Loose Desired Fonts during Online PDF Conversion
Often fonts change when I upload files to the acrobat.com
website to convert them to .pdfs. How can I request that fonts I
want and that are visible on my computer monitor to be embedded
into the PDF?

While we do our best to perform a 1:1 conversion to .Pdf,
some documents aren't able to be converted at 100% accuracy.
With conversion, there aren't font options, or other
conversion options to change to alter the outcome of the
conversion.
Are the fonts actually changing to another font family?
Which font are you using in the original document?
Could you share one of your word doc files that is being
converted improperly to [email protected] ? That way we can take a
look at the file, to better improve our conversion process.

Missing font error on PDF conversion
FrameMaker book that has been updated and converted with same set of fonts and styles many times will not convert to PDF on one machine. (I use a Mac running XP in Parallels for Frame, then Distiller Mac.) The error is "findfont" looking for Helvetica-Oblique. This and all needed Helveticas are present, and I've updated this machine's Distiller's PDF font settings to know where they are--to no avail. I have set Distiller to either warn and continue or ignore missing fonts.
This same file converts with no trouble on a second Mac with the same set-up. Acrobat distills with warn and continue, the substituted and/or non-embedded fonts clearly visible in the job log, through all 182 pages of the book.
Is the problem a corrupt font? Bad settings file (and where might I locate it to replace)? Something in what Frame is generating (.ps file)? Printer driver (Acrobat printer actually hangs on either machine)? Should I post this query to the Acrobat forum?

Karen RobbinsForgive my erroneous terminology.... Yes, FrameMaker can open the files with missing fonts. No problem finding .ps files: I actually distill manually because Distiller is on the Mac. No, I am not using a default printer that lists Helvetica Narrow Bold as a built-in font. This font occurs in a file to which I import a large amount of tabular text that is preformatted by an MML file. We've been doing it this way for more than 5 years. This will probably make you cringe: Helvetica Narrow is not, and has never been, installed on the Windows side--only on the Mac side where Distiller lives.
There are now potentially two problems:
1) When FrameMaker is set to a printer other than Adobe PDF, a .ps file is generated and yes, I can see where the file chokes in Distiller; if I modify the suspect font on that page, the .ps file will distill up to the next instance of that font. This problem is correctly dealt with via warn-and-continue and/or substitution settings on a second machine with the same set-up as the one on which the problem occurs. Note: Using Parallels to run Windows XP, which uses an HP printer driver to reach my physical local printer (regardless of the make/model it happens to be). On the second machine, I have network printers and several different PPDs.
2) When the FrameMaker printer is set to Adobe PDF on the problem machine, no .ps file is generated because that printer does not find Helvetica Narrow Bold--apparently just as it should.
Because FrameMaker can generate .ps files and Distiller can distill them on a second machine with the same (apparent) set-up, from the same source material, I want to understand what it is about the fonts, or the font substitution instruction, that is possibly causing the problem. Or, perhaps adding an additional printer PPD (one that works on the second machine) to the problem machine could clear this up?

Font Scrambling in PDF Conversions from Word 2004
Our Imago fonts periodically get scrambled into garbage when using the Adobe 7.0 Pro Distiller to convert documents. We purchased the Imago fonts specifically for use in our business and have used this for a number of years and the problem continues to happen. It appears that it is imbedded properly in the preferences menu. Has anyone had this happen or does anyone have any suggestions?
Hello, hereby a snapshot of the Word doc & the result as pdf as shown in Adobe Acrobat Pro XI. (In Acrobat reader it shows ok) . Depending on how I convert to pdf I get different results. Sometimes a completely coloured page, a blank page or with only the coloured line showing.

I am downloading the PDF format of the smartform through cprojects. In the smartform I have used my own Z style which uses ARIAL as the font. But when I view the PDF format of the smartform, the font is taken as Courier. The Document property of ADOBE READER shows Courier as the font rather than Arial. Please provide any settings for PDF/smartform if required to get the necessary font.

Problem in PDF conversion of a Smartform
Hi Experts,
I have Chinese text and english text in the Smartform
When see print preview of Smartfrom the output is perfect
But when i convert the OTF to PDF using CONVERT_OTF FM and send as mail attachment,
The chinese characters are JUNK and conversion don't occur properly.
For english TEXT i use Times new roman font
For Chinese Text i use CNSONG
I have used other FM as well CONVERT_OTF_2_PDF, the results were negative.

We got this solution from SAP active global support.
I suppose it works in some cases only.
Our scenario is when we try to create PDF of the smartform using FM convert_otf and send as mail attachment.
We can able to see chinese chracters when giving the print preview of the form, but during PDF conversion we get Junk chinese characters.
Even if you have multiple languages in your form, SAP proposes to use 'ZPDFUC' as device type.
My question has the solution proposed by you works in all cases?

