commons.log.LogManager.factory.config-<identifier>" and writer (if required) "org.apache.sling.commons.log.LogManager.factory.writer-<identifier>". So plz check if you have configure log at project level. Now if you are not able to see then plz recheck you log configuration in felix console http://localhost:4502/system/console/slinglog here you can see entire log configuration for CQ system.
    2. both will work but the location will change
         i. CQ 5.5 - log file located under "crx-quickstart" ../logs/<filename>.log will create under this
         ii. CQ 5.4 - logs creates under "crx-quickstart\logs" also under "crx-quickstart\launchpad\logs" so if you select ../logs/ it will go under "crx-quickstart\logs" only but you can change wherever you want to store. Again you can see this configuration info at http://localhost:4502/system/console/slinglog
    3. You can also customize you log via creating at project level and assigning the "identifire" (with all other configure parameters) for more information you can refer http://sling.apache.org/site/logging.html apart from earlier share links.
    I hope above will help you to proceed. Please let me know for more information.
    Thanks,
    Pawan

  • OSB file logging settings configuration

    Dear Experts,
    I need to know if it is possible to log on file all messages of error (i.e $fault variable) during a flow execution without using in the flow neither logs neither report. Is it possible ? If it is, which the correct WLS settings configuration ?

    I can only think of one solution: using the debugging/tracing facilities of OSB. You could enable execution tracing for a particular proxy service, or you could enable debugging of pipelines in the alsbdebug.xml file in your domain's home. For this WLS's log should have a severity level of debug. Of course this would mean you'd have a lot more messages in the log files, not just the errors. I would not recommend this for a production environment.
    Why can't you use the Log action that's specially designed for sending messages to WLS's log file?

  • Logging API configuration trouble

    Here is my Java code:
    private static final String LOGGER_CONFIG_FILE="java.util.logging.config.file";
    private static final String CONFIG_FILE="c:/logging.properties";
    public static synchronized void init() {
    System.setProperty(LOGGER_CONFIG_FILE, CONFIG_FILE);
    try {
    LogManager.getLogManager().readConfiguration();
    } catch (IOException E) {
    System.err.println("Error while reading logging configuration file \""+CONFIG_FILE+"\":"+E);
    Here is my logging.properties:
    handlers=java.util.logging.ConsoleHandler, java.util.logging.FileHandler

    Now here is my trouble:
    when I'm running init() method all is ok !
    when I'm trying to do something like this MyClass.getLogger().severe(msg); then there is an error message in my console:

    But the fact is, that my servere message is actually displayed in console and in my java0.log file :(
    And the second trouble: all FileHanler's output is in XMLFormatter, but in config file there is SimpleFormatter set.

  • Can't log into configuration page

    Hi guys,
    i'm new to this forum and seeking help. I just got a new SPA 122 ATA device and i'm trying to loginto the admin page but i keep getting incorrect user/password message.
    i'm typing admin/admin for pass and user and it's not working. I tried to reset the device via IVR menu pressin 73738# but IVR says invalid commmand. I also tried to reset it with the RESET button at the back of the device, but the password still did not work.
    Can someone please help me
    thanks

    Hi Naf,
    You don't mention if you purchased your new SPA122 from an authorized source or if you purchased it from an auction/resale site. The difference is if it was previously deployed by a service provider or skilled end user, they could have locked down the ATA so that you cannot access it without the correct login credentials.
    Some suggestions:
    Just to eliminate variables, make sure you use Internet Explorer to  access the SPA122. There were issues with using other browsers with  earlier SPA122 firmware in the 1.0.x range of firmware
    Make sure that your computer is attached to the ETHERNET port of the SPA122
    The computer should use DHCP and should have received an IP address of 192.168.15.100 from the SPA122Make sure that you are attempting to log in to http://192.168.15.1 from your connected computer. [admin / admin are the correct credentials for a factory default SPA122]
    If all of the above fail and you're able, use Wireshark to determine what files your SPA122 is looking for. Once you know the file name, you can build a configuration file and set the admin user to something known so you can log in again, provided the SPA122 is not completely locked down by the previous user
    Best of luck,

  • How has access.log file configured in WebLogic server 10.0?

    1.) I am using BEA Weblogic 10.0 and my access.log is not getting updated.
    2.) I also need any information as to how this Webblogic server forms chunks (ex....access00011.log,access00012.log) because i have a software called AWStats which merges all these chunks into 1 single access.log file under its subdirectory.
    3.) I also need information as to how and where the user can specify/ form his own fields which gets displayed in the access.log
    FYI i have 2 servers and i checked under Logging->HTTP->advanced, in both the servers options and configurations are same but in 1 it works fine and access.log is updating but not in the other one.
    Kindly let me know i you have any leads into this issue!
    Thanks,
    Varun

