Logitech Z-5300e 5.1 Speaker Syst

i bought these at circuit city about 3 months ago, and noticed right away when you turn the bass way up it sounds like **bleep**, so i never did it again. well, today i did it and started thinking about it and i think its the airflow into the sub. i turned it back down to where it sounded fine angain and stuck my hand in the openening at an angle so it wouldnt get as much airflow as it regularly would, and it did it again. is there any way that i can give it more air so it will sound good? btw, just because i said that dont think these are a piece of crap setup, as long as you keep the bass low enough so that it doesnt mess up its a very powerfull system.

I'm moving this to the General area, in case someone wants to reply to it anyway.
This is a Creative forum though, so this board (Speakers) it's not a general forum for speakers but it's for Creative ones specifically.

I have seen discussion about this, but thought I would post my specific problem. I am trying to use a four channel analog speaker system with an?X-Fi XtremeMusic. I plug the two?respecti've analog cables from the speaker system into port and 2 on the sound card. I use the console to set speaker selection to 4/4. and then run the channel test. For me the rear left channel is significantly softer and does not work each of the other channels are fine. I have tried headphones in port 2 on the sound card and get the same result the rear left channel does not work correctly.

• Changing Default speaker syst

When you first install the drivers for an Audigy 2 under win XP it asks you to make a choice of default speaker system.
My question is: I there any way to change that without having to re-install the driver package?
I've looked and I've looked; to no avail.
Please help

I've had the same problem with my 5. card. Whenever I reboot the computer (it's the newest driver I'm using) it changes my speakers back to 2 speakers. Even after standby it does this. I've switched to Linux, but that didn't help much either because it's not supported by Linux yet.
Try using SpeakerGuard

• Fatal1ty + Logitech 5500 + Vista Ultimate: Satellite Speaker Iss

When im in vista just normally or Gaming i cant get the Speaker system to pump out full 5. just center and front left satellites, when in Direct mode. But when i Plug the optical Cable in through the I/O i can achieve full 5.. This made me think it was a problem with the connection to the speaker so i unpluged the direct cords and pluged them into the onboard audio card and i had full surround sound. This got me even more curious so i downloaded the latest drivers and tried it back into the X-fi card same thing only front left and center satelites unless i force it to do stereo x2 then i get all satelites minus front right, and back right. But all Satelites work fine in optical and in direct with the onboard card. Any ideas on a fix or work around?

Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
I'm currently using Pro-Logic Dolby Decoding on my speaker that produced surround sound as oppose to 6-ch direct which would use original sound output from the sound card.
Strangely, it sounded better although I would imagine if all those speakers are working, I would still say the pro-logic dolby surround produced better sound than original sound output from the sound card.
Am I missing something here? should I get an RMA for the sound card? thanks...

I am connect my SB and GD580 Speaker with coaxial cable
Speaker settings (5. Speakers +"Digital output only")
But "speaker Test" gives only 2 frontal speakers.
Why do not work rest 3 ?

freeman7,
It's normal if you're using Digital connection. The audio test file from the software is not an AC3 signal. You can find the explaination in this Knowledgebase article SID576.

• Audigy 4 Pro and Logitech z-5500 5.1 speak

Hey ppl
I'm thinking of getting those two. I've heard there is an incompatibility issue with a digital connection between them, buts as I'm not interested in a digital connection, will an analog connection? I suppose the PCI or the hub has the required outputs ( left front/back, right front/back ? center/sub) for 5. analog.

• Very Little Sound in Side/Rear Speakers (7.1 speaker syst

I have WIN XP 32 bit, the Audigy 2 ZS soundcard, Creative 7700 7. 7 piece speakers and the Creative sofrware installed. I can hear sound in the side/rear speakers but it is quite faint and I can't see how to turn up the volume. Any help would be great. Jerry.

SnIpErMiKe,
The Inspire 7700 should have come with the 7.1 cable. Have the package content again.
If you still do have it, it's best to contact support and see if they have this available.

