Logic Pro 7 exports broken MIDI files

Hello.
I've started using Logic Pro 7 quite recently and I have a very disappointing problem. After I export a song in midi format from Logic, other software applications report an error or even refuse to open it at all. The worst thing is that Logic itself can't open midi files it creates!
Logic shows the following error message:
"Warning!
This MIDI file contains more than 2000 tracks. Only the first 2000 tracks will be read."
After I press "OK" the next one appears:
"Only format 0 or 1 can be read"
The ability to reload MIDI files is crucial to me, please respond as soon as you can!
Thanks in advance!

Hi- I get the same problem and have posted it recently on the Logic Users Group forum.
No reply as yet.
Can we agree to update each other - and btw I am a veteran Logic user - this has completely stumped me

  • In Logic Pro 9, how many midi controlled software instruments do you get...?

In Logic Pro 9, how many midi controlled software instruments do you get and is there possibility to download more as it says 40 on the programs info on the Mac Store, as i intend to compose on it but with only 40 instruments it's not really worth it.
So i was just wondering whether it let you download more for free.
    Thanks for reading
    ~Matt

Yes: I too am interested in the software instruments available in Logic Pro: one has to be a bit wary of the jam packs because there don't seem to be many solo instruments included. But I looked at the Logic screen in an Apple store the other day, and it worked like GarageBand in
this respect: you created a new track choosing the software instrument option and a whole lot of instruments came
up in a column on the right: lots of solo wind instruments, plenty of keyboards and guitars of course and not very many solo strings, only one violin, in the world music subsection under Irish fiddle. Yehudi Menuhin
where are you when we need you?
What I've been trying to find out is which part of the purchase does this long list of software instruments arrive with, because it's basically the only reason
I'm interested - I get on fine with gb but it
Just hasn't got enough instruments, and as I say the jam packs don't seem
to resolve this ? Or do they? Could someone please help
    me with this?

  • When i try to open my projekt in logic pro x it say audio files not found?

when i try to open up a projekt in logic pro x it say audio files not found why is this heppends?

This error typically means the audio files you used in this project are no longer found in their original location.. (did you move or delete them?) or you have renamed the audio files..... or they were located on an external HD etcand that drive or disk is no longer available.... because its not plugged in.

  • Can't Export Standard MIDI Files in Logic 9.1.1 .... ?!?!

    Hi Everyone,
So I just upgraded to Logic 9.1.1. I was working on a simple MIDI project pre-upgrade in which I exporting all the tracks and data as a standard MIDI file, all fine and dandy. Now today, with upgrade, I have the same project, and whenever I select all the regions and choose File>Export>Selection as MIDI file as I ALWAYS did, Logic creates a file with an extension of ".logic" instead of ".mid" and displays in Finder as "Logic Pro Project" - what the **** is going on? Is it me?
Thanks in advance for any help!!

uh oh, that sounds no good.
What happens if you just manually change the name of the file itself, ie, in the finder, replace the .logic with .mid? Obviously you shouldn't have to do such a thing, but have you tried just to check if it is indeed a real midifile, but that has been saved with the wrong creator ID?
In any case, you should report this possible bug right away at Logic feedback.

  • Logic Pro system overloaded and MIDI clock problems with Intel

    Hi
I'm not a super-powerful-rich music producer. I have owned an iMac G5 1GB of RAM for tree years with a lot of problems with the memory, but i could achieve a quite good knowledge of Logic Pro 7.1.1. The thing is that with my new iMac that has a larger memory i'm not able to playback old songs, and it sounds strabge to me because the Intel iMac would have to work better than the older....I think....(the file i'm talking about has got 5 tracks, 4 freezed and one not: it sounds really strange even if I haven't 5 GB of memory!!!)
Moreover I've had other new problems with MIDI sync but i've never used other MIDI clocks sources even if I use a M-Audio pro 88 keyboard and an audio interface ESI Quatafire 610. I know that i haven't got a great instrumentation in my hands, but this doesn't mean that it doesn't have to work.
Do I need Logic 7.2? Do I need to change my audio interface?
Do I need to set up logic in a way that with iMac G5 hadn't be necessary?
I'm waiting for an answer from someone who's more capable.
    Thank you.

    Do I need Logic 7.2?
absolutely definitely, you need a minimum of logic 7.2. it is the first version that is intel-native. your problems are 100% because the code you are trying to run has to be emulated first in order to be interpreted by the intel chip in your imac. this means that logic will run like a sick dog, until you give it a version that is actually compatible with your machine.

