Loops "missing" but still in library

Upon update, many loops went 'Missing" although they are in the loop library still.
Have tried several attempts to re-index loops to no avail.
For instance, "Live Edgy Drums 07" remains, but "Live Edgy Drums 29.2" does not and has no sound.
in sound effects, "Airplane Takeoff" is in the loop library and is functioning, but "is not found" in my composition.

how do i get them back into my playlist?
On the left side ofTunes, drag from Library -> Music to the playlist you want it in.
why does it keep doing this?
Are you deleting the playlists the song(s) are in?

  • Photos deleted from iPhoto, but still in Library folder

    iPhoto 9.5.1
Strange behavior in iPhoto : let's say I imported 100 photos. Then, in iPhoto, deleted 80, keeping 20. Emptied trash in iPhoto. Then emptied Trash in Finder.
Let's say the "_DSC1234.JPG" photo was among deleted files. When searching "_DSC1234.JPG" in Spotlight, I find it in the "Master" folder of the "iPhoto Library" folder (Photothèque in French).
I've got a lot of photos deleted, but kept in Library, Not good for privacy, not good for hard drive space.
For exemple, I find 514 ".NEF" photos in the iPhoto searchbox. But when searching in the iPhoto LIbrary folder with Spotlight for files with ".NEF" in their names, I find 1048 ! No duplicates, no previews or "faces" (hey are in JPEG), but photos I deleted, before emptying iPhoto and Finder trash !!
    Rebuilding Library didn't help.
I'm using a user account not allowed to administrate the computer. Maybe a link ?
The question was already asked, but never answered :
Growing iPhoto Library, deleted photos still in folders
Deleted Photos:  Why are they still in my iphoto library folder?
Photos deleted from within iPhoto are still in Library folder
    Thanks for your help !

Strange behavior again, with the original library : If I select NO event and use the menu Information, I've got 14.634 photos. If I select all events, I've got 15.760 photos. How can I have more photos in all events than in my Library ??????
Check, if you have hidden photos.
File > New Smart Album,  with a rule: Photo is hidden
In my iPhoto Library the "Hidden" flag accounts for the difference in the Photos count between selecting all events and no events.
Make sure, "View > Hidden Photos" is enabled in the View menu, so you can recognize hidden photos by the X.

  • Drum Loops Missing But Plays Fine? EXS24 Instrument "2-step remix.exs"

Half of my drum loops play just great in the loop browser but when I drag them to the playhead I get the error message "EXS24 Instrument "2-step remix.exs" not found." and the same loop that just sounded great in the loop browser instantly morphs into some nasty series of sine wave beeps and clicks. What could possibly cause this?
    Much thanks for any ideas.

That does make a lot of sense, I'll check the computers tomorrow when I get back to the studio and see. I usually sling the control over to "never" for putting the computer to sleep but I don't remember doing anything to the HD sleep.
Many thanks for that suggestion, fingers crossed.

  • Exclamation point! Half my library missing but still on disk

When I add my music to the itunes library half of the songs have an exclamation point, while the music is still on the hard drive. (it's not missing!!) When I re-add the songs they play once but after restarting itunes the exclamation point reappears. I added music from 2 hard drives (music from one drive seems to disappear all the time from the library). Probably that has something to do with it but I cannot find the problem. Please help!!!

Try keeping all of your songs in the same location. When iTunes loads music, it seems to look in one directory (i.e. My Music) and its subfolders. If you play a song from another location, iTunes seems to lose that information on restart. If you put all your songs in one folder and its subfolders, you should not have this problem. Just remember to remove all the songs from your playlists and start from scratch.

  • Motion Shape Styles missing, but still in the Library?

    Hi All-
In Motion 5 I am no longer seeing any shape styles listed in the usual location under the "shape" tab, "style" tab, "Shape Style:" drop-down.  The only option I have is "Save Shape Style...".  Note that shape styles in existing projects still display, I just can't select new ones.  This appears to affect all my projects equally.  And this just appeared today -- previously everything's been working fine.
I can see in /Library/Application Support/Final Cut Studio/Motion/Library/Shape Styles/ that everything is still present in the filesystem, it's just that Motion seems to not be finding them.  Note also that I still have Motion 4 installed and shape styles do still appear there.
I tried trashing prefs, no dice.  Permissions in the Library are read-only for everyone, and as far as I know that is typical.
    Ideas?
    Thanks.
Edit:  This is a Motion *5* question, not FCPX -- there was no Motion 5 option in the post UI.