• Connecting Soundblaster Audigy 2 to 2 speaker syste

Hi all,
I am using a Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS. My PC is connected to a 7. Creative THX system.
That is working pretty fine.
I also have my LCD TV connected to my PC as secondary display and I've got a Teufel 5. system which I want to connect to the audigy.
Reason: I want to watch movies played on my PC on my normal television. I could of course connect the audigy to the Teufel system, BUT this would mean switching cables all the time (from PC 7. to TV 5.).
Is there some kind of high quality switch with which I could save this reconnecting of cables all the time?
Thanks a lot in advance.
and kind regards
Sven

Hello all,
I am having a similar issue. I would like to connect my Audigy 2ZS to a Sony Reciever (STR DE-898) preferably via the digital out. The sound card and reciever are 25 feet apart.
I have read that the digital out on the Audigy 2ZS is specifically for creative lab speakers, and that if you connect it to a normal reciever that it may damage the reciever is this true?
Second, the other option that I have is to buy the 7. adaptor and connect RCA extension cables to the reciever.
The last option is to connect it to the regular headphone jack out, and use an extension cable to connect to the reciever (This is what I am currently using), but the sound quality is terrible.
Please help, I read the recent post on digital out ,which helped some, but still the question remains... if you connect the digital out on the Audigy 2ZS to a Sony receiver will this damage the receiver?Message Edited by asharabi98 on 05-27-2006 0:38 AMMessage Edited by asharabi98 on 05-27-2006 0:39 AM

• Audigy 2 Value left channel stopped working *complete

Sony Vaio pcv-rs530
P4 3.2 Ghz
Gb Ram
All-In-Wonder ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 28mb
Windows XP Home Edition v02' Service Pack 2
Logitech Z-5300e 5. Speaker system
I've had my audigy 2 value for about two months now. I managed to install it after a huge adventure of wiping my c: dri've after my first failed installation which ended me with no sound and no hope of restoring it back to normal, except the wipe, of course. It worked for a while, two months, but then I was having issues with my video card, possibly due to overheating because my audigy 2 value was one empty slot away from it and the circulation of air was not enough to keep it cool.
I stopped getting video related crashes after I put my sound card to the last slot, effecti'vely taking out my fax/modem, which I never used in the first place, in order to put the audigy 2 in the last slot, farthest away from my ATI AIW Radeon 9800 Pro. That little modem was blocking the last slot, making it impossible to put my sound card there. Then I noticed a few days later that my front left speaker was not working. I switched the speakers around, and everything worked except for the speaker plugged into the green line ouput, more specifically, the left front speaker never worked.
I'm currently using Logitech's z-5300e 5. speakers system, and they worked fine up until recently where the front left channel will not work. I tested it out on my xbox, and the speakers work fine. Both left and right speakers were okay. I took out my old desktop speakers that came with my vaio and plugged it into the green line output, and even then the left speaker didn't work. The same thing happened when I plugged my headphones in. The left earphone never worked. Both the old and new speakers and the headphones work properly otherwise (when not plugged into the audigy 2). I'm thinking my line output left channel has stopped working on the sound card itself.
I noticed that if I pushed the speaker plug into the outlet halfway, the front left speaker worked, but when I tested the calibration -- the voice matching said "front right" through the front left speaker. Even with all the speakers connected in any configuration, there was never a mention of a "front left" speaker. I concluded that the front left channel on the audigy 2 has stopped working.
Is this assumption correct? If so, wow. How would I go about fixing this? Does it have something to do with the slot switching? I reinstalled the drivers and programs for the audigy 2 after I switched. Although it did not seem to have a problem with me switching the slots even when I didn't uninstall anything. It detected the hardware switch, and everything worked fine. Should I try switching back to the other slot and hope my video card doesn't become one with my motherboard? The warranty has expired on my audigy 2 value, and I don't think I'll be compensated if I have no warranty, correct? All the drivers are updated, and it has worked before.
I've heard of other people's audigy 2 values that have had other channels just fizzle out in a few months. Am I one of them? Any information would be really helpful! Thanks.Message Edited by Paulie on 05-2-2005 06:30 AM

