Logic X won't locate my EXS24 Samples.

Hey everyone,
I just got an iMac 10.8.5 and got Logic Pro X on it. Before I was using Logic Pro on my Macbook Pro. I took all my projects on my macbook pro and brought it to the iMac via external harddrive. I then dropped all the samples into HD > Library > Application Support > Logic > Sampler Instruments. I then arranged all the samples within the Sampler Instruments folder under a new folder called "samples".
When I opened Logic Pro X, the EXS24 recognized samples, but not all of them. Sessions will be able to locate only some of my samples.
A msg will say from the EXS24 instrument Audio file "name of sample" not found!
Why are some samples found and the others aren't. The sample that it can't locate is in the right spot.
Then I tried System Pref - Spotlight - Privacy - Adding the HD - then taking it away - that never did anything.
I then used Onyx to reindex spotlight. When I restarted the computer I had the same problem. (Now as I type this I went to the search bar and realized my iMac is being indexed)
I'll wait to see if this time it works when I finish, but I'have had no luck at all using the solutions that appear to work for a few others.

PS. Anyone know when a new driver for Axiom 25 is going to ready for 10.8.5?

If you upgrade to Mavericks, it might automagically fix the issue, but then again it might not.
Looking again at your original post:
are you sure that the missing samples are in your filesystem? (I.e., did you look in /Library/Application Support/Logic/etc for those specific files?)
Just out of curiosity, why did you put them in the Sampler Instruments folder? Don't they usually live in the EXS Factory Samples folder? If user samples, I think they would normally go in your user home folder, e.g. ~/Library/Application Support/Logic/EXS User Samples, or whatever you'd want to call it.
If none of those help, try reindexing Spotlight again via Terminal (credit to Christian L on MacProVideo for this step-by-step):
1. Quit Logic and restart your computer... just to be safe!
2. Launch the Terminal (Under Applications > Utilities)
3. Type the following command (exactly) :
sudo mdutil -E /
4. Enter your password... and the rebuild process will begin
5. Go take a (long) walk
6. Come back home
7. Click on Spotlight in the menu bar - Still indexing? Go back to step 5. Done? Go to step 8.
8. Follow this link : http://make-everything-ok.com and press the button (optional, but fun)
9. Launch Logic
10. Keep fingers crossed
11. Try to load an EXS24 instruments

Default location of EXS24 sample files (not Sample Instruments)

I'm trying to copy a few selected EXS24 Sample Instruments (orchestral strings) from one Mac to another.
I know where the Sample Instruments are, but can't find the associated sample files.
Any idea where they are?

You can move them from teh default location to wherever you want.
Drag the iTunes folder from C:\Users\<username>\Music\iTunes\iTunes Music to
C:\Users\<username>\iTunes\iTunes Music.
Hold Shift and laucch iTunes then select *Choose existing library* and select the *iTunes library file* in the iTunes folder.

EXS24 sampler Instrument Editor Help, Logic pro X

When i open the EXS24 sampler in Logic pro X, the instrument edit tab is completely missing and won't open or respond at all. Can anyone offer assistance?

Why do some of my wav sample cd's not import into EXS24 sampler?

I read that you import sounds into the EXS24 sampler by dropping them into the sampler instruments folder located through the library>application support>logic> folders in the finder,anyway I have done this then opened logic created a EXS24 sampler and clicked the field where you load the sounds and I see the folder that I dropped into sampler instruments folder along with the standard factory sounds included with logic I open my samples folder to find a good few missing even though they are wav file which the EXS supports,Also some cds will have multiple files on them like rex aiff acid refill etc and the sampler will bring up the rex files which I cant use instead of the wavs Im really confused any help or solutions please!

For others benefit, here is what happened.
I had installed Logic Studio 9.1 some time ago.......not knowing what all the programs were nor what they did, I created a "Logic Studio" subfolder in my applications folder and put all Logic Studio programs into it so I'd know where they were and could review each at my leisure over time.
My assumption now is that when the updater looks for the Logic Pro program, it looks only in the applications folder. It seems lame that it would not also look in the subfolders of the applications folder, but that apparently IS the way it works. Because my Logic Pro program was located in the "Logic Studio" subfolder, the updater just didn't see it..hence the error message I received when I tried to update.
Solution: I moved all the Logic Studio programs out of the subfolder and now they reside in the applications folder. Ran the 9.1.5 updater and it worked like a charm.

How do I get rid of the EXS24 sample processing when I launch a project?

Whenever I launch a Logic project, I get a "Process" window that loads my EXS24 samples. This can be somewhat lengthy. I am using Logic 8 now, but this happened in Logic 7 as well; although, I don't remember it always being in place. Did I switch on a setting to do this for better performance or something? I really do feel as though I messed with a setting that loaded each EXS sample as opposed to streaming them off of my hard drive? Is this what I did? Can I switch it off? My computer is relatively capable still (G5 dual 2.7 running tiger with 6.5 gigs of RAM), so I should be okay with the streaming, right? thanks! I can't stand the awful processing anymore

lol no, but I am serious about this process thing. I don't remember when, but there was a time when that wouldn't happen, and it was great. Did I switch it on inadvertently?

