Logout times in Oracle 11i

My apologies if this is not the correct forum for this question.
Our Oracle application currently logs users out of the system after 15 minutes of inactivity.
Can this be increased?
Where is this done?
Can this be accomplished for a group of users or is it set globally?
Thank you for any information you can provide

HI,
You can do this with the profile--> system set in different levels. look at ICX%Timeout% (Minutes) and JTF%Inactive%.
Other hand you have to set these values globally in formservlet.properties and zone.properties timeout in Milliseconds.
Thanks

your problem is not very unusual... I also faced the similar situation cpl of times when Oracle was not able to continue the installation coz the Immediate Shutdown was failed. Actually During the installation, Oracle mounts/opens the database and shuts it down many times and few times, Oracle is unable to shutdown cleanly as some process is hanging or not responding.
Piece of advise is that always use staging area to install Apps as it takes long time on Win2K (anything between 4-12 hrs) to install it and CDROM Access is lot slower than HDD. Also, it will prompt u every time to insert tbe CD. All this hassle can be bypassed by using the staging area. Read the Installation help document on how to create it.
For failure reasons, look in ur installation log file which is created in the default Temp folder usually C:\documents and settings\USERNAME\local settings\temp for WinXP or C:\winnt\documents and settings\USERNAME\local settings\temp for Win2K.
post or email me at [email protected] or [email protected] for further help/details.

Thanks to previous responder for tip regarding JDK/JRE anchor strings. I'm not sure if that is a problem. After letting the install process (java.exe) run for over an hour, I finally got past the InstantiateFile step. It looks like the process just takes a long time with no visible progress sometimes. After 5-6 hrs, it looked like the install succeeded (for the most part). There were still some errors in the error logs related to the Concurrent Manager (TNS-12541: TNS:no listener) I believe. If anyone has insight on what this error msg means, I would greatly appreciate a reply.
The other problem I am tackling right now is how to explicitly set the Forms processing mode to HTTP rather than the default socket mode. According to the 11i docs (and Forms Developer 6i docs), you should only have to set "connectMode=HTTP" in the config file, appsweb.cfg, to make this happen. However, when I try bringing up a client form, the form hangs. So, obviously, something is amiss. A related question is whether one can run Forms in only HTTP mode and not HTTPS (and thus avoid having to install SSL). I would greatly appreciate any insight from fellow users.

  • Log out function in Oracle 11i

We are using Oracle 11i and are being logged out of the system within 15 minutes of non-use.
Can the log out feature be set for individual security levels/groups?
Can the log out time limit be set individually?
I am quite new to the Oracle family and hope to become a long time user.

This is totally the wrong forum for this kind of question, but I'm fairly certain the timeout can be changed via a profile option. You have to sign on as SYSADMIN (or someone with sysadmin responsibility) to change it. I'm not sure if it can be set at different levels though.
There is an Oracle Apps forum around here somewhere.

Quick Fix. Learn 3 modules max (May be GL/AR/AP). Learn the ins and outs of those 3, so that you can answer
almost all questions in those 3 in an interview. Most Important --> Write in your resume that you have been
working in Oracle Applications for last 3 years. Thats the only way you can get into this apps world.

  • Oracle 11i E-Business Suite Installation on Windows fails

All you Oracle 11i gurus out there, please HELP as I am at my wit's end.
I am trying to install Oracle 11i E-Business Suite (downloaded from the edelivery Website) on Windows 2003 Server with dual PIII CPU, 1GB RAM, and 150GB+ disk space.
My Oracle 11i install on Windows has been failing during Step 1 of 5 following the process of unpacking the 114 zipfiles for the 9.2.0 database even though all the diagnostic steps passed.
It appears the install is failing on the following step:
    InstantiateFile -d d:\oracle\visdb\9.2.0\appsutil\driver\instconf.drv
I have MKS Toolkit installed on C:\MKS and VC++ installed on C:\MVS\VC98.
I have renamed make.exe to gnumake.exe in the C:\MKS\mksnt folder and copied the linker (link.exe) from C:\MVS\VC98\bin to the C:\Windows\System32 folder.
The InstantiateFile step is executing some Java classes. I have also installed the JRE on C:\jre1.5.0_06, although it's doubtful this will impact the install scripts since the scripts are all hardcoded with the included JRE 1.4.2.
Why do Oracle DBAs and users deal with this crap? A software install should not be this difficult.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Oracle 11i Functional Financial Apps Certification