  • Logic pro x export audio to movie

    Hi!
I'm running into problems when exporting a quicktime movie from Logic Pro X with a cue. The weird thing is, on my computer, the exported video plays back properly (outside of logic) with the music, and everything is fine and well – but when I send that file to the director, there is no music in it!! On her computer it only has the films SFX track. I saw other threads about trouble actually getting the audio to export, but I think I'm doing that fine.
    Here's what I've been doing:
Bounce all music together with the film's audio track, so that ALL the audio is on one track.
Click export audio to movie, select the track.
Am I missing something? This is super weird.
I'm using Logic Pro X, on Yosemite 10.10.1
    Thanks in advance!
    Mike

First of all, did you listen back to the QUickTIme file after the bounce? Are you saying that you hear you score and when the director plays "the same" quicklime file" she hears only the SFX? That would be strange, unless she opened the quicktime file and messed around in the properties window.
About the Movie export. You don't have to bounce your music fist. Whatever your state is at the moment in your Project that is what you "Export to video". There is only one  (often overlooked) step. After you click ok in the Save Dialog, there is one extra "Choose tracks to export" window coming up (see screenshot). It shows you the audio track(s) that are embedded in the original quicktime file. LPX 10.1 now has a new checkbook to make it clear:
Check: You include the original audio track with your mix
Unchecked: You don't include the embedded audio track and only your  Logic mix will end up to be the new audio track of the new quicktime file.
    Hope that helps

  • Can somebody please export a MIDI file for me?

  • Can Logic Pro work with soundfont (sf2) files?

Just curious. I have Garageband and the DLS Music Player has no way to change banks or presets for downloaded sf2 files except by sending a "program change" event from a midi controller. Can logic pro do that? I.e., if I load an sf2 file, can it use different banks and presets within that sf2 file, or is it limited to only the very first of each like Garageband?

Oh, I see, you don't have Logic yet - well, what I meant was that, once you've got your sf2 files into the EXS, just have a track for each different sound (open up an EXS24 on each track). If you need to use a lot of tracks, you can use Logic's 'Bounce in Place' feature, which instantly creates an audio file for you from the software instrument region you've created for any particular sound, so you don't need to think about banks of presets or program changes etc..
Logic comes with a vast array of software instruments and presets for them, along with a huge number of loops, if that's your thing - you may well find that good quality sounds that you want are already there and you won't need to use soundfont files anyway. If you've been using Garageband and want to take your work further, Logic is probably the next, well, logical step.

  • Logic Pro 8 exporting problem

Hi there, i have been trying to export a project on Logic pro 8 as audio channels for the past few days without an succession
Basically what happens is, it will export all the channels - but the automation doesnt seem to have exported with it.. example, i would have one channel fading up and down, but when i export all, it is just like it exports it without and automation etc
Also it exports all the muted files and unmutes it, which is also a bit of a hassle
I go to export all as audio files and bounce all the channels.. but i have had no luck so far ..
It would be greatly appreciated if you guys could give me some help on to what i am doing wrong ) Thanks in advance
PS I am using an iMac 2.93ghz with Leopard osx

Hi there thanks for the reply
i read what it said but when i press Export track as audio file - only the Save Format + Bit Depth drop down menus show up - nothing else to tick etc.. Am i doing something wrong? PS I am using logic 8
    Thanks

  • Logic Pro 9 randomly displaces midi information within a region.

Hey guys, hoping for some help here.
I have Logic Pro 9 and have been working with it for about two years now. For the past couple of months a really strange thing has been happening with midi information that is displayed in the region boxes. I do not play a midi instrument therefore I program it all in by hand and from time to time when I loop a region during playback the midi notes are transposed up and down at random intervals. The only solution that I have found has been to copy and paste individual regions, then go in and correct all the displaced notes. This is really time consuming. I have tried searching for a solution but this particular problem doesn't seem to pop up anywhere  .
Has this happened with anyone else? Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this to happen, and if so how can I fix it? Maybe I pressed a button somewhere lol.
    Thanks for listening!

Check either your Chord Track or your Transposition track.

