Basically you would need Acrobat. However, it is now also possible to create basic form fields using just the free Reader. In fact, I've been working on a tool that allows you to do it, so if you're interested in it please contact me privately.

  • I created a fillable form with drop downs...

and such using the Adobe Forms Central for my business quotes.  I created the form, saved it as a pdf, tested the form by going through and filling it out with data, whether it was text, dates, or drop down options, and emailed it.  One lady didn't see any of the information I put in, only the original questions.
My son saw all of it, on his computer, but he could also change the form to read something different.  Obviously, I can't have clients changing their quotes.  Is there a way for me to save a version that is readable, only, to the client?  I've been clicking buttons, but the form took me a while and I'm afraid I'll click the wrong thing and have to start from scratch.
I did try going into the pdf, once it was completed with the information and making it read only, but it said I couldn't do that.  I tried encrypting it with a password, but it wouldn't let me do that either.  Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

What you can do is flatten the form field once you've filled them in, and save as a new file. A free JavaScript-based tool is available and makes the process simple: https://www.uvsar.com/projects/acrobat/flattener/
It includes instructions for installing it, but they're a bit out of date, so post again if you get stuck.
Since you mentioned FormsCentral, one thing you may need to do first is remove the usage rights of the form by selecting: File > Save a Copy
and then work with the copy. It doesn't open automatically when you do this.

  • I have created a PDF form with multiple drop downs, all with the same drop down values. When I select a value from 1 of the drop down fields, it replicates in all of the others - which I do not want. How can I fix this?

I'm fairly new to this, but I think it has to do with the way you have the drop downs named. Did you copy one then keep pasting it in each field? If so, that is the problem. You should rename each one with a different number: Dropdown1, Dropdown2, etc. I think that might solve the issue.

  • Creating editable PDF forms in Acrobat

I need to create digital PDF forms, a document with fields that can be filled in by anyone using the free Acrobat Reader.
I'm currently using Acrobat Pro (version 10.1.13) for Mac, but it will not allow me to do that, or perhaps I can't work it out. Here's a link to the tutorial I followed: https://acrobatusers.com/tutorials/how-to-create-editable-form-fields
I'm willing to upgrade, if a more recent version of Acrobat will allow me to do that.
    Please help!
    Many thanks, Mary

Whatever issues you have, have nothing to do with your version of Acrobat. Beyond that your info is simply too vague. just saying that it doesn't work is never a good way to ask for help. Either way, ask in the Acrobat forum.

  • Creating Editable PDF Form

    Hi all,
    Can anyone help here...
I am trying to create a PDF document in Acrobat Pro 9 Extended, which is a form that can be filled in and saved by the end user. I have created the document in InDesign and am using Pro to add in the editable regions.
    Here is the PDF: www.leshooperfitness.com.au/pdf/exercise-meal.pdf
I can open the file, add content to the form, re-save it and it retains all the info. However, I am having all sorts of problems with other people saving content to the file, sometimes it works, sometimes all the content is wiped clean and sometime the content is there, but you have to actually click on a text box before the content is displayed. The other people are sometimes on a Mac/iPad, but even when they use Adobe Reader they are able to save the info and sometime it stays saved on their machine until it is emailed to me and then it disappears. Other times they save it and when they go back to it, it has gone. But there doesn't seem to be a consistant pattern, it just doesn't seem like a very reliable way of saving info.
Does anyone know what I could be doing wrong? Or, is there a more effective way of creating editable, interactive forms?
    Thanks

The problem you seeing with the content not being displayed until the field has the focus is a well kown problem with PDF forms that have been filled and saved with the Preview application on the Mac. For more information, see: http://kb2.adobe.com/community/publishing/885/cpsid_88564.html
So the Mac users (OSX) should use Adobe Reader, as opposed to Preview. Windows users may not be using a viewer as capable as Acrobat/Reader as well, so you mught want to check that also.
The default PDF viewer on the iPad does not support interactive PDF forms, so you'll need to use a viewer that does. Adobe Reader for the iPad does not at the moment, and the best one that does is Readdle's PDF Expert.

