Looking for gentle intro to OID - user management.

Hi guys, LDAP Newbie Alert!
I've just finished deploying a big stack of Oracle kit including Oracle Internet Directory under WebLogic... it's all working fine, but now I want to start integrating a bunch of third party apps into my OID for authentication.
I only have a single account in OID which I use for Admin purposes and I'd like to create another less privileged account which I can use for running queries from these 3rd party apps...
I can create a new user account Ok, but when I try to bind using it I get an error... so I'm guessing that I need to set an ACL or something to give him 'search' rights to the directory, but have no idea where to start...
Can anyone point me at a simple tutorial or primer to help get over this newbie hurdle?
Many thanks... Jerry

Martin,
I would also suggest you post your need in other HR-related forums in SCN.  That way you'll reach the audience you're seeking directly.  While we do have many SAP customers / partners participating in UAC (we have more than 105,000 members across UAC), the greater SCN community has about 1.8 million members so posting in other forums also makes sense for something so business related.
Best Regards,
Heather

  • Acrobat looking for joboptions file in a user folder that doesnt exist

I have a user that has Acrobat Pro XI installed on her machine. When she tries to create a pdf using Adobe PDF as the printer option, it produces an error that it cannot file the PDF_1.joboptions file. The error message indicates that it is looking for that file, in a User appdata folder, for a user account that doesn't exist, nor can it be made to exist on the machine. I have already attempted a repair of the installation... and I also have completely uninstalled and reinstalled the software and it is still looking in the same location. Is there a registry key that can be altered for this, or a setting in Distiller or elsewhere to fix where Adobe PDF looks for this joboptions file? Thank you,
    Matthew M

    Hi Matthew ,
Please refer to the following link and see if it fixes the issue.
Re: Selected PDF Job Option doesn't exist...
Could you please also share the error message so that we can replicate this issue.

  • Looking for screen to change Supplier User Registr.. workflow process name

    Hi,
The question relates to Supplier User Management.
Does anybody know if there is a page where you can pickup the workflow (the shipped one has internal name POS_REG) process name for supplier registration?
    Thank you.
    Anatoliy

    Hi Bala
What enhancements were you adding to the Workflow Reassign/Delegate feature, which included being able to add comments? A good idea is to look for any differences between how workflow implements the reassign feature, and your customization.
Also, make sure you only use the Public documented PL/SQL APIs and do not update the tables directly to ensure no Support or Upgrade Issues.
    Cheers
    Mark
I am using Stand alone Workflow 2.6, In my workflow process
which is an Issue tracking system which is working fine. On Enhancement I would like to create my own RE-ASSIGN function which will, Change the ownership of an issue totally to other user.
For this I Created a package(CHANGE_OWNER.CREATE)which will show list of Users and Comment field(Just like Re-Assign).
Here user can pick other user, and add comment,
once submit for that Item key I am updating the workflow notification table so that paritcular issue ownership will be changed.
In my workflow process I created a lookup code called "Change Owner". On click of Change Owner it will call the Function
in workflow process which will call CHANGE_OWNER.CREATE, here
the workflow process supposed to wait and get the User to be
changed. BUT THE PROCESS IS NOT WAITING, IT JUST DISPLAYED THE
SCREEN AND CONTINUED THE WORKFLOW PROCESS. I WANT THE MY
WORKFLOW PROCESS TO BE ACT AS RE-ASSINGN BUTTON WHICH WILL WAIT
    FOR THE USER INPUT.
    HOW TO DO IT.
    Thanks
    Bala.

  • Looking for detailed literature on Aperture3 color management for fine art printing

I am looking for a coherent , cohesive book or tutorial on Aperture 3 color management capability for fine art printing. Thanks.

Sad to report: does not exist, or if it does, is a closely held secret (by, imho, a coven of eyeless warlocks).
Color on OS X is likely -- just imho -- going to go through a transition which is not going to be helpful, in the short term, for Mac users for whom color is a vital part of their work.  X-Rite has, afaict, cast their lot with Adobe.  ICC profiling looks like a dead end at this point.  Apple is either going to have to leap-frog the competition, or use their technology.
One of the best resources I know is North-Light Images.  Up-to-date, Aperture-specific, authoritative information on printing is rarer than superb photography.