If you're sure noone was funny and turned down the left channel in advanced tab of Surround Mixer for instance, perhaps the connector loosened on the board or the soldering went bad; since your warranty expired (check with the store first!) I'd have someone who knows his way with electronics and soldering irons have a look at it.
PS I have the Audigy 2 Value as well; so far it works good but had I known it was treated like the ugly little kid in the Creative family that noone really likes to deal with i'd have gotten the ZS.Message Edited by Marco on 05-2-2005 0:2 PM

• Logitech speaker S715i won't recharge my "ipad mini" using the lightning to 30-pin Adapter. Has anyone solved this problem?

Everytime I connect my mini to the Logitech S715i or Logitech Pure-Fi Express Plus speaker a pop-up appears telling me the iPad doesn't recognize the device and the battery symbol shows that it isn't loading. I am using the lightning to 30-pin Adapter.
Is there a way to correct this so my speaker will act as a dock and load the iPad?
Would love the help if you have the know how. Thanks!

Since the last update I have noticed the percentage of battery power does increase when my iPad mini has been docked although the actually staus reported on the iPad screen while docked is 'not charging'. This is obviously an Apple recognization problem (not sure about third party as Apple is providing the software).
Will not return my Logitech as it has excellent sound (speakers are higher watt then others in this price range), plus it has a built in battery which means I can take it on the terrace for tea in the afternoon.
As pointed out it requires more power then the iPhone, it does take longer to charge, so in the future if I need a quicker charge I'll do it via a wall outlet.
side note: This problem must also be why my iMac is shutting down all other USB devices when the iPad is plugged in.

• Conflicting Channel Assignments -- Xtreme Gamer X-Fi and Logitech Z-5300 Speak

I do know there is a similar post here about the Z-5500 series of speakers, and I do understand they are in the same family, but my problem is neither fixable with the suggestions in the post, nor is it the same as those people have posted. Thus I have deemed mine unique.
My current rig:
Intel Quad Core Extreme 2.6ghz
Asus Striker Extreme nForce motherboard
4GB Mushkin DDR RAM
500 GB Hard Dri've
Creative Labs Soundblaster X-Fi Extreme Gamer
2x EVGA GeForce 8800 Ultra
Windows Vista 64-bit
Logitech Z-5300 5. Speaker System
So I had some problems initially getting surround sound to work on this computer (but nothing like what I am experiencing now), but finally after a day of messing around and tweaking I had awesome, crisp sound for about a month now. All 5 speakers and the sub in this system were performing correctly. All of a sudden today, I changed NOTHING, I was actually in the middle of listening to music and the sound started cutting in and out on certain speakers.
I rebooted, still had the same issue. I decided to check the connectivity of every speaker and the stereo mini-plugs that link the speaker system to the sound card. Everything checked out, I ran the diagnostics agent and the THX console and the channel test worked fine. I put music back on and the same thing happened, in frustration I checked the wires. I grabbed the wires which connect computer to speakers (subwoofer) and jiggling the wires made the sound cut in and out on 2 speakers (but not 2 speakers which share the same channel, it was the RL and FL.) Thinking that I had crunched a wire I swapped them with 3 other mini-plugs...same thing happened. I then ran the diagnostic/speaker assignment agent several times, getting completely and utterly nonsensical output. Subwoofer noises coming from the RR, no center channel at all ever etc. The bizarre assignments actually kept changing themselves too.
From here on I entered a six-hour flurry of frustrating trials. I did the common-sense stuff, checked connections (because I do have some speakers extended with a coupling and RCA cable), powered system and speakers down several times. Finally I deemed it may be a Vista/software issue (since Vista thought that just for sillies the other day it would randomly uninstall one of my video cards, I thought I could be having similar issues) I uninstalled/reinstalled the latest X-fi drivers and all the components. Still the issue persisted, any time I ran a channel test the speaker assignments were totally wrong, with no way to correct them.
I then resigned myself to the fact it must be a hardware issue, maybe I had knocked my sound card out slightly, or maybe the it was just too hot (its placement in my case is rather poor, the only place it fits is between the two monstrous GeForce 8800s which are just heatbricks.) I powered down my case, let things cool off, popped the card out and back in. Did another driver reinstall...same issues...just different channels scrambled.
For the last hour now the results of THX speaker tests in the audio console have at least been consistent (before it was just random scrambling) now I get the FL, no center sound, front right, rear right comes from the subwoofer, no rear left, no subwoofer. I have no explanation for any of this. I had no issues until today, and I gotta say this one ambushed me. I have never experienced anything more random or stubborn.
Any thoughts and suggestions would be much appreciated, as much as spending even more money on this hobby pains me, I am very close to attempting to purchase new speakers just to give me some peace of mind.