List of EXS24 sampled instruments

Hi, does anyone know where I can get a list of the EXS24 sampler instruments (more than 1000) for LE 9 ? Also, is the EXS24 GM compatible yet for easy identification and selection of instruments for imported midi files? Thanks.

As far as the Jam Packs go, you can download the manuals from the support area. There are thousands of sounds and loops with Logic Studio. Many are searchable by Spotlight. Just have fun exploring.

Using an external Midi device to trigger an e.g. EXS24 Sampler

Firstly I have only used the EXS24 Sampler as an example with regards to what I would like to trigger - I basically want to find out how I can use an external Midi device to trigger anything other than the crappy sounds that Logic offers as an immediate option - I have some great soft synths like NI's "Massive" "Kore" and plenty of others that I would love to be able to trigger with my external Midi device however I can not figure out how to do this - Can any one help or advise???

I don't understand how you can load the EXS24 and can't figure out how to do same with any softsynth.

Help! EXS24 samples are still missing

hi everyone. i've already posted this problem a few months ago. one day, my exs24 sample just disappeared. i've tried reinstalling but i still cant find the samples. please help me. it will be much appreciated!

Saw this problem for the first time last night. They are probably on your drive. I used spotlight to locate one I needed but stopped there....

Exs24 sample editor

Does anyone know why the samples in the exs24 sample editor sometimes will not play all the way through?
The length of the sample shows it will play completely, but sometimes, it cuts out after the 1st second or so...
The only thing I've found that works, is rebooting Logic....

happens here as well, after four or five seconds stops playing. Not all the time, thats strange. Sometimes no problem, and then again sound going off. Same track, same notes, nothing changed in between just cycling along, and it doesn`t happen with all the regions on that track. I deleted the region that didn`t work, recorded new, still the same. Spooky!

Logic Pro won't open a Logic arrangement created in Logic Pro Educational

Anyone experiencing this unusual problem. I am running a fully registered copy of Logic Pro on my MacBookPro. My client is using Logic Pro Educational copy, which expires in a few weeks from now. I have tried to open his arrangement/song files on my system. My Logic Pro won't even recognise what kind of file it is. Anyone know why this is happening? Very, very annoying when this is my line of work and income. If it's a security issue, then it should be the other way around. He shouldn't be able to open my files, hence me paying £700 for my licience. Any advice from anyone would be most helpful. I know someone will probably say...'well get your client to buy a full copy of Logic Pro' ... But it still won't solve this problem in accessing this work. Sometimes Apple...arghhhh!

Thanks for your response. We actually tried it with another user who uses an educational copy. It worked straight away without any problems on his system. 'Corrupt file' is the error I'm getting though, so you're right there. The only thing I can think of is I'm using a MacBookPro and they are using the older Macs. Could it be a strange Intel problem? Very weird. Would love to get to the bottom of this. I am going to try loading it up on my friend's G5 to see if this is the case.

TS1398 iPhone 3GS 16GB won't locate routers

My iPhone 3GS 16GB, running 6.1.3 won't locate either of my routers unless I'm in the same room as them, and even then the signal varies. My Wife's MacBook Pro, Air and my Mini together with visitor's Apples locate the routers just fine. Anyone got any ideas? I've tried quite a few online suggestions baut all to no avail.

Reboot the router by turning it off for at least 30 seconds. Then turn it back on. Wait until the router indicates a good connection to the Internet then turn on your device.

Still no help, you could have a hardware failure. Make an appointment at an Apple store to have the device examined.

Logic Pro 9 - Please Locate: *******.*** External HD

Hi,
Im a bit new to logic and Im currently working on a song that Im saving in an External Hard drive. The thing is that, everytime I try to open the project, it asks me for the samples that Ive have added to ULTRABEAT.
Is quite weird because Im always using the same computer, and once I shut it down, I turn in on again and open the project, it keeps asking me the same thing.
Isnt there a way that Logic automatically saves a copy of that sample into the "Audio Files" folder and use that route instead of my HD's Folder? Just like ProTools that when I add an audio sample it saves a new copy to the projects folder.
Would be great if someone can help me with that simple feature. I havent been able to discover it.

When you save the project you get an option "Copy Ultrabeat samples to Project folder"
Tick this.
As you have already set this project up you will have to Save As.. to see the option

EXS24 Sampler

Just a quick question, i was wondering how do i add a bunch of samples i have in a folder to the exs24 sample list where it says 'Factory'.

Open EXS - press the edit button - zone editor opens - open the sample folder in your finder - grab all the samples you want to import - drop them into the edit window in EXS - you will be asked which type of mapping you want - done!

EXS24 samples gone

has anyone had this problem? all the samples are gone and i don't know what happened. i'm gonna go through everything again and if i can't find a solution, i'll have to reinstall.

I had the same thing happen to me when I downloaded the new LE8 update (to 8.0.1). I ended up getting no help from this forum and I needed to fix it fast. I ended up doing a complete reinstall from the original startup disks. Man, that BITES!!! Good thing is that I had backed everything up to external drives...however, it took an entire day of installing all the different software again and going through the certification process with every software. I had to reinstall LE7 to get all the original EXS24 samples then install LE8 over that for the upgrade to the new EXS24. Also, make sure to install all the new updates, EXCEPT the LE8 (8.0.1) !!! Why f**k with something that was working fine to begin with? --AK