    Hello All,
Can you please guide me to the path of getting "Oracle 11i Functional Financial Apps" certified? I wish to move into this field. Following is my background -
Qualifications - BCA (regular); MBA - Finance (regular).
Work Experience - 1 yr as a Financial Research Analyst with a fortune 500 co.
    Please post your valuable suggestions.
    Regards,
    Manish (Delhi - India)

    Hi Manish,
There are two certifications available for “Oracle 11i Financials Consultant”:
    1) Oracle 11i Financials Consultant, Payables
    2) Oracle 11i Financials Consultant. Receivables
The two certifications have two common exams:
    - Oracle E-Business Fundamentals 1Z0-200
    - Oracle General Ledger 11i Fundamentals 1Z0-211
After that, you have to submit the “Hands on Course Requirement From” and set for one (or both) of the following exams:
    - Oracle Payables 11i Fundamentals 1Z0-212 --> You will become “Oracle 11i Financials Consultant, Payables” certified.
    - Oracle Receivables 11i Fundamentals 1Z0-213 --> You will become “Oracle 11i Financials Certified Professional Consultant, Receivables” certified.
There is no standard answer for how long it takes to prepare for the exams, having hands on experience would be really helpful in clearing those exams in a short time frame. For the demand, it all differs from employer to employer; some employers prefer having hands-on-experience while others prefer to see certification logo(s) on your Resume before considering you for the job.
If I were you, I would start having my own 11i instance, and with the help of Oracle E-Business Suite documentation I would start my first functional setup. Oracle provides Vision demo database which comes with seeded data, it should be helpful in understanding how the setup goes.
Below is couple of links I would recommend as a start:
Oracle Applications 11i (11.5.10.2+ virtual) Documentation Library
    http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B25516_14/current/html/docset.html

Oracle Workflow is a de-supported product (except in EBS ) - so Oracle Education will not offer any training in this area. You will have to look for other private firms that can offer such training.

  • Correlate login and logout times in a table

I have a table LOGINDATA with three columns: USERID, TYPE, and TIMESTAMP.
USERID stores a unique integer that represents someone who uses the system.
    TYPE is either 1 or 2. 1 represents a login. 2 represents a logout.
TIMESTAMP is a value that comes from System.currentTimeMillis. It represents the current time in milliseconds since January 1, 1970 (I believe that's the right date).
I'm trying to create a query to link each login time with its corresponding logout time, so that my resultset has three columns:
    USERID, LOGINTIME, LOGOUTTIME.
I assume this would involve joining the table to itself, but creating a query to find the closest login and logout times is tricky.
    What I have now is:
    select li.userid, li.logintime, lo.logouttime from
(select userid, timestamp logintime from logindata where type = 1) li,
(select userid, timestamp logouttime from logindata where type = 2) lo
    where li.userid=lo.userid
and li.userid=999999 is the userid of one user.
This will actually end up being more complicated with missing logout times, but this is a start.

The data design makes this a very very very messy (and probably slow) query. Fundamentally, I consider designs like this to be broken because they're so hard to get relevant information out of the raw data; in some cases impossible (see comments below).
The following query works on Oracle database (where TIMESTAMP is a reserved word, so I used EVENTTIME instead) - I tested it with a few rows of data:
    select li.userid, li.logintime, min(possible_logout) logouttime
from (select userid || to_char(eventtime, 'yyyymmddhh24miss') session_id, userid, eventtime logintime
from logindata where type = 1) li,
       (select li.userid || to_char(logintime, 'yyyymmddhh24miss') session_id, li.userid, logintime, logouttime possible_logout
from (select userid, eventtime logintime from logindata where type = 1) li,
(select userid, eventtime logouttime from logindata where type = 2) lo
        where logintime < logouttime
          and li.userid = lo.userid(+) ) pl
    where li.session_id = pl.session_id (+)
    group by li.userid, li.logintime
order by li.logintime;Note that this will return the wrong result if for a particular user_id, you have overlapping logins, like:
    time a - login session 1
    time b - login session 2
    time c - logout session 1 or 2
    time d - logout session 2 or session 1
there is simply no way to tell which logout goes with which login and the query will report that both sessions ended at time c, which is absolutely unacceptable if this is to be a security audit trail... The only way to deal with this is to guarantee at the application layer that no user can be logged in twice.
Note also that it breaks by returning extra rows if a user somehow manages to log in twice or more at the same moment, whatever the granularity of your TIMESTAMP is... This is because of the join on the generated SESSION_ID; if you get 2 or more of them the same, you get a cartesian product (2 IDs, 4 rows; 5 IDs, 25 rows, etc...)
It would obviously be a lot cleaner if you stored some sort of unique session_id in your table. Note that the session_ids used for session tracking in J2EE web servers get recycled over time and are therefore unsuitable (by themselves) as unique session ids. And if you store a session id, then you can fix your broken data model and avoid all this mess in the first place by making your table have the columns:
    USER_ID, SESSION_ID, LOGIN_TIME, LOGOUT_TIME
Insert on login, update on logout...