  • Looking for Suggestions on granting all users access to an application *except a subset of users*

This might not be the right forum for this question, but since it is related to an App-V application I figured I would try since this may have come up for some of you.  I am looking for the best way to grant all Domain Users access to an application
except for Domain Admins.  Using the Full App-V infrastructure, I want to grant access to the App-V UI via User Targeting, but I don't want to allow Domain Admins access.  The reason for this is because when we make updates to provisioned
server cores (stateless), we login with our Admin accounts to make modifications to the cores, and I would like to reduce the steps that need to be taken at the end to ensure that all AppV applications are removed before sealing up the core.
Currently, Domain Admins do not have access to any App-V applications, so this process is fairly clean.  All applications are User Targeted.
Packages are cached on a persistent D drive on each server, so the issue is that the registry, programdata, and packageinstallationroot become out of sync if packages are pulled down during core modifications after the core is attached to other servers (hence
other D drives).  Because of this, Machine Targeting is not an option for this either.

This would be so much easier with a "Configuration Manager" like feature where you could create a collection query to accomplish the same thing.  Are there other tools out there that will do the same thing?

  • Looking for a report to get all managed system components

    Hi,
We are looking for a report to get the support pack level of managed system.
We can get that by going individually on each system entry in SMSY. Is there a standard report or a transaction in solution managed that can list the support pack level of all managed systems ?
    Thansk you for your help.
    Chak

    Hi,
Another option you have -- provided that you are running EarlyWatch Reports on all of your systems -- would be to create a single Service Level Report.
You would create a variant that includes all of your systems under the Select for Reporting column. Then under the Content from Solution Manager tab select the System Configuration -->  Select for Reporting box.
This System Configuration report will provide you will the hardware info (OS version, CPU, memory), database version, SAP software components/version, and the SAP kernel.
The SLR allows you to extract and aggregate segments of your EWAs into a single report.
    Good luck.

    To Read: HRTRV_IF_GET_TRIP
    To Modify: HRTRV_IF_MODIFY_TRIP
Please be aware that these FMs are not released for customers, i.e. you won't get any support for them.
EDIT: Since you are dealing with Structure USER/PTK99, maybe the document I created is of interest to you: Adding fields in Travel WDA Applications

  • Looking for Java Reference Manual, Not User Manual

I'm a mainframe programmer learning Java. I'm going thru "The Complete Reference Java" by Schildt. In the mainframe world, manuals are usually broken into reference manuals (shows just the syntax) and user manuals (shows how to do things). I'm looking for a pure Java reference manual that strips away all of the verbose explanation of how to do things and just lists in an organized way the pure syntax of Java. Does anyone know of such a manual? Everything I've found so far falls more into the user manual category that perhaps contains the syntax somewhere (if you look for it), but is overburdened with tons of explanations. Thanks.

Thanks. What you provided is a bit like a reference manual and user manual combined into one. It has the complete syntax along with plenty of explanations. BTW, I think I know where Schildt got most of his material for his Complete Java Reference book. It's almost like he took the Java Language Specification book and reorganized it into a tutorial format.

  • Look for queries that belong to user group

    Hi guys
I went to transaction code SQ01 to look for other user queries and after I type the user group I am not able to see the qryes for this particular group.
Should I have to do something extra that I have missed ?
    Thanks

    Hello-
In SQ01 menu please go to EDIT --> Other User Group and select the user group you want to. If you maintain more than one query area, go to ENVIRONMENT - -> Query Areas and select the query area you want to see the report in and then you can look at the user groups as mentioned above.
    Hope this helps.

  • Looking for a Photo Album or Photo Management Software

Does anyone know of any good software that I could use like a photo album, something like iView Media (which I have) but maybe a little more visually appealing. I'm not looking for anything to host pics online; I just want something that lets me break down my pictures by year...and then sub-folders for each year so I can have all different subjects. I haven't been able to find anything no matter how much I've googled...THANKS!!