There was aWindows update with some sound drivers recently, that may explain why this happened unexpectedly recently. Try rolling back your drivers. Question, you mention Vista and XP64, which do you have?I can't get 5. under XP64 with 4gig of RAM, if you had yours working under XP64 can I get a copy of your old driver?

• Does anyone know how to access the sound software on a Mid 2010 Mac Pro? I have a Logitech Z906 5.1 surround system with fiber optic in and out, I only seem to be able to get stereo and simulated 5.1 sound .

A mid 2010 Mac Pro, trying to get 5.1 surround out of the onboard sound software using fiber optic out connected to a Logitech Z906 5.1 speaker sys. with fiber optic in and out, all I get is stereo and simulated 5.1 sound out of the speakers. In utilities, Audio Midi Setup I can't get the Mac to see the Logitech speakers for 5.1 speaker configuration. Without being made to feel like a dummy, does anyone have a solution? Thanks, Carl

Hello John, I figured it was a signal issue. All the speakers fire and the sound is great. I was running the speakers thru a Dell PC with a Creative X-Fi Elite Pro, THX Certified, 7.1 soundcard using a fiber optic from the Mac Pro to the Z906's, it worked great until the Dell died!!! When I bought the soundcard from Creative I also bought the GigaWorks S750, THX Certified, 700 watt, 7.1 speaker system, used the speakers for 11 years and then the woofer/amp said "I QUIT" Creative quit making the speaker system and the sound card. The satellite speakers from the Creative GigaWorks speaker system still sound great (rated at 78 watt each) and are a little better speaker than the one's that came with the Z906 and the wattage from the 906 is sufficient to drive the satellites without any distortion. Thank you for addressing my issue, you confirmed what I suspected all along, just needed to hear it from someone with the same setup.
One last question, I purchased a Diamond Multimedia USB Soundcard, can't use the fiber optic(not supported by Mac) but the green, tan and black RCA's plug in and produces adequetly. When you plug your 906's into the Mac Pro using the fiber optic how do you set your speaker configuration? When I plug into the mac pro with fiber optic the 'Audio Midi Setup' does not seem to see the 5.1 configuration. Any thoughts there?

• Cant hear from rear speak

I have installed my new Audigy 2 ZS hardware and software in concordance with my logitech z-5300e 5. surround sound speakers. For some reason, i cant hear from the rear speakers.. but not like nothing. I go into the EAX console and i play the song from there and i can hear music out of the back speakers for sure, but then i load counterstrike and do the surround sound test and i hear nothing from the speakers, i load musicmatch and i can hear from the rear speakers. THe reason i bought the surround sound was for FPS game improvement... can anyone help me out, why is it not playing when i want it to?

Under games, it doesn't matter. As long as your game supports DirectSound3D or OpenAL, it will support any number of speakers, according to your soundcards configuration.
To test functionality under DirectSound3D, I suggest using Rightmark 3DSound test
The positiong is very clear as long as you select Hardware Acceleration. Also some games need you to select output configuration, although this is against Microsoft's suggestions.