Thanks.  I'm aware of the utility, but temporarily swapping out Motion prefs is a simple affair of moving two files out of /Library/Application Support.  No dice.  Shape Styles were still gone with blanked out prefs.
However they did reappear eventually and then disappear again.  Quitting and re-launching the program a few times may or may not have been responsible for the disappearances/reappearances.  I should note that when this happens, the preset list of gradient fills also disappears.

  • Missing music in playlist but still in library...

A few days ago when i connected my Ipod Touch to itunes, it cleared my intire ipod. Well its music anyway. it has done this a few other times as well. I got some of the songs back on there but i still cant get them all back onto my ipod. I looked in my library and all the songs are there, but i cant get them on my playlist. First, how do i get them back into my playlist? And second, why does it keep doing this?

  • Playlists missing but still in context menu

Macbook Pro 13" 2013 running Mavericks and latest versions of both Mavericks and iTunes.
This is a bit of a weird issue. At some point in the last few weeks iTunes decided to update itself from 7.0 despite the fact that I said NO every time the opportunity popped up. Then lo and behold, I open it one day and it's a newer version - fricking gremlins.
Anyway, after this update my library and playlists had disappeared. I figured I would just open a previous library, but for some reason the newest previous library was several months old and didn't have some playlists.
While it's not a major issue to remake those missing playlists, what's irritating me is that they're in the context menu when I right click. I can even add music to them. But I can't see the playlist. And when I add a song to one of these missing playlists, the "Show in Playlist" menu item doesn't list these missing playlists. The major problem is an overlap in names - an old playlist and a new replacement playlist with the same name and I'm accidentally adding to the old, not new.
Anyone have ANY idea what the heck is going on here?
As an addition, I have the old playlists on my phone (iPhone 4) still. I haven't synced the phone since this problem came up because it wants to erase everything on my phone.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
    brad

You aren't the only one. I did NOT upgrade to the latest Itunes version recently but upon entering Itunes today my playlists were all gone (and I spend a lot of time organizing playlists). Found a previous .itl (Itunes library file) and was able to save a lot of playlists but the .itl file was 6 months old so all updates made to playlists since then are gone. I may have lost more and am still determining loss but I really hate it when work is lost - I've been an Itunes user since it first came out and this is a regular experience.
Suggested update for Apple would be to create more historical .itl files (could be daily with user choices as to how many and naming conventions). .itl files can be big so there would have to be file reuse or some means to not overwhelm the user's computer with unused files.

  • In the last 36 hours my photos have jumbled within various albums. Random photos have attached at the end of an unrelated album, old photos have appeared again on Recently Added, some photos are missing but still on "collections". No date order

Within the last 36 hours my photo albums have turned into a real jumbled mess. Random photos have appeared at the bottom of my Recently Added album. In most cases it's a copy of a photo that was taken months or years ago so now it appears twice.. 200 random photos have appeared in an unrelated album.  Some photos are missing completely. The date order is correct in some places and then it goes back and forth over the months and years. The "collections" appears to be okay.  This morning when I went into the photo app About 50 photos that were permanently deleted 3 months ago reappeared on the Recently Added Album which  I deleted again.  if  I delete these irreplaceable photos from the unwanted album it will delete the photo completely. Help please - this is so annoying and frustrating. I hate to think when I turn the iPad on tmoor row what else will have changed .

    Quick Update:
I usually have my Mac laptop up with Messages running on it.  As you know, it will receive the same messages you send/receive on your iPhone.  I thought all my old photos would be there too, but they have all disappeared as well except for the last few.
Messages is supposed to archive all old photos to  a directory called ~/Library/Messages/Attachments.  On my mac, this was a 0 byte file that was created back in Jan 2014.  As a result, none of the old photos got saved on my Messages app either.  I looked at a Time Machine Backup and it has been the case since September (no earlier backups available).  So, it's unclear how long this issue has been going on for my Messages app and how related it is to my iPhone problem.
In any case, if any of you use Messages, you may be able to recover your photos in that directory provided it didn't get trashed like mine did.  I moved the file and created a new Attachments directory.  Upon relaunch, Messages started properly storing new photos in there again.
Either there was a really terrible bug in the Apple software or something malicious has happened.
P.S.  I'm running OS 10.9.5 Mavericks.   There is a thread of people with this problem on Yosemite here:
No pictures are shown in Message om Mac
This seems like a pretty seriously terrible bug.  I will be talking again to AppleCare on Wednesday and I hope they can escalate this.