    Medic2872P:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. As TD mentioned you can use iPhoto in the alias mode but you take on some additional responsibilities. When you delete a photo from the iPhoto library you do not delete it from the HD. That must be done manually from the Finder. It can be pretty easy to do that before deleting from iPhoto by Control-clicking on the thumbnail and selecting Show Original in the contextual menu. You'll be taken to the folder where the source file is located where you can delete it manually. Then delete it from iPhoto.
Secondly, you won't be able to add photos to existing source folder and have them imported into iPhoto automatically. So it's best to put each new import in their own folder and import that way. Also you should not rename or move a source file once it's been imported into iPhoto.
If you're interested in checking it out more thoroughly, read Tutorial No. 2.
If do decide on converting to an alias based library and want to preserve your keywords from the library, Tutorial #1 would be of help. You can follow #1 and then move the photos from the Originals sub folders into your other folders in the Pictures folder and replace the old files with the keyworded files. Next remove the old Library folder to the desktop, create a new library and set iPhoto's Advanced preferences to not copy file when importing. Then import your "source" folder into the new library and you're back in business.
But you should remember the caveats I've mentioned. If you're careful you can operate as you'd like.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Looking for a light weight tiled window manager.

    Hello everyone,
I am looking for a light weight window manager with tile support.  I am a programmer by hobby and I like to be able to maximize my screen real estate.
I love hot key and terminal use it just speeds up the process.  I don't however want it to have a huge scripting learning curve.  Currently I am in the process of learning Android development so having to learn a new scripting language on top of it won't make matters better.
Currently I am comfortable with bash, and python.  I can also do some work in perl but not super fluent with it yet.
It would also help if it has dual monitor support.  My main monitor is a 23" LCD max res 1920x1080 and my second monitor is a 17" LCD max res 1440x900 until I get around to picking up another 23".

  • Looking for Connection iPhone beta test users

The Connection tools team is looking to release it’s first iPhone application for user based administration access. The app is built on top of the new REST based API’s for user access (as opposed to the full administrator CUPI access) and allows you to do basic account configuration items for greetings, transfer options, voice name, private lists and a few other items. It’s currently limited to English only.
If you have an iPhone (or iPod Touch or iPad) running iOS 4.1 or later and are running against Connection 8.6 and would like to beta test the app, email me directly at [email protected]

  • Looking for Adobe Premier 1.0 user guide

Published in 1991.  PDF format would be great, willing to purchase a hard-copy.
I apologize if this is the wrong place to post this and would appreciate any advice on other locations to look.  I haven't been able to find anything on Google and it appears that Adobe doesn't keep manuals this old.

I have seen several book sellers, who specialize in old computer books and manuals. I do not have any URL's handy, but a search should yield a few possibilities.
One of my charities has had "library day," and have had many, many older computer books and manuals donated for that purpose. All that are not sold are first offered to public libraries, and then to donation stations for charities, like Goodwill. As those charities will likely not catalog donated books, it might be tough to track.
My Adobe manuals go back a bit, to Ps 2.5, AI & PageMaker 3.0, Steamline, TypeAlign, PageMill, Audition, and a few more to 1.0, but my first Premiere was 6.5 also. If I had Pr 1.0 manual, I'd give it to you.
I will also see if I can find a manual, but your search skills are probably as good, or better than mine.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Looking for some advice from experienced users regarding training courses

I know I need a good, basic Illustrator training course to do what I want with the software. I found this one and was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to advise if it looks adequate to teach me the basics of Illustrator.
    Here is the couse:
    http://matygo.com/class/195-adobe-illustrator
    Here is the syllabus:
    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/47570858/IllustratorClass2.pdf
Or should I subscribe to the Lynda.com tutorials? http://www.lynda.com/Illustrator-CS5-tutorials/one-on-one-fundamentals/61020-2.html
Is the 30 day course at Vector Diary similar? http://www.vectordiary.com/illustrator/illustrator-training-course/http://
Thanks for any advice you can offer.

    The likely culprit:
The problem is likely due to the discreet GPU failing. Download gfxCardStatus 2.3 and use it to disable the GPU. This is a temporary workaround until you get your motherboard replaced.
Possible other causes are the software that installed these:
    com.splashtop.driver.SRXFrameBufferConnector          1.5
    com.avatron.AVExFramebuffer          1.7
    com.splashtop.driver.SRXDisplayCard          1.5
    com.avatron.AVExVideo          1.7
Now they may be causing panics because the try to use acceleration in the GPU which leads to the panics. You are unlucky to have a particular model that has a real problem with this.