  • Oracle 11i manufacturing -OPM  setup documents

    hi ,
    all,
iam a new bee to oracle 11i apps and currently i have the userguides and also i did search in the metalink for the setup docs , but it has the release notes , user guides, i appreciate if some one could help me out by e-maling the setup docs for the oracle OPM , my e-mail id : [email protected]
    thanks for your help
    chris jay

    HI
In OPM consists of Several Modules viz., OPM Sys Admin/OPM Inventory/Product Development/Production Management/OPM Quality/OPM Costing and MAC
If you want all these modules set ups, I would suggest that if go to metalink and download Documentation for 11.5.10 which is very useful and which gives modules wise all basic set ups and cross modules set ups.
Once you read this....I would be sending you the real time project set up documents so that you can understand better. But initially the better way is use the PDF after downloading.
    Thanks

  • Oracle 11i Login

I lost the login information for Oracle 11i Application. Would anybody tell me how to ovecome this issue. The application is on windows 2000 and running fine. Does the application have a guest id and password. Ideally, I would like to retrieve my admin id and password. Thanks.

    Hi Timi,
Not familiar with 11i on W2K, but on Unix I can use
the executable FNDCPASS to (re)set passwords.
Take a look below, and see if you can »translate« it to something usefull on W2K.
Also check MetaLink or documentation, because FNDCPASS
can do it's magic on ordinary users, schema-owners, etc. (given the rigth token)
    v_APPS_pwd='xxxx'
    v_SYSTEM_pwd='yyyyyyy'
    v_FND_USER_NAME='timi'
    v_NEW_pwd='cocacola'
    ${FND_TOP}/bin/FNDCPASS apps/${v_APPS_pwd} 0 Y system/${v_SYSTEM_pwd} USER ${v_FND_USER_NAME} ${v_NEW_pwd}
I have build a ksh-script to randomly change a user-password, and e-mail the user the new value.
It works like a charm, so I'm quite fond of FNDCPASS

  • How to get users' login logout time for user IDs for a specific date?

    Dear All,
There is a case I being requested to retrieve the Userid, User Name,
User Group, User Dept, Date, Login Time, Logout Time in a specific date, for example, 21.05.2009.
How should I retrieve the information? The user want to input specific date and user group then return the details that mentioned above.
I try with SUIM->Users->By Logon Date and Password Change... but I can't specific the date that I want ...
I try with SM19 (Security Audit Log), but unfortunately in my system this is not activated.
I've seek for SAP's advise, and they say need to ask abaper to developr a report in order to get such details....
Do you guys have any other methods?
Do you guys know which tables will contain the details as mentioned above?
    Best Regards,
    Ken

Unfortunately without the audit log, you're going have a hard time finding this information.  As mentioned, ST03N will give you some information.  If your systems daily workload aggregation goes back to the date you require then you'll be able to get a list of all users who logged on that day.  ST03N doesn't keep time stamps just response times.
My only idea is VERY labor intensive.  If your DB admin can retrieve a save of the database from that day then table USR02 will hold a little more information for you.  It will contain last login times for that day.  If your system backup policy happened to have saved the contents of folder "/usr/sap/<SID>/<instance>/data" then you potentially have access to all the data you require.  The stat file will have recorded every transaction that took place during that day.  If that file is restored you could use program RSSTAT20 to query against it.
Good luck and turn on the audit log as it makes your life much easier!