    Hi Ravish,
    Firstly thanks for the reply.
    1.) -----
    What you can do is to set the buffer-size-kb parameter value to "0" in config.xml so that it can start logging once the server starts coming up rather then waiting for the default size which is 8kb to pass.
    Something like below:
    <web-server-log>
    <buffer-size-kb>0</buffer-size-kb>
    <web-server-log>
    For more details check the below link:
    Search for: CR302493
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11035_01/wls100/issues/known_resolved.html
    --- for this issue i had browsed throught the forum before posting but in my conf file i have something like this instead of <buffer-size-kb>0</buffer-size-kb>
    <web-server>
    <web-server-log>
    <number-of-files-limited>false</number-of-files-limited>
    <log-file-format>extended</log-file-format>
    </web-server-log>
    </web-server>
    So how do i go about the path of debugging now??
    2.) -------
    If you do not want rotation of access.log then you can just disable it from the below console path just by putting Rotation type as None
    Server -> <YOUR_SERVER_NAME> -> Logging (tab) -> HTTP (sub-tab) -> Rotation type: None
    ---- for this in both my servers i have the settings like this,
    Rotation type--> By Size
    Rotation File size 5000
    Begin rotation time 00:00
    rotation interval 24
    files to retain 7
    and Log file rotation directory is left blank (to get created in same directory)
    and also Rotate log file on startup is unchecked.
    so??? what do you suggest!?
    3.) ------
    I also need information as to how and where the user can specify/ form his own fields which gets displayed in the access.log
    ---- regarding this, in my main server the access.log is getting updated and after 4.8Mb its creating 5Mb chunks. So, for example if the entire log is of 15 Mb then access.log stops updating at 4.98Mb and accesslog.out0001 and accesslog.out0002 is created with 5Mb each but the latest entry will be stored in accesslog.out0002 file. I hope i didn't complicate this :)

    Hi,
    I haven't tested myself but going to test the following:
    WSUS is bit cranky for now but here is what I did to fix it:
    1) Uninstall SUP role
    2. Uninstall WSUS
    4. Delete SUSDB from SQL Server if any
    5. Restart Server
    6. Install WSUS (Chose to install DB not WID)
    7. Configured Updates to be stored locally
    8. Run Post Deployment Configuration from Server manager
    9. Started WSUS Admin Console and ran Wizard (also chose to connect for the catalog sync) up to the Point where you select the products. Here I canceled the wizard without choosing any products
    10. Install SUP role in SCCM and configure the right Settings (WSUS on Server 2012 Defaults to its own admin Website and ports 8530 and 8531) and select the products you required.
    11. Check following log file if WSUS does not sync with SCCM.
    Path: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Configuration Manager\Logs
    File Name:
    WCM.log
    wsyncmgr.log

  • Incompletion Log for Configurable Material

    Hi,
    The client wants to restrict the creation of sales order whenever a configurable material does not result in a material variant.
    Is it posible to meet this requirement by standard SAP config in Incopletion Procedure or Status Profile?
    Please advice.
    Thanks
    Sinduja

    Make the item category that you are using for the Configurable Material as 'Not relevant for Pricing'
    Then in your Sales order Header Incompletion procedure, add VBAK-NETWR field.
    Now the order has to have a net value which is possible only if you have a material variant that would be relevant for pricing.

  • XMLDB log-level configuration

    I've been searching for a document that will advise what the different log-level settings are that can be put into the xdbconfig.xml but I can't seem to find anything on this. The default level is set to 0 on install. That is what we current have it as. We are being required to make this a log-level of 1 but I don't know the implications of doing this.
    Does anyone know where I can find more information regarding this? We have an Oracle 11.1.0.7 installation on AIX 7.1 -- any help would be appreciated.

    Apparently the IRS does know, once again, more then I do ;-)
    Seriously; The status of 2007 does not have changed for this feature.
    The following is a feature that does work: http://www.liberidu.com/blog/2010/01/17/ora-31098-internal-event-to-turn-on-xdb-tracing
    Also you can enable the listener logging/tracing which will also mention login attempts (and TCP/IP#, FQDN info btw).
    The XFiles demo XMLDB app also shows a method on how to program this feature via XDB events and stuff...
    The needed info, probably, can also retrieved by implementing Database Vault or the Database Firewall software (and yes, security comes at a cost).

  • Log configuration changes to syslog on Nexus 7000?

    I need to be able to log any configuration changes to syslog on our Nexus switches. On IOS this is easy with the archive commands, but I'm a little stuck trying to do this on our Nexus gear. On the IOS gear I run the commands:
    archive
    log config
    logging enable
    logging size 100
    hidekeys
    notify syslog
    How do I do the equivalent on NX-OS?

    Cisco NX-OS can log configuration change events along with the individual changes when AAA command accounting is enabled.
    With command accounting enabled, all CLI commands entered, including configuration commands, are logged to the configured AAA server. Using this information, a forensic trail for configuration change events along with the individual commands entered for those changes can be recorded and reviewed.
    Because of this capability, it is strongly advised that AAA command accounting be enabled and configured.
    Refer to the “TACACS+ Command Accounting” section of this document for more information.
    The Nexus 7000, by default keeps a local accounting log of all the configuration commands entered on the device; you can view this with the 'show accounting log' command.
    In NX-OS, we changed the way logging works.  We keep a local accounting log of all the
    configuration changes ("show accounting log"), but if you want to send those logs to a
    server, it must be done with through a TACACS server.  Please see the below documentation:
    Configuring AAA on Nexus
    TACACS command accounting

  • Can the ACE be configured for logging configuration changes to syslog server ?

    Hi,
    On all our routers, switches and firewalls we've configured syslog so we get logs when configuration changes occur.
    Is this possible on the ACE too ?
    regards,
    Sebastian

    Hi Sebastian,
    Yes it is possible but depends upong the logging level you have set. So logging trap 5 should be able to get you the configuration changes or command execution logs.
    Nov  1 2013 11:20:33 : %ACE-5-111008: User 'admin' executed the 'logging buffered 6' command.
    Nov  1 2013 11:20:48 : %ACE-5-111008: User 'admin' executed the 'no rserver testlog' command.
    So you should see these level 5 logs on syslog if logging trap 5 is configured.
    Let me know if you have any questions.

    Kanwal