  • Logic pro mix of avid omf files

i am researching if i can do a logic pro (or soundtrack) mix based on avid omf files, then re-import the mix files back into avid...
would using aiff files make this any easier?
    thanks

    Hi,
I did this last year and Logic Pro can import OMF files, but as mentioned this can be hit or miss... OMF is notoriously difficult to deal with between certain platforms and versions. I found that FCP's OMF outputs always opened in Logic without problems but it was hit or miss with AVID's - strange since it's their format!!
I would do a test to see if you have any import problems if you go with this workflow.
I will say that Logic (in it's current version) is not a good program for doing audio post - it's just not in the same league as Pro Tools in terms of simplicity and workflow. I spent a whole year trying to wean myself off of Pro Tools for audio post work, but all I learned from that experience was how much I wanted to back in PT. I really like Logic for music composition - it's better IMHO than PT for this type of work, but is suck for post. You may want to consider a DV toolkit version of PT for this kind of work (DV toolkit has the timecode ruler and OMF tools you will need). It's expensive, but IMHO a much better tool for the job.
As for audio format - use .WAV as it will work with either Mac or PC based AVID systems (PC based AVIDs don't know what an AIFF is). This avoids having to do a separate audio layback and it works like a charm - I never had any sync issues. Hope this helps.

  • How do I completely (!) uninstall "Logic Pro X" with all associated files?

    Hey guys,
I'm a relatively new MAC user.
I'm sitting here since two hours to figure out how I can uninstall "Logic Pro X" and all it's associated files completly?
I found several guides on the internet pointing to different folders which should be deleted.
When I follow those guides all I get are circa four deleted files and 1 GB of free space nothing more.
They are all written for older versions of Logic (mostly 8 and 9)!
So maybe someone here on the official support communities can help me getting rid of it?

    Hi
If you really want to delete all of it:
    Applications: Logic Pro X
Macintosh HD:Lbrary:Audio:Apple Loops:Apple (you may want to keep the GarageBand ones?)
    Macintosh HD:Lbrary:Audio:Impulse Responses
    Macintosh HD:Lbrary:Application Support:Logic
That should get most/all of it

  • Why does Quicktime 7.1 Pro stop playing my .MID files after only 30-40 secs

My MIDI files have the sustain pedal permanently depressed, and after 30 - 40 seconds, Quicktime 7.1 Pro goes silent when replaying them. This does not happen on other computers such as Windows XP using a Soundblaster card. I assume that it is a fault with Quicktime. If I click on pause, then play, then playback resumes for a while and then cuts out again.

More details. Running on Windows, CPU usage climbs steadily to 100% then the music cuts out. CPU usage remains at 100%. Running on a MacBook, CPU usage climbs to 25%, then the music cuts out. CPU usage remains at 25% until the end of the MIDI playback. This problem applies to Quicktime for Macintosh and Quicktime for Windows.

  • Logic Pro and Resolume (OSC/Midi out)

    Hi Everyone
Im looking for a way to get my Logic Pro X to talk with my Resolume Arena 4 on the same computer.
What i need is for LPX to send midi outputs to Resolume Midi inputs.
I have found a lot of tutorials on this for Ableton Live and Resolume but i cant seem to figure out the Midi out on LPX?
Does LPX use OSC? It seems its the prefered input for Resolume?
Is there any other way around this? Could someone point me to where to study up on this it would be helfull!
ps. i am also posting this on the resolume forum to see if they can help.
    Thanks

When I try and record my Korg R3 in Logic Pro I get background noise from the MIDI-Out.
What sort of noise? Soft clicks?
When connecting the R3 via the USB interface to LogicPro I am able to use is as a MIDI controller to play the software instruments. When I then try and record the R3 via Alesis Linelink I get background noise. If I disconnect the Korg/USB the noise goes away.
I thought that this was something to do with the R3 so I connected it to my MacBook Pro/Logic via EMU Xmidi interface that links a USB interface to a MIDI/In/Out. I got the same noise issue when using the EMU until I disconnected the EMU MIDI/Out to the Korg MIDI/In.
I also get the same symptoms when using Garageband. Not sure if this is a USB/MIDI driver issue or config problem
From what you say here it seems the R3 IS the problem. When you disconnect it the noise goes away. And it produces noise in the same way on a different machine with a different MIDI IF - that would rule out driver issues as far as I'm concerned, unless both drivers exhibit the same mistake... very unlikely. I think you need to ground the R3.
Does the recording (via the LineLink) actually contain the noise? Or is it clean?