  • Fill a PDF form via Excel (VBA) - Hide text box

    Hi,
i already created a PDF form and also can fill the text boxes with Excel VBA.
Now i'm about to hide some fields if they are empty, but i have no clue how to.
My code to fill the fields is:
    Fields("Title").Value = Worksheets(TabName).Cells(actCell, 4).Value
To hide a field the code should be similar, but i have no clue what statement i need to set.
    I already tried:
    Fields("Title").Visible = False
    Fields("Title").Hide
    Fields("Title").Hide = True
What else can i type to hide and unhide the fields?
Looking forward to hear from you.
    Thanks a lot.

Does the form have a provision to insert images (e.g. a Browse button)?

  • Can't edit pdf form with acrobat all of a sudden!

I used to be able to create and edit our pdf forms we created with Acrobat.  After switching to Creative Cloud and updating/installing all the apps we want to use, it now says:
"This form cannot be edited in Acrobat.  Pleae use Adobe LiveCycle Designer to edit this form."
I don't see this app available?

  • PDF evaluation Form with drop-down - values are not averaging correctly

Can someone help me modify my form so that it averages the value in the drop down menu correctly?  One of the items in the drop should have no value at all - not even 0.  I cannot figure out what to do in the document to get the other ratings in the drop to average ,but want the NR - No rating label to have no value at all.  Im on deadline and in someone of  a panic.
    Can anyone hep?

Then the overall rating for that section would be left blank.  Can you assist me with creating the Javascript?  Do I continue with using the adobe acrobat 10 or do I need to use the adobe lifecycle.   This is completely new to me.
I have watchted videos, but none have explained the steps for this process step by step.  Thanks in advance.
The rating options for the user in the drop down boc will look something like this:
    NR- Not Rated
    1- Needs Development
    2- Below Expectations
    3- Competent - Meeting Expectations
    4- Role Model
    5- Exceptional

  • I have created a .pdf form with text boxes, but the recipients are unable to fill in their answers.

How can I distribute a form with text boxes so that the recipients are able to type into the boxes?

This forum is for the Adobe FormsCentral (formscentral.adobe.com) which is a service that allows you to create, collect and analyze data using an online web form. You should ask PDF related form questions in the Acrobat forums: http://forums.adobe.com/community/acrobat/forms
I'll move your post to that forum so you don't need to retype it. They can help you out...

  • Can I create a PDF form with a field for adding/changing Photos?

Does anyone have a solution to the following problem?
I would like to be able to make a PDF form that others in the office can use to fill in a particular inventory and model number.  (Fields, Easy)
Then have a field where they can replace the PHOTO of the item referred to by the inventory and model number.
Is this possible using Acrobat professional? Can the document then be saved as, or exported somehow from there?
I know this is probabably easy to do in Word, but can a photo be changed on a PDF and saved as?
Thanks for any help or suggestions!
    DaddyOfZed

It will make it possible for them to select a new photo. Will you ever want to extract the photo from the form to be used elsewhere?
In order to set this up in Acrobat, you can create a button to display the image, set its layout to something other than "Label only", and add the following JavaScript to the Mouse Up action:
// Prompt user to select an image
    event.target.buttonImportIcon();
For the PC users, Acrobat Standard is sufficient for this.

  • Basic Form with Drop Down Menu Help

    Hi Guys,
I have just started using dreamweaver and i dont use code or anything yet.  I have been following a tutorial from thesitewizard which runs through the basics of creating a web page in the design screen.  It created a form to insert but i need to know how to create a form which has a drop down menu to have say 4 or 5 options to select the normal name email comments etc fields and submit button to enbale people to contact me.  Can anyone help with this.  Pleae keep in mind i am very new to this and dont have any code experience etc at all.
Thanx in advance for any help.
    cheers
    chris

You will need to use a form processing script to handle your form data.  This isn't terribly difficult, but it's more than you can do in Design View alone.
Have a look at this form building service.

Another one to look at - although I've never used it myself, it gets mentioned a lot in these groups.

  • Microsoft Word for Mac 2011 - Forms with drop down fields providing fill-in options upon hovering

I have been sent a few form documents created in Microsoft Word which contain drop down fields that provide fill-in options upon hovering over those fields on the form.  These form documents end in ".docx".  I do not own Microsoft
Word for Mac, but am considering buying it or signing up for the Office 365 service for Mac so that I can fill in these fields using the drop down options.  My question is:
Will Microsoft Word for Mac or the Office 365 for Mac service allow me to use the drop down fields that provide fill-in options upon hovering?  Or is this feature not available when using either Microsoft Word for Mac or the Office 365 service
    on a Mac?
Any advice would be appreciated.  Thank you!