one of the problems may be that the original files may have been moved.
before you do anything, open itunes, then click on the ipod icon on the left side of the screen. there should be 4 check boxes. make sure the "manually manage music" check box is filled in
for one thing, try finding the folder where all of your music is stored.
then, click and drag the music into itunes, or onto your ipod.

  • Photos not showing up in iPhoto but still in Library

I'm having a problem with iPhoto. I just got back from a trip. I was copying using the share photo function my photos from one computer to another and after that it seems that about 500 photos are not showing up on the original computer, these photos also did not copy over. Originally, I thought somehow I had deleted them somewhere but they are in fact still in the correct places in the iPhoto library folder. However, they are not showing up when I open iPhoto. I have restarted. I have repaired permissions. I have checked the iPhoto trash- they are not there. I have viewed the hidden photos. I am at a loss. I am sure it is some easy fix I just cannot find it. Please help. I don't want to manually deal with this problem because I have already organized all of them.

Sounds like a corrupted database, I'm afraid.
Try these in order - from best option on down...
    1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
    2. Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums back.
    3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Events and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
In the iPhoto Preferences -> Events Uncheck the box at 'Imported Items from the Finder'
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Event Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

  • Music wiped from iPod nano but still in library

Trying to update my iPod nano, I get this error message:
Songs on the iPod "Claire's iPod" cannot be updated because all of the playlists selected for syncing no longer exist
I inadvertently deleted a playlist entitled Claire's iPod earlier, which seemed to contain all but a few songs in my library, created during my last update, possibly due to space being short on my iPod?
All songs are still in my library. How do I get them back onto iPod nano?
    Help! Thanks.

    Your options are:
    1. Create a new playlist with the same name as the one you deleted
    2. Create a new playlist with any name. When your iPod appears, go to the second(music) tab and select the playlist you just created to be synced, and no other one unless you want it.

  • IPhoto gone but still in Library!! Help!

All the pictures in my iPhoto are gone! But, when I go to Users, User Name, Pictures I can see my Photo Booth pictures and iPhoto Library image, but when I open iPhoto all the pictures are not there. I right clicked on the iPhoto Library image and it says 6.06GB, which is how much all my photos were before they disappeared. Help!

The Event totally disappears, including that the import even happened. However, all the files still exist in Pictures -> iPhoto Library -> Originals. When I look in faces, it identifies picture titles that I import, but it doesn't show the picture it just shows a dotted line square. When I double like on the file it just shows a grayed out exclamation point, as if it can't find the file. If I change any other files that were in the system, iPhoto is still able to find them. Importing was working as of last week.
the ! indicated that iPhoto has lost the connection between the thumbnail and the high res photo - if you have not made any modification to your iPhoto library using the finder or a program other that iPhoto try rebuilding the library - launch iPhoto while depressing the option (alt) and command (apple) keys and rebuild the library from the last automatic database backup

iTune or Camera roll doesn't show it either! Where is this file located? Any trick to access it?

This is crazy, but when I do what you suggested, I can see the music in the file, but it's the exact same path I'm taking just clicking into each folder.  It's weird.  I've backed up the files now using those folders.  Should I delete everything out of itunes and start over or is there a quick fix to get those files to show when I click through the same path?

  • Photos missing but still listed as there in iTunes sync?

So, I just upgraded to iOS8 on my 4S and everything is cool, except on the Sync page in iTunes it says I have 191 photos.  However, on the phone itself, I only see one 10 second video...  Where are all of these 191 photos that are supposedly on the phone?

Many of us are experiencing the very same thing.  The photos are still on the phone but we just can't see them.  Be sure to report it to Apple via http://www.apple.com/feedback/icloud.html and  http://www.apple.com/feedback/iPhone.html