I Need to Embed Fonts in my PDF
Hi,
I am trying to upload a pdf into a website but they say there is an error that's stopping the process from going ahead. Apparently I have to embed the fonts in my pdf first.
I've done quite a bit of online research and found several ways of doing this - none of which seem to be possible to me!
Is there a way that I can embed fonts without having to buy something? I have Adobe Reader, Digital Editions... but I have no idea if I have anything else (Acrobat?). I haven't deliberately bought it, but this is a brand new top-of-the-range, expensive laptop so I don't know if would have already been installed? Windows 8.2 means that it's harder than ever to navigate your way around the computer.

I just made a document in word and saved it as a pdf.
I have downloaded the trial version and gone through the steps as described here:

Now about to upload to the website... I'll let you know if it's worked. I have a feeling it won't have because I don't have a printer and didn't print it out. The method described above wanted me to print the document out. However I don't want or need to. I just want to embed the fonts so the website accepts my document! -
Web pages missing from PDF conversion of my website
The top page of my website has an expander list with links to subpages. When I convert my site to PDF, Acrobat skips those subpages. The expander list is closed during PDF conversion, so the links are not visible preventing Acrobat from "seeing" these subpages.
How can I make Acrobat "see" these pages?In WORD try these for comparison: 1. Print to the Adobe PDF printer and 2. Use the Adobe menu to convert to PDF (this is PDF Maker). There are possibly 2 conversion to PDF processes in the file menu. One is equivalent to PDF Maker (Save As Adobe PDF) and the other is the MS conversion to PDF (Save As PDF or XPS).
One additional issue you may run into (since you mentioned page numbers) is a change in formating when creating the PDF. To avoid this change, be sure the Adobe PDF printer is selected in the print menu before editing the DOC file. Another option is to make the Adobe PDF printer the default. -

Hello, I have an issue when performing the Spool to PDF conversion. I am using FM CONVERT_ABAPSPOOLJOB_2_PDF to convert an ALV list to a PDF file. When I run my report in the foreground, everything works correctly, the PDF file is attached and then emailed to the appropriate recipient. When I schedule the job to run in the background, the contents of the attachment that is created is truncated on the right side cutting off half of the report (the font is also larger). I am out of ideas on how to solve this issue. Any help would be appreciated.

Adobe Reader/Acrobat can't open online PDF's Suggestions ???
Hi There-
I am using Firefox for my browser and if I try to open any online pdf page I get the following message
"The Acrobat/Reader that is running can not be used to view PDF files in a web browser. please exit Adobe Acrobat/Reader and exit your web browser and try again"
I have checked for updates in Firefox, Adobe Acrobat, and Adobe reader, which is 9.3 version. But to no avail,,,I still get the same message. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Let me know if you need further information to help diaganose the problem.I upgraded from OS Leopard 10.5 to OS Snow Leopard 10.6 recently, which is why I mentioned it could be "the" cause or "one" cause of me not being able to read online pdf's. My online pdf bank statements do not open up with Reader 9.3.3. The website simply says I need to download "Asian Font Pack" in order to read the pdf document. I've downloaded all languages, yet I'm still getting the same message. I've also triple checked to see if I have an older version of Reader that might be of hindrance. I only have 9.3.3 installed.
I am able to read pdf's already downloaded on my computer, just not the online pdf's I want to open.
So, I'm not sure if the problem is Adobe Reader or me upgrading to Snow Leopard (since I was able to read pdf's with Leopard).

Is anyone else experience font issues exporting PDF's in Keynote 6.5?
My entire team has been having issues specifically exporting the font Merriweather. It's been fine in the presentation itself, but in the PDF - it's spaced out aggressively and the font weight/type/size is always wrong.
It's been a real hassle, as our brand body copy font is Merriweather and we've never had a problem with it.The conversion issue seems to be tied to OTF fonts. Converting Merriweather to TTF, deleting OTF versions from Font Book, and/or System Font Folder worked for us. Clearing font cache and restarting can further flush out any legacy conflicts.

I have an Offline PDF Form filled with Data and i need to transfer this data to another Form of the same structure but which is online and can be submitted to SAP from there.

though I do not understand why you don't just upload the offline PDF-Files as a complete file to the desired online location, I try to give you some suggestions.
To my mind you've several options to solve the problem:
1) You can start by uploading the complete file to sap and then parse it there. Try to gather the information by keywords and at which place they are located and by the format of the text. For instance in case of a simple form which looks like that: Firstname: ________ Lastname:____,
you could go for the keyword 'Firstname:' and you'ld put the following 8 characters in a variable which you insert in the online pdf-File. Doing this, you have to get a little bit familiar with Postscript, then you'll understand where to insert in the ps-file the parsed information in the right way. Use ghostscript to check the validity of the ps-file. (PDF-Format is just an enhanced .ps file) Open the online-file with a function module, change it and close it again. After reloading the site there have to be some visible changes.
2) The second idea is to use an offline pdf2xml converter. Once you have the desired information embedded in XML-Tags, you can load the file and put the data in a table, which you design according to the information you need for the online pdf-form. Once again, open the online file, do the changes from your database entries of the offline form field by field and close the file. Reload. Done.
3) If you didn't mean online .pdf but just an online HTML-form(?), XML-Data provides a good basis to deal with the data and to go on with it.
I don't know if this meets your problem, just an idea. -
